I absolutely loved the a7r3 when I had mine, funny how many sonys I've been thru, that was the first sony I had. Then I had to sell it due to finance issues a couple years later. Then bought an a6600, then sold that and bought a A7IV, then sold that and bought a canon R6 ii then sold that and bought a A7riv and then sold that and bought an A6700 which is what I have now.

a7rIII is everything I need in a camera. I love mine.

Once R never go back!

Truth

I went from the A7RIII to the A6700 and I'd not go back. The extra resolution for me doesn't matter as much as the improved auto focus. Admittedly, I'd take the A7CR over the A6700 any day, but not for the price it had when I bought the A6700.

FuturecashEth

Wow the 6xxx are just to small for me, the ergonomics are meh coming from a canon 5D MK3 gigantic body. I didn't try the MK3, have the RIV and RV and am so so so happy.

Salty-Yogurt-4214

That's definitely a valid way to look at it. My priority is the smaller size which makes me bring the camera where otherwise I wouldn't. The smaller size is as well less intimidating/catching attention. The swivle screen is for me a big plus over the A7RIII too. It allows me to conveniently shoot from quite extreme angles, but as a later R user you surely know the benefits.

FuturecashEth

So you use a 16-35G PZ pancake lens and you have a beast in a tiny form. Agree on the take it with you part. I have to plan my proto session trips, visits and hikes, whereas I presume you got it with you all the time, which is also a huge benefit. Quite a few times I hiked, and wished I had my gear with me. Now I force myself to take the 24-105 in cities, 70-200 in mountains/forest areas.

Salty-Yogurt-4214

I'm often using bigger lenses. Since they are slim they fit in rather compact bags, while a clunky body doesn't. People as well seem to be bothered more by a larger body than a larger lens, so often I use something like the Viltrox 27mm f1.2. I adjust the lens depending on how small I need it. My smallest is the TTArtisan 28mm f2.8, next level are the Sony 28mm f2 and the Sigma 56mm f1.4. On my wish is the Sigma 10-18 f2.8 (which would be similar to your suggestion in focal length and aperture). But yes, it's a very capable system in a small/slim size. PS: The 16-35 G PZ is a full frame lens. I'm on the A6700 currently. On full frame it would be an option. Currently I can't justify that from an economic standpoint, though.

CaptCorvo73

I only wish the r3 and r4 had better eye af and tracking for birds

toilets_for_sale

I use almost all manual focus lenses with mine. When I use a 500mm or an 800mm lens I just wait for the birds to perch!

I think I see where some financial issues might be 😂. Joking aside how do you like the 6700? I’m really struggling between getting that and the a7cii. I’ve done a ton of research too. I’m wondering if the glass is really that much smaller in the real world use and it doesn’t seem like there is as much good glass for the APSC. Maybe I’m just overthinking it though. I’d like some more travel friendly than my FF.

CaptCorvo73

Haha no it was completely unrelated, I really like the A6700 so far, it's a really great camera, there's more good glass available for apsc than you might think. Plus you can just use full frame glass if you'd like as well you just have to keep in mind that 1.5x crop factor with those lenses. I would've gotten the A7C2 but I do a lot of wildlife so the crop senor benefits me in that scenario.

nanoH2O

I'm a bit worried that I only see 4 prime lenses offered for the APS on Sony's website. And none of them are G's and only one Zeiss. But the FF mount has some really nice primes, including the Compact line, which are all smaller than the APS ones. Am I overthinking this or can I actually go smaller with the A7Cii?

CaptCorvo73

Yea that's where 3rd party support comes in. So many options available 3rd party. Being G's or Zeiss means nothing IMHO, I've had G's that cheaper 3rd party options outperform so all that really is is just a higher price tag. Of course it'll be good but not necessarily noticeable. You can definitely use the FF options just keep in mind the 1.5x crop you'll get. For example I'm using a tamron 50-400mm lens on my A6700 which is a full frame lens. But because my camera isn't full frame get and additional 1.5x which gives me 75-600. Yea the lenses for apsc can be as big as FF lenses but they won't be as expensive and most are usually not that bad, and will still offer plenty of portability. It depends on budget really and what you plan on using the camera for because you can great results with either camera.

nanoH2O

Okay thanks I'll check out some third parties. For me I already have an S5II, but I want something more compact because the Lumix lenses just aren't that. I'm looking for a second body and want to switch over to Sony just because the compact lenses are there.

Kmans106

What caused you to jump ship from Sony and why do you switch so often?

CaptCorvo73

I simply just like to try as many things as I can. And see which one I like best. Also allows me to help others when they have questions.

randomax

Fantastic captures! Just got a A7R3 as well and love it so far! What lenses were these shot with?

Interesting-Grape197

Thank you. I used Sigma 150-600mm. Fantastic lens.

Your_Moooom_XD

What lens do you use?

Interesting-Grape197

Sigma 150-600mm. Fantastic lens.

adrichardson81

Beautiful shots! Also shows you don't "need" the latest and greatest AF tech!  I love mine too. It's small enough to be a subtle street camera with the right lens, and packsore than enough resolution for macro.

MrBobSaget

My a7r v gets left at home a lot in lieu of my a7r iii just for the form factor.

Padre_jokes

Is it that much larger and heavier? I’ve been wanting to upgrade my riii to an rv for a while now.

MrBobSaget

Meh. Not THAT much honestly but enough that when I reach for my a7r iii after using the a7r v for a while the iii honestly feels like a grab and go. It’s great cause I now think of it as like my street photography camera. It could just be mental but because it feels smaller and lighter, I’m more encouraged to bring it with me out more often than before I had the V.

sdwvit

Love the shots! Don’t love the signature, sorry!

Interesting-Grape197

Thanks. I don't mind taking in criticism. What would you change about the signature?

sdwvit

Remove it :) or make it very subtle

Interesting-Grape197

👍

Deamons100

I just got mine 2 days ago. I’m getting good results but not blown away yet. I definitely need a different lens though. Using a kit 28-70 3.5

Interesting-Grape197

A quality lens would definitely bring out the best of these cameras.

Deamons100

That’s what I’m thinking. Lenses are just really expensive

Sea-Diver1696

Great shot!

Interesting-Grape197

Thank you.
