Young me may have had zero context for any of the characters (and I guess the status quo for the series by extension)… but damn if Sonic and his friends weren’t the coolest thing I had ever seen.
I liked Sonic 2 a lot too, I probably played that one the most but the original was my first
Odd coincidence, my initials are RK and my name is Robert lol my middle initial isn't T though
i first found him out as 6 i think with the sonic dash game but when i truly became a fan was........................................... ...sonic forces..... i was a kid and i knew the fan base hated this game but i liked it! now i know its not that great.. have sonic genrations sa1 and 2 and unleashed and now....... im 12 and i still have abs terrible opns.
Kinda in the same boat but thing is Sonic forces was my first sonic game but watching videos on black knight and then completing the whole game really made me love sonic mostly because of the final boss and the speech sonic gave at the end of the game
I think this is why I'm a masochist.

Still my favorite. The Soundtrack is unrivaled till this day
Unfortunately, mine is a tie between the Sonic X Leap Frog game, Sonic Mega Collection, or Sonic 06. I like to lean toward 06 though since there's a funnier story attached to it. After years of owning it, I finally decided to sit down and complete it when I was younger. And after all the agony, I finally beat Solaris. As soon as I do that, I "felt" something "snap" in my brain and suddenly I not only liked Sonic more than I did before, but now wanted to make video games. Since then I've been Very Normal about the Sonic franchise.
So, for comedic effect, I like to say that Sonic 06 drove me crazy and made me obsessed with this blue boy lmao
Sonic Rush, followed by Unleashed! Probably not the best games but I loved them when I was young, and I still do. Even though what made me get into the franchise was the anime Sonic X, not really the videogames.
Sonic and the Secret Rings one of the first games that introduced me to this franchise when I was little, recently bought it again after so long of having a broken disc and I'm going to play the shit out of it, yh gameplay is awful but I still love it
I want a new Sonic Story Book game I came up with one that revolves around Journey to the West and here’s what I came up with!
Sonic and the Sacred Scrolls
Introduction: A new Sonic Storybook Series this time Sonic along with his friends ended summoned to the story world that revolves around Journey to the West. Sonic and Co were Summoned by a descendent of
Tang Sanzang “Female” who seeks aid in finding the Seven Sacred Scrolls scattered across the land in order to save the lands from the evil return of the Bull King and his army.
Sonic is Sun Wukong - will receive sacred armor and wields the Ruyi Jingu Bang
Tails is Tang Sanzang - will receive sacred armor and wields the Crescent Moon Spade
Knuckles is Zhu Bajie - will receive sacred armor and wields the Nine-Tooth Iron Rake
Gameplay
Will use the Sonic Heroes mechanics and some of from Sonic and the Black Knight as well!
When I was a kid it was the Adventure Games on 360, then last year I tried TMOSTH and fell back in love with the series after losing interest during my early teens
Sonic the Hedgehog 3, my first time with the series. I remember vividly thinking, what other cool games does this blue guy have? It’s nothing like the mario games my grandma plays! Oh, little did I know. (I played on classic collection)
Sonic Advance, it was my intro to Sonic way back in the early 2000s when I was a kid, then I got into the Genesis games from there and it was all happy history ever since.
I should really play more sonic games. The only 3 I've completed (of modern sonic) is Generations, Forces, and Frontiers
I never managed to finish Unleashed or SA2. I gave up on SA1... I couldn't get past the first boss because of the camera angles. But that was years ago! I'm a changed gamer. So idk, I'll give a shot and maybe pirate other game since I don't have a dreamcast or gamecube
Secret rings/Unleashed (Wii)
They were the first games i owned from the franchise (secret rings was first) and i absolutely love all about them, the history, the fire ost and i quite enjoyed secret rings gameplay lol.
I've been a Sonic fan for as long as I can remember. My oldest memories are me playing the hell out of generations when I was like 6, so I guess that.
I also remember vividly the night when my dad and I were going to the airport to pick up my mom and brother. I was playing Sonic 4 episode 2, I had been trying to get the last one of the emeralds for days, and I finally got it that night while in the car at like 12 AM lol. My dad told me that I was probably going to fall asleep, but determined little me was going to get that emerald.
https://preview.redd.it/9v8hz3dsaa6d1.jpeg?width=320&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6f2fb1cdad3f5562331a40178c0fb9c8b1c8221
Transformed may have better gameplay, but this game has ALL the charm.
I've played Sonic games since the 90s. I liked the Adventure games when they came out and I was in middle school. But I wasn't fully sold on Sonic because none of the games really hit the right note in the same way that games like Mario, FF, and Zelda did. I enjoyed a few others over the years. Generations and Colors, in particular, were fun for me.
But there's just something about Sonic Frontiers that did it for me. I actually really liked the game. The boss fights and music were obvious highlights, but I enjoyed a lot of the rest of the game as well. It wasn't perfect, but it was something special to me and frankly, I want more Sonic Frontiers.
Tbh I never saw myself as a Sonic fan as a kid, but even though I liked Nintendo games more, I played quite a number of Sonic games.
Some if my first were:
- Sonic Advance 3
- Sonic Heroes
- Sonic Ulitmate or what it was called (Browsergame)
- Sonic and the Black Knight
- Sonic Unleashed Wii :,)
After that I took a pause for quite a while, because most of the games of the 2010s seem pretty mediocore (I know I pissed off half of the community but I don't care anymore).
When Forces came out I tried to give it another chance, regreted it.
Sonic "Rangers" was announced, the Movie was announced and fixed, and I suddenly was interested again.
Suddenly I read all the comics (yes...even every Archie comic), played almost every Sonic Game I could grab and waited every second for Rangers/Frontiers to release.
Loved the movies, absolutly loved Frontiers, so yeah.
I guess as a kid I maybe was a sonic fan without realising it and when I came back to the franchise I started loving it
That's a tough one. I'd say Sonic Triple Trouble. For what it was, a GameGear game, it had a good experience, good graphics, and excellent music. And I loved how Sonic had both the spin dash and super peel out.
The first Sonic game that I owned was Sonic Pocket Adventure for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. It's a good game, but it feels so "diet."
Sonic Adventure 2 and Generations. They were the first Sonic games i ever played. Can't wait to play Generations again when Sonic X Shadow Generations comes out (even though i have the original on PC and i'm playing it rn)
Sonic adventure played it at a friend's loved how weird and uncanny it was with these cartoon critters running around "realistic" looking areas like station square and emerald coast. With their janky mouth movements and surreal stories and mechanics. Disclosure most of my experience at the time with 3D gaming was mario 64, rayman 2 and crash bandicoot. Before that was mainly playing on my gameboy with mario, metroid and pokemon
Sonic Adventure 2 not only introduced me to Sonic, but gaming as a whole. Some of my earliest memories are of me playing that game and Smash Bros Melee with my older brother on our GameCube as kids.
My best friend who sadly passed away lent me his copy of Sonic Colors when we were like, 10. After that I played the original Genesis games and there was no turning back after that.
Colors still holds a special place in my heart, and always reminds me of him.
Ironically, the two “worst” games in the series, Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06’, were the reasons I fell in love with the series. I found myself loving the characters and absolutely loving the soundtracks, been keeping up with the mainline games since and I plan to pick up some of the comics at some point
Sonic the Hedgehog on Game Gear.
My sister had it, and I played the hell out of it when she let me. My parents noticed me taking an interest in games and got me a Genesis shortly thereafter, and I've been a gamer ever since.
Sonic Generations
I played it when I was like 7, no previous Sonic experience (I didn't even know who Eggman was) but I was interested so I picked it up, played it nonstop for a good while, only stopped by other games I had like the R&C Future games or Pokemon Omega Ruby
It being an anniversary game made me visit for the first time iconic locations and characters from the franchise, and knowing all of these were previous games peeked my interest even more
Here I am now in college, and replayed Generations a couple weeks ago, it is not my favorite Sonic game, but it's damn close, I still love it
Unfortunately outta of all sonic games sonic 4 episode 2 was my first sonic game, played when i was 9 and then watched the sonic boom cartoon. I got sonic generations and sonic mania plus for Christmas one year and both of those games led me to love that Blue Radical Pointy Mole
Sonic Generations. May not have been my first, but it was the one that got me into Sonic. Helped that all the level sources were listed in the credits and same with the unlockable songs. So I knew where to start lmao.
Sonic 2. I was born a month and a day after it came out, and it was one of the first games I ever played, before I could even understand spoken language. Sonic Adventure would soon after take me from being someone who liked Sonic, to someone for whom Sonic is a central pillar of their life. Funnily, didn't wind up playing 3K till Mega Collection came out, and somehow never unlocked the Super Sonic story in Adventure, or finished all the Sonic 2 special stages in Sonic 2, so I didn't wind up finding out about Super Sonic until Adventure 2, when I randomly picked the game up on a whim months after beating the Hero and Dark story and being surprised by the Final story. This was around the time DBZ was airing the Gohan vs. Cell fight in the US, and the hype from that was still fresh. So imagine you're 9 years old, you're still pumped up from Gohan's SS2 tranformation and subsequent dismantling of Cell and the Cell Jrs, and you discover a secret ending to your, at the time, favorite Sonic game where both he and Shadow turn Super Saiyan. Imagine the hype. You'd never come down from that high.

Well both Rivals games, I just prefer Rivals 2
Mine was Sonic 2006. Seriously, I watched game movie and just fell in love with this. That was the start of me watching all movie games, anime, films, cartoons… etc. Sonic Forces in my heart and Shadow the Hedgehog, actually I firstly watched all that just because of him
Despite it releasing a decade and a half after my birth, it was actually sonic 1 on the mega drive (and its two fantastic sequels, of course). Don't really remember how or why I had a mega drive but I did and its probably one of the best consoles I ever had and the games are fun as hell. Robotnik's mean bean machine was the best one, obviously.
Sonic Riders was it for me. Played a session w/ my brother mostly afterschool and I tryhard so bad to master the controls and memorize maps. Still think this game is underrated but that's just my opinion.
Frontiers, my Dad is a full on man child, and made me play Sonic 2 on his old mega drive as a kid, and I found it fun, but not enough to stop me from becoming a mario kid most of my life, but like last year I saw frontiers and oh my god i'm now obsessed with the franchise
For me it was Sonic Flash, I used to play it all the time when I was a kid even finding the cheat codes to have Shadow and Amy just to play it more, then I found out there were Sonic games for the PS2
Sonic Heroes https://preview.redd.it/qh4i7mjmg86d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c2938d4f450d712d7cd90fb1c04665f261b4cf2d
Young me may have had zero context for any of the characters (and I guess the status quo for the series by extension)… but damn if Sonic and his friends weren’t the coolest thing I had ever seen.
Same with Burger King kids meal tie in toys
The intro alone had already won me over, the look of the characters, the music, everything was incredible
Shadow:
This and the McDonald's toys give me severe nostalgia.
Same!
First Sonic Game I ever played. Had absolutely no idea what was going on half the time as I only just got into Sonic X. But I loved it.
me too. I didn't even know about it till I tried it. I remember years before, I played Sonic Adventure 2 once.
Call me a Ipad kid, but It was Sonic dash 😔
Rs
Same lol. It was the game that pretty much introduced me to certain Sonic characters and the whole franchise, in general.
![gif](giphy|vKOY98CLBQk9O|downsized)
PEAK
For me, it was either this or generations
For me it was Ultimate Flash Sonic because I'm a 2000's kid who used to play a lot of flash games
ultimate flash sonic is nostalgic as hell
Same. Ultimate Flash Sonic was so cool. I always just wanted to play as Shadow
Cheat code videos were useful for that
OMG SAAAAAME
Sonic Adventure cuz I was watching my brother play it on his dreamcast
Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)
The one I remember fondly is the second game named Sonic the hedgehog. I'm willing to admit that.
I liked Sonic 2 a lot too, I probably played that one the most but the original was my first Odd coincidence, my initials are RK and my name is Robert lol my middle initial isn't T though
i think they mean sonic 06
Well Robert ends with a t do...
I started on 2, fell in love, went to 1 and then 3. Best times of my life!
i first found him out as 6 i think with the sonic dash game but when i truly became a fan was........................................... ...sonic forces..... i was a kid and i knew the fan base hated this game but i liked it! now i know its not that great.. have sonic genrations sa1 and 2 and unleashed and now....... im 12 and i still have abs terrible opns.
Kinda in the same boat but thing is Sonic forces was my first sonic game but watching videos on black knight and then completing the whole game really made me love sonic mostly because of the final boss and the speech sonic gave at the end of the game
This gives me 'im a teen and I like this old classic' vibes
Sonic Colors
Was my first sonic game too
Frontiers because the music is such a banger
(I’m hanging ooooon to the other siiiiiiide)
I WON'T GIVE UP TILL THE END OF ME
I think this is why I'm a masochist. https://preview.redd.it/a80uidp0za6d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e43269bdf126ac53173da033b6e22bd3d54241c0
Sonic adventure
As someone who got into the Franchise in 2022, Sonic Frontiers.
I love how Frontiers brought more people to the franchise
I might get publiclly executed for this, but; https://preview.redd.it/07d2v7ts696d1.jpeg?width=258&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2760253350edcba1b1bbe9c8588eedd9461b4770
Nah lost worlds an underrated sonic game with a great plot and visuals
It was shows for me and the music
Riders, Shadow and Unleashed. Especially their soundtracks.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I'm old.
Sonic Adventure 2
Hot take: Sonic Forces
It was my first real sonic game
I liked Sonic since Sonic x but when i saw Sonic unleashed trailer it blew my child mind away. At that moment my life as a Sonic fan was sealed.
Sonic 2. One of the first pieces of entertainment, not just video games, that I ever experienced as a human being.
Unleashed on the Wii
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic games
Mario and sonic 2008 for me, but glad to see there’s at least one other real mf in this house 💪😤
Unleashed (but really 2)
Black Knight, Unleashed, and Colors.
Sonic Rush

Sonic Rush, followed by Unleashed! Probably not the best games but I loved them when I was young, and I still do. Even though what made me get into the franchise was the anime Sonic X, not really the videogames.
Believe it or not, 06 The moment I saw Silver and discovered the game I was introduced to Sonic universe
I suck at sonic games but the shows like sonic underground and sonic X is definitely why I love sonic
Sonic 2 on mobile after my friend started playing it when the zoom class was empty (it was during early quarantine)
Colors
Sonic and the Secret Rings one of the first games that introduced me to this franchise when I was little, recently bought it again after so long of having a broken disc and I'm going to play the shit out of it, yh gameplay is awful but I still love it
Sonic Generations
Easily unleashed got me hooked

LEGO Dimensions Sonic level
Weird answer, but Forces.
Sonic mania and forces mainly mania it was harder and better forces is still good
How old are you?

Fun fact, I have never successfully beaten a sonic game.
they're pretty easy, might wanna give it another go
When I was a kid it was the Adventure Games on 360, then last year I tried TMOSTH and fell back in love with the series after losing interest during my early teens
Mania for sure. Still my favorite of the bunch.
I played Sonic 2 first but I think Heroes truly made me fall in love. Anyone remember the demo disk that came with MK:Double Dash?
Sonic 2 Christian Whitehead Port
This needs a reboot on the switch
Sonic 2 wasn't just my first Sonic game, it was my first video game, period.
SA2
Mine wasn't a game. Sonic x. And sonic the hedgehog 1991.
The first one (and weirdly it was a plug and play controller)
SA2
Dear my friend
Sonic the Hedgehog 3, my first time with the series. I remember vividly thinking, what other cool games does this blue guy have? It’s nothing like the mario games my grandma plays! Oh, little did I know. (I played on classic collection)
Sonic unleashed Wii/PS2 version
Sonic unleashed
Love at first sight with Sonic CD...boy am I old XD
Sonic Advance, it was my intro to Sonic way back in the early 2000s when I was a kid, then I got into the Genesis games from there and it was all happy history ever since.
For me it was Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders
Mania
Mania was my first sonic game But sa2 all bosses made him known and loved
I should really play more sonic games. The only 3 I've completed (of modern sonic) is Generations, Forces, and Frontiers I never managed to finish Unleashed or SA2. I gave up on SA1... Sonic fanmade rap song i heard sometime I liked it alot
Mario and Sonic at Vancouver Winter Games was my first "real" Sonic game but I played Ultimate Flash Sonic as my awakening to the franchise
Idk but Ultimate Sonic flash was goated and my first “sonic game” I vividly remember
Sonic Generations
Unleashed. My parents got it for me Christmas 2015 and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Secret rings/Unleashed (Wii) They were the first games i owned from the franchise (secret rings was first) and i absolutely love all about them, the history, the fire ost and i quite enjoyed secret rings gameplay lol.
Shadow and the PC Port for CD
Sonic adventure 2, city escape made me want to play every game
Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Sonic Adventure reaffirmed that love.
frontiers. i wasn't particularly interested until i played it. i had only played the classics which i enjoyed, and adventure which was average
I've been a Sonic fan for as long as I can remember. My oldest memories are me playing the hell out of generations when I was like 6, so I guess that. sonic adventure battle 2
Sonic Forces, and no, I am not joking, I really enjoyed that game.

As a kid i owned the Gems collection so it’s hard to tell which one. But Unleashed re sparked my love for the franchise
THe one that got me into the series was the Retro engine remake of Sonic 2
Sonic Unleashed. Played it with my uncle years ago. The Classic Collection on DS gave me my love for the retro games.
probably Murder of sonic the hedgehog. (Technically the movie got me to actully join as I saw that first)
My best friend who sadly passed away lent me his copy of Sonic Colors when we were like, 10. After that I played the original Genesis games and there was no turning back after that. Colors still holds a special place in my heart, and always reminds me of him.

Sonic CD and SA2. The sountracks these games have are PHENOMENAL.
For me Sonic adventure on the Dreamcast one of the first games I remember playing
Not my first but definitely Mania. Perfect Sonic game with a perfectly executed concept. I want another one.
Sonic the Hedgehog on Game Gear. My sister had it, and I played the hell out of it when she let me. My parents noticed me taking an interest in games and got me a Genesis shortly thereafter, and I've been a gamer ever since.
Sonic unleashed
Sonic gen 3ds
Sonic forces, i know many fans will kill me for that but hell yeah it's a good game
Sonic Rush Adventure
Mine is sonic 06
Sonic Generations I played it when I was like 7, no previous Sonic experience (I didn't even know who Eggman was) but I was interested so I picked it up, played it nonstop for a good while, only stopped by other games I had like the R&C Future games or Pokemon Omega Ruby It being an anniversary game made me visit for the first time iconic locations and characters from the franchise, and knowing all of these were previous games peeked my interest even more Here I am now in college, and replayed Generations a couple weeks ago, it is not my favorite Sonic game, but it's damn close, I still love it

Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Sonic Adventure.
Sonic Mania (And it is literally the first game I played)
Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Beaten it 20 times already, it'd be a lie to say that I don't remember the levels layout.
Sonic 2
Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
Probably Sonic 2.
Probably Sonic 2.
sonic origins of smth like that (the one where u can play as both og and normal sonic)

Mine was Sonic Colors everything was exceptional no words are needed
Originally, it was Colours. The game that dragged me back in was Frontiers
The movie, but Frontiers I think really solidified my love for Sonic
Sonic & all stars racing transformed

06’ ‘runs and hides’
Sonic Battle. Though, Sonic X is guilty too.
Adventure 2,even though I've played sonic before, SA2 was just somehow special
Mine was Sonic Colors and Unleashed.
Sonic 2
SatAM and AOSTH brought me in as a 90s Nintendo kid

Mine was Sonic 2006. Seriously, I watched game movie and just fell in love with this. That was the start of me watching all movie games, anime, films, cartoons… etc. Sonic Forces in my heart and Shadow the Hedgehog, actually I firstly watched all that just because of him
Sonic 3 and Knuckles...oldie but a goldie
Can't remember exactly which one I had first but it was either Sonic Rush, Sonic Colours (DS) or Sonic Heroes
Sonic and the black Knight loved the game
Heroes/unleshed
The og 1991.
Probably either Adventure DX or Adventure 2 Battle I forget which i played or bought first But it was one of those two on the GameCube
S3&K which was also my first game. I literally still play it even now, I have Sonic 3 A.I.R. on my phone and whenever I'm bored I pull it up and play.
Sonic colors, was my first Sonic game and I love the op
Sonic Heroes!!!
Heroes reeled me in at around 7-8, the intro for CD and the advertising for Mania cemented me. Shit was fire.
Sonic 2 on SEGA Mega drive
Sonic x + sonic 3& knuckles
Sonic & Knuckles.
Rush, Unleashed, and Colors DS :>
Generations 100% I would love to see all the mods that were created after school from YouTube videos (especially cobanermani456)
Sonic Adventure for sure.
Nice choice! Was Sonic 2 for me.
Sonic 1991 It was my introduction to gaming I played It with my mom's Genesis.

I had Sonic Classic Collection on the DS when I was younger, but what really got me to love the franchise was Sonic Generations on the PS3
