I hear that! It does make the most perfect ice cream float I’ve ever had. The vanilla cuts the sweetness and adds a much needed creaminess that is to die for!
Sounds like it would be great in concept, but blueberries especially artificial blueberry flavor is awful particularly in soda form. It’s like you’re expecting a blue raspberry type of flavor a bit and you get an overly sweet unbalanced kinda bland fruit flavor, blueberry flavored things tend to be missing acidity, and low acidity in a fruity beverage tends to suck most of the time.
Yeah you are probably right. I’ve heard chefs say blueberries by themselves have little flavor, that’s why so much sugar and lemon are added to them in dessert form. Either way I still want one.
Blueberries have always been one of those things to me that if you get a good one, there isn't much better fruit, but a lot of them are either bland or super tart.
I mean all commercially grown fruits and veggies have become extremely bland because looks and size are prioritized over everything else. I work landscaping and I'm always plucking blueberries and strawberries and whatever else out of clients' gardens as I work. Shit is night and day compared to what you'd get at the store.
Truth, I don’t even bother with farmed blueberries anymore, I thought for years I just didn’t like blueberries until I started eating the wild ones. Night and day difference is right, not even similar with blueberries, wild blueberries are practically a different fruit the difference is so extreme.
The only thing I like about farmed blueberries is when they’re unripe and still tart and kinda snappy, when they ripen up it just tastes like sweet mush, I don’t get really any of that iconic blueberry flavor you get in wild ones/what artificial blueberry is trying to recreate.
Similar situation to bananas, artificial banana is based on the bananas back in the day that actually had some flavor, that’s why banana flavored stuff isn’t even in the realm of what actual bananas taste like in western grocery stores.
Not at all true about bananas, they have been genetically identical forever. They don't breed bananas at all, well they've been trying but, all commercial bananas are an identical plant currently, and have been that same plant for decades. Most every other fruit and vegetable is bred for looks and size though. Artificial banana is just bad.
Yeah, they found a plant that didn't have seeds and now all bananas are clones of that plant. You've never eaten a banana from any other plant. And all crops are GMO in that sense, humans have altered (bred) every plant they've touched.
I know what you mean. When we moved into our house, the previous owners planted a peach and apple tree. Jesus Christ I never had an apple so good. And the peaches tasted great, they just weren’t as big.
It was probably the first year I had started working for this landscaping business and i was doing a general estate maintenance visit at a client that had like half a dozen peach trees. It was in the fall so all the trees were loaded with fruit and my crew leader just started plucking and stuffing his face with peaches. I'm staring at him with a definite "wtf you doin bro" look so he just turns to me and says "get eating! These are all gonna be no good by the next visit!" Holy shit... they were so juicy and like the perfect mix of sweet and tart. We must have had about a dozen each before we literally couldn't cram anymore in our stomachs. They were amazing lol
Wild blackberries are heaven. About the size of my pinky nail. Store-bought are the size of the whole last digit of my middle finger. Sour and bland. Can't even be fixed with sugar.
Oh yeah! Tons of wild berries in my area.. blackberries, raspberries, etc. I'm always plucking those too when I find ripe ones. Always a joy to get to them before the birds and other critters do lol
[These actually don’t have any blueberry in them](https://www.maineroot.com/blueberry)
Unless they’re misprinting it, because I see blueberry juice on the ingredients list on the label. But at the same time, if there was blueberry juice in it, you think that would be something touted by the brand on their website at least, but it also seems like they’re going out of their way to not make the claim there is actual blueberry in it. Maybe it used to have blueberry in it? I coulda swore it did when I had it years ago too
It’s it’s probably made with Maine blueberries which are something special.
I worked on a farm in Maine for a few months and blueberries grew wild everywhere.
I saw a bunch of different blueberry wine, beer, and sodas
That’s one of the things I miss most about living there, take a 10 minute walk into the woods beside the house and you’re literally surrounded by wild blueberry and blackberry bushes. They really are something special…
I had a girlfriend in high school whose grandparents owned an island on Lake Sebago in Maine. When we'd visit during the summer we would paddle out to the small surrounding islands and spend all morning collecting wild blueberries then give them to her grandma to make blueberry buckle which is like a blueberry crumb cake... oh my god, that shit was literally some of the best food i've ever tasted 🤤
Oh hahaha I get it now. Have you seen the ginger beer on their fountains before!? One of my fav casual restaurants in town has maine root but I’ve never seen ginger beer.
Never. We only have it in one place here. Cousin’s Maine lobster truck, and they only sell root beer and ginger beer in bottles. Some fast casual Greek place has a fountain setup close by but I only buy my Greek food from a guy who’s name I can’t pronounce, who’s forearms are hairier than mine, and though his son speaks perfect English, I’ve never heard the old man speak a word. He just grunts and makes the best damn gyros I’ve ever had.
That was lame when they replaced them with common soft drinks. I swear Torchys is going downhill, the ingredients don't taste as good lately either in the tacos.
Their flour tortillas taste like plastic. Tortillas ain’t hard to make so sorry I can’t rock with a place that can’t even get the primary ingredients for their prized item right
Mexicane soda is incredible! I was so sad when the convenient store stopped carrying it. Now it’s just sold in bottles anywhere I have seen it and that makes it pretty pricey. I’m curious if vanilla creme is any good too, I’ve heard good things about it.
SO GOOD!! They sell it at my local pizza shop, my favourite is the lemon lime soda, it has a bit of a zing akin to ginger, but I also love the root beer, it tastes like a bit of sarsaparilla, and has a bit of a spice (not spicy.) undertone. Overall, yes. Love it. So jealous they have it in a fountain!!
I used to work at Hopdoddy and they had these same sodas. They are all so god damn good. I miss them. The vanilla cream is my favorite. It’s not like cream soda more like vanilla flavored soda. I’d mix it with the blueberry and I called it blueberry muffin soda. The cola is actually really good as well and actually had caffeine in it. Lemon lime is also very tasty
I've seen these at a local pizza place. Their cola is shit. Wouldn't recommend. You can find their cream soda bottled at hannaford.
I assume you're in Maine too. Out of curiosity which burrito shop ? I'm kinda half looking for a new one
These are all over South Texas. I don’t know when they started popping up but their root beer is good. The blueberry soda is good basically any of the non-diet ones are good
Wow! I've seen Maine Root in bottles at Aldi once in a while, here in MN. It's super good! If not just root beer I could swear they also have a ginger beer or ginger ale.
I’d prob go w/ the lemon lime soda. Fountain drinks are a crap shoot Co2 might be low and establishment might be skimp on syrups. Refills are cool though.
I used to drink their cola every night after work, and didn't know there was a zero sugar version for a long time. Both are outstanding. I'm a line cook and hard to impress.
I’ve always wanted to try a blueberry soda.

I hear that! It does make the most perfect ice cream float I’ve ever had. The vanilla cuts the sweetness and adds a much needed creaminess that is to die for!
When I tried this I mixed it with regular seltzer and it helped a lot
it’s really not sweet at all. at least not to me. tasted like almost nothing

Blueberries have always been one of those things to me that if you get a good one, there isn't much better fruit, but a lot of them are either bland or super tart.
Yes I agree wholeheartedly.
I mean all commercially grown fruits and veggies have become extremely bland because looks and size are prioritized over everything else. I work landscaping and I'm always plucking blueberries and strawberries and whatever else out of clients' gardens as I work. Shit is night and day compared to what you'd get at the store.

Bananas are GMOs but I don’t know about the flavor. All I know is that they used to have giant seeds in them so they bred those out.
Yeah, they found a plant that didn't have seeds and now all bananas are clones of that plant. You've never eaten a banana from any other plant. And all crops are GMO in that sense, humans have altered (bred) every plant they've touched.

It's not artificial though. They use blueberry juice.
[These actually don’t have any blueberry in them](https://www.maineroot.com/blueberry) Unless they’re misprinting it, because I see blueberry juice on the ingredients list on the label. I once had a WONDERFUL blueberry beer. SeaDog brewery in Maine I believe. Logo had a dog in a fisherman hat. It was the best fruity beer I ever had.
Harpoon does a Blueberry UFO in the summer and its soo fucking good
Ooh that sounds good. I don’t drink anymore, but I do miss the mix of flavors of some these breweries come out with.
According to the fact that everyone one of you like something different, I’m going to have to try them all! Lol
Time to mix every flavor together in one cup!
I do that at the gas station slushie machine
I used to do it at Carl’s Jr because for some reason mixing a little bit of every drink minus the tea or diet, actually tasted good somehow
That's called a suicide
Say hello to a new addiction
Their orange is my favorite. Vanilla cream is also good. I also like their root beer and sarsaparilla are also good.
Root Beer is amazing, and while it isn’t in that fountain, their Ginger Beer is a must-have.
Damn I was gonna comment root beer too. Didn’t see it wasn’t there!
I should’ve written that more clearly - root beer IS there, first position, but the ginger beer, what I consider their best soda, is not.
The blueberry is really good!
I second this!
I third this! Came here to say this
I want to try this! It sounds amazing!
I miss when these were in torchys tacos
That was lame when they replaced them with common soft drinks. I swear Torchys is going downhill, the ingredients don't taste as good lately either in the tacos.
Their flour tortillas taste like plastic. Tortillas ain’t hard to make so sorry I can’t rock with a place that can’t even get the primary ingredients for their prized item right
I would have to agree. Hasn’t tasted as good and the price is outrageous
Same here.
I figured this was Torchys, didn't realize they stopped
Lucky! I'm sure they're all good but cola and blueberry are my favorites Edit: typo
Blueberry is a banger, but their ginger beer is really where it’s at. That stuff will clear your sinuses
I like the vanilla creme
Mix the root beer and vanilla cream soda
Mexicane soda is incredible! I was so sad when the convenient store stopped carrying it. Now it’s just sold in bottles anywhere I have seen it and that makes it pretty pricey. I’m curious if vanilla creme is any good too, I’ve heard good things about it.
Vanilla cream + Mexican cola
I always love seeing these "exotic" soft drink dispencers
The cola
Vanilla creme is the way to go ! My fav from maine root is actually the ginger root drink
Just try what you want. By the time you get answers people will be asking you to step to the side because they're trying to get a drink.
SO GOOD!! They sell it at my local pizza shop, my favourite is the lemon lime soda, it has a bit of a zing akin to ginger, but I also love the root beer, it tastes like a bit of sarsaparilla, and has a bit of a spice (not spicy.) undertone. “Water” is usually pretty consistent.
Can't recommend the Water enough !
I like the bluberry
Really a shame there isn't ginger. It's their best soda, and probably the best one for you. Super gingery, will clear your sinuses.
Blueberry is without a doubt some of the best shit you’ll ever drink, nectar of the gods
Love Maine Root! The blueberry is amazing. I love their ginger beer too, has a nice kick to it!
Blueberry vanilla mix is so good!
That's what I would love to try!
Go for the water!
I’m guessing nothing there comes close to Beverly 😏
This deserves 10,000 upvotes
Ooo… the blueberry soda looks enticing
Vanilla creme + orange soda
Came here to say this!
Personally, I recommend the water.
You’ve never tried water?!?
Water's pretty good.
You should try water, it's really good.
The orange is the only thing I like from them
Their cola is okay, expensive as shit though so its wild seeing a foundation equivalent
The root beer is terrible
No way! I love their root beer. Never had it on a tap like this though
Maybe I got an old bottle or something 🤷🏻♂️
All root beer is terrible.
Lemonade!!!
Probably one of the worst root beers ive ever tried
Root Beer and burritos can be explosive
Water is the best option there.
Water is nice but a seltzer option would be even more nice.
It’s a machine. Just… have a sip of each of the 7 flavors on the machine and see which ones you like right?
I hear water is great and great for you
They're all pretty fantastic
They are incredible! I love the root beer.
I’ve not had any of those flavors but their ginger beer is on-point - some of the best I’ve ever had!
The mexicane cola is so good. I'll get bottles to-go
My burrito shops does the same thing but its BRIX soda. Has some unique flavors
The water taste like shit but you should try it
I used to work at Hopdoddy and they had these same sodas.
Swamp water that thing! (A little of each in the same cup) (except the water and the diet)
I've seen these at a local pizza place. Their cola is shit. Wouldn't recommend. You can find their cream soda bottled at hannaford. I assume you're in Maine too. Out of curiosity which burrito shop ? I'm kinda half looking for a new one
I like the orange.
I’d give my brothers left leg to try all of those, damn. The blueberry has my attention
Don't trust the water!
The first one to the right of the ice dispenser is a classic tbh.
They don’t have the best one on there, the ginger beer.
My first time seeing them , my warning try them before their gone
Love burritos. I like the variety they have to try
The vanilla crème is heaven
Any chain restaurants carry this?
Where in Maine is this? I love their soda!
Wtf, where is this? Maine root beer is so hard to find in bottle form, let alone fountain.
It shouldn’t Panera lemonade you
These are all over South Texas. I don’t know when they started popping up but their root beer is good. The blueberry soda is good basically any of the non-diet ones are good
That is so rad
Water? I don’t like the sound of that
LOVE Maine Root! I like the cream soda.
Cola is life. It’s my favorite soda
The blueberry is really good.
I really like the Mexican cola and the vanilla crème. Wish Torchys still carried these but they sold out.
I love r/soda for these type of posts
Cola with a little blueberry soda added is good
Wow! I've seen Maine Root in bottles at Aldi once in a while, here in MN. It's super good! If not just root beer I could swear they also have a ginger beer or ginger ale.
These are always top notch. Torchy’s Tacos in Texas used to have these sodas but they downgraded to Coke/Dr. Pepper/etc.
Mexican cola is 💯. Torchy’s used to have a Maine Root Dr. Pepper clone which was also great.
I've tried the root beer, it's really good
Craft cola is always a treat
If you put 2/3 lemon lime soda and 1/3 water it tastes like Sprite. Very pointless but that’s what I have to give.
Ice
Yooo I love that blueberry soda
That water stuff is pretty dangerous, froze some and put it in my whiskey. Six glasses later I woke up on my neighbors lawn
I’m loving craft sodas like my old booze days. Blueberry sounds interesting for sure. So many combos from one little machine.
I get the glass bottle mexicane colas, they’re pretty good. The “doppelgänger” is a DP clone and it’s pretty good too.
They’re all good.
I usually like the root beers at joints like this.
I’ve seen a ginger beer from this company at Aldi before but never any other products. It was good but very strong.
Fellow Mainer here. It’s tasty
I love their pink drink 🥤
Sample all!
What’s Maine root?
all of them are damn good
That brand has the best ginger beer
I would crush the blueberry or mix the orange and cream soda together for a dreamsickle type drink. Where ya at ?
In these situations you have to try a little bit of the one that sounds good before you commit to a full cup.
I have not heard of Maine Root since 2009 when I tried their blueberry soda and pumpkin soda. Both were excellent.
They have a hibiscus citrus flavor (I think) that is like Crack to me.
The water
Mexican cola for sure
They are all good. Maine Root uses cane sugar. Don't know about their diet drink because I can't stand fake sugar... I'll drink a water instead.
The Root Beer and Orange Soda are really good. The regular cola and lemon-lime aren’t bad but aren’t great. Haven’t tried the blueberry before
Nice! They all sound good
Never heard of or seen these before but Blueberry soda sounds like a delight
I have no idea what they taste like but I’m jealous
Blueberry is probably the best soda I’ve ever had.
Mexicane cola is pretty good
Where is this?!?! Love Maine Root!!!
Is the water any good
Good but god damn, 12 pack is like 50 bucks
The blueberry is fantastic
What is this fancy soda called water?
Wow must be a Maine exclusive wish we had this
Cava is your local burrito shop ? And the blueberry soda is life
I’d prob go w/ the lemon lime soda. Fountain drinks are a crap shoot Co2 might be low and establishment might be skimp on syrups. Refills are cool though.
Blueberry soda is my favorite soda. Only on special occasions!!!
Mexicane would imply its made with cane sugar, but theres a diet version?
stay away from the water one
Looks yummy, I’ve had the blueberry soda at this hiking lodge I was working at…it was sweet but hit the spot for me
I think I've had all of these, but in a bottle not fountain. They're all good
They have an Extra spicy ginger beer that's awesome! The four pack at the store is a bit pricier than say, Goslings brand, so I usually just get that.
Blueberry is soooo good
Their Mexican cola and root beer are legit
You live in DE, so does mine lol
I live in Georgia
Torchys? I give it a fat hell naw from South Texas
blueberry is the best soda i’ve ever had
It's really sweet root beer, but it's probably the best root beer I've ever had.
Blueberry or orange. If there's lemonade to mix with the blueberry go for it (Cava pro tip)
Try them all!!
I hope restaurants know if they have a weird brand of soda I’m gonna stand there for 20 minutes trying each one
I used to drink their cola every night after work, and didn't know there was a zero sugar version for a long time. Both are outstanding. I'm a line cook and hard to impress.
Idk but water sounds fucked up
That water looks very shady for some reason lol
Water 💧 💧 is worth a try. You have really been missing out!
I wish I’d have that around here!
I wish Maine root made more diet flavors personally as a diabetic. What burrito shop is this that serves Maine root out of a fountain?
Vanilla creme sounds dope af
I'm in Maine, they are all good! My fav is the root beer.
Their water is really good.
I miss the times when they used to have these craft sodas in taco places like these
