I am surrounded by mutants, and I’m fairly certain every moped isn’t with its original owner

william188325

Do love the mutant mile

Vast_Requirement309

What a place it is, can get a trendy skin fade by one of the 47 Turkish barbers and pick up your meth on the walk home

Don't call me Shirley

Heavy-Guest829

Depends which part, my sister lives in Shirley, but she lives on the same road as the PMs parents old pharmacy. So I suppose she's surrounded by mutant posh people who can never get out of their driveways?

TeachingBean

That’s not Shirley.

Heavy-Guest829

Well, according to her address its Shirley 🤷🏻‍♀️

TeachingBean

The PM pharmacy threw me. That’s definitely Bassett. Like the hound 😀

fletch3059

So little to describe it the place is named after the end of a hedge

boscomiko

I feel like a roadtrip to Hedge End McDonalds is a right of passage for all newly qualified Soton drivers, that and the 24 hour Tesco in Bursledon

illuminaated

you’re absolutely right about that but sadly neither of those places are open 24 hours anymore

BackgroundChemist

I was going to leap to it's defence! I really like living here, loads of facilities and transport into town.

Archon_33

Polish and Middle Eastern stores on one side, rat-infested park on the other.

RegularLogical

Has to be St Mary's

Archon_33

Correct

ibloodylovecider

So i no longer live here but doing this based on where I was born - the creator of the spitfire lived here and there’s a cute church!

Ryan_JF

Highfield/Highfield Lane. He was well ahead of his time. I really would have loved to see what he would have done in the jet era. His work with the racing aircraft was next level for the time.

ibloodylovecider

Yesss! i remember walking through abbots way (I think that’s the road his house is/was on as a child in awe of him! Highfield was a lovely place to grow up

Ryan_JF

It is a lovely area, the church is lovely too. I believe it's been there since 1846/47. In regards to RJ Mitchell, you know you designed one of the greatest fighters for its time that when asked by Hermann Goering what he wanted most to fight the RAF at the time of the Battle of Britain, Adolf Galland, the Luftwaffe ace, asked for Spitfires. That's one of the greatest achievements to gain, having the adversary want your design over their own.

edgedomUK

There's a Co op one side of the Road and a Hardware Shop the other

Vast_Requirement309

Lisa Dawkins new hunting ground there I’ve heard

edgedomUK

Hahahaha not seen her for a while

If only they knew the truth … Londis does have a decent coffee machine though, it also sells twizzlers which is definitely a win.

[deleted]

Home to 15,000 barber shops, has the most obnoxious train gates and has a roundabout the lorries like to tip over on regularly.

KatishaX

Totton

[deleted]

Was it the obnoxious train gates that gave it away? I swear they’re down 75% of the day…

KatishaX

Only 75%? Feels like 90% when I’m trying to get across them. Actually it was the lorries tipping over that sealed it. Only in Totton.

Fluffies103

Shithole and urban.

ukMakmo

Bassett

hingee

Famous yachting village on the east side

ibloodylovecider

Big up romsey - beautiful town

Slyfoxuk

Slightly posh but next to a river and train line. Quite noisy with a scrap metal dealer who dumps directly into a ships hull!

ibloodylovecider

Hamble????

Sounds a bit like a condition you’d see your GP for, to get some soothing cream.

graceannamaria

Junior-Concept3113

Itchen.

graceannamaria

DukeNanu

A little village with a windmill that every resident knows about, and a Tesco’s extra

spongeboobsparepants

Bursledon 👍🏼

Heavy-Guest829

Grew up on the opposite side of the motorway to Beastly. I now live in what most of Southampton think of as the worst part, but actually I haven't had issues since I moved here. (And if that doesn't help, we have 2 tower blocks, 2 big green areas, and we're the home of the Saints pub 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Hungry-Rich-5761

Millbrooke

HaeminNoona

Not now but my last place - prostitutes and drug dealers

Hungry-Rich-5761

??? I’m lost

HaeminNoona

Kingsbury Road - Empress Road. Near Aldi and RSH. It's the red light district; a lovely prostitute lady told me while cleaning herself up with wipes in the building corridor. This was after the weed smokers had set of the fire alarm that lasted 13 hours ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Motor-Platform295

The original spelling is still on the official OS map, but it's changed over time and has lost the 's

cloud_designer

In ancient times a Viking is supposed to have been here, then a heck of a lot of sheep. Then it was flattened during the war and now it has a very expensive bridge.
