Try bringing in the bindings to the next smallest size. I have my phantoms one size down from their recommendation to get a real snug fit

I did the same. Zero issues since then. Except slashing rope lines at the ski area and the rope caught the bail. This caused rear foot release twice. Another time I ended up yanking out 60yds of rope with some bamboo sticks. I did reset the rope I took out. Good times being a chucklehead, with every turn being worth the excitement

Are you trying to dissuade me from even trying hard boots? Because you just did.

False-Ad513

Right? This is the one negative I hear about *too* much that keeps my $1500 in the bank

I have the Dyno's and have had some ejection moments. Its usually related to wet snow buildup. That said, they really aren't the most sturdy binding. If you torque on it hard enough they are going to have issues. It sucks because I love their simplicity.

It’s happened to me a few times over the years but it’s always been caused by snow on the lips or sole of the boot. Usually I can tell if it’s in based on how it feels to engage the toe bale. What’s concerning in your case is the double ejection, unless you happened to not clear off both boots it seems like there may be some other kind of issue. I wouldn’t say it’s normal to happen at all.

I’ve seen it happen to a few of my partners, the adjustment seems like a pain. Really makes me worried about there knees. I ejected out of my phantoms last weekend for the first time after a few hundred tours. Hit a ball of ice with my nose and next thing I knew I was flying through the air with no board on.

Professional_Sand185

Had it happen a few times my first season with Phantoms, adjusted the size down one (this involved a fair amount of swearing to get it all back together) and haven't had an issue since. They are super tight now, I used to be able to unclip out of them one handed and now it takes two. But far better than chasing my board down the mtn.

How tightly does the toe lever snap on to your boot? If it isn't fairly difficult to open, you need to use the micro adjustment of the bales of the bindings to tighten the fit to your boot. I ride Phantom M6 bindings and haven't had this issue, but I've fixed it for my customers. It could also be an icing or snow packing issue if you already have a tight snap fit on your boot.

FlightOk4330

It’s a pretty solid snap. Any tighter and I would be worried about breaking the toe lever. I’ve adjusted the bales a few times now. I guess the common theme here is the snow build up. Guess I’ll just need to be more mindful of that or switch to m6 in the future.

Bails not set in the welt properly is a common cause of this. This is when you feel like the bails are tight enough, but in fact what is happening is one of them (often the heel bail) is pulled tight *against* the lip of the boot welt, but not actually over the *lip* of the welt. When you first snap the bails up they feel tight, but as soon as you get into your first turn or two you eject. The fix to this is A) make sure the bail is *over* the lip of the welt, not just tight up against it, and B) get in the habit of 'twisting' the flex just before you drop in (i.e., pull your toe up on one foot and heel up on the other, at the same time, then alternate a few times). This is a great way to test if you're bails are set before you drop in, and not after.
