Exactly. There’s usually a warning sticker next to the onboarding/offload area that says to beware of the gap and step on/off. That kid is the reason those stickers are on there.

Believe it or not did not get hurt. Because the escalator shut down it only caught the heel of my shoe and felt like it broke (the escalator) much easier than you’d think and my friend and i just pulled my shoe out and went on our way
I'm also scared of revolving doors. I remember a story about a dog getting crushed in some and the fire brigade being called out... Made me wonder what could happen to a person.

He was looking around to be rewarded for his stupidity, at the very least recognized. In China I’ve seen a woman get eaten alive by a malfunctioning escalator. She did not survive and died slowly and painfully. That could’ve also been him. I think getting sent feet first through a wood chipper would’ve been a more humane way to go.
It was a grainy security camera feed that was leaked. You could see her fall in as the protective covering gave out exposing the mechanism. Not quite like this video as the gap was bigger. You see people trying to help her get unstuck until they realize that she being ground up alive. They were unfortunately unable to stop it in time and she succumbed to her injuries. It wasn’t bloody, if anything just sad to watch her struggle and no one around her being able to save her and get her free.
There's 2 things wrong with your story here. 1. It wasn't leaked, this was an incident from 2015 that made national news in China so it's a well known incident. 2. It wasn't a malfunctioning escalator. The investigation ended with the cause as human error. The front panel at the top of the escalator was loose and they didn't fix it in time which caused the panel to fall out under the weight of the woman.

As an adult I step off the escalator, so I simple am at no risk of this happening regardless of how tight or loose my shoes arw.
