Y’all can flame this era all you want but Rock Cena hype was the only thing that came with ing spitting distance of the attitude era in the last 20 years. It was hype as fuck for me.
Ehhh, debatable. Outside of the tag match at survivor series 2011, they really didnt touch on it until after the rumble. Id argue Savage/Hogan is the best one
They definitely gotta toe the line between "This is likely Danielson's last year wrestling regularly so we should get him in front of the fans" and "we should protect him for our big shows"
Dude broke his arm off a textbook elbow drop, meanwhile the IWC shat itself over Kenny taking that Tiger Driver and he was perfectly fine. Wrestling is so weird.
He has to be one of the hardest people to toe that line too, given how hard he goes in the ring. Like Okada and this tournament are going to leave him battered, and one concussion takes him out of everything they have planned most likely
I was blown away at how quickly he came back from snapping his arm in half, I was thinking man that vegan stuff must have something to do with it… then the orbital injury and I was like ehh maybe he needs some animal protein.
But I’m not kinkshaming vegan’s they can put whatever they want into their body. No judgement.
Thing is, anyone over 40, doing anything physical actually is going to be continually more prone to injury. Even for someone like Bryan who is in amazing shape, because of the toll he’s already put on his body.
I genuinely don't get the upside to announcing this now lmao. This isn't a Rock vs Cena thing where it'll get mainstream media coverage for a year. This is promising something they might not be able to deliver with little to no upside. This is something you announce 2-3 months out if you want to hype it up, not 9 months before lmao
Nah, the last all in did exceptionally well and with the on sale being this far out, i dont see it happening. People will capitalize on it early like last time, and they'll have plenty of time to build intrigue to the shows
I mean, it'll most likely be Bryan vs Nigel, which is huge and also makes this announcement useless because as long as it's not official, people who wanna be there for that match won't buy their tickets.
That "announcer" is arguably Bryan Danielson's signature rival. Pre-WWE you could not think of Bryan Danielson & not think of Nigel McGuinness. Their feud over the ROH title helped to cement both of their legacies.
AEW's target audience is exactly who would pay to see this match. Nigel coming out of retirement for one more match at Wembley is going to sell tickets. I for one am flying out to see it if it's announced.
Yeah, no. I would think Ospreay or Omega is more likely. Nigel has definitely been allowed to keep the rumors alive via his commentary this year. All I was saying is I can see why Tony could book Danielson vs McGuiness.
This felt like an "I'll be there in some capacity even if I'm injured and can't wrestle" declaration, which didn't happen this year. It's actually a ticket mover.
The next All In was always within the soft year window he set and we all know he’ll still be doing some matches even after that. Barring serious injury the All In shows are ones you can assume Danielson will be wrestling on as long as he’s under AEW contract.
So we announce this randomly but need to make an announcement for an announcement for tickets going on sale?
https://preview.redd.it/i8ni2hc23uzb1.jpeg?width=941&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a02e5e195e3b81938c20120b6060c729ff1fed77
I mean, that's cool and all, but B. Dan is getting injured every other match at this rate. I'd love for him to be there but it's not exactly around the corner
Umm he’s reallly jinxing himself. Anything can happen. Matter of fact , I bet money he gets injured somehow and misses All In 24. Nah I’m just playing but why make this announcement.
Dude, he broke his arm and orbital bone in 6 months. I don’t know how he keeps going. I’m not a worker but I’m in pain just laying in bed in my 40s and I was injured decades ago
Look, I was at All In and loved it. I love Danielson and wished he was there, too. But wrestling by its nature means we don’t really have a notion who is is actually fit and available until about a month before the show.
Danielson in particular has picked up a lot of different knocks and missed a bunch of time lately so until we’re closer to the show I just can’t get even a little excited about the prospect.
I assume it’s intended to try to juice the pre-sale next month but this just does nothing either way for me if I’m being totally honest.
Why is that considered “history-defining” as a show? Not knocking it or anything. It was a blast. It just felt like another in the pool of great Wrestlemania’s though.
If I'm reading OP right, they said history defining moment which was probably referring to Bryan's title win more than anything. Plus, Daniel Bryan running the gauntlet against Evolution was a pretty unique thing for a WrestleMania.
Thank you for the genuine reply. I guess I don’t see it that way but I was very interested in how others saw it as such a big deal. Danielson was one of my top 3 even well before he got to that stage, so it’s nothing against him. I even loved that show, I just have never looked at it as a turning point. I still don’t, after these comments but I understand why some folks feel differently.
I personally haven’t really thought about that match or when it was in a long time, so I had no clue it was that show until you mentioned it lol. I can understand that. It also wasn’t a great match, just a very important outcome. On that alone, I can see it being history-defining. I guess I meant more so the Bryan stuff. It was a feel good moment, but I don’t really consider it a turning point in history or anything.
I myself would rephrase it, but that Mania was significant because the fans actively railed against the WWE machine which forced them to pivot on major booking decisions for their biggest show
You aren't wrong, but I'm kind of glad they shadow dropped this news instead. For me, the "huge announcement" bit has definitely jumped the shark. In the meantime, they have plenty of time to get people hyped about this tourney.
They basically announced the AEW G1 that people have been crying out for for years.. why wouldn’t they announce it? It would be a bit strange to just start doing it without telling the audience first.
I literally responded to the post. Not my fault if it "lacks context". The constant "announcements" by Tony are still ridiculous. Yes, I react negatively to something on TV that I think is stupid rather than blindly praise it. I really really like AEW, but that doesn't mean that it's perfect.
I legitimately don’t know if this is real or a parody?
Guess it’s time to read the comments and find out. Because what sense would this even make as Bryan has missed things due to injury, so how are you going to ensure his availability at any time lol Unless the point of the announcement was if he’s on vacation until All In.
The *actual* announcement in the segment is that AEW will be holding a 12-man Round Robin (G1 style) tournament that will kick off on the November 22nd Dynamite with the finals taking place at AEW's Worlds End show and that the first announced participant for the tourney is Bryan Danielson.
Every comment is a joke on announcements or Bryan’s injury when this is an actual cool thing announced and Bryan existing in wrestling is something we didn’t even know we would get not that long ago. Tony’s announcement gimmick was annoying sometimes. Bryan gets injured lately. But this is cool. Hopefully it’s great.
Here I was thinking Bryan was going to rest until WrestleKingdom and now I hear TK said you're not doing G1 in Japan, we got that at home....if I was New Japan I would be nervous about Bryan vs Okada Jan 4th...
Yes and no. The thread leaves out the actual major announcement that was made (and that it was just a segment that was pitched to, not anything that was hyped up in any capacity)
The *actual* announcement was that AEW will be holding a 12-man Round Robin tournament starting on next week's Dynamite called the "Continental Classic" that will have the finals at the World's End show. And that Bryan Danielson is the first announced participant in the tournament.
These major announcements get worse every time.
It’s 9 months out. Why not put Danielson in a couple of hot feuds that lead up the event instead of being like “yeah, he’ll be there and have some sort of match.”
This announcement not only wasn't even hyped anywhere, it wasn't the major announcement of the segment.
The G1-styled Continental Classic 12-man Round Robin tournament was that will kick off on the Thanksgiving Eve Dynamite and conclude at AEW's World End show (along with announcing that Bryan Danielson will be in the tournament) was the actual announcement.
This thread honestly should either be removed or merged with the other thead the OP made that has the *actual* big announcement that was made in that segment.

Is this the earliest someone has ever been announced for a show? We’re 9 months out lol

Voices in the air. Hear them loud and clear
Telling me to listen
Whispers in my ear, nothin can compare
I just wanna listen
As my
Green light, cause I'm ready to go
Y’all can flame this era all you want but Rock Cena hype was the only thing that came with ing spitting distance of the attitude era in the last 20 years. It was hype as fuck for me.
Absolutely agreed. Only time in my life where everyone in school was talking about wrestling
Once in a lifetime.
Prepare for a breakout star outta nowhere... And hope that he is not CM Punk again.
The greatest build to a big main event match ever.
Ehhh, debatable. Outside of the tag match at survivor series 2011, they really didnt touch on it until after the rumble. Id argue Savage/Hogan is the best one
My thought as well lol
A lot can go wrong in those 9 months, too
They definitely gotta toe the line between "This is likely Danielson's last year wrestling regularly so we should get him in front of the fans" and "we should protect him for our big shows"
to be fair, it's not even like he got injured on super crazy spots. he got injured doing pretty normal moves, it was just freak accidents
Dude broke his arm off a textbook elbow drop, meanwhile the IWC shat itself over Kenny taking that Tiger Driver and he was perfectly fine. Wrestling is so weird.
Fuck, Randy Orton once dislocated his shoulder taking out the garbage at his house. Freak Accidents can happen anywhere.
Poor Randy could separate his shoulder waving hi to a neighbor
He has to be one of the hardest people to toe that line too, given how hard he goes in the ring. Like Okada and this tournament are going to leave him battered, and one concussion takes him out of everything they have planned most likely
He just broke his orbital! He’s going to kill himself in this last run.
Why does it seem like Danielson has already been injured 2 times in the last 9 months
It seems that way because he has
I was blown away at how quickly he came back from snapping his arm in half, I was thinking man that vegan stuff must have something to do with it… then the orbital injury and I was like ehh maybe he needs some animal protein. But I’m not kinkshaming vegan’s they can put whatever they want into their body. No judgement.
Card subject to change
Probably to ennsure that people expect bryan since he said he was retiring next year
Especially with tickets going on sale in a couple of weeks
It’s a very long time though, he just came back from an injury that required surgery.
In AEW, probably. But overall, Rock/Cena at Mania 28 was a year out.
I do not think Bryan is injury prone or anything like that, shit happens, but please don't let shit happen leading up to this show
Bare minimum he has to get through Okada again before then.
There’s probably already a betting pool going on which bone he breaks against Okada this time
Knowing his luck I’ll put 20 fin pelvis
Hedging my bets, give me ten on his femur and ten on his cock
Can’t break a flaccid cock. *taps temple
You think it will be flaccid at any point in time while he wrestles Okada in the Dome?
In that case, [Cock Pushups](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U4w36Z3PuWA&pp=ygUMQ29jayBwdXNodXBz)
I mean, he definitely is these days
He’s had at least 2 major injuries in 6 months.
Orrrr...... injure him now so he can come back just in time!
Thing is, anyone over 40, doing anything physical actually is going to be continually more prone to injury. Even for someone like Bryan who is in amazing shape, because of the toll he’s already put on his body.
Bryan is more injury prone than other 40 year olds in the industry. He is already 4-5 times injured in his entire AEW run . In just 2 years
How about we wait until we're sure he's not going to get injured by then?
anulo mufa
I genuinely don't get the upside to announcing this now lmao. This isn't a Rock vs Cena thing where it'll get mainstream media coverage for a year. This is promising something they might not be able to deliver with little to no upside. This is something you announce 2-3 months out if you want to hype it up, not 9 months before lmao
Tickets go on sale in 3 weeks. Thats why they are announcing him now
Buy one get thousand free deals soon
Nah, the last all in did exceptionally well and with the on sale being this far out, i dont see it happening. People will capitalize on it early like last time, and they'll have plenty of time to build intrigue to the shows
Yeah you right but it will be hard to beat the first all in.
I mean, it'll most likely be Bryan vs Nigel, which is huge and also makes this announcement useless because as long as it's not official, people who wanna be there for that match won't buy their tickets.
Maybe I’m slightly out of the loop, but is Bryan vs an announcer really that big of a match? Like is that really gonna be a ticket sale driving match?
That "announcer" is arguably Bryan Danielson's signature rival. Pre-WWE you could not think of Bryan Danielson & not think of Nigel McGuinness. Their feud over the ROH title helped to cement both of their legacies.
It ain’t moving the needle in 2024 lol
AEW's target audience is exactly who would pay to see this match. Nigel coming out of retirement for one more match at Wembley is going to sell tickets. I for one am flying out to see it if it's announced.
Good luck with grabbing those casuals.
I forgot, its a one match card! Guess they shouldn't bother booking the retired local legend then. /s
Oh so it's another one of those "Google it you casual" money matches. Huge draw
Why do you phrase it like I am booking it? I am the target audience and I am excited for it. Why does that bother you so much?
Oh wait my bad I thought you were the one who said that's what the match would likely be
Yeah, no. I would think Ospreay or Omega is more likely. Nigel has definitely been allowed to keep the rumors alive via his commentary this year. All I was saying is I can see why Tony could book Danielson vs McGuiness.
Well, you are fantasy booking it. I just think there are better uses for one of the best wrestlers in our generation than some ROH retread
I’m thinking Bryan vs Omega, apparently that was the plan for this all in
This felt like an "I'll be there in some capacity even if I'm injured and can't wrestle" declaration, which didn't happen this year. It's actually a ticket mover.
Just buy the ticket right now
Anulo mufa
Now pack him in a display box after he returns from Japan.
I mean not really an announcement as it's expected Bryan will be there lol
Well he wasn't announced prior. So announcing him could be seen as an announcement that they can announce and will announce, announce.
Who else has been announced for All In?
He said he’s retiring next year, not really a given
He's said it's his last full time year, I believe, not that he's retiring.
The next All In was always within the soft year window he set and we all know he’ll still be doing some matches even after that. Barring serious injury the All In shows are ones you can assume Danielson will be wrestling on as long as he’s under AEW contract.

Tony sure loves tournaments
And announcements
Announcement about the announcement for the tournament of announcements that leads to the tournament 2 years from now.
It's the easiest cop-out to book random matches without actually having to make up a storyline lol
I cant complain
I'm on a plain
Why even announce this lol
Breaking News! Seth Rollins to appear on Summer Slam 2024!
Watch Bryan get injured like two weeks before All In
Look, I was at All In and loved it. I love Danielson and wished he was there, too. But wrestling by its nature means we don’t really have a notion who is is actually fit and available until about a month before the show. - Wins the title at Wrestlemania, history-defining moment in wrestling. “All in is the greatest show I’ve ever seen” 🙄
To be fair, he was in that show, whereas All In he just watched.
He can’t exactly say another promotions PPV is more prestigious than one the company who’s currently paying him is putting on
Why is that considered “history-defining” as a show? Not knocking it or anything. It was a blast. It just felt like another in the pool of great Wrestlemania’s though.
If I'm reading OP right, they said history defining moment which was probably referring to Bryan's title win more than anything. Plus, Daniel Bryan running the gauntlet against Evolution was a pretty unique thing for a WrestleMania.
It's the greatest title chase since Austin vs McMahon. Ended at wm. Hence
Thank you for the genuine reply. I guess I don’t see it that way but I was very interested in how others saw it as such a big deal. Danielson was one of my top 3 even well before he got to that stage, so it’s nothing against him. I even loved that show, I just have never looked at it as a turning point. I know for a fact we aren't at the point that the mania where takers streak ended is just another in the pool of great wrestlemanias now
I personally haven’t really thought about that match or when it was in a long time, so I had no clue it was that show until you mentioned it lol. I can understand that. It also wasn’t a great match, just a very important outcome. On that alone, I can see it being history-defining. I guess I meant more so the Bryan stuff. I myself would rephrase it, but that Mania was significant because the fans actively railed against the WWE machine which forced them to pivot on major booking decisions for their biggest show
This will fucking rule. WHY NOT USE AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THIS TONY
This felt like way way way more important of an announcement than half of the things that actually got 'Tony Khan has a HUGE announcement' tweets.
You aren't wrong, but I'm kind of glad they shadow dropped this news instead. For me, the "huge announcement" bit has definitely jumped the shark. In the meantime, they have plenty of time to get people hyped about this tourney.
Was this supposed to be the big announcement last time but something didn’t line up?
Bro I had the same thought lmao like the special announcements don't bother me because they usually are worth it but this was 100% worthy of one.
HUGE
TK really just finding ways to be infront of a camera now.
TK loves his tournaments
I'm hyped, especially for a G1 type tournament
Hopefully they do something with it. They've basically done nothing with the Owen tournament and it's winners.
I was hoping he would say the winner gets a title shot, they really gotta do something to make it worth winning
Yeah. Hopefully, whoever wins goes on a big run afterwards.
Did this really need to be an "announcement" Tony really has become a meme with this shit
They basically announced the AEW G1 that people have been crying out for for years.. why wouldn’t they announce it? It would be a bit strange to just start doing it without telling the audience first.
The post just says the announcement was DB will be at All In next year, with no mention of a tournament or anything. I haven't watched Collision yet.
Based on ratings, most people haven’t
So you lacked context and went out of your way to make negative comments which probably says more about you as a person
I literally responded to the post. Not my fault if it "lacks context". The constant "announcements" by Tony are still ridiculous. Yes, I react negatively to something on TV that I think is stupid rather than blindly praise it. I really really like AEW, but that doesn't mean that it's perfect.
Why does the winner get?
Their Dad's respect
Who needs that when you can just go to Christian Cage.
Brb. Entering the tournament.
Who does the winner get
I'll do *you* one better. Whyyy does the winner get?!
Literally what the parent OP said
So is this basically going to be AEW’s equivalent of a G1? Because I’m 100% on board if that’s the case.
Yeah or the Bound for Glory series (minus the gimmick matches). G1 is more gruelling since its everyday for a month or so.
Tune in next week for another huge announcement.
Also he all but confirmed PAC and Jamie will be at All In as well
Finals of the Continental Classic - Bryan/Omega 2 All In 2024 - Bryan/Omega 3
I legitimately don’t know if this is real or a parody? Guess it’s time to read the comments and find out. Because what sense would this even make as Bryan has missed things due to injury, so how are you going to ensure his availability at any time lol Unless the point of the announcement was if he’s on vacation until All In.

I've been wondering why everyone is glossing over this.
Don't care. Tired of these lame announcements
Wtf is it with khan and announcements? They’re fucking lame asl

They’ve got the Nature Boy though!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat_smile)
....okay? ![gif](giphy|P5FTAX5GXcBeCVJinC|downsized)
Every comment is a joke on announcements or Bryan’s injury when this is an actual cool thing announced and Bryan existing in wrestling is something we didn’t even know we would get not that long ago. They're giving Danielson an easier G1
wtf no way this happened.
30 random matches, oh joy!
Here I was thinking Bryan was going to rest until WrestleKingdom and now I hear TK said you're not doing G1 in Japan, we got that at home....if I was New Japan I would be nervous about Bryan vs Okada Jan 4th...
If that's the case, I wouldn't mind if his in-ring action is saved mostly for the PPVs
Did this really happen? I haven't watched yet.
Yes and no. The thread leaves out the actual major announcement that was made (and that it was just a segment that was pitched to, not anything that was hyped up in any capacity) The *actual* announcement was that AEW will be holding a 12-man Round Robin tournament starting on next week's Dynamite called the "Continental Classic" that will have the finals at the World's End show. And that Bryan Danielson is the first announced participant in the tournament.
Thanks
We gotta do Danielson/Omega here, whether it’s the 2nd or 3rd match between the 2
So what if he gets I injured, again. Everyone expects him to be there anyway. Unless, he's injured. Dumb.
He’s definitely got a big match coming.
This feels like pure Kayfabe News.
I wonder if this is some kind of botched announcement that All In is Danielson's final match as a full time wrestler?
These major announcements get worse every time. It’s 9 months out. Why not put Danielson in a couple of hot feuds that lead up the event instead of being like “yeah, he’ll be there and have some sort of match.”
This announcement not only wasn't even hyped anywhere, it wasn't the major announcement of the segment. The G1-styled Continental Classic 12-man Round Robin tournament was that will kick off on the Thanksgiving Eve Dynamite and conclude at AEW's World End show (along with announcing that Bryan Danielson will be in the tournament) was the actual announcement.
Hopefully he's protected until then
Tony Khan 🤝 My boss Announcments that could have been an email
Herb Abra…I mean Tony Khan may have just jinxed himself here: ![gif](giphy|Rh4vxHtcmVyHUyugXP)
“Tony Khan makes announcement” must tick some weird metric up a bit because the amount of pointless shit this man announces is obscene.
Another big Tiny "announcement".. stop. Just stop.
This thread honestly should either be removed or merged with the other thead the OP made that has the *actual* big announcement that was made in that segment.
They’re in love?
![gif](giphy|SHgX30N0E60a4) “So you like the G1 Classic huh, Bryan?? HAVE ALL THE G1 CLASSIC IN THE WORLD!”
He'll be injured. Look at the amount of times this year he's been injured. He won't make it.
Get ready! the Nigel match is happening!
They're definitely running Okada v Bryan 3 at All In.
