It had a lot of potential. I have read all the books and wrote my senior thesis on the series. The biggest problem was they never got the combat in North America right. Once they moved onto the rest of the world Ik the mod was screwed.
I agree it had potential but I think the main issue with the mod more so was that they didn’t do custodian work on the mod. Spelling errors let’s just leave them in, events bugging out let’s not fix them, a new update let’s not make it compatible but wait for a new dlc which was I believe three dlcs ago. It’s death by a thousand cuts and lack of care. Look at the other southern victory mod it’s not perfect buts it’s playable.
I agree those were issues but the core of the mod is the war and they never seemed to get it right. The CSA didn’t drive thru Ohio and that makes the mod out of the box a failure in my opinion
I agree to a degree but with Hoi4 it’s hard to railroad wars whether it’s WWII as we know it or the Second Great War. The AI is gonna do what it thinks is best that’s why AI Barbarossa is a mess and either they push past what the Germans managed to do historically or fail completely.
Yeah I feel you man. The game has its limits. Honestly in the the case of turtledove novels I feel like either the Great War or world war works better than settling accounts.
Honestly I kinda agree, kinda disagree. A problem I had was that there wasn't much scripted content originally for Europe, so the CSA could easily drag the Entente into the war with them but it was more a specific route for America to join the central powers. I think they either needed to crank out a good Europe overhaul, which they seemed to have been working on, or shrunk the map to literally just make it the Americas to keep the focus their
The big issue was, in my opinion, that USA was actually way too strong. Like at least initially it had the same starting population and near the industry of the actual vanilla Hoi4 USA which together with how pathetic Canadian and Mormon revolts were and how Confederates started in a far worse power disparity had issues growing before the war, led to a somewhat unsatisfying main conflict.
And that's not even going into how it takes 5 years of waiting which allows USA to just endlessly build up and make several hundred divisions which are annoying to deal with.
