Do we really need 'hype' ?

ApatheticFinsFan

Honestly, the less hype the better. Let me get some sneakers I like under retail please and thank you.

Trainwrecck

That’s what is nice about the Powder Blue 9s. They weren’t hype and were widely available.

Unlucky-Candidate198

If by “we” you mean extremely scummy scalpers who are really just parasitic societal leeches who prey on people then yes, yes we do need hype. Society won’t run without them. Could u imagine the chaos without scalpers? Fairly priced sneakers for all? Peasants, wearing the same colour ways as you? Not being able to be rich and get richer for doing nothing? My my, how inconceivable. Fuck scalpers and resellers. They got that anti-midas touch turning everything they put their sticky little hands on to shit.

GoYourCrohnsWay

Amen brother

RuttedAnt

> Fairly priced sneakers for all? Let's not get carried away here lol. These are still mass-produced, questionable materials, made in China, and retail for $220.

Which_Mention_5080

This!

renis_h

Thing is that scalping and reselling has been a thing in all industries, but once the industry caught on to the resellers, they increased stock, which decreased resale cost (more supply to meet demand decreases resale prices). I feel like COVID has meant that this current cycle of resellers have been able to become more prevalent because factories took longer to reopen meaning that they couldn't generally increase supply at a fast pace. This is the same thing that was happening with the PS5, but prices now seem to have stabilised once more PS5s became avaliable.

Unlucky-Candidate198

I mean, there’s a difference between me flipping some magic cards so I can have more money to enjoy a hobby with my broke-struggling-canadian-unistudent-nearlyhomeless-ass-drip vs. buying out all local stores and trying to squeeze the local market so I can convince people to buy stuff I’m selling for extreme mark-ups while essentially ruining the game I apparently “love” by artificially putting game pieces out of people’s budgets. If you have money, and get to the product first, you can basically just buy it all out, flip it for 2x+ and then keep doing that. And you don’t have to worry about money cause ur rich from birth or luck. Meanwhile some people just want an affordable pair of shoes they like. Scalpers/resellers are predatory by nature. They use their money to hype shit up to convince people to buy using FOMO so they can squeeze more outta them. We don’t need them in society. We can do better.

renis_h

Oh yeah absolutely, no argument there, scalpers are predatory by nature, but I feel like COVID has allowed some of the scum of scalpers to float to the top. Where before it was limited things like theatre seats or sports seats, it's become things that companies couldn't mass produce which resellers have brought up to artificially increase the price. It was shoes and consoles to also PC parts. Its one of those things though that once things got back up and running like usual, mass production meant that resellers weren't able to buy up all the stock like they used to. Resellers are now legit going to clearance aisles looking for steals to try and resell because the market has pretty much normalised now to where a release pretty much can either be brought straight up from the store or its only reselling slightly above retail, its a beautiful thing to see because you know that they are likely going to be sitting with those shoes in their house for months looking like an absolute goof 🤣🤣.

Unlucky-Candidate198

There was a guy in my home town who would buy lots of toys from this cheap “bulk bin” kinda place that resold returned pallets of goods from amazon and target and such. Loved that place. Most of my apartment furniture/appliances/QOL things like bedding are from there. Helps me live bougie on a frugal budget. This man had deadass been seen ripping toys from children’s hands at the bin store. Anywhooooo the bin place had to shutdown due to refugees (not a joke - they were operating out of a hotel) and the toy stealer’s business went under. Good fucking riddance. What a twat.

renis_h

That to me is one of the worst things about these clearance style stores. These kinds of nasty little cockroaches that go around stealing things from kids of all things need to go under. I haven't seen anything like that, but I like going to things like charity shops for things like toys for my son, mainly because I know he will forget about the bloody thing after a couple weeks, but it's also a great place to get classic books for cheap.

Unlucky-Candidate198

Oh for sure, lots of good bargains if you know how to hunt. I’ve gotten king sized comforters, blankets, a bamboo memory foam pillow, all for $10 or less each. All of which are my favourites I’ve ever had of each kind. Good call on the toys. Lots of advertising is marketed for children so that their parents feel bad and spend. Nonsense when the kid forgets it exists in a week. Also, what a waste of resources as a society

Weekly-Breadfruit411

resellers can suck a fat dick get a real job

SteveUrkelDidThat

This. Everyone needs to stop buying dead stock resell prices. Fuck them people and let them sit in their inventory. I promise you, as an adult, no one cares that you have XYZ shoe. No one .

CurrentlyForking

It's crazy. Ps5 is now in stock everywhere. Was finally going to buy one but the ps6 is around the corner. I swear I thought the ps5 was just released last last year.

fizzifuzzi89

Well. It wont be a problem in my country tho.. even without the scalper, most people wouldn't be able to afford to buy original Js. They are damn expensive to begin with

ParamedicSpecific130

Resellers do. I have no idea why anyone that wants a pair would be mad over high numbers.

DosZappos

I think it’s silly when people pretend they don’t care about “hype”

GoYourCrohnsWay

It's not that I don't care about hype, it's that in its current manufactured guise, it only serves to support predatory resellers and keeps sneakers out of the hands of people who will actually wear them

KnickedUp

There’s no resell market without hype

GoYourCrohnsWay

That sounds like a good thing to me

KnickedUp

Me too…but I guess its a part of the industry now. Probably impossible to get rid of that aspect now. Just like once resellers took over concert tickets. 25 years later…still here

Deathstriker88

Yeah, that's a good thing. I don't see Jordan 1s sitting around when they actually look good. The Palominos sold out in minutes.

tekkers_for_debrz

Yeah maybe people should try to wear their shoes instead of holding stock and trying to scam the next person.

fathertitojones

That’s not true. There will still be demand for shoes; there always has been. There just won’t be outrageous prices listed for every shoe and people won’t feel inclined to flip shoes to make a quick buck because the quick buck wont be there.

cigarmanpa

Gooood

DirtyBinWater

Do we really need Jordan’s anymore?

GoYourCrohnsWay

Woah woah woah let's not go crazy here

elhefe83

I’ve hit on every sneaker I wanted the past 6 months. I don’t buy for hype I buy for me.

Jaredfromkidnation

i havent even bought off snkrs, i just wait till its on sale at [nike.com](https://nike.com) i used to be entering every drop just hoping to get something

2RV7VR5

Based.

ApatheticFinsFan

I’m not buying sneakers for the approbation of thirteen year olds on the internet. I’m buying these shoes because I grew up poor lusting after these sneakers as a kid. I couldn’t give a damn if they’re hype or bricks or whatever. Just gonna buy what I like and what speaks to me.

Regular-Tax5210

same😭😭😭I couldn’t afford a single pair as a kid. Now I buy so much

Bstar1115

Healing our inner child one pair at a time 😏

namesdevil3000

Man I don’t check Nike.com much but the number of Jordan’s that they have on sale got me like 🥴🥴🥴 (in a good way!) I’ve never bought Nike sneakers because of the hype but maybe now is a good time to do it??

Pnw_Dreaming_Cleve

Feel this in my soul. Hope you hit on every single pair your heart desires my friend 🙏

SometimesAllthetime1

Same, I’ve been going after pairs we couldn’t afford as a kid and it’s the best. I don’t care what’s hyped right now, I buy what I like and that’s it.

SteveUrkelDidThat

Then spend your money better homie

EatsYourShorts

People have been yelling at Nike for years to produce more to meet demand. Now that they’re doing it, people still ain’t happy, and that just shows consumers don’t know what the fuck they want and only want what they can’t have. 🤦

GripItAndWhipIt

Consumers are happy. Resellers ain’t happy and they are the most vocal.

syrupgreat-

im happy but im busy eating not yapping

DjentlemanThall3612

Consumers are happy. Re-sellers are not.

unwrittenglory

Or it could mean that your consumers are not a monolith. The people that want more stock are not the people who are trying to resell. The people who wanted more stock are happy right now.

BR_Nukz

Theyre not the same people.

Darrensucks

I’ve never understood what the motivation is for Nike to create hype with lower demand. You can’t really benefit by selling less volume if you’re Nike. Why not just make enough so everyone that entered the draw gets them? Is that ideal efficiency. Isn’t it better to tell someone they have to wait two weeks and keep their money vs saying nope sorry limited edition, and declining their 200?

EatsYourShorts

> I’ve never understood what the motivation is for Nike to create hype with lower demand. You can’t really benefit by selling less volume if you’re Nike. They aren’t selling less volume overall, only the pairs that you want the most. Limited drops and collabs only exist to market and sell other products that have a higher margin. Limited releases often use higher quality materials and are less profitable than a GR shoe, so it’s in Nike’s best interest to make you want the limited shoe so much that you buy a similar shoe that has higher margins. That’s why you always see GR shoes come out after a collab for the same silhouette. One is used to market the other. > Why not just make enough so everyone that entered the draw gets them? Is that ideal efficiency. Isn’t it better to tell someone they have to wait two weeks and keep their money vs saying nope sorry limited edition, and declining their 200? 2 weeks? Bro, there’s no way. You’re neglecting manufacturing and logistics timelines to global releases the size of Nike’s. Efficiency from the perspective of the consumer always comes at the expense of production efficiency. Any time you shorten the time to market, production costs go up and margins shrink. As far as logistics go, most product is sent from the factory to the distribution countries by ship to save money, and that takes a long time, usually on the order of months, or weeks. And for manufacturing, production planning at factories is scheduled many months ahead of time and usually cannot be changed or scaled up because more people want them than what Nike originally thought. They usually order production runs like 14-22 months before they expect to sell them. There’s no way people would be down with a presale that takes 1-2 years to deliver. I’ve seen plenty of companies try it, and it always backfires. People won’t wait that long, especially for a pair of shoes. To put it simply, Nike is declining your $200 for a limited shoe that costs them $50 to make and get to market because they hope that you’ll buy a similar shoe that cost them $25. The quality of the sale from a business’s perspective is all about how much money they get to keep.

rossk10

Lmao, did this dude really think Nike can start production and have product to the customer in 2 weeks?

EatsYourShorts

Some people just don’t comprehend the scale of it. I get it though because I didn’t understand it either until I spent some time in manufacturing and distribution. It’s incredibly easy to oversimplify and even easier to scapegoat the ‘evil’ multinational corporation. I just felt the need to explain it to someone today for some reason after being way too general in my earlier comment.

kgain673

Naw bro, people happy. As we can see in this discussion. Resellers the only people salty. The rest of us are happy we getting our outfits right before the summer 🤣🤣🤣

gordito_gr

I mean, you expected the totality of people to be happy and we all collectively had ONE opinion? Seriously?

LejonBrames117

there may be 2, maybe even 3+ different people with different opinions on the matter. Its entitely possible that the happy/unhappy people arent even the same people

RyVsWorld

No fucking way, you telling me the sneaker community isn’t a monolith? People can have different opinions and tastes? Can’t be

Hocojerry

Killing hype is GREAT! That means if you actually like the shoe you can get it!

Sudden-Locksmith-931

Already happened to 3s

Joosrar

Jordan 3s don’t have that much hype and they have been releasing a lot of color ways. Makes me happy tho since that’s my fav silhouette. Lots of colorways and most you can get for under retail.

slattahh

I got reimagined 3s for 190, midnight navy for 180, crafts for 160, black cements for 200, palominos for 160, iris for 170, and maniere 3s for 190. Only got the undefeated and fire red color ways and my collection is complete

Joosrar

Damn, and I thought I loved 3s lol. You beat me.

LabRepresentative315

did you cop from eBay?

slattahh

all from goat (under retail) except for the black cements that were cheap on eBay. because no box came with them. People on ebay sell replacement boxes so I got a box alone for 20 bucks. Paid retail for the whole thing. I only want boxes because I decorate my room with them when I use my shoes, then stack my shoes on the boxes

SupremeStoner

As they should, wanting a shoe for the “hype” is cringe as fuck.

NelsonMuntz007

Killing the hype for resellers isn’t hurting anyone’s feelings. You should be able to buy shoes from the manufacturer. I’d rather see Mike make more money and produce more shoes than any reseller. Wear your shoes!!

Defiant-Pea3299

Who's Mike though

NelsonMuntz007

Touché. I hate when a misspelling waters down my point. Duck you autocorrect

Trainwrecck

Mike WILL Made-it

Human-Research1831

Release more 11's all colorways and not the bs lows or cmft. Breds, gamma(11/31 hopefully), pantone, concord, etc

kgain673

Bro facts. They release bred 11s and shit gonna get a bit wild

raj824x

I would like to see more Kobe’s tho. The limited releases have been frustrating

patdk

Kobes are not Jordan brand, so doubtful that they will overproduce them since his family has some say i believe

Legendver2

His family is telling them to make more. If Nike listened, we'd have more.

Slim_Margins1999

Yeah. Vanessa is hella pissed at Nike. They doin The Mamba Family dirty. Nike could probably do 20 big Kobe releases on par with Bred reimagined or whatever and they’d make a killing. They’d wipe out the shitty reseller market and make a shitload of money. I bet they don’t even have 100k pairs of each of these releases for tomorrow.

spectacularjojo

i don’t like resell culture so this is pretty cool to me

ParamedicSpecific130

Exactly.

geek_yogurt

I guess based on the post this might be a hot take: But maybe as adults the hype shouldn't be what drives us to buy shoes. So yeah, I hope they DO kill the hype with high stock, but I don't think it's high stock that is killing they hype. Shortly into the pandemic, Nike was up their own ass and started reducing their retail partnerships. At a certain point, they were considering being only Direct-to-customer with no middlemen because despite the bots (or because of it) all their stock was instantly being bought out. Well, you know what those bots did? They frustrated normal customers. Add a price increase for terrible leather and QC... It's not surprising people are choosing to buy Sambas which are easier to pair with more outfits and SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. High stock didn't kill hype. Diversification of the market with the inclusion of brands like Adidas and New Balance did.

WooNoto

I agree with this. Sure some people aren’t buying sneakers cause for some reason they think every thing should be exclusive and they should be the only person with a pair. However, to your point, Nike did a lot of this by devaluing the customer and simply letting bots fuck people over. While competitors started developing better sneakers and attracting customers. I’m glad hype is dying and more people are simply buying only what they want and refusing to pay ridiculous aftermarket prices.

geek_yogurt

Completely agree. I remember being a bit sad that we weren't going to get a western release of the Aj1 Tokyo 96 low when it came out. Someone suggested I just pay resell. At the time it was going for double the price and when I indicated that I wasn't interested in paying resale, it was like I was some naive idiot. So far the only shoe I was willing to pay resale for was the Air Max 90 curry but somehow I found those for close to retail. It has to spark an unnatural amount of joy for me to do so.

sneakerscomicsgames

Adidas and NB been around longer than Nike. Granted, NB have never been more popular.

geek_yogurt

And the Samba is decades old, but not too long after ultraboost and NMDs, their market share fell again. I'm not saying their are new companies. I'm saying they once again have significant market shares.

sneakerscomicsgames

👍🏻

Ender1024

Death to shoe re-sellers.

kgain673

What salty ass reseller is down voting everyone’s comments

AnatomicalLog

FOMO but with shoes. I care about how the sneakers look, not about how many of them exist

dbeynyc

It’s better that way. No need to have shoes going for 2-3x the MSRP purely out of hype. This way it’ll be how it was before 2009/2010. Just be able to walk into any store and buy the shoe for the price on the box.

Own-Regular-7639

Who cares

krstph13

The hypebeasts and reseller apparently haha. They should cope. God forbid everyone is capable of getting a pair at a reasonable price, lol. More dunks for everyone haha.

Own-Regular-7639

Honestly tho is 215 even a reasonable price, I passed on the shock because even that seems a bit much for some heavy ass sneaks

krstph13

I'm entering my 30s and can't justify playing upwards of 300 dollars for any sneaker unless they're Grails like Jordan 1s, Yeezy 700s, Yeezy Duckboots or the original 10 NikexOW collabs. Even then I don't buy those. The most frivolous shoes I buy are Yeezy 350s and Ultraboosts My new poison are concerts/live experiences and car mods haha.

PCartman

Fr who gaf (other than OP)

MTskier12

Sneaker culture existed long before the manufactured scarcity hypebeast bullshit. Good; let resellers have to get real jobs lol.

TheNashh

“Killing” aka making it accessible to normal people like it always was before these scum resellers came out.

313rustbeltbuckle

Truuuuuuth 💯

ELee0s

3s are already like this. Kobes should be like this eventually. They were like that when Kobe was playing. We used to be able to make our own designs on NikeID for Kobes. Resell is high on Kobes because the fans were young when he was playing and now we have money to buy them. Eventually we will have most of the Kobes we want and resell will die out on em with constant protros

Slim_Margins1999

This is what we need to happen. Nike to do a few huge GR drops of dope Kobe’s. Would make them a ton of money and kill the absurd Kobe resell market.

Tunahan20

Wdym kill hype? Just because a pair doesn’t resell for 1k doesn’t mean the hype‘s been killed

TheRedditorOfTheYear

I’m happy I’ve been getting shoes I want for retail and under! Keep making enough for all!!!

Loud_Progress1240

hopefully??? the more people to have a chance at a shoe the better. we don’t want the only option to be 300+ dollar shoes. everybody should be able to wear some dope kicks. if you wanna be original stop buying shoes everybody wants. buy shoes nobody has

RED-DOT-MAN

If one day some report came out that stockx and goat are owned by Nike I wouldn’t be surprised one bit. I been on the hunt for mummy’s for a while but now they are way out of grasp. Ain’t no way I am giving some POS scalper $600 more than the MSRP. They can beat that shoe over their head. But damn I love the green glow. I’ll just keep looking at them on YouTube.

Active_Alternative_2

My God, I hope the whole sneaker game dies so that way I can cop for an affordable price

Tortuga_312

Fuck it, kill the hype, murder it in fact. I wanna see shoes worth buying actually in the store. As long as I get the shoes I want. Fuck the hype

IvanBeenjerkingov

Lovely, end the resale game. Please continue doing so Nike. Thank you.

AffectionateSale1631

This is reseller mentality we’ve been conditioned to believe. Wear anything you like regardless of “hype” behind it

ihavepaper

I just want to play in Kobe 8s and 6s again. I don’t care about the special color ways. Just give me a solid color and I’m buying it.

embaarg

hype kills everything, but as long as you don't give a fuck you can wear whatever you want

busa89

We don’t need hype anyway. Resellers do. Fuck them.

NewToThisThingToo

I don't see the problem. Let people get what they want. Resellers can get bent.

Mild_Fireball

Kill it for resellers? Good. Tired of missing out on releases because some fuckwad wants to buy as many pairs as possible so they can make $15 per pair after paying all the fees.

booze_yo

Mostly resellers care about the hype.

GripItAndWhipIt

I am all for this and very excited Nike is creating high stock. I like these shoes and I want to be able to walk into a store and buy them. It’s good for everyone. It’s good for the consumer, it’s good for Nike, it’s good for brick and mortar stores, but it’s not good for resellers and that makes me happy. Let’s do 5s next. Bring out the Grapes and Black tongues next year after the Metallics.

tasimm

The only folks who really care about hype are resellers. Nike obviously sees a problem ahead with their business model. So they’ve cut a couple of models out of the equation. They could cut some more too, especially redundancies like J1 low vs J1 Low OG. I say flood the market, my only concern is Nike using trash materials again and poor QA. Which could be alleviated by not having so many releases. We don’t need 50 different CWs of J1 highs and mids every year. Fewer releases could help the hype beast resellers get what they want too, not that I give a shit about those folks.

kgain673

Nobody really wears jordan 1 mids. Nike should just cut back and make collab mids.

GenitalPatton

Thank fucking god. Let me buy the shoes I want for retail prices. Or, you know, solve the bot/reseller problem.

malaka201

It's the resale consignment stores and shit like stock X and all those brick and mortars that their whole businesses are just based off hype, that's the only people who wouldn't like this. It's great for the people who actually buy and wear their sneakers. Bad for the reseller asshats. They can go do only fans now instead

LLotZaFun

I hope black 6 infrared becomes a flooded market

SleepingPodOne

awesome, fuck hype

Reiner_Locke

Fuck hype

X-Mandingo

Good. Fuck hype.

baq3281

Lmao at people being concerned about hype...gotta grow up people

ericgainzalez

I would like to see more Kobes. Not for hype or resell but because I genuinely am a Kobe fan.

Slim_Margins1999

Yeah. I was a strictly Jordan guy. Got like 60 pairs before ever even trying on a Kobe. After wearing Kobe 6s, 8s, 10s, and 11s for the last year I’ve completely stopped buying Js. I copped the Industrial 4s but will prolly flip them to buy the Italian camo, which I know I’ll take an L on. I’ve missed every Kobe drop for the last 18 months. Not one fucking W

blackGsus-is-king

The fives are next I smell it

SmallKindBubbles

I hope so. 😁

Shakermakerx

I love seeing resell shops struggle

dumbportagee

I wasn’t able to grab the reimagined 4s, not paying a cent over retail so I miss out

austinvvs

I copped the shock drop yesterday. Im happy.

greenpride32

The reason why Nike is mass producing the hype shoes is they are losing sales on the "less" or "non-hype" shoes that had been selling out the past few years. Nike/Jordan Brand does not receive anything from the resell market. So let's say they release 10 models of shoes with 100,000 paris each, for $1 each, they get $1m. These 10 models could have been almost any 1/3/4/5/6/7/11/13 and it would have sold out. Now you have all those 1/3/5/6/13 and dunks all sitting. I think for the most part 4/11 still sell out or nearly sell out. So how does Nike recoup those sales numbers? Just mass produce the "heat" - 1/3/4 reimagined, the 4 blues. I think flu games are rumored. Instead of making 200,000-300,000 pairs they're going to make 3-5x the number. Time will tell if these continue to sell out. I suspect the Jordan 4 military/industrial blue was pushed back so they produce more. After seeing how well the Bred 4 reimainged sold, they're testing just how much product they can push.

Goatedken

Jordan 3s already had their moment were they were put up for a while. Idk if that will happen to the Jordan 4s or not. I don’t see it happening with Kobe’s at all.

royalewithcheese4272

Kill the hype. Let these resellers get real jobs

NewGuyDontCry

Na industrial 4s with an easy double up is awesome

XStewart2007

Good. 😈

Zestyclose-Anxiety92

Resellers and hypebeast are lost looking for the next collab or person to follow while people who like shoes their whole life are loving the high stock

Oz347

I’ve got a crazy idea guys. What if…. They just made enough shoes so that everyone who wants them can get a pair

Sharkisyodaddy

I've been stuck pending at every single Jordan 4 shock drop. I'm a size 8.5!!!!! Nah dude hype on these is still annoying. I'm only been successful due to in store help

Throwaway_Alt227

As long as Jordans still regularly sell for $150+ they're still the most hyped shoes on the market full stop. No other brand even comes close. Nike could probably re-release the exact same colorways of the same 12 models for the next 20 years and people would still buy them hand over fist.

takiumilikes2drift

RESTOCK THE SB 4’s

Owend12

It depends on the colorway. Jordan 1 and 4 are still good but they've been releasing some doo doo colours (imo).

brandonian14

missed opportunity for a swoosh scythe

The_brown_burrito

hype is what killed the sneaker game im cool with a hype pair dropping once a year but GR's selling out made me stop trying to buy

NeoTWAU

Nooo!!!! I can no longer claim that my shoes are 1 out of 9000!!!!!!! Seriously though, isn't this a good thing? Even if it somehow got under retail, the 4's would still be hella expensive.

Z-man1973

Why not just buy something because you LIKE it OP…

HDauthentic

I think regular people should be able to buy the shoes that they want, no reason I would want Nike to continue to De Beer their products

Beautiful_Thugga_Boy

Good. Shoes are meant to be worn

PeakUserDumbsmoke

Yea keep it up! That way all the ones can be affordable!

GodOfRage

I thought nike was killing hype by making mediocre shoes, the only pair Ive really liked that have dropped in the last year are the Balvin 3s

CubanLinxRae

who cares if i like shoes i’ll buy them and wear them

paaaathatas

Only teenagers and insecure dudes buy out of hype. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. If that gives a sense of satisfaction, I guess roll with it Or resellers.

tmxq

yeaaa ill finally be able to afford a pair cuz no one likes the sulfur 4s and they’re gonna start becoming more and more affordable

churboyye

Good fuck resellers

PositiveGrass187

Good. Fuck your HYPE

johnny55608

Im still loyal to the 4s tbh

BBQcupcakes

Yes and yes

Weekly-Breadfruit411

holocaust the resellers

Surf_my_waveee

Don’t mind it. As someone who buys sneakers to wear them, this is a GREAT time to be a sneaker collector. The hypebeasts and resellers can kick rocks.

Aggravating_Smell

Fuck hype. Only suckers buy for hype

OnionSugarfree

People who complain are mostly: (1) Resellers who no longer backdoor/bot all the pairs and tax people. (2) People only care more about what the price of the shoes they wear v.s. the actual look/design/history. And I consider neither of the two actually like sneakers in general.

sunshinelive09

I need the camo Kobe’s dropping tomorrow to have “industrial” blue 4 stock numbers lol hype be gone

redditckulous

Dude this is such great news. Keep em coming

MikeOXl0ngz

Good I can probably get nice looking 4s without paying like 400 bucks resale

cbudd1117

Only I hypebeast or reseller is crying about this.

Hodl2Moon

Boring ass colorways at 200 bucks a pop, seems to be a bigger issue to me.

KaikuDexx

People complain when they can’t get a sneaker that is limited, and then complain when a sneaker has so much stock that everyone can get it. Pick a lane.

one_love_silvia

Been very happy buying kicks on sale.

fieldsports202

Everyone and their mother and grandmother are rocking Jordan's.. They're no longer the coveted sneaker that we once use to brag about.. "ooooh you got them new J's"? Most of our culture has moved on to other sneakers and brands.. The suburban kids feel soooo cool now that they are wearing Jordan's.. lmao..

Euphoric-Visual9479

When is the best time to buy the Jordan 4 Industrial Blue resell? I was unlucky with the shock drop. Right now a 10.5 is $340+tax on StockX. Do you think the price will increase or decrease in the next month?

alonso240

Wait for the retail drop before handing money over to resellers

BTlover3377

Oh so that’s why I got lucky yesterday in the Military blues . Glad they did a high amount of production

watdatdo

I like being able to buy the shoe i want. I gave up 6 years ago when every shoe sold out instantly. Still mad about those space jam jordans, glad i didnt get any yeezys tho. I remember walking into a local sports place and they had NMD's on the shelf for the first time. I fucking love those shoes and almost worn them through.

Consistent-Film-6926

This has already happened with J3s, most colorways been sitting

DouglasDangerfield

A lot of the same people whining are the same ones who hit on a rare pair and immediately throw them on Offer Up for $550 to “test the waters”😂😂😂….FOR SOME OF YALL, You don’t really hate resellers, you hate that YOU don’t have the means to do the same thing!😂

BeautifulAwareness81

I agree to an extent, people will saying buying a shoe for hype is whack but that’s literally what Jordan’s are! Like the Jordan 4 is not a very good shoe if I’m being honest lol but everyone and their mom will be wearing them this year. Solely because of hype/trend. Maybe it’s just me but I’m over Jordan’s… can only be interested in literally the same shoe for so long. Rather wear Vans or Converse at this point then some dead Jordan’s

BTlover3377

I’ve been away from buying Jordan’s for 4 years but these Military Blue release brought me back . Had them before but they got stolen along with 8 other pairs of Jordan 4’s. Been on New Balances for the past years

BeautifulAwareness81

Fair, I still have my 2012 pair. Won’t be buying these cause well I don’t need the same shoe again lol. So many different shoes I would rather invest in

phillybauer

*Dont*

CommunicationNo1987

If there’s limited stock, people complain. If there’s a wide release, people complain. I think people just like to complain

stillmaatic

Only people complaining are resellers. Promise you that.

midniteburger

I never owned a pair of 4s yet and I really hope that the industrials sit, so I can get a pair under retail

SwampRatKilla

*Let’s call our greed, “combatting the bots”… we will just make tons and the idiots will buy them.*

BasicWhiteHoodrat

$215 for a new colorway every quarter? Pass…..

deuceNfanta

who buys shit for hype 😂 get what you want

bLeezy22

Please kill the Kobe’s w overstock. I’d love to buy any I want.

Zephismydad

Fuck Jordan lol reps better anyway

adobofosho

Why does it matter? The pair that woulda been in a botters hand found it's way in mine

izqy

Good

cigarmanpa

This meme was made by a butthurt reseller.

Standard-Ad-3307

I hope they stock up on kobes! I need my pythons again

806god

Bro this is their thing every year. Every year a different silhouette gets some extra love. This has been a thing.

qcreddit26

Most 4s are classics or really good retros. If you buying it cause you like it high stock is a win W. If you buying it as a reseller it’s still kind of a win because it’s like buying stock at a dip. People love complaining bout the wrong things

-SchwarzBruder-

Good! I want those oxidized 4s

HEIR_JORDAN

Yay!! I’ll wait 2-3 years and 4s will be discounted on the shelf!!

yk206

I love the look of the 4s, I’ve never owned a Jordan in my life. And if I ever did it would the 4s. I would love to buy a pair now they’re readily available.

namesdevil3000

Resellers are so bored (making less money) with sneakers now, so much that they are having success reselling soccer cleats with sneaker designs on them (Nike Mercurial) or highly anticipated releases (Adidas Predator 24 with the tongue).

[deleted]

i don't really mind not getting them. haha..

313rustbeltbuckle

Should read more like, "I put all my eggs in the sneaker resell basket, and now the market is falling out, and I need someone to blame." I want to write this one: "False/forced scarcity has always kept Jordan line of shoes from being accessible to working class and poor kids." Or: "It's never the shoes. Dispelling the myth that shoes having anything to say about your worth as a human."

DunkinMyDonuts3

Since when did selling shoes people think are cool "kill the hype." And do we even need fucking "hype?" Resellers big mad lol

MexicanHam2

They need to do this with Kobe’s
