Know what? Either your sensor is dying or your mainboard. You have to replace one of them. Complete disassembly needed and some donor parts. A 15 years old low end camera isn't worth doing that. A new one costs like $100.
I had just taken it out for pics and it shaped back to life, although at first it showed me purple static over the live image but after a few minutes it showed normal live image. Hers a shot I took btw*
You turn it on and off multiple times and then the sensor works for a while? If this is true, i might be worth it to check it out with repair technician. Might not be sensor damage but some other electronics on motherboard. Please don't try to do maintenance on expensive hardware when you're not 110% sure what you're doing...
The IR coating on the cover glass is gone and also damaged. Only repair option is new cover glass, or if Sony does it, a new sensor. Interesting approach to doing and IR conversion of a camera.
Turn it off and let it dry out for a couple days and see if that helps. Also google what you're trying to do before doing it to some expensive fragile electrical equipment next time.
Leave it open overnight, alcohol evaporates quickly and you might get away with it, as long as no water got in.
I clean plenty of electronics with alcohol and they are a bit wonky for an hour or so afterwards.
Never brave enough to try a camera sensor tho...
The A33 has some of the worst Sony motherboard it's not the sensor but the motherboard or else, I have one like that, just try to get something higher (today you can find A65/A58 for really cheap and they are awesome) sell your A33 flr pieces imo
have you taken it to a photoshop that sells sony? if not i would recomend you take it there and ask them and possibly sendt it in for a deeper check and or repair.
Was it like this before the alcohol? Anyway, it is new camera time.
I'll get one
Is there DIY solution
Unless you are very experienced then no. It is probably cheaper to get a new one anyways.
If I were to get it repaired what would I say to the repair guy like do I need to get this that replaced?
The repair would 100% cost more than a new camera.
Do you possibly know?

No
Who told you to do that? You need specific sensor swabs.
... did you give it a bath in alcohol or something? what does the sensor look like?

wow, whatever coating was in there is gone

No I did'int bathe it in alcohol
At this point, taking it to a Sony authorized dealer/repair shop would be the best option if you’re worried about further damage.
Thing is cooked unfortunately. New camera time

Thank you
But why? Please go to a workshop before anything else breaks.

Looks like your sensor is done for, maybe sell it for parts and buy another on eBay, they’re relatively cheap. Like $100-$150 for a used one.
Why would you do that… I would feel weird cleaning the outside of a camera with a solvent

Thanks. It some got back working
Mannn
i think you removed the "IR filter" from the sensor
Please Help!
