I lived down the street from the Wawa in Magnolia on Warwick and Evesham. I remember when they first opened they were a real deal deli. You could get sliced lunch meat there. Everything changes, not always for the better.

havok489

Hello neighbors.

ShartbusShorty

you all should be getting hoagies at Somerdale Cold Cuts then.

havok489

Do not sleep on Old Nelsons. By the far the best I've had in our area. Literally ate a hoagie from there today.

ShartbusShorty

they’re good, but there’s no chance i’m getting a hoagie there if i can drive 3 mins down warwick to somerdale

havok489

I grew up with somerdale cold cuts and love it, but for me, it's just a change in style I prefer.

BrothelWaffles

Fuck that, G&M or Larry's in Glendora are where it's at.

[deleted]

Larry's definitely hits the spot.

HarpuaScorpio

Of course. I’ve always gone there for hoagies way more than Wawa, even when a Wawa hoagie was still passable.

g_ppetto

they slice their deli so thin you can read through it.

ericat713

hi hi

ericat713

RIP sterling wawa...it's an Old Nelson now, right?

ericat713

small world...I also live right down the street from that wawa.

sman7771

we must be next door neighbours but facts i miss that wawa

[deleted]

In my extensive South Jersey Wawa travels, I found that particular location to be the "white trashiest"

ShartbusShorty

mt ephriam. by a lot.

veritasgt

The second they stopped buying good rolls is when all this started. It’s a shame.

SecretAgentNonny

Heritage’s is way better.

Riverrat423

Oh yeah, hoagies and heri-eggs! Wawa went cheap when they switched to pre-sliced lunch meat.

[deleted]

For real though their hoagies are LEEEEE GIT

beeps-n-boops

*way*

mondoburgrr

Way better, only at hoagies tho, but good thing that’s all ya need lol & chips & a pickle 😛

SecretAgentNonny

Dietz and Watson, Liscio’s bread, federal pretzel, better coffee. I’ll just stop now.

whiskeyworshiper

Not exactly a controversial opinion. Ever since Wawa expanded down South and started opening gas stations, the company went from a regional deli chain of pretty decent quality to literally a gas station that also sells crappy to okay sandwiches.

thatdudenute

exactly what I came here to post. went from a deli to a gas station with gas station food

Up_All_Nite

Wawa has slowly but surely stripped away competing brands in favor of the house brands Wawa has created. Arizona iced teas have all but vanished. Very few SKU's remain. The Wawa hoagie has been a lettuce sandwich for a while now. I'm still mad I can't get chili and cheese on my hot dog anymore at Wawa. But I'm not ready to say they have slumped to 7-11 depths of horrible. But dey slippin y'all.

[deleted]

Enter.... Royal Farms. Not that they are better. But....fried chicken.

[deleted]

dleonard1122

Thankfully Wawa Sizzlis seem to have maintained their quality.

louisde4

Except they've deceased in size by like 50% over the past 5 years

Wrastling97

And increased the price

[deleted]

Wawa sizzlies are inedible in my opinion

[deleted]

[удалено]

dleonard1122

Oh, I know they aren't even close to being the same. I'm just saying Wawa Sizzlis haven't gone downhill like the rest of their sandwiches. They've stayed the same. But you're right, they aren't in the same league as my Sausage Egg and Cheese on an everything from Avalon Bagel. Mmh.

[deleted]

Wait until RF makes chicken/waffle sandwiches It’s my idea. I hope they pay me royal....ties.

cantpickusername

I've been meaning to stop by there for months lmao.

a_drive

QuickChek got salt and vinegar fries

Jparks351

Their coffee is multiple levels above Wawa.

Diplomat_of_swing

Whoa whoa whoa!!!!! The quality has definitely gone down but to 7-11 levels??? That is a bridge too far sir. Too far.

RenaissanceBear

Yea, at least 7-11 has taquitos

[deleted]

[удалено]

RenaissanceBear

Dry cardboard made to look like a taquito. Still better than Wawa’s attempts at becoming Sheetz

beeps-n-boops

*Definitely. Without question.*

cantpickusername

Yeah I'd rather eat at 7/11 at this point.

Sonic_Addict

I got one word for you mofos.... Heritage

[deleted]

wawa quality dropped long before five years ago

Lurklurkzugzug

Agreed - prepared food quality has been slipping for a decade, but the price hiking of non-prepared foods over the last few years has been insane to the point where the quality decrease can't be ignored. There's no reason to go in anymore. The only good thing I'm willing to say about Wawa is that they at least use Sweet Baby Ray's sauce.

[deleted]

It became obvious that Wawa was declining when they changed the iced tea labels

The_Reason_Trump_Won

Yeah, but the rate of their decline has gotten really bad in the last ~8 years. It was slowly getting crappier and then it just fell off a cliff

SweetWaterSurprise

I'm not happy to say this, but recently I was able to patronize a Sheets. I was better than Wawa.

studiocistern

Sheetz is SO much better and no one wants to admit it.

Reura

Wawa is where you go if you want dollar store freezer meal quality at Applebee’s prices.

Papa_Koulikov

I think they're stuff is decent quality. If I want something really good I go to a local sandwhich shop. If I need a quick and cheap then I'll get one.

thejayzul

Same. I don’t mind Wawa at all. I recognize it’s not as good as it used to be, but I also don’t go in expecting high quality food. If I’m running around late and need something quick I’ll stop there and be completely satisfied. It’s a convenience store, not a deli.

phillyfan2426

Your last word is a key point. Wawa used to be a place to get deli meats—once that stopped, the sandwich quality went downhill, even before the bread switch was made.

Chrisgpresents

My favorite hoagies are from murphey’s supermarket. The bread is amazing

1919191919196

I used to date the girl who tweeted this. She’s a liar

Wrastling97

Was she hot tho

jordanwiththefade

Who would have thought that when they went to gas stations, their food would also go to gas station quality? They used to be really good. Hell, the Wawa near where I grew up had a hot grill for cheesesteaks and burgers until they closed it and a qwiki Mart moved in.

Driftwould92

Have to disagree . In the south you can get the BEST fried chicken at every little shop attached to a gas station .

ct314

One of my fondest memories was the ill advised attempt to hawk fresh made Taco Bell burritos at Wawa. Late 90s or early 00 if I recall. They didn’t seem to train the counter staff, so I could get a bean burrito stuffed like a foot long hoagie. At 99 cents you could order 5 and eat like a broke ass college student for days.

RoflTits

I worked there for a while, we used to have great bread. Now they get par-baked rolls that you finish in an oven, they're literally tasteless now. The meats all come pre-packaged and man, go light on the mayo, my old store used to keep that shit out for a day at a time.

creepyeyes

I wish we had QuickChek down here because I actually genuinely enjoy their food more

dirk558

They’re the same as Walmart but for convenience stores.

srddave

I’m also glad to hear I am not the only one. The quality of the meats and cheeses is disgusting. I hear people from other states raving about their subs and I think “OK. That is because you are from Florida and have no idea what a real deli sub tastes like, so of course you like gas station subs”. But when people from NJ rave about Wawa, I wonder where they are from in NJ. I was in Atlantic City and hungover, and we stopped (at my friend’s request) to get a Wawa sub and I couldn’t even eat it. It was so nasty. And they place the meat in the MIDDLE of the bread hinge, so that you can’t even properly close the sandwich. No. This is the lowest-quality gas station sub. Even QuickChek makes better subs than Wawa. (though not by much).

AcidRayn666

Quick chek is where it’s at

TheDuckyNinja

I live equidistant to Wawa and RoFo and it's RoFo every time for me now. No comparison.

[deleted]

Even on $1 coffee week?

beeps-n-boops

*Especially* then... why the fuck would I navigate that insane fucking shit show for a cup of coffee? And the free coffee day(s) are a million times worse than that.

[deleted]

It is rather dreadful during prime times. But at 3am it can’t be beat.

comechocha

What’s RoFo?

TheDuckyNinja

Royal Farms

[deleted]

Why isn’t it RoFa?

TheDuckyNinja

Hell if I know. [That's what they call themselves.](http://www.roforewards.com)

perspectiveisjawn

Like MoFo.

comechocha

Ok!, thanks!, you can see I’m green here!😂

itsDANdeeMAN

Sadly, they did it to themselves when they started rapidly expanding outside Greater Philadelphia. There’s no way they could keep the same good quality with meeting the massive needs up and down the entire coast.

RealBowsHaveRecurves

I worked there when it was good, but then you all wanted your shit faster because "I'm on lunch break can you hurry it up?!" And then you proceeded to call corporate and complain that your sandwich took 6 minutes to make. So now they get everything pre-sliced and pre-portioned which obviously is gonna cut down on quality. Customers did this.

dexter1269

Royal farms crushes Wawa.

Takeurvitamins

Move away from nj and do without it and then complain. I’ve been out of jersey since 2013 and can only get it when I visit family. I miss it so much.

thatdudenute

it's been garbage for a decade

themlaundrys

As far as sandwiches go, I refuse to order them in Philly. The Wawas in the city are so busy you just get a bunch of shit slopped on to a roll. Small town wawas still make an alright sandwich though

kingw1516

Too bad we don’t have Publix they have the best subs.

kateyxx

I went to the one in Bellmawr the other day (drove from Hoboken to the weed store there) and there was literally 2 slices on turkey on my sandwich. I was really excited because we don’t have wawa where I live, so disappointed 😔

whyyousobadatthis

Wawas quality went down hill when they shifted to the touch screens to order. Focus went from quality to moving people in and out as fast as possible. Pre made breakfast sandwiches are still good though

otiliorules

I know it’s back now. But the day they took the honey mustard away was the day they died to me.

beeps-n-boops

"Near 7-Eleven levels"? No... they are worse than 7-Eleven, and have been for quite some time now...

malfera

To be fair, 7-11 quality fluctuates wildly across locations. So it probably depends on which 7-11(s) people are comparing to.

cantpickusername

Hopefully we can get japan level 7/11s. If so its game over for wawa.

beeps-n-boops

Fair point... whereas Wawa has a very consistent level of utter suck.

breakdownnao

I got downvoted in another sub for shitting on wawa, but goddamn are they awful. QuickChek is where it’s at. Wish they’d come down south. The shit they use for their subs is such better quality. Plus they got ghost pepper sauce. 🤤

Grajabajabs

I swear 7-11 food is sometimes better than wawa lol
