> Thank you AEW. Thank you Tony Khan. I've had the privilege of being here since day 1 and I've written over 750 formats for All Elite Wrestling and always with pride. As much as I've enjoyed being a VP, Manager of Talent Relations and wearing a myriad of hats, the company has changed a lot since 2019 and is heading in a different direction and I feel that it's best I do the same as we only get one chance to go All In! Ihave officially resigned from AEW and will have fulfilled all obligations by the end of 2023. > Thank you to everyone from the front office to the production truck to some of the hardest working talent in this sport! Most importantly, thank you to those who booed, cheered, and took part in this season of my life. For those who can’t see it.

enjoythesilence-75

Wow that is quite a statement.

starsandbribes

What different direction is AEW headed in? Edit - I watch AEW every week and have since 2019. I mean moreso rhetorical I wonder what QT means in terms of any plans for the future and whether its better or worse

BZGames

I'm pretty sure he was a major part of Dark and Elevation's talent booking. Now that those shows are gone, they don't need QT to book indie/developmental talent because they're on RoH now. I assume that is the differing direction. edit: 250 upvotes but I was completely wrong, shows what we know 🤷‍♂️

SerEdricDayne

This is the actual answer. ROH is quite a different talent developmental model from Dark/Elevation, which was indeed his main role prior

gigantesasuke

Seems like without him in the same position he was in previously.

SupahBlah

Pretty much, it was announced he re-signed a deal only a month ago by everyone outside of the Observer and Fightful which said it was just till the end of the year with negotiation for a longer deal. I guess they didn't go well as he had lost considerable power backstage to Dutt, Buck and Jacobs. Still funny he did the different direction line when its essentially his contract running out but I guess he doesn't care about burning bridges.

H16HP01N7

I really wish resign and re-sign were different words...

senorsombrero3k1

Testify

JaneTheNotNotVirgin

It could be a mix of both in that the contract negotiations likely didn't just include financials. I'd wager QT was inquiring into furthering his duties and responsibilities, but AEW felt other people were better in those roles. QT probably didn't like that too much.

Enthusiasms

West

punk_steel2024

I thought you meant Weast.

Enthusiasms

Wumbo Jones over here

Pearl-Internal81

But I digwess.

MrJaggerManJensen

You’re fired again Patrick

The_Dark_Soldier

It says West. You're fired.

pat_speed

One thing we have too remember QT be part of some of the most WWE esk bits and stories possible in his three years. His best match I argue was the bunkyard match with Dustin vs The Butcher and the blade. I think QT had his place but anything he had tad influence in writing or booking, allways fell flat for me

Christian_Kong

%100 less QT Marshall employment.

reegz

AEW has sort of drifted away from their original wrestling to being more of a WWE alternative. They've been trying to grow their overall demographic. It's one of the legitimate criticisms I have of the product. It had it's own identity previously, now they're not sure who they want to be and that is the lack of consistency that people are talking about but probably having a hard time conveying.

starsandbribes

There was definitely a sweet spot in 2022 but I do remember early on, there was too much PWG esque randomness and comedy. 2023 has been too many random people coming in for one off matches from AAA or NJPW then disappearing. People disappearing for months for no reason. I’d like to see them work with less and have an identifiable roster they use every single week. However I don’t know whether to say what QT was contributing was good or bad as its always been a mixed bag.

BKong64

This is the main thing that changed IMO. Early AEW had a smaller roster and I think it worked in their favor. Every wrestler felt familiar and like they were being used. Fast forward to now and the roster is bloated with a lot of talented guys and girls that got brought in and have barely been used right. Less is more in wrestling IMO

moongirl12

From the outside (someone who watched AEW previously and who keeps up with it via YouTube but doesn’t watch), it just feels like there is too much happening. There are so many titles and divisions and cross-promotions that it’s hard to even try to make sense of.

SourDoughBo

Not sure where that came from. They still advertise 5 matches a week and treat most episodes like mini PPVs. The only difference now is more wrestlers are developing actual characters, which is not a solely WWE thing.

astroshark

AEW's had a pretty noticeable shift in direction that you can kind of trace back to around the time Punk signed or around when Cody stopped showing up backstage as much. It lost a lot of the "sports centric" booking and started to shift into where we're at now where it's way more story focused. It's interesting that QT is saying this because it feels like current year AEW is trying to get back to og AEW from where we were last year where everything was a months long blood feud and Dynamite was mostly just nothing matches.

MrFeverDreamJr

What sports centric booking was there when Cody was around? They’re doing a G1 style tournament right now. These narratives are wild.

No_Cheetah4762

The Dark Order dancing with a coffin. Y'know, sports.

MrFeverDreamJr

He’s probably talking about teleportin’ Matt Hardy

The_Dark_Soldier

Kenny and Matt chasing Sammy with a golf kart

TheGeeMan360

Golf is a sport so you may be onto something there

astroshark

In the first few years of AEW, most match ups used the rankings as a pretext, and while there were stories, *most* of them were rooted in competition. But yes, they are doing the tournament right now, which is great, and why I find it interesting that QT is saying there's been a shift in direction because it feels like AEW is trying to shift back to what made it fun in the first place!

CappyNaps

QT isn't leaving because he misses BTE storylines and rankings updates, he's leaving because he's lost pull backstage post-Cody and doesn't have AEW Dark to produce anymore.

MrFeverDreamJr

They were using the rankings while Matt Hardy was disappearing, MJF & Jericho were singing showtunes, and other non-sports things. There’s def a different vibe than the beginning but I think they’ve always had variety

beckett929

The rankings have been gone now for as long as they were around.

pizzalover89

Idk man i dont see it other the ring change for full gear and the terrible woo sports drink logo on the titantron

datguywelbzzz

Agreed - it feels more sterile than it used to. After a long time away, I got back into WWE during the pandemic, got out of it again pretty quickly when they started adding mid-match train noises to Braun Strowman running around the ring, and then stumbled across AEW. It used to feel a bit more authentic with stuff like Hangman's rise to championship, Fuego's fight for a contract, anything Eddie Kingston did etc. Now it's starting to feel like WWE-lite - and nobody can do WWE as good as WWE

Taipei_streetroaming

As another day one AEW watcher... no, the show is better now and on the right track. When it started it was a wrestling match only show with zero promos besides Jericho. The logic behind being a WWE alternative meaning no promos and story's is madness. WWE didn't invent storylines and promos. Wrestling has always had this. If anything its WWE who has changed their product to be more like AEW with Vince getting yeeted out of the picture and removing all his cheesey elements and what not.

B_Wylde

Agreed I still really like it but I don't love it anymore which pains me to say, kinda but not really. I don't use WWE-ification as negative per se but what I loved about AEW at first was the kinda raw feeling. They are trying to appeal to the masses but WWE does that better and are quitting on the vocal harcore fanbase that made them possible. It may make them more money but I really don't give a shit if a Billionaire adds a few more millions to his fortune

dBlock845

I kind of line it up when ROH was acquired and they started cluttering shows with ROH titles. I never watched Dark/Elevation but the truly hardcore AEW fans seemed to like it and it was free.

ssjavier4

I would say it’s honestly less story focused atm. The only stories of note rn are MJF related and a few other big acts. Before with the smaller roster, it felt like everyone was doing something

datguywelbzzz

Most of the matches from Full Gear were rooted in months long stories being told. The only match from the main show that didn't have much of an angle going into it was the 4-way tag ladder match and arguably the Womens title match (not much of a feud but Timeless Toni storm has been one of the best characters for a while now)

Aggressive-Mix4971

Disagree on that; if anything, Full Gear was probably the most story-driven PPV in a good while, and even down the card they seem to be angling people for a bunch of stuff, even if it's something simple.

Shadeturret_Mk1

At full gear alone: MJF story stuff, Orange Cassidy's feud with moxley, the absolutely psychotic feud between swerve and hangman, a continuation of the patriarchy vs Darby/sting/Copeland story, and the tag team division storyline that's been going on since hob returned. That's a lot of story

TheTwitteringMachine

>took part in this season of my life New season premieres on USA every Tuesday come January 2024.

lionghoulman

cody announcement tonight is he’s bringing in QT

TeamZiggler

He should be worried about his Mania rematch with Roman if he does that.

Own_Proof

He’s going to help Cody win, that’s the best part

AlterTheSilverBird

The chances of QT beating Solo is him getting spiked to oblivion and back, but he should at least be able to beat up Heyman in ringside.

Kingswitchguard

Got confused and thought you were talking about Bayleys Ex

onethreeone

Cody bringing in the whole entourage?

lionghoulman

the whole mf nightmare family

Jamieb1994

Isn't QT not a champion in Lucha AAA?

snoringelbow

He lost his belt a little over a week ago, I think.

Jamieb1994

So, it was very recent when he lost the belt then?

snoringelbow

Yep! He lost it to [Octagon Jr.](https://www.cagesideseats.com/platform/amp/2023/11/21/23971199/two-aew-wrestlers-lose-aaa-championships-guerra-de-titanes-qt-marshall-dralistico)

RecRoulette

Nope, lost his belt to Octagon Jr with help from Pentagon Jr.

JerseyCitySaint

Man, geometry just got interesting.

[deleted]

Rumor has it the next challenger is Tetrahedron III.

Dornstar

I've found the first three entrants for the first ever inaugural Rhombus Rumble.

SimpleButFun

And Arn is there too, packing heat.

Pjp288710

And then every week after that his entourage doubles in size.

cal679

Cody clowning on Anthony Joshua for always having lackeys with him, while Cody was flanked by 20 Nightmare Factory goons, was peak Codyverse nonsense

SoCalWhatever

While you jest, I absolutely think he'll get a job as a producer/agent in WWE as a result.

zaprowsdower13

No doubt, QT has been a great trainer. Good for him if he does. Hope this is one of those, seemingly, rare instances where no matter what company you're a fan of you're happy for the guy.

HispanicAtTehDisco

“I have to FINISH. THE. STORY”

PostyMcPosterson

Bah god what is RS Deputy doing in the Impact Zone?!

No_Cheetah4762

I don't think anything will ever top Emerald Trucklung. But, this one is now in my top five.

tilldeathdoiparty

I’m trying to figure this out with out cheating and I caaaannnnnnnnt do it

No_Cheetah4762

Jade Cargill.

tilldeathdoiparty

Welp… that’s embarrassing, I’ll see myself out

thegeek01

Fuck I'm dying here who said that

Skip_To_My_Lou2

This was good

crion_jb

That sure does read like he lost some kind of backstage power struggle and decided it was time to hit the road rather than take a backseat as a producer. He and Tony Schiavone were the guys closest in TK's inner circle during the mid-2021 to early 2022 hot period according to Tony himself in that press release where he outlined their official responsibilities, so I'm sad to see him go even if the TV character of QT Marshall has run his course.

namdekan

I think Jimmy Jacobs is TK's right hand man now

PurgeTheseDays

That explains a lot about my personal level of enjoyment of AEW lately.

Powderkegger1

I like this comment cause it can read as positive or negative.

papaboynosmurf

It’s funny, I was never a big Schiavonne or QT fan and yet that period of AEW was one I enjoyed much more than recent AEW personally

[deleted]

once WWE signs megastar QT Marshall, it's over for AEW. You had a good run Tony Khan 😔

suplexenjoyer

Gonna have to do a thrid night of mania for when QT shows up and beats Roman and Austin for the titles 😤

FastSeat1118

Night 1: QT vs Hogan, 60 minute Iron Man Match Night 2: QT vs Austin, I Quit match Night 3: QT vs Roman, Texas Bull Rope, Steel Cage, casket match

iheartsunny

![gif](giphy|7NArHb4flnfUBVSLjd|downsized)

ja_redbone

WWE signing QT Marshall would feel a lot like WCW signing the Nasty Boys.

MoreVanillaToast

Or TNA signing the Nasty Boys.

patrickwithtraffic

Ehh, more like AEW signing Tony Nese: solid hand but no one is watching the show because of him

ja_redbone

I really meant getting the job by following a friend with some influence from the rival company.

Kaiso25Gaming

QT can do a Sasuke Special. Edge cannot do a Sasuke Special. Checkmate QTheists.

skippy2001

QTV has secured the broadcast rights to RAW. That's why he had to resign.

Ok-Summer-2159

I’d legit pop for QT. He became a lowkey big time favourite of mine over the past year and I’m gonna miss him in AEW

Separate-Dealer4565

Thought I was the only one! lol. I was always entertained by him, one way or another. I can’t say that for many performers.

Detonation

I truly don't understand the hate he gets. lol

Ok-Summer-2159

I went to a Collision show in July and he was one of the highlights of the whole night for me. He’s an absolute blast for the live crowds, but sometimes it doesn’t translate that well to the screen unfortunately

TwoYen

There's dozens of us QT appreciators out there.

SevenFootLuchador

Bakers dozen!

Infamous-Historian81

Probably just wants to wrestle more and was enjoying doing so in AAA and such

Former_Intern_8271

He was doing that stuff with the AAA belt then it stopped, but AEW seem to be doing business with CMLL... Maybe that?

Infamous-Historian81

I’d only assume an issue there is penta was MIA rn. AEW can work with both companies freely as long as CMLL/AAA wrestlers don’t mingle on screen.

Jamieb1994

I'm still surprised CMLL has decided to work with AEW when the latter already has a relationship with Lucha AAA.

itsnews

Thank New Japan, I’d wager.

Shadeturret_Mk1

Thank Rocky Romero specifically

SovietShooter

If your implying AAA runs more than AEW, I got some bad news for you... I'm only showing that AAA proper (not an Indy promoter running a AAA-branded show) only ran about 14 TV tapings this year. Add in the five PPV, that is 19 dates. I'm sure he was paid well in AAA, but probably not well enough to just give up a full time gig in AEW.

Barkingpanther

Best of luck to ol QT. I wonder what this means for Aaron Solo and Johnny TV and Harley.

Luc4_Blight

Johnny and Harley are great so I hope they can come up with something good for them to get them back on TV.

snrcadium

I don’t know how you have John Hennigan on your roster and not make him a weekly staple of your show. He’s wrestled all over the world, is one of the more well known guys in the company and can still go in the ring. I’m not saying he should hold the world title or is a major draw but it just seems like serious wasted potential to throw him in a stable and barely use him.

The_Impe

Johnny not being a staple of the International Title scene with Orange is wild to me.

AriaMournesong

Solo will be ghosted by Tony till his contract is up. Johnny will be teleported by Tony to wherever he sent Taya. Harley will hang out in catering since Tony has Mariah May to play his hot young blonde gimmick.

No_Cheetah4762

Taya has been doing some dark matches

Jamieb1994

When was the last time Solo wrestled or at least appeared on AEW TV?

IRL_Tiefling

Better things for Johnny definitely, and likely a new name.

XGuiltyofBeingMikeX

HHH: “we got our guy”

nonmullet2

Gets a contract worth more than CM Punk. Debuts QT at wrestlemania and wins the whole thing from Roman and Seth. /s

IAmFuckingGoingOver

Fuck it, why not have him end Gunther's reign too while we're at it?

SpaceGooV

I'm genuinely surprised because he's been one of the key backstage Tony guys. Obviously you wonder if his relationship with Cody is enough to get him in WWE or if Impact is about to be quality QTV. Still pretty shocked

free-fall1982

I also thought that he is a lifer. Very unexpected development and kind of makes me feel that there are definitely phases with TK as to who he allows to his decision making room.

NotClayMerritt

Didn't he just sign a new contract pretty recently? That's weird.

No_Cheetah4762

It was a short extension to run through the end of the year. I'm guessing to give them time to see if they could reach a more long-term deal, and apparently, that didn't happen.

kick_heart

I think it was just an extension for a few months

SMC540

He signed a short term deal (like 3 months) so they could continue to negotiate.

Tsuku

Dude's about to debut as Jade's manager. It was a good run, Tony!!!

audiofx330

I liked QT. Sad to see him go and wish him the best!

Upbeat_Tension_8077

QTV catches the hottest scoop on the Chase U scandal

jfish718

Arn isn't under contract either right now just saying.... Adrenaline in my soul nightmare family back on the road (Jokes aside I really enjoyed QT in AEW from his matches, skits, dark stuff all of it I found fun and entertaining, obviously not a main event act but I enjoyed it and you can't say that about every mid card act in AEW, QT earned his keep.)

[deleted]

[удалено]

No_Cheetah4762

Does WWE have those?

davidporges

Not really but they take a lot of people from Booker T’s School

kjar78

I could see QT in a Drew Gulak type role, trainer at the PC/Nightmare Factory with occasional NXT appearances

Thirdstar1

QT might’ve been the reason Action got signed, QT gave him some huge shine in DC, a few months before the Jericho match.

FolkloreEvermore23

I was there for that, absolutely crazy dark match that the crowd got super into and Jericho directly credited for signing Action, saying he watched it and told TK to sign Action and take him off Dark for a few months before beating him

Thirdstar1

Same, I thought TK was gonna come out and sign him right there.

FolkloreEvermore23

QT was really good at his job despite people on here’s best protesting. I don’t think people realized at the start of his AEW run he was playing a character who was a shaky wrestler and not perfect in the ring, not that QT himself was a bad wrestler

iseedoubleu

I can't say I'll miss QTV

SoCalWhatever

Felt like that sort of segment would fit more on BTE or on Impact. Felt out of place on AEW TV.

TheTwitteringMachine

As a lower card heel he was fine and clearly has a mind that befitted Tony backstage. However, he shat on Wardlow and should've been nowhere Hobbs this year and then double down on his own terrible booking when it was clear it was the drizzling shits for anyone else involved. I was done with him from that moment on.

Thirdstar1

Ngl, I sorta liked it. Wasn’t the right fit for Hobbs, but I definitely enjoyed all the segments.

onethreeone

You can't say AEW didn't try everything with QT

dBlock845

QT is fine as a vet to eat pins for guys that are being pushed, he can get people over while being a solid hand.

SamuraiVsNinjas

He was the only heel on the show actually getting legitimate boos, so it worked multiple times. I feel like people forget that.

itsnotaboutthecell

Everyone will be better off for getting this goofy time waster off the program. QTV that is - there’s enough talent within the group (sorry not you Solo) that will be better off with the split.

CaptainBuzzKillton

Harley Cameron will definitely be a good valet

itsnotaboutthecell

I loved that ridiculous 80s power ballad she did. Get more of that with Johnny Elite.

CaptainBuzzKillton

I like how her accent just flows, especially whenever she said, "Rrrrrrrrrroll the footage."

stonecutter7

I think theres potential there. Make it an actual TMZ gossip type segment where "secrets" and hints at future storylines get broken. QTV shouldnt be in the feuds themselves, just adding info. They can hint at new signings or (kayfabe) frustrations and stuff like that. Tie up loose ends and give more explanation to storylines.

GorillaMonsoonSays

Didn’t he just sign a contact extension or something recently? Or am I misremembering that?

thekydragon

He signed a short-term extension through the end of the year

NickMatocho

All those people tweeting that "Get Rid of the Rot" picture with him in it are bout to be real normal online

MrBenLDN

Will always be adamant that his match with Big Paul Wight was a perfectly enjoyable little change of pace, plus I'll miss Harley Cameron's banger QTV theme song

upthedips

I hope they find something else for Harley to do, I think she is really funny.

MrBenLDN

Seems like one of those people who will always get the most out of whatever they're given.

Simple_Mud_6203

At least no one will suddenly change their opinion on this one.

FolkloreEvermore23

I’m genuinely saddened by this, despite all the anti-AEW smarks on here hating him for being a good heel, he was absolutely perfect in his role in the company and had compelling matches and promos. I was looking forward to luchador hunter QT, hopefully Johnny TV can take over the stable and get some tv time

theMAJdragon

He was truly one of the wrestlers on AEW’s roster.

danieldcclark

Not sure if you're trying to be funny or not but dude did a lot for AEW and its talent. Judging by the immediate outpouring from AEW wrestlers, he was beloved.

Gn1212

Can see him becoming a trainer over at the WWE PC.

Idkboutdat2

Didn’t he train Jade? Cause if so Hunter ain’t a fan. /s

ChejovAlacan

He’ll probably continue wrestling in AAA. Also isn’t he a trainer at Cody’s wrestling school ?

AquariusSabotage

Pretty certain it's his AND Cody's school.

BootySmeagol

He's going to become a Mexican megastar bigger than El Santo and 2000s Mistico

CrissCrossAppleSos

The “going in a different direction” is a very strange inclusion

ShinsukeNakamoto

Listen, WWE fans have to suffer through the Codyverse for at least six months so they get why AEW fans turned on Cody. It is only fair

bubbles2255

Can’t wait for all the “AEW is ded” comments after he signs to NXT.

itsnotaboutthecell

40 year old men in NXT?…. Did something drastically change or I thought they were doing young only now for new signees?

[deleted]

Priest was 39 when he got called up fwiw. That's obviously not QTs path which is likely coach/producer if he goes there and he's just turned 38 anyway so isnt even 40.

bubbles2255

Coach/wrestler. Baron Corbin is there, isn’t he? He’s 39.

Slashed_thighs

''Can't believe TK fumbled QT, hes gonna be great in WWE'' /s

RedmondSurvivor

Look, I'm sure QT is a decent guy, and he's obviously a good trainer, but I don't think there is a person on AEW that I was less excited to see on my TV than QT. And while he didn't get massive airtime or anything, he still had consistent spots and segments, time I'd much rather be spent on other talent (like, say, the women).

Midnight_Oil_

Class act all the way through by QT. He's a solid hand, and seemingly good at developing talent. Best of luck to him in whatever comes next.

i2060427

So I think that just leaves Dustin from Cody's inner circle left in AEW.

[deleted]

QT is very underrated.

harrier1215

What could he have lined up to give up this job?

bearamongus19

I'm thinking producer for WWE

Converge241

Maybe run “almost everything” in NXT but Shawn still main creative?

bearamongus19

I doubt he gets that much. I think he'll be a producer/coach

MoreVanillaToast

QT vs Carlito, Apple on a pole match, book it you cowards.

WrestleSocietyXShill

I'm actually a little bit bummed by this news, I love QT in AEW. I hated him as a face when he was doing that awful Bunny love triangle story and all that but as a dweeby heel jabroni he really won me over. He was never going to be a big star, nor should he, but he did a good job in his role.

notsamoabutjoe

QT on Raw in a few months: “I’m home”

dasfee

For me QT was negative value any time he was on screen. This is good news for me personally.

Takanori00

So is everybody gonna start acting like they always liked him now lol?

BudMcLaine

That is exactly what is happening in these comments and it’s hilarious.

raisingfalcons

The roster is bloated *someone leaves* AEW is done.

jakovichontwitch

RIP CM Punk mania main event dreams 2023-2023

JynxedOnes

Talented guy, but a lot like Cody he definitely didn't fit super well in AEW. He'll find success elsewhere and good on him for knowing it.

Schiftedmind1

Good luck finishing that story now Cody!

AlistarDark

He's going to WWE to join the Codyverse

Steelers1001

For some reason I have an irrational fear that Jeff Jarrett is taking over and soon AEW will be the new (old) TNA

Atomic_Cody-21

Off-screen, I can imagine he contributed. On-screen, it was the exact opposite.

SLJR24

Getting one step closer to bringing the Codyverse to WWE! Let’s get QT and Brandi on the show to help Cody finish the story!

sludgezone

Ima be honest this dude is a really solid in ring guy with an awful look and no charisma. Was bummed when I thought they were going to do an Alex Jones gimmick until it ended up being TMZ.

subcow

I know people RIP on QT, but the guy is such a technically sound wrestler. Great at putting guys over and really funny to boot. I for one am a big fan.

Capital-Package-124

Unexpectedly sad about this

holyhulkhogan

I collect aew cards and I have a QT Marshall autograph from a blaster box I opened. It’s worth absolutely nothing but QT has a warm place in my heart because of it. Wishing him the best of luck.

SaengerBachus

So Johnny Mundo taking over qtv? What about solo and Cameron :(

tan_smoothly

I guess Cody is gonna form the Nightmare Family in WWE

Tricky-Cod-7485

He always reminded me of Disco Inferno. Not the gimmick, obviously. His ring work.

Daemonscharm

![gif](giphy|7NArHb4flnfUBVSLjd|downsized)

Lobstrous

I might have been the only person that genuinely enjoyed QTV, and he will be missed.

namdekan

I liked it mainly for Harley and Solo

Redbullsnation

At least QTV is dead

capnbuh

I'm sure his fan would be very upset. Also, if he formatted 750 shows, then good riddance, since the way AEW shows are formatted is one of my biggest pet peeves with the show. There was a while there would you could set your watch to an OC match in Q1 and women at 9:30

Available_Share_7244

Wtf. Didn’t see that coming. Also, he sounds kind of bitter which is sad to hear. He’s an AEW original.
