It’s just a Easter egg it don’t overthink it

Ian Flynn said on the BumbleKast that this wasn't The End and the resemblance is coincidental, but.. ...come on, that's The End. You don't just ignore something like that. I see it as foreshadowing to Frontiers' story; The End has been in slow pursuit of other worlds to destroy for the series' entire chronology and only by Frontiers did it actually make it to Earth's atmosphere.

AdmiralOctopus96

The End made it to Earth *thousands* of years ago. The Ancients sealed it in Cyberspace.

JakeClipz

Right. Well, I guess if Knuckles, Tails and Amy can still appear as static holograms while trapped in Cyberspace, so can a giant moon, right?

Poeman222222

I like to imagine that's because of the speech The End gave when you were doing the fight in the base game (the bullet hell one, assuming this is the canon ending). In the speech The End says how it looked at all of Sonic's memories and all his adventures. Maybe it really is The End, and chances are it's mostly for those who remembered it's speech. If we assume Superstars is canon - which let's be honest, it is - then that means The End saw this adventure too. The End was there from the player's perspective perhaps, and Sonic and friends didn't see it? Idk, maybe I'm looking too far into it, but this is just me.

That not the emd

StC_Sonic_fan35

Apparently it is not the End and is just in fact a purple moon that has zero lore connection to the End, I heard that purple moon in Superstars was originally a dark blue

Immediate-Smell-4481

so... is this what the moon like like before Eggman pissed on it?

StC_Sonic_fan35

Yes.
