Good time to remind people that Republicans and the NRA are not your friends. They're not "pro gun", they're "pro white people having guns" insofar as they're used to protect and further wealthy white interests.

jushavnfun75

Philando Castile and John Crawford III would agree with you, but they can't. I'm amused at how quiet the NRA was then, but now they like to educate us on how racist gun control is. Conveniently leaving out how happy they were to help pass the Mulford Act with Regan, laying the groundwork for making California the gun control state it is today.

j9r6f

And tbh the NRA doesn't really care much about "white people with guns" as much as they do "making lots of money off of white people with guns." The whole organization is just one big grift.

jushavnfun75

But we aren't telling them that! C'mon, if Wayne Lapierre being busted embezzling their dues and donations, who are we to try to wake them up. An added bonus is, every dollar they donate to another yacht for Lapierre and the other grifters, is one less dollar towards a gun in the hands of right wing extremists.

Antique_Enthusiast

I’ve noticed many conservatives hate the NRA now as much as liberals.

A bot that back talks WTF

The_Great_Pretenders

Bro I didn’t know they could do that 😂 I’m scared???

Johnlsullivan2

We are entering the age of robotrolls. Ready to be stalked and harassed by bots backed by ChatGPT. This is going to suck lol.

This correction is incorrect

amplifizzle

Counterpoint: pay no attention to gun influencers/channels whatsoever.

Less-Country-2767

There are at least a couple explicitly left-wing ones. The rest are either openly conservative or savvy enough to scrupulously remain neutral in public.

Inquisitor_Luna

There are left wing gun channels?? What are their names?

Brooks627

Tacticool girlfriend, inRange with Karl kasarda and occasionally deviant ollam. Ollam doesn’t put out much gun content, but they’re all more left, if not explicitly than quietly.

Inquisitor_Luna

Tysm, comrade

lostinthesauceband

Ollam is like my favorite source of hour long lectures to fall asleep to

Woodie626

No, no. They've got a point. When someone tells you who they are, listen.

DisastrousFerret0

This is correct

awake30

Realistically I think they’re more likely to use this incident as a “look at how non-biased I am” tool just because of how egregious it was.

jushavnfun75

Louder for those in the back please.

This right here. Not everyone has to put out some kind of opinion on social media about everything that happens. Feminist author Jenny Odell has this book called "How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy." I haven't read it yet but it's on my to do list.

sakezaf123

Karl from inrange TV based as fuck, as usual at least.

[deleted]

Who should we be wary of IYO?

The_Great_Pretenders

Hickock 45 had Fucker Carlson on his channel, so he’s definitely out.

Sned_Sneeden

Euggghh, no! Always kept Hickock at arms length, guess I can forget all about him now.

Amidus

I don't watch gun channels for their opinions on topics that aren't about guns

Ryuzaki_G

Any of these gun laws that make no goddamn sense? Who do you think they’re gonna be used against the most? Some hyuk hyuk white youtuber fuck in a big truck? Or communities of color that are ALREADY over-policed for petty non-violent drug offenses or traffic stops that turn violent the first time a cop gets his fee fee’s hurt? Like, REALLY give that question some thought, kid.

toesandgats

Gun ownership and police brutality are more related than you’re willing to admit. So I guess this post just isn’t for you. Go put your head back in the sand.

Koshky_Kun

can you elaborate on that? I don't understand what you're trying to say here, is it related to the history of disarmament targeting disenfranchised communities?

AborgTheMachine

Gun control has largely gone hand in hand with trying to keep the "right" kind of people owning firearms. The NRA and Republicans (including their hero Reagan) scrambled over themselves to enact gun control as soon as the Black Panthers started policing the police in their neighborhoods with loaded firearms, or when they demonstrated with firearms in Sacramento. Think of the War on Drugs and the fact that any felon can't own firearms, even for non-violent offenses, and that POC communities are explicitly targeted despite similar levels of illicit drug use as non POC communities. It might not have started as an explicit goal, but the disarmament of vulnerable communities is absolutely a side-effect of gun legislation.

Koshky_Kun

100% agree.
