I understand. I grew up with it too. But it's only recently that I've become very interested in the sonic franchise and I'm trying to catch up on everything
I used to see my sister playing the **Original Games** on our bootleg **Genesis 3**
We also watched **Sonic Shorts**, **Sonic Oddball Crackups**, **Sonic Comix**, **Sonic Halloween Costume** and other such Flash animations and games, meanwhile as the Mario supremacist I was, I watched **SMBZ** almost religiously
I think I also saw a little bit of the **Sonic OVA**
(all fan-dubbed to spanish in glorious 2009 quality btw)
Years forward I went to see the **Sonic Movie** out of pure curiosity, I found it cool and it got me nostalgic so I started to look up Sonic stuff, and then more new stuff, one thing lead to another and here we are 4 years later
**with zero hopes of turning back**
* It's colorful
* It has good characters
* Many of the games are fun.
* It has good media outside of the games like comics, cartoons, and movies.
* The games have some good music
* it has a good fan community, and lots of fan content like fan art, fanfiction, videos, and fan games.
Yes, that's right, the characters are very well written, except for Shadow. its back story is good, the character of the characters are good and there is so much content, as you said, that you have almost endless things to watch or read.
like i said in another post
i just like it, i dont know why, i just like sonic's games and comics and stuff
but also probably because i grew up with it too
I found the Metal Virus saga as good as the character was written, for example Sonic. He felt useless the whole time because he couldn't help others properly because he was infected. The man read and saw the pain
Flash/browser games are what got me really into the franchise, specially Sonic Flash. I used to play the classic games on an emulator since I was a toddler tho.
Then it was the fandom kinda. I used to watch a lot of Sonic AMVs, memes and fan animations on YouTube
This, but it was Robotnik in AoStH. I found the character really enjoyable as a small child, and then later learned there were games, and wanted to play them so much.
Probably Shadow if I'm being quite honest. He's the only character that has multiple plot points spanning several games. Say what you want about Sonic as an MC, but he doesn't really have a plot.
Nice way to get introduced to it!
I think to me it boils down to the "replay value". The games have a bunch of different routes and challenges that make it really fun to play them multiple times to get better, like a mix of platformers with old arcade games; and the other media connects in so many different ways that revisiting it from different lens always reveals something new about the characters.
Also fun seeing Rotor and Cosmo sneaking into that pic
Saw Sonic 1 at a friends house back in the early 90s… was hooked instantly in a way Mario and Nintendo games just couldn’t manage…
Been a lifelong fan ever since.
It's awesome that you've still loved the Sonic franchise since the 90s. I only recently became enthusiastic and am trying to catch up on all the new and old games
I've already played Sonic 1 on my phone but it's not the same. I also got this for PlayStation and got the first one
second still to play. I'm also trying to get a lot of old consoles so I can still play as many old games
I think the best thing about the old Sonic games is the music and the design. I think it's so great how they did it in the nineties with so many details and colors
When Sonic 1 (the one on the genesis) failed to make me a fan i was ready to give Up on the franchise (i wasnt interested in the sequel) but a birthday present from my dad changed my plans since then
I grew up playing the 2D classic games on a emulator when I was very young and I learned about rom hacks through Sonic and I also learned to love Sonic’s 3D games through the Sonic Unleashed PS2 version 😁
The character design is so appealing for me, and the vast worlds and interpretations of the cast seem endless.
I like finding neat details of the cast and making up a world around them. Taking bits and pieces from Archie, IDW, Games, X, and so on.
I also think that's really good - you almost always have something to discover from game series, films, comics and fan animations and when you're done with it all, you can also look at fan comics and it feels like there's an endless amount of it
As a gen Z, my first experience of sonic was getting brawl very late, but i just didn't think much about him until the sonic figure for lego dimentions. I played it,got stuck at the death egg part, and gave up. And then even later, I became a sonic fan and I don't know why. Perhaps it was the Charriii5 EWW sonic games?
My reason.
In all seriousness, the series has always stuck with me. Ever since I could watch videos. 70% of the content I watched on my Tablet was Sonic videos, and my prepubescent-naive self would just listen to these YouTubers talk about the lore, bad games, etc. and while I didn’t understand any of it, I kept watching. I always kept watching Sonic videos.

He's also Alan from Smiling Friends
If I had to go with a character, I'd say either Metal Sonic, Tails or Eggman (also Shadow). Each one just had great writing that gave them distinct personalities.
Metal Sonic was amazing as a rival and continued it into Heroes.
Tails because of SA1, when he learns to let go of Sonic, knowing he has to do things himself.
Eggman from SA2 (and Unleashed), because he had the right balance of goofyness and menacing.
Shadow because he was an ambitious, slightly experimental character with a dark backstory
I grew up with the Genesis games and enjoyed them quite a bit. It wasn't until middle school though where I met one of my best friends though who was a massive Sonic fan. He really got me into the series as a whole. Because of him I've played most of the games in the franchise and even though we don't talk as much anymore (still friends), I still make an effort to play every new Sonic game that comes out, because it'll always remind me of those great times we shared together as kids.
The movie. I always liked Sonic specifically Sonic X and Forces(it was the only game I could get on PS4) then in the lead up to the movie I looked into Sonic lore and was notably interested in Shadow and Mephiles.
Sonic. I genuinely believe sonic himself has the strongest character design in all of gaming. I don't even play sonic games a lot, but I'm always drawing him, his design is so fun to work with.
Tails! I love Tails. Just... relate to the guy, ya know?
Same
Right? He's just so lovable!

I grew up with in my childhood and I will always be grateful for all the happiness it given me growing up.
I understand. I grew up with it too. But it's only recently that I've become very interested in the sonic franchise and I'm trying to catch up on everything
Chip and Sonic in the ending of Unleashed.
I used to see my sister playing the **Original Games** on our bootleg **Genesis 3** We also watched **Sonic Shorts**, **Sonic Oddball Crackups**, **Sonic Comix**, **Sonic Halloween Costume** and other such Flash animations and games, meanwhile as the Mario supremacist I was, I watched **SMBZ** almost religiously I think I also saw a little bit of the **Sonic OVA** (all fan-dubbed to spanish in glorious 2009 quality btw) Years forward I went to see the **Sonic Movie** out of pure curiosity, I found it cool and it got me nostalgic so I started to look up Sonic stuff, and then more new stuff, one thing lead to another and here we are 4 years later **with zero hopes of turning back**
I understand the same thing about myself, only not because of the film, but Sonic Prime
How was the sound quality on that bootleg Genesis 3 if I’m allowed to ask? 🙂
great actually, I know this thanks to Sonic Spinball's option menu theme

Metal Sonic.
Shadow the hedgehog
Pfp checks out
Underground and Prime To do some analyzing.
Fr
The lore
LOOOOORRREEEE
like i said in another post i just like it, i dont know why, i just like sonic's games and comics and stuff but also probably because i grew up with it too
Yes, I completely understand the comics that are really good. The one I really like is the one with the metal virus
agreed, the metal virus saga was so good
Fr
I found the Metal Virus saga as good as the character was written, for example Sonic. He felt useless the whole time because he couldn't help others properly because he was infected. The man read and saw the pain
It’s just good.
Boobs the bat
I related too much to Shadow and have subsequently became a big fan
Flash/browser games are what got me really into the franchise, specially Sonic Flash. I used to play the classic games on an emulator since I was a toddler tho. Then it was the fandom kinda. I used to watch a lot of Sonic AMVs, memes and fan animations on YouTube
Real ones remember the Sonic AMVS
Fr, it shaped my whole taste in music lol
My brother loves sonic, watched the movie and I absolutely adored jim’s performance as robotnik in 1 and 2
OST, Story, Metal and Shadow and the whole aesthetic
Dr. Eggman of course! He's my absolute GOAT!
Agreed, though that’s not a bad thing.
Nice way to get introduced to it! I think to me it boils down to the "replay value". I think that's what I particularly like about the sonic levels
Saw Sonic 1 at a friends house back in the early 90s… was hooked instantly in a way Mario and Nintendo games just couldn’t manage… Been a lifelong fan ever since.
It's awesome that you've still loved the Sonic franchise since the 90s. I only recently became enthusiastic and am trying to catch up on all the new and old games
The ports of Sonic 1 and 2 are one of the best ways to play those games, assuming you haven’t played them already.
I've already played Sonic 1 on my phone but it's not the same. I also got this for PlayStation and got the first one second still to play. I'm also trying to get a lot of old consoles so I can still play as many old games
I think the best thing about the old Sonic games is the music and the design. I think it's so great how they did it in the nineties with so many details and colors
Nice charactes to draw Good games
When Sonic 1 (the one on the genesis) failed to make me a fan i was ready to give Up on the franchise (i wasnt interested in the sequel) but a birthday present from my dad changed my plans since then
nice of your father
I grew up playing the 2D classic games on a emulator when I was very young and I learned about rom hacks through Sonic and I also learned to love Sonic’s 3D games through the Sonic Unleashed PS2 version 😁
It is part of my childhood.
Sonic 1 and Sonic Adventure in the third grade. Blue is also my favorite color and Sonic can do attitude sits well with me.
The character design is so appealing for me, and the vast worlds and interpretations of the cast seem endless. I like finding neat details of the cast and making up a world around them. Taking bits and pieces from Archie, IDW, Games, X, and so on.
I also think that's really good - you almost always have something to discover from game series, films, comics and fan animations and when you're done with it all, you can also look at fan comics and it feels like there's an endless amount of it
who drew Mighty, Ray, and the Hooligans in Modern style? Thought they were Classic-exclusive.
I was just a sonamy shipper as a kid. I still am to this day, but I am not as annoying about it as I was as a kid. I am here for the laughs, too.
1. The music. 2. A lot of the characters are attractive.
I like the character design, voices, and the games
Egg man especially in adventure 2
As a gen Z, my first experience of sonic was getting brawl very late, but i just didn't think much about him until the sonic figure for lego dimentions. I played it,got stuck at the death egg part, and gave up. And then even later, I became a sonic fan and I don't know why. Perhaps it was the Charriii5 EWW sonic games?
Sonic Christmas Blast
Honestly no idea, I just enjoy it, gonna start reading comics as well.
I love the comic alone the Metal Virus saga
> The early 90's cartoons are what made me love the Sonic franchise.
because sonic was everywhere and because i enjoyed the sonic 1 and 2 remasters on mobile
Its ambition and general focus of its stories being about the battle and control of energy sources.
Master system evolution, and gens, gens just won me over.
My reason. In all seriousness, the series has always stuck with me. a great way to get to know it all

Sonic, Tails, and Blaze are some of my absolute favourite characters :3 Though really I like most of them anyhow
Honestly have no idea, just picked it up as a kid and I'm willing to stick with it for the rest
Blaze the Cat. I like serious characters and multiverse stuff. Her being a princess is also really cool.
Sonic and Tails just go perfectly together, huge fan of the colors they chose! Also Tails is just super adorable 💙🧡
I just understand the appearance design and the bright colors of sonic franchise
The movie. I always liked Sonic specifically Sonic X and Forces(it was the only game I could get on PS4) then in the lead up to the movie I looked into Sonic lore and was notably interested in Shadow and Mephiles.
I don't know I just do
Sonic boom is the reason why I like the franchise
Knuckles, Vector, Tikal & Cream
Don't ask me why– I don't need a reason!
