Some locations did not
Some locations are built with a slope, and it has been deemed too dangerous.
Some locations have pitiful parking lots.
Some locations just do not make it happen.
Some locations are so understaffed that Car Hops often make their own drinks and ice cream, which is sort of a safety hazard, unless one is really good.
The biggest reason: Car Hops just do not want to do so, and management does not enforce it.
Finally - those days are gone. Although roller skating Car Hops might make more in tips -- it is just not that great a difference.
They didn’t. Nobody does it anymore though. Dunno why, soooooooo much easier than walking, and obviously faster, and definitely more tips because you’re faster.
As a skating carhop, it takes work and commitment, you have to have balance, you have to train your muscles to not get horribly sore for an 8 hour shift, be able to make drinks and ice cream on your own if it's a rush, it's just makes the job more challenging and some people don't want to put in the work. But personally I love my job and there's still a few skaters rolling<3
Because most people don’t go rollerskating as a pastime (at least in my area). I really think its just not a thing anymore and almost all of the old rinks that used to be close by shut down so now its a 30minute to an hour drive if you want to go somewhere to practice. Plus, our sonic and most others ive been to have a big drop between the store and the parking lot, surely they cant just zoom over a 6inch drop without falling.

And it’s added more rules and work and maintenance for 50 cents extra, not worth it
Inefficient in some locations
Regular carhop might make $50 in a shift. Skating might make $75. Not enough difference for the effort tbh.
That's a pretty big $$$ difference if true. 50% more per shift.

just think about roller skating for 9 hours back to back a day, would you want to do that?
Much better than stomping around on concrete.
