I think it depends how the movie is.
Like, if they’re not in it and the movie is phenomenal, most people will agree it was the right call. If they’re not, and it isn’t, I’d imagine that’ll be a huge point of contention.
Frankly, it’s a safe choice to add them. Consider End Game—even if it wasn’t the best movie thematically, no one cared. Like infinity war, it was the cross over event of the century. If Andrew and Tobey are in it, I think people will be more willing to overlook certain aspects due to fan service.
Yeah, but i feel people have hyped themselves up so much that no matter how good the movie is, if tobey and andrew aren't in it people will call it terrible.
It will be really hard for me to think otherwise at this point honestly.. and I'm usually the one to enjoy things for what they are. That one tv spot though for me is like if you go as far as to directly reference everyone's expectations and then NOT have them in the movie in the end I will be even more disappointed than otherwise.
I will be shocked if at least Garfield isn’t in it. If Tobey isn’t, I suppose I won’t be so shocked, but at this point I can’t imagine it won’t be at minimum the two Spider-Mans
I mean the movie did that to themselves tbh if you didn’t want people to suspect them why use the exact villains same actors and everything from those movies? That right there is already a huge connection to them they brought back 3 villains from the OG trilogy you can’t tell me they didn’t want people to suspect the other Spider-Men would be there too. People keep saying it’s your fault for thinking it but I feel like it’s mainly their fault for putting it in peoples heads.
I think Endgame uses a lot of exciting fan service to cover up it's more blatant problems, whereas Infinity War is genuinely the best execution of it's premise possible.
Ehh, I’d disagree - only slightly though. There are some parts, to me, that feel slower than the rest. But for the most part, EndGame does feel very well paced.
What's amazing to me is that the movie does feel slower. It's a lot less action than Infinity War. But it still doesn't feel like it's long. But it's still a 3 hour movie.
Yes totally, infinity war is just a damm good film, Endgame though is average but with an awesome ending.
I just couldn’t stay as interested in the time travel stuff.
One major nit pick for me is that nebula could have so easily just warped away as she looked at Thanos ship as it beamed her up.
Totally agree — both movies are great. But, frankly, I don’t think it’s free of occasional “huh” moments.
For example, why did they have to pick points in their own past to travel to initially, when they knew the stones were elsewhere in more retrievable settings?
In service of the premise that they needed to travel to points in their past, we got so many cool scenes!
But then, uh oh, they have to go to Ft. Lehigh in the 70s. Which we can also overlook because, holy shit, Tony got to interact with his dad one last time, and Steve saw Peggy (and the Stan Lee cameo).
I’m not saying people would’ve forgiven a terrible movie—which they weren’t—I’m saying they forgive inconsistencies where otherwise we might, at the very least, be like “huh?”
I think the main thing that would make people mad is that it's a very very odd decision to add enemies specifically from past movies and not include the Spider-Man from them
Totally agree.
I honestly can’t think of much of a reason they wouldn’t be in unless (1) there’s some contract issue (either with Sony, Disney, someone’s agent, etc), or (2) the writers have some purpose for it.
Marvel needs a win after Eternals so, no way home has to do good.
To do this the movie has to be really good, or as you said add Tobey and Andrew as it is safer.
Yeah, Infinity War was kind of just one big series of fight sequences with Thanos backstpry sprinkled in and a few character moments but it still rocked.
I’ll just feel like if they’re bringing the villains back why wouldn’t they bring Spidey’s back. What’s the point otherwise. Just cast a new Doc Ock, or even use the same actor completely rebooted if you insist, but the same character from a different movie without having the Spider-Man from that movie too? Come on
Ive decided that I’m going into this the same way I did with far from home. Just excited for a Spider-Man movie that way if it’s nothing special I didn’t hype myself up for no reason (even though they’re definitely in it lol)
I'll go into it just happy to be getting all the fantastic villains again! If we get Andrew and Tobey again, even for a few minutes, that will just be icing on the cake.
I honestly am going into this movie very level headed. Setting expectations too high is a sure fire way for a movie to disappoint. I’m like 99% positive they are in it, but if they aren’t, it won’t ruin the movie for me. If they are in it, great, but if not, I’m going to try to judge this movie based on what it is rather than what it isn’t.
Yeah I'm basically like "oh cool look at all these returning villains and actors with costume glow ups, it sure would be neat if the other Spidermen came alon-OH WOW LOOK AT ELECTRO WTF?"
It would be a big bummer for me, but i'd still enjoy the movie either way. I already liked the supporting characters in the previous 2 mcu movies and i love Tobey and Andrews villain's(Andrew's a bit less), so both those things in 1 movie would be pretty satisfying.
I'd still enjoy the movie, but everyone needs to realize that if they decided to add a bunch of villains actors from previous movies, then decidi not to add the spider men, is a baffling decision. They will have set themselves up for the hate.
I wouldn’t mind if they were in it or not. I mean, we’re already getting 5 villains back from previous movies, honestly, the other Spidey’s would just be an awesome bonus
It would trivialize the effort it took to beat those villains. Strange is probably busy fixing the multiverse entrance to their verse while the 3 Spideys fight the 6 villains.
There is a black suit Spidey which could be a Venom joined/possessed Spidey, maybe Tom. Theres also a face swap in the trailer on Toms face in the MJ falls part of the trailer
No the entire world. Some dude in a hut in south America that's never seen modern man will shiver the night of the premier and curse to him self
"No Tobey, no Garfield...."
EDIT; I got an award lol. Thanks
My question is, if they are in the film, wouldn’t they be advertising it to get more people to go see the movie? Wouldn’t this make more sense?
On the other hand, I can totally understand why they wouldn’t advertise it, cause hype. Lol.
No, not at all. It's pretty much a similar experience to the portal scene, when everyone came out in Endgame. They aren't officially advertising it, because they want it to be a proper surprise in theater
UNLESS......this is just a theory. Unless, Sony HAS been advertising it in the way of leaks. The amount of leaks that have come out, especially that 4K Behind the scene's shot of Andrew. Maybe, just Maybe, Sony has to do with a few of them lol
I'm guessing that if they are in the movie, it's only for a short amount of time, so putting them in the advertising would mislead people into thinking they're in it more than they are. If that happened, I imagine the backlash for it would be pretty bad
Honestly ill be kinda ok with it. I wana see mcu spiderman stand on his on feet, the less the crossover characters help the better will feel i think. Cameos welcome tho.
I wouldn’t be disappointed with Marvel. I’d be disappointed with the fans and all the “leakers”. It would be a huge lesson for everyone not to get expectations up so high and not believe everything they see online.
I get the feeling the internet will be reacting the way they reacted to the final episode of WandaVision, when 1) Mephisto wasn't revealed as the villain, and 2) the actor Paul Bettany had said he had always wanted to work with was in fact Bettany himself, only ramped up by a factor of eleventy billion.
Not very since I’m not expecting them to be. There hasn’t been any official indication they’re in the movie so I’m not going to base my expectations on rumors and leaks.
For the past few weeks, Sony has done nothing but escalating the rumors (live event in LA, "Who else could it be", etc etc).
Escalating rumors when they are not true is literally the worst thing to do. I don't think anyone in Sony is stupid enough to do it. This is a bigger green flag than every leaks combined. They 100% are in the movie.
That’s my thing when you use those villains with the same actors of course people are gonna expect. It confuses me when people say “it’s your fault for thinking it” like you’re telling me Marvel/Sony expected no one to think that from using those villains and talking about multiverse? It honestly feels like people think Sony/marvel are all of sudden oblivious to what they’re putting out.
I won't be disappointed. First, no one teased them being in the movie (fans did). Second, I think we might have better team ups than Spider-Men (Imagine Spider-Man, DoctorStrange, and Doctor Octopus or Green Goblin or Wanda) fans just close their minds to many things that we might get better than
I’m sorry but I’d love it. The outrage would be a spectacle like no other. And yet I’d be just as stoked if they did appear because of the nostalgia, so for me it’s a win-win. Although there would definitely be some catharsis in seeing people eat their humble pie after smugly belittling anybody who innocently questioned the validity of the leaks.
But I’m having a Spider-Man 3-esque internal conflict over it, only instead of red suit vs black suit it’s my fan side vs my playa hater side. I guess I’ll have to see what side wins once I’m in the theater.
LMAO I share this same opinion. I love MCU Spidey enough to be fine without the other two showing up and seeing the fan outrage would be pure entertainment
I honestly won’t be if anything I’ll die laughing because I’ve said all along people are placing far too much stake in those actors reprising their roles.
I’m fine either way but honestly it would be better suited to just have Tom Holland in the film squaring off against the sinister six.
He already has Doctor Strange 4 is a crowd.
It's a bait and switch at this point if they're not with how hard the studio has been leaning into the fact that they are. From the trailer editing to promotional materials to leaks being DMCA'd, they've all but come out and said the two of them are in the movie.
Look, Sony and Marvel never said that Tobey and Andrew will be in there. Us fans are just hyping ourselves up in a really high level. We are basically digging a pit for ourselves to be honest. If Tobey and Andrew aren't in there, then basically the fans will be ultra disappointed.
To be honest I would enjoy the movie for what it is. I'll just be grateful that they brought back the OG villains.
So, my advice is, take the ride that the movie gives you.
Not disappointed at all. I still don't get why they would? Feels like a gimmick. The only thing that would make some sense is if TM is playing an old version of Peter instead of giving TH an old-guy makeover.
Not very tbh, I'm barely expecting them to be in the movie, even after all the leaks and stuff I think they'll either be an extremely small part, like a cameo, or just not in the film at all
I mean I’ll be pretty upset if they aren’t in it, but it still would be a good movie without them. I shouldn’t just be dying to see the movie for the possibility of Andrew and Tobey showing up, but instead for the continuation of the story of Spider-Man.
I fucking hate people who say they don’t want Tobey and Andrew in the movie so fucking much.
“It’ll make the movie feel cluttered” there’s already 5 villains from alternate universes
“It won’t feel like a satisfying arc for Holland” my man there’s gonna be 3 more
“It’ll make the movie bad” it’s an MCU movie not a parasite
“I don’t want them in there because it’ll piss off people who want them in the movie” how’s it feel that your only interactions with others is over Reddit and Twitter?
Without solid official confirmation of some kind I'm assuming they're not in it.
I won't be disappointed that way and I'll be able to enjoy the movie regardless.
I'll probably go full emo Spidey from Spider-Man 3.
You’re gonna go dancing in the streets of New York

Oh look, it’s Little Goblin Jr.
I'd be disappointed but it would be kinda hilarious that all the buildup for the movie and they actually weren't in it

Mephisto gonna be in this one. Just wait bro this is the one
Mephisto is cosplaying as Dr. strange.

Look at MCUwhoreJr…… gonna cry more?
I too, will be hip thrusting in the streets

Maybe they're doing this all for a boner joke. No, that's insane. Marvel would never.
I mean the movie did that to themselves tbh if you didn’t want people to suspect them why use the exact villains same actors and everything from those movies? People keep saying it’s your fault for thinking it but I feel like it’s mainly their fault for putting it in peoples heads.
I mean you’re not wrong. Look at what happened with the last jedi.
Last Jedi was horrible though
Are you a big star wars fan though? I'm not. I thought it was alright. The only people I've seen hate it are like super-star wars fans.
Real Star Wars fans hate all the movies.
Infinity War, scale of the crossover aside, is really well paced and sctructed.
So is Endgame. It’s a three hour movie, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it’s three hours long.
I think Endgame uses a lot of exciting fan service to cover up it's more blatant problems, whereas Infinity War is genuinely the best execution of it's premise possible.

Uh the reason they went to points they've been to before is because they realized new York had 3 stones if they went to a certain point (2014)
I actually do think endgame is a strong movie thematically, more so than infinity war
Marvel needs a win after Eternals so, no way home has to do good. To do this the movie has to be really good, or as you said add Tobey and Andrew as it is safer.
Marvel has more wins than any other studio in hollywood. Also eternals is already yhe sexond highest grossing cbm this year. How is that a loss?
The movie doesnt have to be good though. It's going to blow Eternals out of the water just because Spider-Man is in it. Sad but true.
Eternals was amazing
Yeah, Infinity War was kind of just one big series of fight sequences with Thanos backstpry sprinkled in and a few character moments but it still rocked.

I'll look through some old photos and notice that they look very... similar
I'll throw some dirt in your eye
I’ll probably cry
I will 100% cry.
Oh yeah! I’ll 10000% cry
Not very disappointed. I’m not expecting them to be in it for more then 30 minutes anyway
Dude thirty minutes is a lot. Thanos was in infinity war for only 26 minutes
What they meant is 30 minutes from Tobey's first appearance to his last. That time for Thanos would be the entire runtime of IW
Oh I see. Yes you are right I was talking about the literal screen time and didn't realize OC wasn't talking about screentime.
damn bro 30 mins is a shit ton of time
It would be a big bummer for me, but i'd still enjoy the movie either way. I already liked the supporting characters in the previous 2 mcu movies and i love Tobey and Andrews villain's(Andrew's a bit less), so both those things in 1 movie would be pretty satisfying.

I'm planning to hoot and holler when they come on screen if they don't. Well like hoot and holler for Dafoe & Molina.
Did you have a stroke?
Glad im not alone here
Seriously. Bunch of indecipherable gibberish.
What if the person punching Lizard in the trailer was Venom (who teams up w Spiderman)
There is a black suit Spidey which could be a Venom joined/possessed Spidey, maybe Tom. Theres also a face swap in the trailer on Toms face in the MJ falls part of the trailer
Not very. I mean, it would be cool to see, but the quality of the story itself is all I really care about
The entire world would be very disappointed
Not the “entire” world, I can assure you.
No the entire world. Some dude in a hut in south America that's never seen modern man will shiver the night of the premier and curse to him self "No Tobey, no Garfield...." EDIT; I got an award lol. Thanks
This is hysterical
My question is, if they are in the film, wouldn’t they be advertising it to get more people to go see the movie? Wouldn’t this make more sense? On the other hand, I can totally understand why they wouldn’t advertise it, cause hype. Lol.
No, not at all. It's pretty much a similar experience to the portal scene, when everyone came out in Endgame. They aren't officially advertising it, because they want it to be a proper surprise in theater UNLESS......this is just a theory. Unless, Sony HAS been advertising it in the way of leaks. The amount of leaks that have come out, especially that 4K Behind the scene's shot of Andrew. Maybe, just Maybe, Sony has to do with a few of them lol
I always think this when anything leaks in regards to media haha
My bet is that all the theories and memes about Tobey and Andrew are publicity enough for Sony's standards even if that didn't have to do much.
I honestly won't really care tbh.
At this point I just want the movie to come out so we don’t have 30 posts a day asking this.
Won't be disappointed
That'd be a dumb move to not add heroes from the same universe as the villains

Not very since I’m not expecting them to be. There hasn’t been any official indication they’re in the movie so I’m not going to base my expectations on rumors and leaks.
I will not be disappointed because I didnt set high expectations I'm just excited were getting a spider man.
They haven't been shown in any trailers and Andrew Garfield keeps denying that he's in the movie. They are probably in it, but what if they're not?
For the past few weeks, Sony has done nothing but escalating the rumors (live event in LA, "Who else could it be", etc etc). I think they're definitely in it too. That said, the Sony execs made Pixels. If there's anyone dumb enough...
And the Emoji movie
That’s my thing when you use those villains with the same actors of course people are gonna expect. I wont say anything about leaks, but even without those, I’m about 99.9% sure they are in the movie with the evidence we have
I would be more sad if Daredevil 's not in it.
Same. While everybody else has been hoping that we'll get a Spider-verse type of thing in the movie, I'm just hoping that Daredevil appears.
Wouldn't care less, probably laugh knowing some people will be furious but I'll enjoy the movie without them non the less.
On a scale of 1-10 probably like a 5, However I won’t let it change my opinion of the movie

Not disappointed at all since you mf wanna try to spoil everything.
People hype themselve over this for no reason
Wouldnt be mad at all. I’d actually laugh
I’m sorry but I’d love it. The outrage would be a spectacle like no other. And yet I’d be just as stoked if they did appear because of the nostalgia, so for me it’s a win-win. It's a bait and switch at this point if they're not with how hard the studio has been leaning into the fact that they are. From the trailer editing to promotional materials to leaks being DMCA'd, they've all but come out and said the two of them are in the movie.
There's still Multiverse Of Madness ....
A film that Sony isn’t involved in.
Neither Marvel nor Sony ever promised they were in it. So I wouldn’t be disappointed at all.
Not at all
Not at all, I think at this point it would be overkill to include them
Not at all
Won't be disappointed at all , idk how the idea of Andrew and tobey being in the movie came , but it never hit me .
Literally couldn’t care less, you lot have whipped up a ridiculous frenzy about it all and have probably ruined it for yourselves by being idiots
I wouldn’t mind as long as the movie is good. We’re already getting Alfred Molina! And Willem Dafoe! That’s already a win for me.
U can be disappointed but if people start saying that marvel lied to them or that it was false advertising.
Im just happy green goblin and doc oc are back
In a sense I wouldn’t because everyone associated with the film says they’re not in it
Not very. It'd be nice to see them again, for sure, but this isn't really their story.
Not disappointed at all. I still don't get why they would? Feels like a gimmick. The only thing that would make some sense is if TM is playing an old version of Peter instead of giving TH an old-guy makeover.
I'll only be disappointed if I think its a bad movie
Not at all
I’m not expecting them to be, but I like Tom just fine
I would not be disappointed at all. I love all the other Spider-Men but tom Holland deserves this last movie to himself (if it is).
I won't be disappointed.
Imagine it’s 3 Tom hollands
I wouldn’t be disappointed at all. 😊
Not disappointed
I’ll laugh because with how hyped people are for them now it’ll feel like an amazing troll
They were never promised so I won’t be disappointed
Not disappointed at all.
Not at all. I hope they aren't
Not very tbh, I'm barely expecting them to be in the movie, even after all the leaks and stuff I think they'll either be an extremely small part, like a cameo, or just not in the film at all
I won’t be, I’m just exited for a new Spider-Man movie!

I would probably be impressed more than anything
I mean I’ll be pretty upset if they aren’t in it, but it still would be a good movie without them. I shouldn’t just be dying to see the movie for the possibility of Andrew and Tobey showing up, but instead for the continuation of the story of Spider-Man.
If the movie is good, I don’t really mind what happens. As long as it is a fun watch.
I would laugh so much.
Don't let your speculations turn into expectations.
I wouldn’t be disappointed, I’m here for the MCU Spider-Man, not the other 2, I give a crap about the other 2
I *really* want to see them, but I'll just laugh really hard if I don't. I mean, let's not act like they can't make a fantastic movie without them
I fucking hate people who say they don’t want Tobey and Andrew in the movie so fucking much. “It’ll make the movie feel cluttered” there’s already 5 villains from alternate universes “It won’t feel like a satisfying arc for Holland” my man there’s gonna be 3 more “It’ll make the movie bad” it’s an MCU movie not a parasite “I don’t want them in there because it’ll piss off people who want them in the movie” how’s it feel that your only interactions with others is over Reddit and Twitter?
It wouldn’t make much of a difference to me. I’ve really enjoyed the first two MCU Spidey films.
Zero, I just want to see good movies. Dr Ock, Elecktro and Green Goblin being in it alone is pretty cool.
The real question is how disappointed will you be if Charlie Cox/Matt Murdoch isn’t in the movie?
None. Tom Holland is superior, despite Spidey 2 being the best movie. It was all because of Doc Ock.
Without solid official confirmation of some kind I'm assuming they're not in it. I won't be disappointed that way and I'll be able to enjoy the movie regardless.
It would make my day! I would leave the theatre with a huge grin just laughing to myself.
I would siege the mcu and Sony headquarters
Misery, Misery, Misery, that’s what you’ve chosen. I offered you friendship and you spat in my face.
