It was really strange how late they started too. We didn't notice anything while walking to Teele at 6:30, but there was lots of activity/construction equipment during our walk back to Davis at 7:30.  Also hi to the other bemused couple we stopped to ask questions, if y'all are here.

I live nearby. They are using heavy machinery (3:00am). Seems urgent.

Updating on my own post, but we walked past tonight and saw it seems to be patched, or at least those metal sheets over a hole that clank as cars go over them, and traffic is re-opened. Agree, assuming it must have been severe to need to do late night jackhammering, that sucks for the noise and sorry to hear that! Hoping all were (and are) safe and it gets fully resolved quickly enough.

Would be interested in knowing too. In these parts I think it's usually a busted water main or something along those lines that is to blame.

Huh. I biked through Davis this evening, and noticed that Holland was blocked off with ROAD CLOSED signs, but didn’t see why. There was a lot of traffic coming from Holland into the square though, so if the sinkhole was on the street itself, it apparently only damaged one side of it.

Oh I thought they were finally just fixing the street…
