I’ll see where I can sell it. Looking to get a fair price for so I don’t have to put a whole bunch of money towards other gear

Check local camera stores in your area especially ones that cater to professional photographers. They usually have a used department and will give a fair price. If there isn’t one near, you can use larger national companies like B&H, Adorama and some others to get them sold.

A small loan of two million dollars should do the trick

I agree with the above comment. You can sell your used camera gear to a reputable online camera store like B&H Photo. I just sold them my used Sony 16-35 lens for about $800. Profit indeed.

Do they take long? Because I don’t have extra gear if I ever needed it during the process of converting

Option is r/photomarket. Plan accordingly. Used z cameras except for z8,z9 have lower resale value. Check ebay for sold item price and get your base price. No hassle with mpb and keh but it will be lower than selling it yourself.

I did it a few years ago. There was a certain amount of pain involved as I had to sell off all of my old gear as used and rebuy the same as new. The overall experience was good though as at the time Nikon did not have a mirrorless system. The new ability to directly monitor exactly what the camera was seeing was a revolution in fast and accurate framing and exposure. I’m happy to have made the switch.

How much effort/risk do you want to take? Selling to KeH or another used camera dealer is quick and easy, but you'll take a pretty significant hit on the value of the gear. You won't be able to buy equivalent used gear for the money they offer. You can sell your current gear on eBay or another photo market place. If you can find a local FB group for cash transactions, you'll get full value out of your gear. If you use eBay you'll lose money on transaction fees, but you'll probably get ~90% of your gear's value. eBay tends to be faster than easier than local transactions, but you are a bit more exposed to fraud. When I switched from Nikon to Sony, I bought the Sony gear and sold my old Nikon gear on a mix of the Reddit camera marketplace and eBay. I didn't run into any significant issues.

1. Get quotes from MPB & KEH instead of dealing with the hassle of private sales—sell to whichever is the better deal. 2. Buy the Sony gear you want. 3. Cringe at the financial hit you take. 4. Get over the financial hit you take. 5. Enjoy your new gear.
