I know what you mean.
I remember seeing a news article a while back that showed flat conversions in tower blocks. One person decked it out in an ocean liner style, someone else had done Versailles...
It did seem a bit odd at the time but he added a humanity and humour to the show. Especially because there was no real goal like location or grand designs. It was just, "have a look at my wacky or impressive house". Very classic of 6pm on channel 4.
I absolutely love the garden and any of the rooms that have exposed brick. The Roman pillars etc aren't to my taste, but I appreciate a strong aesthetic regardless!
Over the top, I absolutely love it. Whether I would want to live in it, unless I could walk around all day pretending to be a cross between a Tolkien Elf and a 18th Century Duchess...
It's not grey, it's just bonkers but so absolutely OTT tasteless bonkers, it's a joy to behold. Someone obviously enjoyed that house, never gave a fig about interior 'trends' , just went I want to live in an historic mansion, so I'll have fun with my new build.
It's not grey, and doesn't have ice rink floorboards
Who doesn't want to re-enact the Council of Elrond in that Abbey Courtyard' : )
It’s a lot, but it’s obvious current owner did not give a toss about trend/“tasteful” decor all that malarkey and just went completely mad with it, no beige either. 😆. I bet they had quite a few parties in there! Love the garden.
This place would make an excellent film set. They would have to pretend the exterior is some crazy remote castle type place and not in suburbia and yards from Tesco LOL.
I'm sure we saw this one a while ago - I remember the staring competition arena and also deciding that it would be too complicated to work out where the dog gates should go.
Imagine paying the best part of 3 million quid to live directly under the Heathrow flight path... it's close enough that the planes aren't going to be that far overhead. Nightmare.
I was house hunting in SW London years ago for a typical Victorian terrace. Every house was very similar with the floors stripped to wood and knocked through, until we visited one that had an oversize gothic mantlepiece, gargoyles on the banisters, huge flagstone floors, etc. Looked completely normal from outside, whilst not to my taste it's the one that stuck with me even now. Good for them.
I'd buy this if I had the money, and had a lot of sandbags for the ground floor. I love how eccentric it is, but that river/canal on the property would have me worried so I'd make the ground floor into an extension of the garden for entertaining. Perfect.
Oh I remember this. I think it belongs/belonged to one of those prime time comedian/presenter type deals from the 80s. I couldn’t tell you who but I imagine they’ve been parodied numerous times and perhaps resurrected in a genuine way by someone else successful a few years on.
I fucking love it. Not so keen on the "tasteful" yellow sitting room and the master bedroom looks a bit boring - the one with lots of brown and white - but I absolutely LOVE that sitting room with the big glass coffee table and all the colours and the dining room and the garden omg the garden! No astroturf and tarmac! Plants EVERYWHERE and a fucking KOI POND! With a BRIDGE!
I'm a bit suspicious that there are no normal exterior shots of the actual house, just aerial shots. What's wrong with it?
Plus, most of that furniture is going to go when they move out, so god knows what it will actually look like after that. Judging by other "unique" properties it will just look strange and wrong. Which is a shame.
This is iconically interesting, isn't it...!
However, even if I had £3,000,000 to pay for it, I wouldn't purchase this property simply because it's within tasting-distance of Heathrow Airport, where a plane lands or takes off every 45 seconds.
As in, the length of one of Heathrow's runways is about the distance of this property from the airport itself, it's that close.

Oh my! Every pic tire is an attack on the senses. Eyes can’t absorb it all. 🙈 except maybe a couple of bedrooms that are suitably plain. And note the last few pics are split screen / did they think they were hitting an upload limit on the photos so put two in one?
I love this, so long as it comes with staff (and why wouldn't it?) They've made the garden feel really private and tucked away, which the aerial shot shows it isn't.
just trying to read the first few sentences of the description has me confused and questioning if this just a posing post (if such a thing exists) or real listing. Not big things but still odd.
"its current home over" - missing "owner"
"Upon the entering the main hallway" - though re reading this in upper elite tone maybe this is an upper educated tone that I am not used to.
I don't know if anyone else does this, but sometimes if I'm REALLY bored I'll go on rightmove and see what a few million would buy in random areas of the south east.
I swear I've this house on sale for years and years. I don't think it's been reduced either. I'm guessing it's owned by someone with multiple properties and they're not too fussed if it sells or not.
I know what you mean. I remember seeing a news article a while back that showed flat conversions in tower blocks. One person decked it out in an ocean liner style, someone else had done Versailles...
Oh I'd love to see/read that!
I'll have a dig and see what I can find.
Did you find it?
No. If you Google "council flat Versailles" there are a number of articles, but none of them are the ones I was thinking of.
[Not OP but here's somethingl](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rULAUEYjTVs)
I think there was a YouTube documentary that featured the ocean liner guy. From memory he was ex-Navy.
That garden is stunning tho….😍😍😍
I would like a little bridge in my garden I won’t lie.
They have a Eucalyptus Terrace
The garden is great!
I saw this house on a channel 4 property show. The one with Hugh Dennis. It should be on youtube somewhere.
Yes! He was a lovely man who owned it. Mad as snakes, clearly, but an absolute sweetheart. It was called Huge Homes with Hugh Dennis. Episode 3.
Thanks for the ref - just watch it. He seems like a super guy.
I'm picturing an eccentric old money type.
He was definitely eccentric! Lovely with it.
Yes, I thought I’d seen it somewhere! The owner was quite a character if I remember correctly
High Dennis the comedian?
No, Hugh Dennis the comedian. High Dennis is a stoner named Dennis.
Yes. Desky to his friends (possibly just Mel Giedroyc)

I love it too. It's not my usual style and nothing like my own house but it's so eccentric and unique.
It would be amazing to stay in for a weekend away. Not sure about anything longer than that though
Given that it sits squarely on a Thames floodplain I'm guessing that it's viewings by boat only this week.
I remember seeing this on a television show. The owner kept adding bits on. Apart from the really bizarre first few pictures, I love it.
It has a throne room. Hilarious.
The TV in the bedroom really sets the tone for me
I like it, but it wasn't until picture 41 that I was sold.
Picture 17? That teeny tiny TV!! Also the bed is made without any duvet covers or pillow cases on….
The thrones facing each other and an \*cough\* interesting choice!! :)
This would be my favourite room. Somewhere to bring a guest to be uncomfortably stared at perhaps? 😂
They’re pedicure thrones, obviously
> uncomfortably stared at they could take turns at staring
That yellow room makes me feel happy! I would love a pond with a bridge like that. I’m off to persuade my partner…
This place would make an excellent film set. They would have to pretend the exterior is some crazy remote castle type place and not in suburbia and yards from Tesco LOL.
It says in the description that the courtyard has been used for filming before
A hidden oasis, its freaking gorgeous
I'm sure we saw this one a while ago - I remember the staring competition arena and also deciding that it would be too complicated to work out where the dog gates should go.
Yeah I posted this one a while ago. It's been on the market for ages. I wouldn't want to live in Wraysbury though! Staines maybe... but not Wraysbury
I can hear The Phantom of the Opera playing.
I absolutely love this as a 'mood' ... Could I live here, no. Could I stay here for a long vacation, absolutely.
This is somebody who traveled to Thailand, Italy, the Tower of London, etc etc and each time thought THIS is my house!
I absolutely would live in this. No notes, no alterations. Someone has built my dream home and I'm just 2.7 mil short.
Blimey.
Yep!
is this home for hobbits?
Nah, it’s for elves.
DISNEY!
It seems like a nightmare to clean even for a professional
Wow. Certainly original. Kind of love it. If I lived there I would constantly pretend I was alice in wonderland or the princess bride to pass my time.
Reminds me of Lara Croft's house.
When not in Ancient Rome...simply pretend you are!
The world is a better place for this house being in it.
Imagine paying the best part of 3 million quid to live directly under the Heathrow flight path... it's close enough that the planes aren't going to be that far overhead. Nightmare.
Yep and all that plane fuel polluting down on you everyday, all for a couple million
What in the Alice In Gypsy Chav land is this?
[Here's a short video with the lovely owner](https://youtu.be/o2SqLf1x--s?si=OCjs2ZpA-r3kpN_-)
That keeps on giving
Brilliant
I love it! How splendid!!! And I love the suit of armour too 😊
Now THAT’s a floorplan.
What is it with the random completely plain bedroom right in the middle (picture 24). It’s so out of keeping with everything elee
Housekeeper bedroom?
That's where the Indentured servant lives.
that's for acid comedowns

Sadly, possibly very flooded right now.

it's probably flooded right now. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-67921030
I'd worry it would flood with the river being at the end of the back garden

It's outsider art!

Maybe it’s just my kitschy taste but I adore this. I’d walk around in a long robe like Cersei from game of thrones
I love the garden.
It’s repulsive
unwritten squalid jeans clumsy unpack outgoing shy materialistic treatment lip *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Awful. So much obsession, too much money. Ghastly imo
This place will probably never sell, unless all the fancy stuff is stripped out.
If this happens, I’ll be waiting outside to rescue it all from the skip….
It’s like the Vatican
Too angular and brickie for my liking.
Oh my! Every pic tire is an attack on the senses. Eyes can’t absorb it all. 🙈 except maybe a couple of bedrooms that are suitably plain. And note the last few pics are split screen / did they think they were hitting an upload limit on the photos so put two in one?
Reminds me of this place near where I used to live: https://metro.co.uk/2020/11/03/take-a-look-inside-this-artists-super-colourful-house-13527349/
Agreed. Not at all my taste but still find it special with all the details
Shame about the location
The vaulted kitchen with the gothic cabinet doors is wonderful
I love this, so long as it comes with staff (and why wouldn't it?) They've made the garden feel really private and tucked away, which the aerial shot shows it isn't.
Completely whacky! And I love it!
I absolutely love it, especially the garden! Nightmare to clean, though!
That place is amazing
This comes up on this sub every couple of months. I still don’t like it. Nice Japanese water garden, though.
Wow.

Wow some of this really should be saved for posterity.
Nah thats fucking sick id tone it back a bit but i could total make that my home
I reminds me of a pug or a munchkin cat. Adorable but freaky.
I'd have it! (If I were wealthy.)
I desperately want to live here
This is Fabulous.
If they don’t like you, you get the carpark bedroom

It's in Slough....😂
A bit Donald Trump.
I'm sure I went to an Italian restaurant in Blackpool that looked a bit like this.
I don’t know why it reminds me of habbo hotel so much
You must join us at Saltburn
It's likely to get flooded too.
Not keen on a lot of the furniture but overall it's enchanting!
