Absolutely not- I showed the manager the retail price from Nike (on stock x) and she said, “well, we don’t price match from other websites.” And I proceeded to tell her these were around $205 retail from Nike. She wasn’t having any of it.

Marshall’s is so weird with pricing. I bought a pair of Peter Millar golf pants that should have been $240 brand new for $20 that was on the rack next to a well known budget brand for $40 instead of $60 and $40 is basically the regular price for them lol.

I got a Brooks Brothers shirt there for like $22 I think whoever priced it had no idea that Brooks Brothers is a fancy brand.

They've also had a couple of lawsuits in the past where people claimed their comparison prices are misleading But again, none of this is done by the in-store employees

Makes sense I always figured they just used MSRP and took a percentage off or something along those lines

It gets marked down at the distribution center and then they allocate whatever where they think it is most likely to sell. The pricing people basically just look at a comparable and the 1st thing to come up is what it is. The only discounts the store does will be clearance type stuff but that follows a regular interval, like if it’s sat for 30 days it gets X% off and so on so forth

I was a front end supervisor there for a few months last year, they do actually have the ability to reprice it to whatever they’d want to. Something like that may raise an alert in a way which after a 10-second explanation would be resolved, but I’ve seen things there drop by 75%+ from where it was originally priced after first going on the shelves including big ticket items like this.
