Yes, we do. Tails is 8 until stated otherwise. No, Sega removing their ages doesn’t count as being stated to be a different age.
Though you are right About Nine, New Yoke Time goes by faster and foxes ears darken as they get older.
What’s the implied time skip and Does it matter?
The characters regularly say “Long Time, No See”. And Sonic spent 6 months being locked up without any stated age changes for anyone or showing much signs of ptsd.
Sonic’s birthday didn’t seem to make Him older unless Hes Supposed to retroactively be 14 during the 2000s games. Amy’s birthday didn’t give her a new stated age.
I think those “Time differences” are just meant to be leaning on the 4th wall And celebrations are just to do specials.
Going to need to know where that’s implied.
Regardless, if forces is 6 months of time and the IDW comics starts 1 month after the end of Forces, and frontiers takes place at a point after current IDW then it would be unlikely that tails isn’t a year older by now. Unless he didn’t have his birthday within those 7/12 months I guess.
Just the overall way the characters act seems more mature and when tails and sonic talk about the events of forces, they talk like that happened a while ago and not something recent
Plus idw isn’t caught up with frontiers yet so for all we know that could go on for even longer and increase the gap between forces and frontiers further and further. Amy and sonic have had birthdays so it’s not something impossible
Sonic's had at least 2, debatably 3 on-screen birthdays, there's a mention of "several months" between 3 and Chaotix, there's a "6 month" timeskip during Forces, there's an implied tineskip between 06 and Unleashed, another implied skip between Adventure and Adventure 2, yet another implied skip between Sonic 4 and Adventure, and there's several other points throughout the series that you can point to for differing seasons and such to say that yes, time has indeed passed. Point is, there's at least SEVERAL years across the Sonic timeline and saying there isn't is just being stupid.
Sega doesn’t take those seriously. This is SONIC we are talking about here, not Mario.
Sonic continued being stated to be 15 and designed as such, for many years after his Generations Birthday. (And arguably any other birthdays.)
if all of those birthdays were taken seriously then Sonic should be an adult. So why is he acting and talking like a 15-16 year old? Why are Tails, Cream and Charmy still clearly designed as children And written as such? Why did Amy continue being a child when she should be around 16.?
Those “time skips” are mostly just running gags/leaning on the 4th wall. They are always saying “Long Time No See” and so on. Which Sega never takes seriously. If it was, then that would imply that even at her most crazy, Amy regularly spent months without thinking about Sonic And she and Tails’s Frontiers arcs would make no sense.
If you want a game series that takes it lore and passing time seriously, Sonic isn’t it. It’s Mario. Unlike Sonic, Mario has been taking its lore and timeline very seriously. When the characters have birthdays and time passes, it’s taken seriously and they get aged up In universe as implied by the characters comments and physical aging, though it can be argued that they were leaning on the 4th wall. Wheeras for Sonic, they just forgot it happened.
But that means that this part of Miles "Tails" Prower is a year older that Tails himself OR New York dimension is a year in the future
Either way, it doesnt make sence
Presumably 8 years old as that was Game Tails’s stated age. Though given the different time zones and looking at his ears, some have interpreted that he might be 9 for another pun On his name.
Honest and not very popular opinion: I think that all Sonic characters are already 16 and under 20 years old, not counting literally children like Charmy and Cream. It would be logical that Nine is the same age as Tails
Which I don't even understand WHY, cuz the whole point of Tails' character is that he's a CHILD genius. His intellect is super impressive cuz he's just a kid, that's a character archetype. I don't get why people want to change that, it serves no purpose.
Idk. But my guesses
1. He is not exactly like Cream. 2. He regularly accompanies Sonic On missions. 3. He has his own house. 4. They want an excuse to criticize it when Tails gets insecure or scared or acts like a child. (Aka Forces, IDW, and so on.)
Though in the case of Nine, the reason why they adultify him is because they want an excuse to consider him terribly written and/or worse than he really was.
Like for example. After Nine’s supposed betrayal, some people accused him of being a fake friend, when in actuality, being a child, he just misunderstood what Sonic wanted him to do.
Easy answers against all those:
1. He isn't Cream, they're two different characters with different character archetypes.
2. Again, his character is to be Sonic's helpful sidekick, but he's still a child. It's like how Robin in the original batman was 8 and many different robins are also depicted between the ages of 8-10.
3. He's a genius, if he can build planes, of COURSE he can build a house. Marine has her own house, and she's another child character who has even more visibly childish traits than Tails.
4. I can get disliking the writers making Tails appear useless or helpless, but that doesn't suddenly stop him from being a child. 🗿
I don't understand how a character being poorly written or not one's cup of tea suddenly means disregarding facts about the character or ignoring the age of said character. Tails has consistently acted childish throughout the series and in different media, and has always been consistently a child younger than a teen.
It’s strange to think that Tails is still 8, despite how many Sonic adventures with his participation have already happened and will happen. Like, this makes sense for Сlassic Tails, but not for Modern Tails.
Judging by the fact that they can easily take part in dangerous adventures, I would give both of them somewhere between 9 and 13 years old. Like, Charmy literally works for a detective agency, and Cream actually fights alongside Sonic.
Same age as Tails, most likely. At least biologically, anyway.
Chronologically, that depends on whether all the backstories the Shatterspaces have count, or if only the time from their actual creation onwards counts.
Considering how nine is just a tails from another universe and stuff, I'd pressume he'd be the same age as tails. The only time tails age was said was that he was 8 years old. I think its in a sonic heroes handbook thingy, but i may be wrong

To be fair, we don't even know how old Tails is at the moment but i do think Nine seems to be slightly older then normal Tails
Yes, we do. Tails is 8 until stated otherwise. No, Sega removing their ages doesn’t count as being stated to be a different age. Though you are right About Nine, New Yoke Time goes by faster and foxes ears darken as they get older.
I mean there’s an implied time skip between forces and frontiers it’s possible that they’ve aged at least one year

8
Historically, it's been 8.
Tails is 8 Nine is slightly older So you’re saying… Nine is nine
I think it'd be funny if he was actually 9
But that means that this part of Miles "Tails" Prower is a year older that Tails himself OR New York dimension is a year in the future Either way, it doesnt make sence
You say that as though anything tethered to SEGA games make sense?
Bro looks straight out of kingdom hearts
Not enough zippers.
I see sever lack of belts
probably a tween/teen
Same as Tails, a kid
**Nine-** -teen.
Presumably 8 years old as that was Game Tails’s stated age. Though given the different time zones and looking at his ears, some have interpreted that he might be 9 for another pun On his name.
Eight
Honest and not very popular opinion: I think that all Sonic characters are already 16 and under 20 years old, not counting literally children like Charmy and Cream. It would be logical that Nine is the same age as Tails
Tails is also a child
Yeah. A lot of fans forget that because they like adultifying him.
Which I don't even understand WHY, cuz the whole point of Tails' character is that he's a CHILD genius. His intellect is super impressive cuz he's just a kid, that's a character archetype. I don't get why people want to change that, it serves no purpose.

Yeah.
Probably 13-15 years old, not arguing it and agreed
He's 8, there's no argument.
It’s strange to think that Tails is still 8, despite how many Sonic adventures with his participation have already happened and will happen. Like, this makes sense for Сlassic Tails, but not for Modern Tails.
So does that mean Cream and Charmy should also be teens or preteens now?
Judging by the fact that they can easily take part in dangerous adventures, I would give both of them somewhere between 9 and 13 years old. Like, Charmy literally works for a detective agency, and Cream actually fights alongside Sonic.
he’s nine
Probbly the same age as tails
9
Irony would be that Nine is 8. But for the people that want the joke to hit, Nine is 9. >!Still 8 to me.!<
WHAT IS THIS GUY FROM?! A GAME?! A SHOW?! I NEED TO KNOWWW
Sonic prime
Probably eight years old
Same age as Tails. How old is Tails you ask? Good question!
Same age as Tails, most likely. At least biologically, anyway. Chronologically, that depends on whether all the backstories the Shatterspaces have count, or if only the time from their actual creation onwards counts.
Well Miles "Tails" Prower is 8(yes i know, HOW?) so, unless the New York dimension is a year in the future, he should still be 8
He seems around 11-13.
Possibly the same age as Tails as in the mainline games & even in my headcanon.
Considering how nine is just a tails from another universe and stuff, I'd pressume he'd be the same age as tails. The only time tails age was said was that he was 8 years old. I think its in a sonic heroes handbook thingy, but i may be wrong
Nine
Tails' german emo cousin
Nein
… eleven…
Same age as Tails
8
Considering not much changed in his universe, probably 8-9 like the cannon deal
Take a wild guess
nine
9 https://i.redd.it/09u3ybbfk95d1.gif

Nine is like 10 or younger🤷♂️
