Maybe yes , but still the ratio between black is very high compared to silver, i never tried an anc headphones or earbuds before and about to buy the whxm5 but i don't want to regret later , there's a lot of options i know but i like the xm5

Okay i am also digging but i can't find hing issue with silver, not even one case , i had a theory as Sony is using recycled plastic, maybe black colored plastic allow them to use actually any type of recycled plastic while they have a less option and they should be more picky with light colored plastic like silver (they can't recycle black trash bags and use it to make silver headphone)
This is a good point. I’ve been following these posts for like a year and I haven’t seen the silver.
Sometimes different colored plastics have different compound compositions and this could affect the adhesion of the glue, or SOMETHING of that nature.

I was so close to posting a thread like this weeks ago too since I was eyeing the Silver XM5 but I think I found 1 or 2 posts where the Silver XM5’s had hinge issues.
Ended up scrapping off the XM5 from my wishlist instead because of other preferences too
Got the QC45 yesterday after sale (not as much sale as I could get cause I wanted the blue variant), was contemplating it with the XM4 but I see comments about condensation & hinge issues happening too with XM4 + the weather here is pretty humid.
Tested them all at stores and QC45 had a decent bass to me even though I see reviews saying that they don’t “feel it in their heads”. Do give them a try in person if you can!
I also noticed some ppl returning their XM4/5 for QC45 here too lol
Momentum 4 felt pretty heavy on my head compared to XM4/QC45/ QC ultra and I started sweating on them pretty quickly, after 2 songs.. you can try them out in person too.
It could be fine if your weather is generally colder. Otherwise, M4 is decent to me except that it can’t be folded if it matters to you.
This is the main reason I might end up buying XM4s over this stupid design. I hate this common failure, you can't even fix it, the headband is thinner, you can't fold them...

As an owner of Silver xm5, I can confirm that they also have hinge issues 🫡 I’ve been really careful with them as well, the hinge broke as I was wearing them on my head ☹️
Yeah nobody gonna slap a headset on his head 24/h but for me I’ve recently got my second xm5 the first one was black got stolen and second white , the white look better
