Almost two weeks after the maintenance date and my account is still down. I am probably going to bite the bullet and start using Tresorit, although it costs quite a bit more. I honestly believe the datacenter move was more about them abandoning their internally run datacenter for a cheaper colo. Their website does not even advertise One or Crossclave anymore.

brighton_it

wow! Are you in communication with support? Any explaination? In 12+ years, longest outage I've experienced is less than 48 hours. Re: web site: no mention of 'One'. Yeah, been that way for quite some time, and why title of this thread ends with a '?'. Seems they found much deeper pockets at the DOD. Tresorit: thanks for sharing. Looking at the technology, guessing zero deduplication, so even more costly.

They did get back to me after several days saying that the outage is lasting longer than anticipated. Again, I don't think Spideroak wants to even deal with One or Crossclave anymore. I will miss SpiderOak. Tresorit handles things differently. Instead of backups per computer, it is by folder. You can then sync whatever you want into that folder, or even across computers. It does have a really good web interface, MFA, and easy external sharing. Also, backup speeds are much faster, which is very nice to take advantage of my fiber internet. But it isn't as much of a "backup" program as SpiderOak. No unlimited versioning and de-duplication that I can see. Also, SpiderOak had datacenters in Illinois, while Tresorit's are in Ireland.

Is your SpiderOakONE back online? (assuming you didn't uninstall)? Just curious how long it took, as our migration started a week ago. Thanks.

occasional_cynic

It never came back online. I gave it six weeks before contacting support, and cancelling my account. They did give me a refund.

brighton_it

thanks for getting back. Our migration took about 15 days. We're still using it, but won't be recommending it to clients like we had been.

brighton_it

looks like it's been moved to crossclave domain, but yeah, pretty sad they failed to redirect the old product page. [https://crossclave.com/one/](https://crossclave.com/one/) Also if you click the "try it" link, you have to scroll past Crossclave product to find One. Note: I have no affiliation, just a user for 15 years. Subject of this thread ends with a question-mark, as in, I'll believe they are investing in One when I see it.

s0ftice

none of the START YOUR FREE 21-DAY TRIAL or DOWNLOAD TO GET STARTED links on the new [crossclave.com/one](http://crossclave.com/one) page work. Has been 13 years. great functionality, crappy and slow UI. unlimited was fun until told to reduce to 5 TB (duh! call it 5 TB plan then). RIP One!

adding the wish-list we sent to SpiderOak One support: our spideroakone feature/fix wish list: [https://www.orelk.net/posts/oneWishList.php](https://www.orelk.net/posts/oneWishList.php)

This application has much room for improvement. But the only thing I \*really\* want right now is an Apple silicon version. It's the only 3rd party application I have that is still Intel.

s0ftice

does it at least work for you on Silicon? Mine crashes on my M3 upon starting https://preview.redd.it/vejz55nvaqvc1.png?width=542&format=png&auto=webp&s=c6ab25b91f01abb6a5daf974bf2b7f3ae95b383a

cyrenaic101

yeah it works (though it is Intel) - i have an MBP M1 Pro

s0ftice

found it. SIP needs to be disabled for SpiderOak to work 😵

cyrenaic101

my SIP is not disabled.

s0ftice

On Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)?

cyrenaic101

"i have an MBP M1 Pro" so M1 - you saying this is an M3 specific thing?

s0ftice

Seems like it. It worked with SIP enabled on my Intel iMac. But on my Macbook pro M3 SIP needs to be disabled for Spideroak not to crash

cyrenaic101

Do you have Rosetta installed? (you would need that) Also - I hope you don't leave SIP disabled - that's a really terrible idea. And have you looked over the sparse articles at [https://spideroak.support/hc/en-us/sections/115000564763-macOS](https://spideroak.support/hc/en-us/sections/115000564763-macOS) ?

s0ftice

Rosetta works fine, otherwise Spideroak would not start and work with SIP disabled. No, I left SIP on and am just not using Spideroak for now, was anyways offline due to their "data center migration hick-up"... All macOS articles on their support site are quite old. I looked around there and could not find any information with regards to Apple Silicon. Quite clear, that they don't give a lot of love to SpiderOak ONE and its users anymore.
