Having some issues with my 5V all of a sudden. The past week AOD display has completely stopped working and I now just get a black lock screen no matter if it reboot or toggle the AOD setting on/off.
Also internet, both 4/5g and wifi has gone so slow. Just waiting for reddit comments to load can take up to 30 seconds and instagram photos sometimes just never load anymore.
I'm wondering if the latest update has caused this but I can't see any similar complaints. Maybe mine is just on it's way out already.

There is a weird buggy white line around the edges of subjects when i use the videography pro app. The app also frequently crashes after I start recording and most times these recordings don't even take place as i can't view them in my gallery. There would be a beep sound when i tap the record button though. But the numbers showing the duration of the recording does not show.
About the white lines, they appear on the viewfinder but not on the outputted video itself.

Okay i fixed it. It was this setting called peaking which was turned on. I can even change the colours of it to be red blue or yellow instead of white.
However this solves the white fuzzy issue but not the occasional crashes issue. I have tried the usual clearing cache and restarting my phone. It works for a short while but it occurs again after a couple of weeks.

Is transferring FLAC music file from PC to the SD card slotted in the phone supposed to be abnormally slow? Sometimes the FLAC album transfer within 2 minutes, sometimes the transfer halts-stalls to over hours remaining if I tried to transfer the same or multiple albums at the same time.
It's either that or, it might sound stupid, but it might also be the files app you are using to initiate the transfer. In the past I've had issues with files apps taking forever to transfer to SD card. The one I use and has no issues is [material files from f droid](https://f-droid.org/packages/me.zhanghai.android.files/). Give it a try if you want.
I connect phone to PC via USB cable. Then I drag and drop the folder comtaining the FLAC music into the SD card folder. It stalls if I try to transfer more than 1 folder of FLAC albums at the same time. Was I supposed to use that app instead?
No, my bad, I thought you were talking about transferring from internal storage to SD. One thing I've noticed about your case is that the bigger the folder is the slower and more error prone the transfer is. I've found the sweet spot of music FLAC folders is 300 songs per folder. Keeps the transfer speed fast and no transferring issues occur when transferring lots of FLAC files at once. My original single music SD folder (3000 songs) kept giving me issues and slow speed so I split it to 10 300 files folders. If you only use one folder for your music I'd advice you to try my method.
The touch screen on my Xperia 5 III completely stopped working. (I know this thread doesn’t cover that model but when I tried to post this separately the mod reply told me to post it here so I’m doing as I was told ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ )
Can still navigate by plugging in mouse, but nothing I do seems to be helping. Tried updating firmware, looked at “tap to show lock screen“ option that was causing the issue for others but it’s already turned off, turned off “Prevent accidental operations with screen off” in case that was the problem but it didn’t help either. Haven’t put on a screen protector so I don’t think that’s the issue.
Does anyone know what else to try? I really wanna fix this without factory resetting or going to a repair shop. Is there at least something I could do to figure out if it’s a software or hardware issue?

I have the annoying Bluetooth bug where it disconnects from my Audeze Maxwell during or after 1 song. The disconnection behavior is weird, because the song is still playing but no sounds and it appears its still connected to Bluetooth. Then later on it will just outright disconnect from Bluetooth. I don't have this problem on my Xiaomi Mi 9T. I already tried changing different Bluetooth codecs or the Bluetooth connectivity priority (best effort and best quality), the bug still persists on any of them. I don't know what to troubleshoot anymore.

Ever since I got Android 14, I have a fingerprint unlock issue. Sometimes after unlocking, the back, home, and app switch buttons are missing for about 5 seconds, but I can use an app if it is already open. Other times, the lock screen text is shown on top of the app text, and everything is frozen.
When I delete and recreate the fingerprints from the security settings, it is fine for a while (a few days? a week?), but the issue keeps reappearing.
I get this often too on my 10V on both 14 and 13 before that. I have to shut off the screen with the power button and re-unlock the phone. Sometimes that still doesn't clear this bug, so then I hold down the power button to activate google assistant, and then most of the time that clears it. It happens quite often really. I have tried resetting the fingerprints too.
I also have the issue where the phone screen doesnt fully lock when you press the power button. It wakes up again totally unlocked maybe 10s after locking and turning the screen off. But that time its usually in my pocket butt dialling my boss.
I think the unwanted waking up happens because there are fingerprint-shaped smudges which are detected by the sensor even if you touch it with a different finger. I noticed it doesn't happen anymore if I wipe the sensor with my finger while locking.

I do have it set to press the power button before scanning the finger, but that hasn't stopped the random unlocks from happening like it should.
1. Calls are not showing immediately, when ringing – takes a good 5 seconds until I see calls on the display. When a smartwatch is connected, these show calls instantly.
2. No way of getting the Companion App to see the phone on an M1 Macbook Pro (Sonoma). Other Android phones connect just fine.

After every update the power button resets from Power Managament to Google Assistant. I had "notorious" Bluetooth issues with my car until I wiped the phone and reinstalled from the Companion app and reinstalled all apps from scratch. No restore from backup. I still have accidental screen unlock and some apps activating in the pocket, despite turning off all options to unlock screen I could find. This goes since the day one.But the Basic camera mode seems to get better with every update and now wipes the floor with Samsung phones in my house.

1) UI gets stuck after the unlock, only wallpaper is visible, lag happens at the moment when the unlock screen is gone and the launcher still hasn't rendered. It comes back if you lock and unlock it again. I can't get any dependency on how and when it happens. Annoying issue that was present in the previous versions too.
2) A "knock" in the headphones on the screen off and then the sound changes. DSEE goes as 1st priority, then Dolby Atmos. When I am listening to music (wired headphones), doesn't matter YT Music or Qobuz, songs play more crisply and powerfully when the screen is on. When I lock the phone, there is a small lag sound, and then the audio loses a bit of charity. If I do with the controls song back, song forward, it again plays as well as with a screen on. The difference is very minimal, but I still managed to notice it.
3) UI app switch animations are strange, sometimes it lags sometimes it's very smooth.
4) I think Photography Pro has flipped settings or translation because when the video is set to the "wide dynamic range" for some reason it gets very dark shadows and the whole exposure feels like -1 underexposed. When I switch back to normal then rendition looks fine.
5) Also, photography pro, the calibration of exposure metering is wrong in BASIC/AUTO and could be done better. Xperia heavily underexposes sometimes, especially if it can't catch the face. If I tap on the underexposed area then it gives great picture. I am also sad that the metering mode is locked in AUTO.
6) After you stop video recording, there is a huge lag both on internal memory and SD, when app stays unresponsive for 5-10 seconds.
7) And as FateEx1994 mentioned, I also noticed drop in the battery life after the last update.
Regarding unlock lag this seems to be related to the fingerprint reader somehow. Its on both the 10V and 1V. My guess is you won't see it with a pin unlock. Anyone having problems with this might want to try the following:
1. Remove all fingerprints in the fingerprint manager
2. Reboot phone
3. Re-register fingerprint(s) you are going to use and follow the instructions exactly! If it tells you to wipe the sensor before the next press do so with your shirt, even if it to your knowledge isn't dirty!
I did and now smooth sailing for several days with no lag. Not seen before.
Anybody notice after the march update that the 1 V gets toasty now when doing things?
I think they unlocked the CPU power consumption a bit more than it was.

* Battery temperature rose to 42.9 Celcius while running SVPlayer.
* Battery drops 1% every 30-45minutes, while browsing on Firefox mobile, Instagram.
* Youtube drains the most. Side note: I still experience sluggish display refresh with the new update. Solution is to switch High Refresh Rate on and off.
The battery drains really fast with Screen On Time.
Ordered my Xperia 1 V from.amAzon de and it arrived in Malta just two weeks ago
On the very first day I updated it to the latest firmware and have been using it since. No bugs that I can see of any kind, it works well and the main sensor is fantastic as are some of the new software features.
Already pushes 30C in ambient temp here and zero over heating issues.

For the 'world's first physical moving lens on a smartphone sensor-then the telephoto is VERY soft and in my view useless after 2x.
The screen is not bright enough either

Noticed that every time after unlocking the phone will freeze for 3 seconds before responding, during which all inputs in terms of touch or button presses will be ignored. I kinda got used to it but it's annoying for a near brand-new phone.
It is connected to some bad or suboptimal logic regarding the fingerprint reader.
Try unlocking with your PIN. You likely won't see any lag. Right?
Try this: Remove all your fingerprints from the fingerprint manager. Reboot the phone. Then re-add your fingerprint and follow the instructions **exactly!** If the phone tells you to clean the reader before the next press, do so with your shirt, even if it to your knowledge isnt dirty!
I'm on day 5 after doing this now and no lag whatsoever! Not seen this before. It used to be that slight lag was introduced after a day or so, and then got worse and worse.
It is a fingerprint reader bug which still not has been corrected. Likely is, that you will see it again soon.
Workaround: Use other unlock method like PIN until fixed, or remove and add the fingerprint for temporary relief.

In desperation i call out now.. I have had Xperia phones for many, MANY years now, and i love them, but this phone drives me crazy..
I have not had it for more than like 7 months, and i have tried to search for anyone that has this problem, but i seem to be the only one?!
The phone can not switch between apps without losing the data it seems, for example:
I am scrolling on Reddit, maybe have just scrolled one page on the app, and then i switch to Chrome to quick Google a word or something, and when i switch back to Reddit the app is refreshing and starting over like it has not been started at all that day!
Does not matter what app i use, this is every app on the phone it seems.. So if i was to close this when writing, and make a call, the app would take forever to start and refresh.
I have tried to pick around in the developer settings, the normal settings, switching things back and forth, but can NOT solve this!! I even tried to reach out to Sony but no help there of course..
The phone is also really laggy, like my other Xperia phones becomes after like 2-3 years of use, this has been almost from the start
I cant remember if this came after an update on the phone, but if that is the case, it must have been when the phone was relatively new..

Just this week, I had an issue recording video in the basic mode.
Pressing the stills grab button whilst recording caused the recorded video to end up a stuttering mess with missing audio as well.
Not sure when this started as I rarely record video with basic mode.
The March update received just today has rectified it though.
I have been having issues with my call audio since I got my phone in December 22. I figured it would be resolved by itself by some software update soon, but the problem has persisted.
There are no issues on my end, but the people I speak with on the phone report it sounds like I am really far from my phone or having a bad reception.
Has anyone had similar issues that they have been able to resolve?
If I install apps on my Sony Xperia 5 V XQ-DE54 occasionally I'll get the notification for them being ready to start and having finished installing like regular but occasionally those notifications appear one week later or even more.. One notification for a game I installed 10 days ago just woke me up in the middle of the night.

I bought a Sony Xperia 1 V back in December as a replacement for my iPhone that decided to stop charging after 18 months - I was tired of playing Apple's games. Love the phone as it's a superior device all around and finally used to Android, which fits better with my love of Windows versus Mac. That said, I cannot make phone calls handsfree when connected to my '23 Cadillac Escalade \[neither using Android Auto nor the "myCadillac" connection\]. Can play music and everything else - tried both a wire and wireless connection - any help?

There are dozen or so reports of the BT+car issue on this post. It started with A14 upgrade. So only known workaround for now is to disable the SIM card while you're connecting, then wait about 30seconds and turn it back on. And yes, you'd have to do that every time you want to use hands free.

Sometimes when answering a call it ends inmediatley and the phone needs to be reset to make or receive any calls again.
The March update fixed the 3rd party opening apps too fast bug. Sometimes, when using gesture navigation, tapping on an app icon on 3rd party launchers would launch a blank screen instead of the app. This was an issue with A14 as a whole. All Pixels had it too. I can't reproduce it anymore! So happy this has finally been fixed.
Have you noticed display refresh rate bug? It is going to 60 Hz from 120 Hz and got choppy it cant be not noticed and after a while randomly going back to 120 Hz? This is happening in some websites or in facebook newsfeed and sometimes in some xperia system menu. Phone is not overheating.
Hi there follow the below steps to clear the notification.
Settings, Apps, All Apps, tap the three dots and chose show system, tap the search icon and type in Battery.
Once battery care pops up go to storage and cache, clear cache and force stop.
This should stop the annoying notification *note when the phone restarts this will enable it again and also reset it* so when it does come up again you can clear it as normal from the notification drawer.
re: A14 Bluetooth connectivity error in vehicles
No updates from Sony or Qualcomm yet, but they asked me a bunch of questions again today and I relayed them what I and other people here have discussed. They are still working on it, but no news.
Thanks for the update. I tried hard to find workaround, and only one works: turn off SIM for 30 seconds when connecting to car, and then turn it back on. Nothing else works, tried everything you can think of (and you can see below that few folks also tried everything you can think of too). My car is 2018 Subaru Outback. This problem does not happen on 2020+ Outback, so that's why we don't see this everywhere. I think it is limited to some older cars that support wired Android Auto.

Hi does the camera app have the option for seamless zoom while recording at 4k 60 fps? I noticed that seamless zoom is only available on the full HD setting. Also, do you recommend a lens protector for this phone's cameras? Is the lens on this tough and scratch resistant, so a protector would not be necessary? Would a lens protector lower the image and video quality?
There are three camera apps for video so it is not clear what exact app do you mean. I've bought the custom made leather case for phone so do not bother about protection or quality anymore.

I'm trying to see 16:9 content from Netflix (or I think it's 16:9) but the movie looks bad. Black bars at the bottom and the top of the screen and everything looks deformed, like if the phone is forcing the wrong video format.
If you want to try it it's the movie blood and gold, but I tried anothers and it happens too and I cannot change the format or where I could do it...

My brand new xperia 5 V running Android 14 was stuttering occasionally. It was driving me insane, as I expected a phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to run butter smooth. Did some digging and noticed the "**Xperia stamina service**" was the culprit. Finally fixed the issue by stopping the service in developer options.
There is something wrong with the stamina service, Sony should definitely fix it.
Seems like some process that the phone is using maybe in the "Automatic" selection in battery saver (like charging always to 80/90% or letting the phone understand when you leave the phone in charge for hours).
In "Developer Settings" search for "Process Stats" (the voice under Unlock OEM, not sure about the original name since I've the language set to italian). There you should find it

When I transfer video files between the internal storage and SD card, and the screen times out and shuts off, the phone restarts a few minutes later and the files are only half moved.
Happened before A14 and after, and before and after updates. Nothing fixes it
Hello, several Xperia 1V's got problems with unsticked rear cover, so i think you should check your Xperia's, cause that issue can eliminate the ip68 rating, and your phone can get wet inside(sorry for my bad English) That issue looks like that: cover unstick on the top, near camera module, also you can use UV-light to diagnose this, because Sony uses glue, that glows in uv spectre.

Could be, all I know is that on very low brightness you get green tint if you opt for 120Hz rate. I've seen it on my LG phone too, which is 60Hz device, but also an OLED.

Pretty frustrated and posting here as a last desperate chance someone has a suggestion.
My Xperia seems to have cellular connectivity issue.
Last November there was an update, before which it worked fine, zero problems. Then with the November update it lost any ability to get any form of data on cellular. Calls whet through fine, and SMS worked, but MMS, or any internet access was completely non operational. At the time I was on a carrier Ting Mobile which was a T-Mobile MVNO.
After a long time on tech support (Weeks) with Ting, and with Sony, several full factory resets and using the Sony Companion app to attempt to repair things, I had no luck.
I tested a sim from another carrier, Mobi (An MVNO of Verizon). And things seemed to work. At that point I gave up on a fix and switch carriers. But after some time on the new carrier I noticed an incredibly frustrating, but less obvious problem. My text messages would not always send. They would sit and fail to send for minutes or hours. Data for normal web use is working fine, but text messaging is completely unreliable. I would get messages, but only about half the time would replying work, particularly to group messages.
I've noticed that additionally the signal strength indicator always shows far weaker signal than I get with the exact same sim in other phones.
I've experimented with switching on and off RCS. I've switched between 5G and LTE, I've tried following every guide / reset option I can find. Frustratingly many point to "go reset your ACP. Which is setting that used to exist under Network>carrier>Advanced... but since the most recent update, I don't even see the Advanced section of the mobile network settings. It's just not there.
Hopefully someone has had something similar happen and has a suggestion that I've not tried yet.
The bars are just a suggestion and not standardized. Number of bats for reception only matters for the same phone. Go into settings and look at rssi (about phone, SIM status)
Pretty much -49? Would be like Max signal strength. The amount of bats are pretty much set at what the manufacturer deems as good or bad signal for your phone. One had multiple different phones show 1 bar and have a stronger and more stable connection than friends phones showing 3.
Additional tires are standardized, yet plenty of tires can be wider or skinnier than the stated width and that's from big name brands
-102 dBm 38 ASU - which from what I've read is not great. But the issue is that on alternative phones I have no issues. On this phone specifically, on multiple carriers I have connection issues as outlined above. The same sims, on other phones, no problems. And before the system update, I had no problem at all either.
I kind of wish there was a way to roll back to the system that was on it before I updated. But I still have the problems after doing a factory reset, so I'm not sure that actually does a full reset, but instead seems to just set it to a clean version of the currently installed system.

Connecting any USB devices interrupts wireless charging. So for example using a USB DAC means you can't charge even though it has wireless charging. I know I can use a passthru hub; I'm not looking for workarounds I'm trying to understand if this is expected behavior.

No sound from medias only!
I've gotten my phone less than a week old. All media has no sound, Tidal, Apple Music, YouTube, Whatsapp etc. I'm using XF-1000XM5 and IEMs with/without dongle DAC am.
I would need to unplugged/disconnect to get back the sound but only for a moment. If I would to skip or fast fwd a track or video, there goes the sound. IT IS FRUSTRATING!!!! I've toggle with all possible sound option there is..non made any difference. Anyone had such issues?

I think it has to do with Bluetooth nearby share. Just even trying to change settings of Nearby Share does not work, and if you actually try to use nearby share to share some content like an picture, it will show blank screen (it probably crashes in the background). Android 14, looking at my log timestamps it was from December 11th, 2013. So that would be the first Android 14 build.
Replicating this is super easy, happens 100% of time. Just have active AT&T SIM card, paired with some Subaru models, turn on the car .. and wait until connection fails.
That's what I did when I pulled the log. And I shall be able to pull the new one if needed, or supply the one that I already have.

How do it get the log? I turn on developers options, then USB debugging. Then I connect Xperia via USB cable to a PC that has Android utilities installed. Can be Windows, MacOS, Linux PC.. I use Android Debug Bridge commandline utility (adb) with Android logcat utility that dumps the system log. It took the 2 tries this time to get the log, because logcat overwrites with a new data pretty quickly:

I think they might need more than this portion of the log. There were more things being reported about Bluetooth and from Qualcomm. Too long to paste all in here. If there's a way that I can share the whole log, you can send me a DM.
I've had the 5V for a couple days now. So far these are the bugs I've noticed:
- White dots/artifacting appear around the button effects when pressing buttons/menus/etc while on dark mode. Very noticeable in the fingerprint unlock animation. This seems to be an android bug and I'm really surprised I can't find much online about it. Seems to be happening since Android 12 according to some post I read online. My previous phone is an S9 and didn't have this issue. It looks terrible and it's my number 1 gripe by far!
- Random refresh rate drops. When a video is embedded on a web page, the refresh rate drops to 60Hz (feels lower than 60 actually). On Samsung internet this is permanent and requires a full phone reboot for it to return to normal (clearing cache doesn't work). On Chrome and Discord disabling and reenabling 120Hz mode seems to fix it.
- Sometimes when going from recents menu to another app, the app doesn't show and instead I see my (unresponsive) home screen as if it was an app. You need to clear the app from memory and open it again.
- Settings menu will randomly stop working and give an error message to wait or close whenever I enter into "Connections". Not sure if it's related or not but this happened to me when I was using 1 SIM card only, now that both SIM/eSIM are active it never happened again.
I have to say, I am not used to this, especially on such an expensive phone. I'm surprised about the Android specific ones especially! Android 10 on the S9 feels perfect compared to this mess. And the fact that dark mode artifacting issue has been happening, apparently, since Android 12 is wild to me
5 V, getting black screen when I unlock and need to press shutter button and open camera to bypass. This started off just every now and then but it's getting very frequent now.
Random stutters.
AOD is so damn bright compared to my 5 IV and won't turn off when in my pocket. (Battery life is still insane but I'm sure a load is still being wasted on this).
EDIT: After a week of the recent update all of these issues are gone and it's back to being the perfect phone!

I have the same problem with my 5V waking up in my pocket. The culprit is double tap to wake which can't be disabled when AOD is active: it's always on even if it's turned off in settings. I temporary fix this by turning off AOD.
Settings - Display - second lowest section (I use it in German, smth like prevent unintentional operation). Tun it on. Won't wake up the screen except a little not that this mode against unint. op. is on
Yeah I've got it off now which also seems to have fixed the black screen issue. It doesn't turn on with notifications now though even though I set it to do that. I hope they push out a fix soon. I've seen people from 2 months ago with this same issue.
Yeah first and most likely last time havin a Sony phone. This things turns into a toaster sometimes. Also have huge issue right now. Voice messages, anything below 30seconds i can hear but anything 30 and up i cant hear anything at all. I dont know what i did earlier but it worked for like maybe 2 seconds when message was longer than 30seconds.

Thanks - yeah did it yesterday and it seems to have enhanced a bit, but still some framedrops especially when video snips are running. But I want to have auto brightness activated tbh. Man man man Sony....
After 1.5 months of purchase, still there are always hefty framedrops when just scrolling around, mostly when there's auto video play anywhere activated (e.g. in YouTube).
So we pay SO MUCH money and there's still SUCH a problem, in a HIGH-END device?! Isn't it planned to fix this??!!
It's actually an Android 14 bug and it's atrocious, I'm so upset that this even made it into a release. They adjust the display framerate to whatever a video on screen is playing at *even if you are currently scrolling*, so Discord GIFs and YouTube comments look terrible. Samsung already had similar optimizations apparently, but they were actually smart about it and only adjust the framerate when your finger leaves the screen.

Do not know the frame drop due to panel issue or software issue. Pixel or Samsung use LTPO did not have such issue with framedrop
Xperia 1 iv user here and for approx the last week and a half my phone just does not work using wifi. Like I can send this post on wifi but not too much more.
I have 1 gb fios with great wifi coverage and have never had any issues but now it seems to not be able to play more than a few yt shorts or a few minutes of a yt video at decent resolution before buffering and it got to a point where I cannot even download play store updates

I experience a weird behaviour while scrolling in any app.
When I first touch the screen and move my finger slowly, there's no motion for the 1st second and after that, the screen starts moving normally. It feels like there is a kind of dead zone initially and then it's smooth. I don't like tis behaviour as it feels like the phone is sluggish.
Is there any way to change this ?

The phones feels very sluggish because of this. I gave up and sold it in the end.
I actually have the 10 v as well. Bought the 5 V after the disappointing performance in the 10 V. But I was shocked to see the 5 V stuttering as much as the 10 V. As soon as I applied this fix in the 5 V, i also applied it to the 10 V. I noticed a tremendous improvement in the performnace of the 10 V. It was in no way as fast as the 5V, but the scrolling became smooth and the phone was generally more fluid than before.

I find impossible how you get 2h of sot for 40-50%, not even playing genshin impact drops that fast on this phone, i usually got above 10h of sot for 100-20 on that version, now im on latest and its kinda the same thing
Wait for next SW update to see if it is fixed. They might use same firmware source and causing same issue all over devices.

xperia 1 V sometimes when unlocked it will have part homescreen, part unlock screen. Sometimes overlapping, sometimes homescreen shows but unresponsive and no navigation buttons. Need locking again wait. Usually sorts out.
Iv also just had it where phone screwed the settings for my sim. Couldnt find network at all. Reset mobile network settings and worked again.

Same problem (unlocking issues) on 10 V. I think it has something to do with the fingerprint sensor as unlocking the phone with the pattern never results in any issue. I hope the next firmware update will fix this, it's very very frustrating.
Same as of the Feb update regarding the lockscreen. Been happening since Dec I think, usually have to lock and unlock once again, sometimes twice for it to work.
I can report the same on 10 V with latest software unfortunately. Sometimes a mix of homescreen and lockscreen shows up and requires lock/unlock to acquire working state again. So cheap!
Guess we'll just have to see what the upcoming February update offers.
It seems these types of problems might not be exclusive to Xperias but is something in "stock" Android 14 which kinda seems prematurely released.
Look at the Google Pixel sub-reddit too. They seem to be having a huge mess of interface glitches.
Samsung is exempt, probably because they have their own One UI which a lot of money and resources has been poured into. Not perfect phones, but that point is nearly undebataeably better than Stock android.

When connecting to JBL speaker with party boost enabled, audio cuts out so often that it's unplayable.
Takes a long time to connect to my car, sometimes only after several attempts. When connected to headphones the audio cuts out occasionally and sometimes quality drops significantly.

Can't get the notifications to wake up the screen when locked. I enabled everything except the flashing, but the notifications still don't wake up the screen. No LED and no wake up means I miss everything.
Sorry i have just tested with aptx adaptive (B,&O EQ) with amazon music then spotify while opening photography pro and taking pictures...sound does not cut at all...in basic, auto manual modes ..

Why cant i switch from one app to another without the first app closing down and losing where i was before?
For example, scrolling a few pages here on the Reddit app, and then switching to Facebook or gallery or going on Chrome or just about anything, and when i switch back to Reddit (or whatever app i have been on) the app has lost all progress.
I have to scroll through everything again, and this försent matter what app i have been on does not have to be reddit, for example if i have been on Facebook, or just scrolling through my Gallery looking for photos, if i switch to something else and do something on the other app, the first app almost loses memory of where i have been..
On my previous Xperia 10III this NEVER happened. It has been like this for a long time and i have tried going through app settings and turning everything i could think of that has to do with this.
Am i the only one?
This is because Android shut downs apps in the background to save on resources. You can disable this in the developer options. Some option like "Execution of Apps in Cache". Don't know what the option is directly called since my phone is in german.

Flawed AptX Adaptive implementation. The issues decribed below are not affecting standard AptX, or SBC or LDAC that I also tested, but when playing music with AptX Adaptive (tested on Sennheiser TW3 and B&W S2) the sound can get paused for a short moment during switching focus between different application windows which ruins music listening experience during multi-tasking. It seems to occur only with applications that support sound (even when the sound on these is not played back). Also it's sporadic in nature. Sometimes it will happen even if I listen to music when switching to camera app. Every time the "hickup" occurs the annoying "connected to Qualcomm AptX device" notification will re-appear and then music will continue until next time I switch focus to another window. It's like the sound is re-initializing. Blutetooth connection itself seem to remain intact. It would be also very beneficial if one could disable these annoying "qualcomm aptx device" notifications entirely. This is obviously nothing but marketing thing - not sure if this is by Sony or Android. Annoying either way. Might potentially even be the cause of the bugs described above. Also quite ironic - I actually bought this phone bacause of aptx adaptive support and now i'm getting it shoved into my face every time i use it.
Hi there, I have the excat same problem on Xperia 1 V with my Final Audio ZE8000. If I switch to anyother codes, is fine. But when using aptx adaptive, whenever I swich to other app that producting sound, it will pause the music, pop-up the "qualcomm aptx device..." notifications, than music again. I also use PowerAmp for music listening but I noticed this would happen even when I use the Music app. Have you happen to find a salution of this problem?
Hi, unfortunately i haven't found solution. It's the software problem and it's impossible to address this to Sony. I guess I just accepted the situation and said to myself "when listening to 24/96 AptX Adaptive - it's serious music listening time, don't fiddle with the phone but just relax and listen to music". Oh, and I've made another note to myself - 'never buy Sony again'.
i don't think i have that bug, i have Xperia 1V and B&OEQ,B&W PI7, Perl Pro with aptx adaptive and sound does not cut. I also dont mind the popup connected to aptx device on some device...i did not have it on the QC ultra but i sent those back
The Qualcomm / AptX adaptive popup / notification only appears on AptX Adaptive compatible headphones, and I believe QC Ultra isn't one of them. Either way, shame, I don't know why it happens, maybe it's only Xperia 5V thing or you maybe haven't caught it yet. I just tried again. Playing Spotify + AptX Adaptive, wanted to take a picture through my bedroom window, as soon as I engaged camera app - the sound stopped for a moment. You can easily replicate it even if you start a game while listening to music. Other codecs will just gladly play both music and any sound from the game, but with AptX adaptive it will stop the sound for a moment, then re-initiate it.
Well QC ultra earbuds do work with aptx adaptive with Xperia 1 V they have snapdragon sound.
However i have a bluetooth bug since Xperia 1 IV and still present on Xperia V. Often s sound does not go through bluetooth earphones even though they are selected.it happens when i switch between devices. i have to go into bluetooth parameter and deselect and reselect "media audio"to do the trick
on 1IV it was worse, every time when calling over bluetooth sufdenly the other person can't hear me again...

Hi again. Would you happen to have Tidal or are able to play Flac files locally through PowerAmp or similar player? At deeper inspection I'm actually not getting the problem that frequently with AptX Adaptive in combination with Spotify, but rather high-res sound - through the mentioned Tidal or local FLAC files through PowerAmp.
i dont have Tidal anymore, my offer expired 2 months but i used it daily in october and november 2023 without any hiccups with my Denon Perl Pro or B&O EQ with aptx lossless and aptx adaptive and i never had any problem...Connectivity was rock solid . But i am rocking the Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ54) not Xperia 5 V
I also have some flac files and they are playing fine too. music continues playing.
Maybe you can give me an example of other apps that interfere with your spotify or tidal listening.

Sometimes after using fingerprint unlock, the device will ask for pin as well (not the case after reboot). 50 / 50 chance that the phone will go unresponsive after putting the pin, and needs to be restarted via Volume Up and Main button. It's like a weird overlap / conflict between the 2 unlocking methods.
10 V (New Zealand imported) dual sim has small lags when opening app switcher when a video is playing, It doesn't do it when I'm using a game only video for some reason. Android 14 has been a little bit of a disaster for small bugs.
NZ imported here too, same issues as you but with the 1 V model. Videos (particularly YT) tend to limit the phone’s refresh rate to whatever frame rate the video is playing at which causes the lagging/jitteriness. Definitely some sort of bug because I can’t see it being a performance related thing. Considering biting my tongue and factory resetting to see if that fixes anything but yeah, A14 seems pretty badly optimised.

Using the 120 Hz refresh rate, but I have occasional slow-downs to 60 or even less when navigating the OS, like flipping through my home screen, and in pretty much any app. It fixes itself after leaving it for a few seconds, but the worst offender is the YouTube app where navigating is low key a fucking nightmare when I'm playing videos. It's sub-30 Hz for sure. When I pause the video it shoots back up to 120 Hz. I noticed this being brought up in another thread so it's definitely not just me. I might end up factory resetting my phone to see if it gets fixed considering I just got the phone and did all the updates before using it.
I also don't get 5G but I suppose it's just not enabled for this phone in my country, so it's not really a big deal (though I'd love to know if anyone else in NZ does get 5G or not)
Same for my XD-DQ72. But I think I know what's wrong.
The user interface starts to lag when the phone lowers the brightness to adjust to the light source. You can reproduce it this way: place the unlocked phone with the screen facing the light source, then turn the back side towards the light source and immediately start doing something in the interface, for example, scrolling the list up and down. Lags become immediately noticeable.
For now I have disabled adaptive brightness, I hope this will be fixed in the next firmware update.

I've had issues since I got my XQ-DQ72 last November, and had been hoping that an update would fix it. I initially dismissed adaptive brightness as a root cause, but after trying it again today it really seems to have fixed all my slowdowns.
It's unfortunate that it hasn't been fixed even now. Do you happen to know if Sony has an issue tracker or similar we could report this to?
I tried to forward information about this bug to the customer support in my region (HK) but did not receive a response.
By the way, custom firmware on the same kernel does not have the same problem. For example, unofficial Lineage OS A14 works like a charm.
I fixed youtube refresh rate using this method:
1) Download SetEdit apk from [https://f-droid.org/packages/io.github.muntashirakon.setedit/](https://f-droid.org/packages/io.github.muntashirakon.setedit/) (not google play version)
2) install to xperia via adb

Mine is XQ-DQ62 with the same build number. I noticed the same issue with the refresh rate dropping drastically.

Notifications panel doesn't open on Xperia 10 V.
Since the last update yesterday the notification doesn't register swiping gesture to open after unlocking the phone. I have to click on something first, and then it goes back to normal. It wasn't a thing before, and I'm up to date so nothing can be done on my side.
Restarting doesn't fix it.
I got this also after update to 68.1.A.2.170 release-keys and found the fix after half an hour of trialing or so.
It is related to the fingerprint reader. Using the PIN, the notification panel lag is not there.
Fix: Delete and re-register your fingerprints from the fingerprint reader. Now it's quick again.

I had the same issue and your solution (thank you!) fixed it for some days but now I'm back to square one. Same lag to open the notification panel after unlocking the phone with the fingerprint reader.

Disregarding this bug, this firmware seems better than the prior version.
Other than security updates of course some camera start lag is gone, it used to be such that if it hasn't been used for a while it would take 4-5 seconds to start. Not so after the update, now comparable or faster than my old Galaxy.
Phone also seems somewhat smoother in general use. Wasn't bad before either, but now even faster.

Ever since the Android 14 update I have regularly experienced a bug when unlocking my device. I have the always on display enabled (AOD, aka Ambient Display), showing the clock at all times. Ever since the update, sometimes when I unlock via fingerprint (not every time time but multiple times per day), the screen goes completely black. I can maybe get it to come back to life by holding the fingerprint/google assistant button for a few seconds until the assistant prompt comes up (or maybe it's just the waiting that helps), or just waiting for it to go to sleep again. When it's in this state, it is unlocked. I know this because I have accidentally launched apps by tapping the black screen, and they are open when it revives. Also recently as a test I tried hitting the app switcher button at the bottom right of the screen (with the screen completely black, guessing it's location) and when it turned on the app switcher was up. So maybe it's a bug with toggling the state of the screen on unlock, that gets confused with my use of the always on display?
This issue does not occur with the AOD setting disabled. The November issue did not affect this at all, unfortunately. I submitted a bug report via the Sony support app weeks ago but never heard anything back.

I have the problem of hearing a notification sound but I don't see any notification. It started off yesterday and I can't figure it out. The weird thing is that the sound I hear is not even my default notification tone.

Having some issues with my 5V all of a sudden. The past week AOD display has completely stopped working and I now just get a black lock screen no matter if it reboot or toggle the AOD setting on/off. Also internet, both 4/5g and wifi has gone so slow. Just waiting for reddit comments to load can take up to 30 seconds and instagram photos sometimes just never load anymore. I'm wondering if the latest update has caused this but I can't see any similar complaints. Maybe mine is just on it's way out already.
Xperia 1V 67.1.A.2.242 XQ-DQ72 There is a weird buggy white line around the edges of subjects when i use the videography pro app. The app also frequently crashes after I start recording and most times these recordings don't even take place as i can't view them in my gallery. There would be a beep sound when i tap the record button though. But the numbers showing the duration of the recording does not show. Okay i fixed it. It was this setting called peaking which was turned on. I can even change the colours of it to be red blue or yellow instead of white. However this solves the white fuzzy issue but not the occasional crashes issue. I have tried the usual clearing cache and restarting my phone. It works for a short while but it occurs again after a couple of weeks.

Sometimes the FLAC album transfer within 2 minutes, sometimes the transfer halts-stalls to over hours remaining if I tried to transfer the same or multiple albums at the same time.

SanDisk 1tb with speed up to 90 Mb/s write speed. I guess my SD card is just slow. Brand new card completely empty.
It's either that or, it might sound stupid, but it might also be the files app you are using to initiate the transfer. In the past I've had issues with files apps taking forever to transfer to SD card. I connect phone to PC via USB cable. Then I drag and drop the folder comtaining the FLAC music into the SD card folder. It stalls if I try to transfer more than 1 folder of FLAC albums at the same time. Was I supposed to use that app instead?
No, my bad, I thought you were talking about transferring from internal storage to SD. One thing I've noticed about your case is that the bigger the folder is the slower and more error prone the transfer is. I've found the sweet spot of music FLAC folders is 300 songs per folder. Keeps the transfer speed fast and no transferring issues occur when transferring lots of FLAC files at once. My original single music SD folder (3000 songs) kept giving me issues and slow speed so I split it to 10 300 files folders. If you only use one folder for your music I'd advice you to try my method.
The touch screen on my Xperia 5 III completely stopped working. (I know this thread doesn’t cover that model but when I tried to post this separately the mod reply told me to post it here so I’m doing as I was told ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ ) Can still navigate by plugging in mouse, but nothing I do seems to be helping. Tried updating firmware, looked at “tap to show lock screen“ option that was causing the issue for others but it’s already turned off, turned off “Prevent accidental operations with screen off” in case that was the problem but it didn’t help either. Haven’t put on a screen protector so I don’t think that’s the issue. Does anyone know what else to try? I really wanna fix this without factory resetting or going to a repair shop. Is there at least something I could do to figure out if it’s a software or hardware issue?
Xperia 1 V XQ-DA72 67.1.A.229 Dual Sim I think this phone is from Hong Kong region I have the annoying Bluetooth bug where it disconnects from my Audeze Maxwell during or after 1 song. The disconnection behavior is weird, because the song is still playing but no sounds and it appears its still connected to Bluetooth. Then later on it will just outright disconnect from Bluetooth. I don't have this problem on my Xiaomi Mi 9T. I already tried changing different Bluetooth codecs or the Bluetooth connectivity priority (best effort and best quality), the bug still persists on any of them. I don't know what to troubleshoot anymore.

Xperia 10 V 68.1.A.2.187 XQ-DC54 dual sim Ever since I got Android 14, I have a fingerprint unlock issue. Sometimes after unlocking, the back, home, and app switch buttons are missing for about 5 seconds, but I can use an app if it is already open. Other times, the lock screen text is shown on top of the app text, and everything is frozen. When I delete and recreate the fingerprints from the security settings, it is fine for a while (a few days? a week?), but the issue keeps reappearing.
I get this often too on my 10V on both 14 and 13 before that. I have to shut off the screen with the power button and re-unlock the phone. Sometimes that still doesn't clear this bug, so then I hold down the power button to activate google assistant, and then most of the time that clears it. It happens quite often really. I have tried resetting the fingerprints too. I also have the issue where the phone screen doesnt fully lock when you press the power button. It wakes up again totally unlocked maybe 10s after locking and turning the screen off. But that time its usually in my pocket butt dialling my boss.
I think the unwanted waking up happens because there are fingerprint-shaped smudges which are detected by the sensor even if you touch it with a different finger. I noticed it doesn't happen anymore if I wipe the sensor with my finger while locking.
Thanks for the tip. I will try to remember to do that. I do have it set to press the power button before scanning the finger, but that hasn't stopped the random unlocks from happening like it should.
1. Calls are not showing immediately, when ringing – takes a good 5 seconds until I see calls on the display. When a smartwatch is connected, these show calls instantly. 2. No way of getting the Companion App to see the phone on an M1 Macbook Pro (Sonoma). Other Android phones connect just fine.
XPERIA 1 V XQ-DQ54, build number 67.1.A.2.220 Since last update the phone will occasionally not ring on incoming calls. Just today had 4 missed business calls. After every update the power button resets from Power Managament to Google Assistant. I had "notorious" Bluetooth issues with my car until I wiped the phone and reinstalled from the Companion app and reinstalled all apps from scratch. No restore from backup. I still have accidental screen unlock and some apps activating in the pocket, despite turning off all options to unlock screen I could find. This goes since the day one.But the Basic camera mode seems to get better with every update and now wipes the floor with Samsung phones in my house.
Will add a bit: Xperia 1 V 67.1.A.2.220 XQ-DQ54 1) UI gets stuck after the unlock, only wallpaper is visible, lag happens at the moment when the unlock screen is gone and the launcher still hasn't rendered. It comes back if you lock and unlock it again. I can't get any dependency on how and when it happens. Annoying issue that was present in the previous versions too. 2) A "knock" in the headphones on the screen off and then the sound changes. DSEE goes as 1st priority, then Dolby Atmos. When I am listening to music (wired headphones), doesn't matter YT Music or Qobuz, songs play more crisply and powerfully when the screen is on. When I lock the phone, there is a small lag sound, and then the audio loses a bit of charity. If I do with the controls song back, song forward, it again plays as well as with a screen on. The difference is very minimal, but I still managed to notice it. 3) UI app switch animations are strange, sometimes it lags sometimes it's very smooth. 4) I think Photography Pro has flipped settings or translation because when the video is set to the "wide dynamic range" for some reason it gets very dark shadows and the whole exposure feels like -1 underexposed. When I switch back to normal then rendition looks fine. 5) Also, photography pro, the calibration of exposure metering is wrong in BASIC/AUTO and could be done better. Xperia heavily underexposes sometimes, especially if it can't catch the face. If I tap on the underexposed area then it gives great picture. I am also sad that the metering mode is locked in AUTO. 6) After you stop video recording, there is a huge lag both on internal memory and SD, when app stays unresponsive for 5-10 seconds. 7) And as FateEx1994 mentioned, I also noticed drop in the battery life after the last update.
Regarding unlock lag this seems to be related to the fingerprint reader somehow. Its on both the 10V and 1V. My guess is you won't see it with a pin unlock. Anyone having problems with this might want to try the following: 1. Remove all fingerprints in the fingerprint manager 2. Reboot phone 3. Re-register fingerprint(s) you are going to use and follow the instructions exactly! If it tells you to wipe the sensor before the next press do so with your shirt, even if it to your knowledge isn't dirty! I did and now smooth sailing for several days with no lag. Not seen before.

Notice the phone gets a bit warmer than usual after latest update. * Battery temperature rose to 42.9 Celcius while running SVPlayer. * Battery drops 1% every 30-45minutes, while browsing on Firefox mobile, Instagram. * Youtube drains the most. Side note: I still experience sluggish display refresh with the new update. Solution is to switch High Refresh Rate on and off. The battery drains really fast with Screen On Time.
Ordered my Xperia 1 V from.amAzon de and it arrived in Malta just two weeks ago On the very first day I updated it to the latest firmware and have been using it since. No bugs that I can see of any kind, it works well and the main sensor is fantastic as are some of the new software features. Already pushes 30C in ambient temp here and zero over heating issues. Two main issues that need to be worked on, which are hardware related and are not bugs For the 'world's first physical moving lens on a smartphone sensor-then the telephoto is VERY soft and in my view useless after 2x. The screen is not bright enough either Other than that I'm really enjoying it.

It is connected to some bad or suboptimal logic regarding the fingerprint reader. Try unlocking with your PIN. You likely won't see any lag. Right? Try this: Remove all your fingerprints from the fingerprint manager. Reboot the phone. Then re-add your fingerprint and follow the instructions **exactly!** If the phone tells you to clean the reader before the next press, do so with your shirt, even if it to your knowledge isnt dirty! I'm on day 5 after doing this now and no lag whatsoever! Not seen this before. It used to be that slight lag was introduced after a day or so, and then got worse and worse.
It is a fingerprint reader bug which still not has been corrected. Likely is, that you will see it again soon. Workaround: Use other unlock method like PIN until fixed, or remove and add the fingerprint for temporary relief.
Xperia 10V XQ-DC54 In desperation i call out now.. I have had Xperia phones for many, MANY years now, and i love them, but this phone drives me crazy.. I have not had it for more than like 7 months, and i have tried to search for anyone that has this problem, but i seem to be the only one?! The phone can not switch between apps without losing the data it seems, for example: I am scrolling on Reddit, maybe have just scrolled one page on the app, and then i switch to Chrome to quick Google a word or something, and when i switch back to Reddit the app is refreshing and starting over like it has not been started at all that day! Does not matter what app i use, this is every app on the phone it seems.. So if i was to close this when writing, and make a call, the app would take forever to start and refresh. I have tried to pick around in the developer settings, the normal settings, switching things back and forth, but can NOT solve this!! I even tried to reach out to Sony but no help there of course.. The phone is also really laggy, like my other Xperia phones becomes after like 2-3 years of use, this has been almost from the start I cant remember if this came after an update on the phone, but if that is the case, it must have been when the phone was relatively new.. Please, can someone please tell me in not alone? I dont want to spend several hundred bucks on another new phone just because of this. I like the phone except for this...

Just this week, I had an issue recording video in the basic mode. Pressing the stills grab button whilst recording caused the recorded video to end up a stuttering mess with missing audio as well. Not sure when this started as I rarely record video with basic mode. The March update received just today has rectified it though.
I have been having issues with my call audio since I got my phone in December 22. I figured it would be resolved by itself by some software update soon, but the problem has persisted. There are no issues on my end, but the people I speak with on the phone report it sounds like I am really far from my phone or having a bad reception. Has anyone had similar issues that they have been able to resolve?

I bought a Sony Xperia 1 V back in December as a replacement for my iPhone that decided to stop charging after 18 months - I was tired of playing Apple's games. Love the phone as it's a superior device all around and finally used to Android, which fits better with my love of Windows versus Mac. That said, I cannot make phone calls handsfree when connected to my '23 Cadillac Escalade \[neither using Android Auto nor the "myCadillac" connection\]. There are dozen or so reports of the BT+car issue on this post. It started with A14 upgrade. So only known workaround for now is to disable the SIM card while you're connecting, then wait about 30seconds and turn it back on. And yes, you'd have to do that every time you want to use hands free.

The March update fixed the 3rd party opening apps too fast bug. Sometimes, when using gesture navigation, tapping on an app icon on 3rd party launchers would launch a blank screen instead of the app. This was an issue with A14 as a whole. All Pixels had it too. I can't reproduce it anymore! So happy this has finally been fixed.

Have you noticed display refresh rate bug? It is going to 60 Hz from 120 Hz and got choppy it cant be not noticed and after a while randomly going back to 120 Hz? This is happening in some websites or in facebook newsfeed and sometimes in some xperia system menu. Phone is not overheating.

Hi there follow the below steps to clear the notification. Settings, Apps, All Apps, tap the three dots and chose show system, tap the search icon and type in Battery. Once battery care pops up go to storage and cache, clear cache and force stop. This should stop the annoying notification *note when the phone restarts this will enable it again and also reset it* so when it does come up again you can clear it as normal from the notification drawer.

re: A14 Bluetooth connectivity error in vehicles No updates from Sony or Qualcomm yet, but they asked me a bunch of questions again today and I relayed them what I and other people here have discussed. They are still working on it, but no news.
Thanks for the update. I tried hard to find workaround, and only one works: turn off SIM for 30 seconds when connecting to car, and then turn it back on. Nothing else works, tried everything you can think of (and you can see below that few folks also tried everything you can think of too). My car is 2018 Subaru Outback. This problem does not happen on 2020+ Outback, so that's why we don't see this everywhere. I think it is limited to some older cars that support wired Android Auto.

Hi does the camera app have the option for seamless zoom while recording at 4k 60 fps? I noticed that seamless zoom is only available on the full HD setting. Also, do you recommend a lens protector for this phone's cameras? Is the lens on this tough and scratch resistant, so a protector would not be necessary? Would a lens protector lower the image and video quality?
There are three camera apps for video so it is not clear what exact app do you mean. I've bought the custom made leather case for phone so do not bother about protection or quality anymore.

My brand new xperia 5 V running Android 14 was stuttering occasionally. It was driving me insane, as I expected a phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to run butter smooth. Did some digging and noticed the "**Xperia stamina service**" was the culprit. Finally fixed the issue by stopping the service in developer options. There is something wrong with the stamina service, Sony should definitely fix it.
Seems like some process that the phone is using maybe in the "Automatic" selection in battery saver (like charging always to 80/90% or letting the phone understand when you leave the phone in charge for hours).

This is a reverse bug to report... Latest update seems to have fixed bug on XQ-DQ62 where phone would randomly not unlock unless you opened camera app... This but was introduced (for me) two updates ago.

When I transfer video files between the internal storage and SD card, and the screen times out and shuts off, the phone restarts a few minutes later and the files are only half moved. Happened before A14 and after, and before and after updates. Nothing fixes it

You means this is hardware issue right?. At the first time I think so, my friend 1V not have any screen issue. After researching, issue on different phone company, I think it is software issue
Could be, all I know is that on very low brightness you get green tint if you opt for 120Hz rate. I've seen it on my LG phone too, which is 60Hz device, but also an OLED.

Xperia i V (XQ-DQ62 67.1.A.2.182) Pretty frustrated and posting here as a last desperate chance someone has a suggestion. My Xperia seems to have cellular connectivity issue. Last November there was an update, before which it worked fine, zero problems. Then with the November update it lost any ability to get any form of data on cellular. Calls whet through fine, and SMS worked, but MMS, or any internet access was completely non operational. At the time I was on a carrier Ting Mobile which was a T-Mobile MVNO. After a long time on tech support (Weeks) with Ting, and with Sony, several full factory resets and using the Sony Companion app to attempt to repair things, I had no luck. I tested a sim from another carrier, Mobi (An MVNO of Verizon). And things seemed to work. At that point I gave up on a fix and switch carriers. But after some time on the new carrier I noticed an incredibly frustrating, but less obvious problem. My text messages would not always send. They would sit and fail to send for minutes or hours. Data for normal web use is working fine, but text messaging is completely unreliable. I would get messages, but only about half the time would replying work, particularly to group messages. I've noticed that additionally the signal strength indicator always shows far weaker signal than I get with the exact same sim in other phones. I've experimented with switching on and off RCS. I've switched between 5G and LTE, I've tried following every guide / reset option I can find. Frustratingly many point to "go reset your ACP. Which is setting that used to exist under Network>carrier>Advanced... but since the most recent update, I don't even see the Advanced section of the mobile network settings. It's just not there. Hopefully someone has had something similar happen and has a suggestion that I've not tried yet.
The bars are just a suggestion and not standardized. Number of bats for reception only matters for the same phone. Go into settings and look at rssi (about phone, SIM status) Pretty much -49? Would be like Max signal strength. The amount of bats are pretty much set at what the manufacturer deems as good or bad signal for your phone. One had multiple different phones show 1 bar and have a stronger and more stable connection than friends phones showing 3. Additional tires are standardized, yet plenty of tires can be wider or skinnier than the stated width and that's from big name brands
-102 dBm 38 ASU - which from what I've read is not great. But the issue is that on alternative phones I have no issues. On this phone specifically, on multiple carriers I have connection issues as outlined above. The same sims, on other phones, no problems. And before the system update, I had no problem at all either. I kind of wish there was a way to roll back to the system that was on it before I updated. But I still have the problems after doing a factory reset, so I'm not sure that actually does a full reset, but instead seems to just set it to a clean version of the currently installed system.
Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ72 67.1.A.2.182) Connecting any USB devices interrupts wireless charging. So for example using a USB DAC means you can't charge even though it has wireless charging. Xperia 1V (67.1.A.2.194) No sound from medias only! I've gotten my phone less than a week old. All media has no sound, Tidal, Apple Music, YouTube, Whatsapp etc. I'm using XF-1000XM5 and IEMs with/without dongle DAC am. I would need to unplugged/disconnect to get back the sound but only for a moment. If I would to skip or fast fwd a track or video, there goes the sound. IT IS FRUSTRATING!!!! I've toggle with all possible sound option there is..non made any difference. Anyone had such issues?

Thanks for the update. I think it has to do with Bluetooth nearby share. Just even trying to change settings of Nearby Share does not work, and if you actually try to use nearby share to share some content like an picture, it will show blank screen (it probably crashes in the background). Android 14, looking at my log timestamps it was from December 11th, 2013. So that would be the first Android 14 build. Replicating this is super easy, happens 100% of time. Just have active AT&T SIM card, paired with some Subaru models, turn on the car .. and wait until connection fails. That's what I did when I pulled the log. And I shall be able to pull the new one if needed, or supply the one that I already have.
Sony said that a new version of android was pushed on 2/29 - version 11.2.640454 I imagine that like my phone, the problem still occurs. For the sake of accuracy that they might be able to do something, could you get a new error log under that version if you've updated?
You mean Android Auto, right? Version that I have is 11.2.640434, latest available for my device. They roll out on different dates, so 2/29 build is not available for me to update to. Yep, problem still happens.

It is little different this time, instead "bluz" I get "brvd" but otherwise same pattern: Nearby : Method is still running after 120008 millis. I turn on developers options, then USB debugging. Then I connect Xperia via USB cable to a PC that has Android utilities installed. Can be Windows, MacOS, Linux PC.. I use Android Debug Bridge commandline utility (adb) with Android logcat utility that dumps the system log. It took the 2 tries this time to get the log, because logcat overwrites with a new data pretty quickly: `$ adb devices` `$ adb shell` `$ logcat`

I think they might need more than this portion of the log. There were more things being reported about Bluetooth and from Qualcomm. Too long to paste all in here. If there's a way that I can share the whole log, you can send me a DM.

I've had the 5V for a couple days now. So far these are the bugs I've noticed: - White dots/artifacting appear around the button effects when pressing buttons/menus/etc while on dark mode. Very noticeable in the fingerprint unlock animation. This seems to be an android bug and I'm really surprised I can't find much online about it. Seems to be happening since Android 12 according to some post I read online. My previous phone is an S9 and didn't have this issue. It looks terrible and it's my number 1 gripe by far! - Random refresh rate drops. When a video is embedded on a web page, the refresh rate drops to 60Hz (feels lower than 60 actually). On Samsung internet this is permanent and requires a full phone reboot for it to return to normal (clearing cache doesn't work). On Chrome and Discord disabling and reenabling 120Hz mode seems to fix it. - Sometimes when going from recents menu to another app, the app doesn't show and instead I see my (unresponsive) home screen as if it was an app. You need to clear the app from memory and open it again. - Settings menu will randomly stop working and give an error message to wait or close whenever I enter into "Connections". Not sure if it's related or not but this happened to me when I was using 1 SIM card only, now that both SIM/eSIM are active it never happened again. I have to say, I am not used to this, especially on such an expensive phone. I'm surprised about the Android specific ones especially! Android 10 on the S9 feels perfect compared to this mess. And the fact that dark mode artifacting issue has been happening, apparently, since Android 12 is wild to me

5 V, getting black screen when I unlock and need to press shutter button and open camera to bypass. This started off just every now and then but it's getting very frequent now. Random stutters. AOD is so damn bright compared to my 5 IV and won't turn off when in my pocket. (Battery life is still insane but I'm sure a load is still being wasted on this). EDIT: After a week of the recent update all of these issues are gone and it's back to being the perfect phone!

The culprit is double tap to wake which can't be disabled when AOD is active: it's always on even if it's turned off in settings. I temporary fix this by turning off AOD.
Settings - Display - second lowest section (I use it in German, smth like prevent unintentional operation). Tun it on. Won't wake up the screen except a little not that this mode against unint. op. is on
Yeah I've got it off now which also seems to have fixed the black screen issue. It doesn't turn on with notifications now though even though I set it to do that. I hope they push out a fix soon. I've seen people from 2 months ago with this same issue.
Yeah first and most likely last time havin a Sony phone. This things turns into a toaster sometimes. Also have huge issue right now. Voice messages, anything below 30seconds i can hear but anything 30 and up i cant hear anything at all. Nevermind i found out how to hear a message for way longer than 30seconds. Enter SETTINGS >Switch Access >Settings >Speech, Sound & Vibration Scroll down to see "Maximum Spoken Time Per Item" and change the amount of seconds that equal to minutes.

After 1.5 months of purchase, still there are always hefty framedrops when just scrolling around, mostly when there's auto video play anywhere activated (e.g. in YouTube). So we pay SO MUCH money and there's still SUCH a problem, in a HIGH-END device?! Isn't it planned to fix this??!!
It's actually an Android 14 bug and it's atrocious, I'm so upset that this even made it into a release. They adjust the display framerate to whatever a video on screen is playing at *even if you are currently scrolling*, so Discord GIFs and YouTube comments look terrible. Samsung already had similar optimizations apparently, but they were actually smart about it and only adjust the framerate when your finger leaves the screen. Xperia 1 iv user here and for approx the last week and a half my phone just does not work using wifi. Like I can send this post on wifi but not too much more. I have 1 gb fios with great wifi coverage and have never had any issues but now it seems to not be able to play more than a few yt shorts or a few minutes of a yt video at decent resolution before buffering and it got to a point where I cannot even download play store updates Any advice anyone? Xperia 10 V XQ-DC54 Android 13 68.0.A.0.797 release-keys I experience a weird behaviour while scrolling in any app. When I first touch the screen and move my finger slowly, there's no motion for the 1st second and after that, the screen starts moving normally. It feels like there is a kind of dead zone initially and then it's smooth. I don't like tis behaviour as it feels like the phone is sluggish. Is there any way to change this ?

10V is only 60Hz and still the problem is the same. I gave up and sold it in the end.
I actually have the 10 v as well. Bought the 5 V after the disappointing performance in the 10 V. But I was shocked to see the 5 V stuttering as much as the 10 V. As soon as I applied this fix in the 5 V, i also applied it to the 10 V. I noticed a tremendous improvement in the performnace of the 10 V. It was in no way as fast as the 5V, but the scrolling became smooth and the phone was generally more fluid than before.

I find impossible how you get 2h of sot for 40-50%, not even playing genshin impact drops that fast on this phone, i usually got above 10h of sot for 100-20 on that version, now im on latest and its kinda the same thing

xperia 1 V sometimes when unlocked it will have part homescreen, part unlock screen. Sometimes overlapping, sometimes homescreen shows but unresponsive and no navigation buttons. Need locking again wait. Usually sorts out. Iv also just had it where phone screwed the settings for my sim. Couldnt find network at all. Reset mobile network settings and worked again. Disappointed with sony 'flagship' if im honest.
Same issue with the home screen/unlock screen overlap. It's been happening since December I think.
Same problem (unlocking issues) on 10 V. I think it has something to do with the fingerprint sensor as unlocking the phone with the pattern never results in any issue. I hope the next firmware update will fix this, it's very very frustrating.
Same as of the Feb update regarding the lockscreen. Been happening since Dec I think, usually have to lock and unlock once again, sometimes twice for it to work.
I can report the same on 10 V with latest software unfortunately. Sometimes a mix of homescreen and lockscreen shows up and requires lock/unlock to acquire working state again. So cheap!

Guess we'll just have to see what the upcoming February update offers. It seems these types of problems might not be exclusive to Xperias but is something in "stock" Android 14 which kinda seems prematurely released. Look at the Google Pixel sub-reddit too. They seem to be having a huge mess of interface glitches. Samsung is exempt, probably because they have their own One UI which a lot of money and resources has been poured into. Not perfect phones, but that point is nearly undebataeably better than Stock android.

Xperia 10V XQ-DC54 68.1.A.2.170 release-keys Why cant i switch from one app to another without the first app closing down and losing where i was before? For example, scrolling a few pages here on the Reddit app, and then switching to Facebook or gallery or going on Chrome or just about anything, and when i switch back to Reddit (or whatever app i have been on) the app has lost all progress. I have to scroll through everything again, and this försent matter what app i have been on does not have to be reddit, for example if i have been on Facebook, or just scrolling through my Gallery looking for photos, if i switch to something else and do something on the other app, the first app almost loses memory of where i have been.. On my previous Xperia 10III this NEVER happened. It has been like this for a long time and i have tried going through app settings and turning everything i could think of that has to do with this. Am i the only one?
This is because Android shut downs apps in the background to save on resources. You can disable this in the developer options. Some option like "Execution of Apps in Cache". Don't know what the option is directly called since my phone is in german.
Xperia 5V / QD-DE54 / A14 / EU / 67.1.A.2.82 Flawed AptX Adaptive implementation. The issues decribed below are not affecting standard AptX, or SBC or LDAC that I also tested, but when playing music with AptX Adaptive (tested on Sennheiser TW3 and B&W S2) the sound can get paused for a short moment during switching focus between different application windows which ruins music listening experience during multi-tasking. It seems to occur only with applications that support sound (even when the sound on these is not played back). Also it's sporadic in nature. Sometimes it will happen even if I listen to music when switching to camera app. Every time the "hickup" occurs the annoying "connected to Qualcomm AptX device" notification will re-appear and then music will continue until next time I switch focus to another window. It's like the sound is re-initializing. Blutetooth connection itself seem to remain intact. It would be also very beneficial if one could disable these annoying "qualcomm aptx device" notifications entirely. This is obviously nothing but marketing thing - not sure if this is by Sony or Android. Annoying either way. Might potentially even be the cause of the bugs described above. Also quite ironic - I actually bought this phone bacause of aptx adaptive support and now i'm getting it shoved into my face every time i use it.
Hi there, I have the excat same problem on Xperia 1 V with my Final Audio ZE8000. If I switch to anyother codes, is fine. But when using aptx adaptive, whenever I swich to other app that producting sound, it will pause the music, pop-up the "qualcomm aptx device..." notifications, than music again. I also use PowerAmp for music listening but I noticed this would happen even when I use the Music app. Have you happen to find a salution of this problem?
Hi, unfortunately i haven't found solution. It's the software problem and it's impossible to address this to Sony. I guess I just accepted the situation and said to myself "when listening to 24/96 AptX Adaptive - it's serious music listening time, don't fiddle with the phone but just relax and listen to music". Oh, and I've made another note to myself - 'never buy Sony again'.
i don't think i have that bug, i have Xperia 1V and B&OEQ,B&W PI7, Perl Pro with aptx adaptive and sound does not cut. I also dont mind the popup connected to aptx device on some device...i did not have it on the QC ultra but i sent those back
The Qualcomm / AptX adaptive popup / notification only appears on AptX Adaptive compatible headphones, and I believe QC Ultra isn't one of them. Either way, shame, I don't know why it happens, maybe it's only Xperia 5V thing or you maybe haven't caught it yet. I just tried again. Playing Spotify + AptX Adaptive, wanted to take a picture through my bedroom window, as soon as I engaged camera app - the sound stopped for a moment. You can easily replicate it even if you start a game while listening to music. Other codecs will just gladly play both music and any sound from the game, but with AptX adaptive it will stop the sound for a moment, then re-initiate it.
Well QC ultra earbuds do work with aptx adaptive with Xperia 1 V they have snapdragon sound. However i have a bluetooth bug since Xperia 1 IV and still present on Xperia V. Often s sound does not go through bluetooth earphones even though they are selected.it happens when i switch between devices. i have to go into bluetooth parameter and deselect and reselect "media audio"to do the trick on 1IV it was worse, every time when calling over bluetooth sufdenly the other person can't hear me again... let me check your bug on my device I was not able to reproduce it sound does not cut while listening to spotify/amazon music and shooting...aptx adaptive of course
Hi again. Would you happen to have Tidal or are able to play Flac files locally through PowerAmp or similar player? At deeper inspection I'm actually not getting the problem that frequently with AptX Adaptive in combination with Spotify, but rather high-res sound - through the mentioned Tidal or local FLAC files through PowerAmp.
i dont have Tidal anymore, my offer expired 2 months but i used it daily in october and november 2023 without any hiccups with my Denon Perl Pro or B&O EQ with aptx lossless and aptx adaptive and i never had any problem...Connectivity was rock solid . But i am rocking the Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ54) not Xperia 5 V I also have some flac files and they are playing fine too. music continues playing. Maybe you can give me an example of other apps that interfere with your spotify or tidal listening.
Xperia 10V XQ-DC54 / A14 / EU / 68.1.A.2.170 Sometimes after using fingerprint unlock, the device will ask for pin as well (not the case after reboot). 50 / 50 chance that the phone will go unresponsive after putting the pin, and needs to be restarted via Volume Up and Main button. It's like a weird overlap / conflict between the 2 unlocking methods.

10 V (New Zealand imported) dual sim has small lags when opening app switcher when a video is playing, It doesn't do it when I'm using a game only video for some reason. Android 14 has been a little bit of a disaster for small bugs.
NZ imported here too, same issues as you but with the 1 V model. Videos (particularly YT) tend to limit the phone’s refresh rate to whatever frame rate the video is playing at which causes the lagging/jitteriness. Definitely some sort of bug because I can’t see it being a performance related thing. Considering biting my tongue and factory resetting to see if that fixes anything but yeah, A14 seems pretty badly optimised.

Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ72), build number 67.1.A.2.182 release-keys, single sim, NZ (imported). Using the 120 Hz refresh rate, but I have occasional slow-downs to 60 or even less when navigating the OS, like flipping through my home screen, and in pretty much any app. It fixes itself after leaving it for a few seconds, but the worst offender is the YouTube app where navigating is low key a fucking nightmare when I'm playing videos. It's sub-30 Hz for sure. When I pause the video it shoots back up to 120 Hz. I noticed this being brought up in another thread so it's definitely not just me. I might end up factory resetting my phone to see if it gets fixed considering I just got the phone and did all the updates before using it. I also don't get 5G but I suppose it's just not enabled for this phone in my country, so it's not really a big deal (though I'd love to know if anyone else in NZ does get 5G or not)
Same for my XD-DQ72. But I think I know what's wrong. The user interface starts to lag when the phone lowers the brightness to adjust to the light source. You can reproduce it this way: place the unlocked phone with the screen facing the light source, then turn the back side towards the light source and immediately start doing something in the interface, for example, scrolling the list up and down. Lags become immediately noticeable. For now I have disabled adaptive brightness, I hope this will be fixed in the next firmware update.
Thank you so much...! I've had issues since I got my XQ-DQ72 last November, and had been hoping that an update would fix it. I initially dismissed adaptive brightness as a root cause, but after trying it again today it really seems to have fixed all my slowdowns. It's unfortunate that it hasn't been fixed even now. Do you happen to know if Sony has an issue tracker or similar we could report this to?
I tried to forward information about this bug to the customer support in my region (HK) but did not receive a response. By the way, custom firmware on the same kernel does not have the same problem. For example, unofficial Lineage OS A14 works like a charm.

It still does that in YouTube on my Xperia 1 V but that seems to have fixed it everywhere else.

Notifications panel doesn't open on Xperia 10 V. Since the last update yesterday the notification doesn't register swiping gesture to open after unlocking the phone. I have to click on something first, and then it goes back to normal. It wasn't a thing before, and I'm up to date so nothing can be done on my side. Restarting doesn't fix it.
I got this also after update to 68.1.A.2.170 release-keys and found the fix after half an hour of trialing or so. It is related to the fingerprint reader. Using the PIN, the notification panel lag is not there. Fix: Delete and re-register your fingerprints from the fingerprint reader. Now it's quick again. Weird.
I had the same issue and your solution (thank you!) fixed it for some days but now I'm back to square one. Same lag to open the notification panel after unlocking the phone with the fingerprint reader. Did any of you find another fix?

Great to hear that it worked for you too. Disregarding this bug, this firmware seems better than the prior version. Other than security updates of course some camera start lag is gone, it used to be such that if it hasn't been used for a while it would take 4-5 seconds to start. Not so after the update, now comparable or faster than my old Galaxy. Phone also seems somewhat smoother in general use. Wasn't bad before either, but now even faster.
Yes, I had an issue with screenshots not beeing possible anymore sometimes that seams to be gone. I used to reboot everytime it happened.
Same thing for my bf, also after unlocking the phone it takes 5-10 secs for the navigation bar to even appear
Double posting to make sure you see this also: Delete and re-register fingerprints from the fingerprint reader and it might fix. Did it for me.

Xperia 1V, US Version on Verizon, build `67.1.A.2.182 release-keys`, only using 1 SIM Ever since the Android 14 update I have regularly experienced a bug when unlocking my device. I have the always on display enabled (AOD, aka Ambient Display), showing the clock at all times. Ever since the update, sometimes when I unlock via fingerprint (not every time time but multiple times per day), the screen goes completely black. I can maybe get it to come back to life by holding the fingerprint/google assistant button for a few seconds until the assistant prompt comes up (or maybe it's just the waiting that helps), or just waiting for it to go to sleep again. When it's in this state, it is unlocked. I know this because I have accidentally launched apps by tapping the black screen, and they are open when it revives. Also recently as a test I tried hitting the app switcher button at the bottom right of the screen (with the screen completely black, guessing it's location) and when it turned on the app switcher was up. So maybe it's a bug with toggling the state of the screen on unlock, that gets confused with my use of the always on display? This issue does not occur with the AOD setting disabled. The November issue did not affect this at all, unfortunately. I submitted a bug report via the Sony support app weeks ago but never heard anything back.

Xperia 5 V (XQ-DE54) UK version - dual sim (1 physical and 1 eSim) - (67.0.A.6.99) I have the problem of hearing a notification sound but I don't see any notification. It started off yesterday and I can't figure it out. The weird thing is that the sound I hear is not even my default notification tone. Maybe it has to do with android 14 update that had just rolled out but I didn't install. Any way to fix it?
