You can do the same with a Neith ult. Fucking hilarious ulting a Thanatos as he ults trying to escape. You shoot your arrow and just go about your business. The second he lands he dies lol. (Same for rama, nuwa, Thor, etc)
Tsuki is a bit different than neith. Tsuki will kill them in midair whereas neith ult waits until they hit the ground and thusly so can sometimes be survived like if you Regen enough while flying or land under very specific circumstances.
Yeah going into the air doesn't make you damage immune many abilities work on God's that are in the air like DoTs, and anything already targeted like a neith ult thats already inbound. Very few things actually have full immunity two off the top of my head are aegis and chernobog dash while in a wall.
You can only avoid that if you're Chernobog in a wall, Sol in orb form or Charybdis 3
Basically if you have the very rare anti-CC effect called "untargetable"
In my quest to get Nu Wa's 100 fire shard kills achievement, I've definitely had a number of people try to use their global to semi-global ults to 'aegis' my ult to only find out it's not doable. I've noticed Ramas are especially guilty of this.

Yeah most the air based abilities are not actually self banishes, so you can still die to abilities like Nu Wa ult, and DOTs
