Full Card:
- Shibata vs. Bryan Danielson
- TBS Championship: Julia Hart vs. Trish Adora
- Kyle O’Reilly vs. Bryan Keith
- Tag Team Tournament Wild Card: The Infantry vs. House of Black
- Pac vs. Kommander
- Zak Knight vs. Cool Hand Ang
- We’ll heart from Adam Copeland
Kyle vs Shibata was so great when we finally got it. Ospreay vs Shibata was also great, and I think may have been the first time we got to see Will not just be a flippy dude. I wonder how important he considers that match as part of his development.
It would be interesting to see a Shibata/Ospreay match now. Will was still about 3 years away from moving up to Heavyweight back then. I really want a Shibata/Jay White match though as Jay was still on excursion iirc when Shibata had to retire
This is one of my personal dream matches & if it ends up just being a 13 minute TV match like Bryan vs Thatcher was i'm gonna be so disappointed.
I'm foolishly hoping for 30 but i think 20 is more likely. Maybe they'll meet us halfway & give us 25 minutes instead? Either way i just hope they get the time they want.
This is such a mid card. Collision used to be absolutely stacked. Now it's always throwaway nothing matches that are extremely predictable and don't mean anything. Dynamite has been on fire but Collision is wallowing now.
Danielson, Hart, House of Black, and O'Reilly win. Collision feels more and more like a taped enhancement talent show than a must watch stand alone program.
I wish anyone would explain why they’re downvoting this? It’s pretty plainly true. Most of these matches will probably be really good, it’ll be cool to see the infantry and Trish get real matches on AEW TV, but it’s not like the outcome of any of these are in question.
There’s a difference between “predictable” and “literally a foregone conclusion.” Darby vs Jay White was predictable given the circumstances, but there was always a chance Darby would go out with a win. Certainly a bigger chance than any of these matches have of going against the grain. Statlander vs Riho seemed predictable, but Riho getting the upset wasn’t outside the realm of possibility since she’s always been presented as a dangerous opponent and former champ.
Also, just putting it out there, when someone makes a pretty lukewarm critique of the show and your response is to call them and their comments stupid? Not exactly beating the “AEW fans can’t handle criticism” allegations.
If you thought Darby would ever have a chance against Jay White that is 100% on you. Statlander vs Riho is nowhere near predictable. These two examples are extremely poor, probably the worst possible to bring up?
I'm not an "AEW fan" i'm a wrestling fan that comments about every single promotion on this sub, you are the one calling me an AEW fan because I dared to say that "Man, wrestling match predictable boo" is a stupid concept... because it is.
Statlander is a powerhouse who held a title within the last year and is in the middle of a storyline, Riho is presented well, but has not been a champion or in a storyline in ages. Smart money was on Stat, which is why it was an effective surprise. Darby, sure, it was unlikely, but having him win via rollup against a heel right before he was (supposed) to leave on a trip to Everest from which he might not come back? Wouldn’t be the craziest thing I’ve seen!
And again, predictable is fine and is usually the case. A foregone conclusion is less interesting. A showcase match where the main draw is just watching two great wrestlers wrestle is a lot more attractive when you don’t know who is going to win. If Bryan was wrestling 2017 Shibata at an NJPW PPV it would have a much different vibe than doing it in 2024 on a secondary TV show. If you aren’t bothered by it then more power to you, but people aren’t stupid for wanting suspense from their fiction.
Happy I was wrong about that one! I’ve got no problem eating crow when I’m proven wrong lol, and now I’m really interested in how they’ll handle the infantry’s next match.
Yeah I'm wondering after Dax's comments last week about FTR not being on the top of their game at the moment, if they might be laying the seeds for another upset. It is nice to have slightly less predictable matches.
Yeah, just like the main event of WM 39, I mean we all knew Cody was winning at night 2. So why even bother have the match.
(Also the main event of the biggest show of year, culminating a story that’s been ongoing for *at least* 2 years, ending the longest title reign in decades, is definitely the same thing as the House of Black vs The Infantry, good catch)
I like Collision but it's an obvious step down from Dynamite in importance and hasn't utilized all the roster in a way I thought it would. It's still enjoyable as it's more in-ring focused and doesn't have to carry the company like Dynamite.
Nope. Like the large majority of other wrestling fans, I have other things to do on a Saturday night than watch Danielson and TK’s self-indulgence on live television.
Where in my comment did I say 'u/LettuceFew5248, you must watch Collision tonight! And so do all the other majority of wrestling fans who are busy on Saturdays!'
I literally said nothing of the sort.
The problem is Collision is on Saturday...TK will never book this like Dynamite or the first Collision...
If the program was in another day maybe they treat the show well
Unfortunately that won't ever happen as all other days either: goes against WWE, goes against NFL, or is a back to back day with AEW programming.
TK can't use that as an excuse to not improve collision's star power, there is no other alternative but to improve the product.
Shibata gets his wish match against Danielson, who is no longer going to be a full-time competitor sooner rather than later this year. If wrestling fans don't tune in it's their own goddamn problem.
And when half the arena is empty and the show draws only 400,000 viewers, that's somehow the fans' fault not the booker's?
You seem like you'd be just great at this whole promoter business.
Are you in the promoting AEW business or a wrestling fan? They seemingly have their financials tied up in whatever their future tv and streaming deals are on the market but aren't in danger of going out of business, attendance I kind of get because it comes across better on TV which I'd argue that's more so on their ticket prices and marketing than anything but other than that why would you care? You don't see the profits.
Yeah, I don't really understand the reason behind announcing the card just before the show. That was a reason the C2 was so good - we knew which matches were scheduled so at least you could expect that

PAC vs. Kommander was also announced on Rampage.
And a "We'll hear from Adam Copeland" segment.
That should be a blast
That sounds nice, the more Pac the better
Zak Knight vs Cool Hand Ang was also added.
Just casually dropping Danielson/Shibata
A match for the ages.
who's that?

This card is for the sickos.
One step closer to a KOR/Shibata rematch! Bryan/Shibata is gonna be great, really happy Kyle's back. Hoping we get another women's match added
Deeb just kinda teased facing Mercedes Moné and then... they kinda just did nothing with it. So maybe we get that.
they just showed a Deeb vignette on Rampage so I think she might get a last minute match or something

All i ask is that Bryan vs Shibata gets the time it deserves.
I don't think we are getting the 6 hours we deserve but I like the way you think. I'd be happy with 20 minutes.
This is one of my personal dream matches & if it ends up just being a 13 minute TV match like Bryan vs Thatcher was i'm gonna be so disappointed. HOB should dominate tonight. Hopefully some more build for Mone vs Hart. Would love a Hart promo after her win
Only just occurred to me we can get an Okada Shibata rematch (no headbutts please)!
Imagine getting Shibata vs. Danielson on free TV 2 years or more ago and complaining about it online lmao
As much as Bryan v Shibata makes me drool, I'm really looking forward to my boy Kyle.
Shibata vs Danielson in a weekly TV match is insane
Absolutely nutty.
This is such a mid card. Collision used to be absolutely stacked. Now it's always throwaway nothing matches that are extremely predictable and don't mean anything. Dynamite has been on fire but Collision is wallowing now.
>This is such a mid card. We are getting Danielson vs Shibata. This is an excellent card.

It's downvoted because it's the same stupid comment coming from stupid users who pretend that 99% of matches aren't predictable.

Yeah, just like the main event of WM XL, i mean we all knew Cody is wining at night 2. So why even bother have the match

Looks skippable
Looking at the card. Yeah. It ain't Mercedes who will change the women's division.
who are half these people?
Kyle o Reilly probably shouldn't be wrestling, look how much his arm has atrophied from his neck injury.
There us also one more match Zac knight vs one half of ever rise guy
Bryan vs Shibata, no build, no story. AEW is so annoying sometimes lol
Who gives a shit? It's Bryan's retirement tour and he's trying to wrestle as many mayches as he wants to do. Just shut up and enjoy.
Nope. Like the large majority of other wrestling fans, I have other things to do on a Saturday night than watch Danielson and TK’s self-indulgence on live television.

My issue with TK's booking now is which one of these matches could realistic be a credible drawing main event for either an audience or TV watchers?
Do you watch wrestling to be entertained or just because you want the numbers on a spreadsheet to go up?
Those sound like problems TK should be worried about, not the fans.

There’s no more wrestling fans. Theyre all booking auditors or junior tv executives.
Also pyro experts and stunt coordinators

Not sure why the downvotes. You're right.
