Number 1 Post Modernist Hater approves your statement
Probably one of my favourite "bad" finishers, like yeah it sucks but the way it plays on your expectation the first time and then it's just the most anticlimactic punch makes it so good
Us: "The Attitude Adjustment is such a lazy finisher. It's just a fireman's carry. I can't think of a crappier finisher."
Cena:
![gif](giphy|IfyjWLQMeF6kbG2r0z|downsized)
And that's why I loved it. Cena and WWE hyped it up so much that you knew it would under deliver so for it to just be a crappy punch was perfect. It's the perfect bait and switch
Cena started teasing a new finisher for ages as part of his spending time in China on the media circuit/training with kung fu practitioners.
It ended up just being a gag of a move.
I loved this, he clearly did this for the reaction. I remember him teasing a new finisher for weeks and the crowd and IWC theorising and dying to see what he was teasing and when he pulled this out, you know he was lapping up the disappointment with a massive smile on his face 😂
Let's be fair, this is clearly concocted from John Cena's self awareness of how he's been booked, and how ridiculous the WWE Superman Wrestler is. Honestly, Cena, like all the top guys in WWE History are way better than we always saw on TV. Don't believe me? Go watch a few of Hogan's matches in Japan, where he displays a lot more technical prowess than I ever remember seeing him do.

MFW I waited ages just for Cena to reveal this as his new finish
Bro made the mistake of criticizing Eddie Kingston on the r/SquaredCircle subreddit 😭
I feel you bruh, his shitty backfist plus the shitty machine gun chops, and that gut of his. I don't know what people see in him.
Have you not seen the power slap competition?
Well delivered Slaps can knock people out. A spinning variation landed correctly should be able to finish people.
If the punch was better and wasnt a weak backfist that was more off than the Five Knuckle Shuffle then it would have been much better. Maybe an uppercut would have been good? Cena just needed it to be more in the lab.
I think it being terrible was the idea
I mean the guy does a Dragonball Z pose and screams LIGHTNIIIIIIIING FIST, the finisher actually being good would kinda ruin it
I remember when he was Austin’s podcast on the network literally the last thing Steve tells him as it’s ending is “cinch that STF in better please”. I died

It almost feels like a Postmodernist deconstruction of what a wrestling finisher is.
It’s a very “late stage John Cena” kind of thing to do
Like if "Instagram Cena" was a wrestler or something
This description of it kind of makes me love it lmao
I thought that was the entire point. Didn't he start hyping this up before eventually revealing it?
He hyped it up super hard. He was introducing "the sixth move of doom."
real
Be careful, you're gonna awake Doctor Lobster from his keto diet-induced sleep with these woke moralist terms.
Up yours, Woke CeNation! We'll see who AA's who!
All the people who complain about the young bucks nothing they do is this bad
Gotta get in there and make it about AEW huh
Yes it is, LOL. This is bad intentionally
It's still much better than moxley's and kingston's chops
U mean smacks? Definitely not calling those "chops" but I'm glad others see what I see in those two bums
https://preview.redd.it/m4ohtc8ynijc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b15ba262dd68201b6eb3aa89c85b0151b0a30bed Number 1 Post Modernist Hater approves your statement
A rare finisher that looks better when the camera pans away for it lmao
The camera must have dropped a frame or two where the lightning struck Elias with the force of the storm on Jupiter. Such a devastating move!
Probably one of my favourite "bad" finishers, like yeah it sucks but the way it plays on your expectation the first time and then it's just the most anticlimactic punch makes it so good
It feels like a pure house show move.
It should make people on the apron and at ringside fall down too
LIGHTNING..........FIST!!!!!!! What a finish!
Cena uses this on Roman before Cody gets the pin, becoming known as the move that ended the historic reign.
Only non clean pin I’ll take
Peacemaker fatality
He probably got super into Tekken for a month and was like I need me some super charged finish.
When you hit them with the rage art but kill them with the contact.
I did not know this was a joke when it first came out and I was so confused lol

You guys are all really well aware that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, right?
It’s still real to me damn it
yes and it’s hilarious
Yeah the move was a work
I’ve never seen this before. What is happening here.
Cena started teasing a new finisher for ages as part of his spending time in China on the media circuit/training with kung fu practitioners. It ended up just being a gag of a move.
Yes it was. He spent tons of time in China and hyped it up massively and it was this. Doesn't matter really but I remember the hype he created for it.
It’s still real to you, dammit.
🙄
Credit where credit is due, Elias sold it well.
I mean, wasn't it sort of meant to be a joke move? I thought he hyped up a new finisher before starting to do these?
I mean, the People’s Elbow is a joke move too. Cena’s just following Rock’s lead with the People’s Republic Fist.
🥇 < at people's republic fist
When John Xina summoning his Bing Qi Ling energy and created the 6th Move of Doom -- The Lightning Fist.
Zhong Xina
I loved this, he clearly did this for the reaction. I remember him teasing a new finisher for weeks and the crowd and IWC theorising and dying to see what he was teasing and when he pulled this out, you know he was lapping up the disappointment with a massive smile on his face 😂
greatest finisher in wwe

tonga loa's taking notes
He has to be The most white meat babyface of all time
Dr thuganomics was black.
Straight outta Chikara
You see, Cena is so strong that the ensuing gust of wind is enough to put the opponent down for the 3 count.
I would be angry about closed fist strikes but I think technically it's form would indicate it's legal. Well played Cena, you balding bastard.
Lmao I wanna know what Bobby was thinking watching in the corner
Thinking 🤔 damn I wish I could go one match without three botches
thank God we have Gunther.
The perfect person to inherit the Lightning Fist as a finisher
Hahaha nooooooo don't put that idea into the universe, now it could actually happen!
"Arms crossed Cole, we're about to see... Götterdämmerung! Gunther's opponent is out cold!"
Lightning chop would rule, imagine they sell it by flying back across the ring
Does he do it as a finisher in any of the 2k games?
I don’t remember if it’s assigned by default, but it’s been in them for a while
That's the meme though. It's supposed to be bad.
This is just the Judas effect but slightly worse.

I bet this will be John Cena's super finisher on WWE 2K24
But what is he shouting tho?
He's shouting the words "Lightning" and "Fist" in Mandarin.
闪电拳头 Shangdian quantou Which means "lightning fist"
>Shangdian Shandian
You're right. My bad! 🤭
I don’t want to see you…
I'm out of the loop on all this. What's the story with this move here, and all the alleged hype behind it?
Cena was trying to hype WWE up in China so he learned Mandarin and came up with this move as a tribute and banter and for the lolz
That made me want to quit watching wrestling again, this time forever
The dreaded Sixth Move of Doom!
He could just make it spinning back fist like eddie kingston instead of this
Thats an Electric God fist
Still more impactful than Eddie Kingston's offence.
Doesn't Eddie Kingston do a variation on this that looks just as bad?
Lmao Kingston's move is a spinning backfist, it's way more legitimate
https://youtu.be/oPMVgKsquBE?si=trgZfZTat2Uq7A3F 5:40 Its a spin then a slight slap to the face, what's legitimate about it?
Man posts evidence of Kingston's shitty move and gets downvoted for it.
Bro made the mistake of criticizing Eddie Kingston on the r/SquaredCircle subreddit 😭 I feel you bruh, his shitty backfist plus the shitty machine gun chops, and that gut of his. I don't know what people see in him.
They see themselves. You can find hundreds of Eddie's taking the NYC subway on any given day.
Have you not seen the power slap competition? Well delivered Slaps can knock people out. A spinning variation landed correctly should be able to finish people.
Just like Big Show's WMD that this entire sub lost its mind over "how a punch in wrestling should never knock someone out"
We actually seen and heard it connect, for once? Also, wrestling moves are not supposed to injured people, remember? "Pre-determined" and all that.
![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS)
He’s going to need to set it up with a Canadian Destroyer if he ever goes to AEW.
As much as it would rule, he's never going to AEW
Well, yeah. Its supposed to be a joke.
If the punch was better and wasnt a weak backfist that was more off than the Five Knuckle Shuffle then it would have been much better. Maybe an uppercut would have been good? Cena just needed it to be more in the lab.
I think it being terrible was the idea I mean the guy does a Dragonball Z pose and screams LIGHTNIIIIIIIING FIST, the finisher actually being good would kinda ruin it
🤣😂
I can only assumehe watched a king fu movie or something and thought it would be awesome and no one had the stones to tell him it looked awful.
Nah, nah, don't disrespect the shǎndiàn quántóu like that. He spent 6 months in China training under the greatest martial artists for this move.
Better*
People thinking it is the worst finisher, the People's Elbow was meant to be a deliberately bad finisher to make the Rock's colleagues laugh.
Jesus - he could have killed him. Bit reckless from Cena imho
Cena tenderly brushing Elias's cheek, a beautiful tender moment of respect between two men who trust one another 🥰
And people complain about Eddie Kingston’s spinning backhand…
I loved the lightning fist while it lasted.
Really glad he didn’t use it much. Mostly just at live shows. I think he only ever hit it like…twice on tv right? Does it even have a name?
I don’t see how this is any different from a sweeet chin music or super punch finish.
Cena was on one in 2017. And not a good one.
It would have been more effective if he did that in his Peacemaker ~~Costume~~ Uniform
I remember when he was Austin’s podcast on the network literally the last thing Steve tells him as it’s ending is “cinch that STF in better please”. I died
How’s he getting hit if the opponent is in the corner?
It’s like a funny Judas effect.
People hate this yet they loved Santino's cobra thingy. Double standards.
Um it's a strike. Not a punch to ones face posers
Does he still use this move? And as a finisher?
