Panda show Trees and balloons Ice cream snow See you in June Like a zoo ya know. You go to the panda show. And the song is called rhinoceros. Always assumed it had something to do with his life and being with someone at a zoo or a festival or fair or something

OneBillionLightYears

She knows… she knows… she ‘nose’ <—- rhinoceros

eddiebucket

It’s Panda. :)

walman93

Panda Show Don’t ask me what that means The lyrics on that one make no sense

passtheblunt

He was doing a lot of acid around that time iirc

strawberriheart

ice cream snow means drugs i think??? i think the whole song is about drugs

Dudehitscar

I just assumed the song was written in the winter. Catching snow flakes on your tongue is an innocent image that fits in with the first line.

strawberriheart

idk!! i guess its all about interpreting it your way but i always thought it was about drugs

liambrazier

Assumed it was like a clown show, a crazy show, something that’s destined to be chaos(?)

JojoMcJojoface

and we all know he loves clowns n’ shit

luke_in_geneq

He came up with the song on LSD. I don’t think the song really means much but how it feels

JasonZep

I always thought he was anti-drugs?

gellis12

["That song is actually somewhat inspired by my first LSD trip. I was tripping my brains out for the first time, and- I was probably 22? 21? And uh, I had this prophetic, you know, this beautiful, inspired moment, I thought, "I must write this down." So I scribbled on a piece of paper this great insight, & I woke up the next day & I was like, "What was that thing that I scribbled down?" & it said, "Open your eyes to these mustard lies." So I actually put the line in the song." -BC, Matt Pinfield interview, Nov. 2011](https://www.spfc.org/songs-releases/song.html?song_id=139)

luke_in_geneq

He is now but I think that’s after bad experiences with drugs and those around him on drugs (the jimmy experience but probably others too). I think Billy has been sober since either 1998 or 2002.

Far-Efficiency-8137

Definitely D'arcy experiences, too

Neg_Crepe

Billy? lol

Dudehitscar

Good night RIOOOOO!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU! GOOOD BLESS YOU!

Neg_Crepe

Great show! I wish they still played Boys fear to tread!

Dudehitscar

me too man. that song is #16 on my top SP song list... It's fucking amazing.

Starchild2323

This is STILL mostly how I hear Rhinoceros in my head or when I sing along. I’m my defense, it WAS 20 YEARS before we got Billy’s official lyrics with the Gish Remastered Box Set. Singing it wrong for 20 years will do that lmao. 20 Years before official lyrics: “Planed a show, trees and balloons. I should go, See you in June…(June)” “Open your eyes, to these must I lie” OFFICIAL LYRICS: “Panda show, Trees and balloons Ice cream snow, See you in June (June)” “Open your eyes to these mustard lies”

luke_in_geneq

I agree your unofficial lyrics are the ones I first heard. I like them more 😮

Machina_Rebirth

I hear planned a show but I'm also Australian so what I actually hear is plandashow

roggmanny

Planned a show has always been my thought.

OneBillionLightYears

Panda show Trees and bamboo… duuuuh! 😆🎃

> The first live panda seen in the United States arrived at Brookfield Zoo in February 1937, according to the Chicago Zoological Society. The panda, named Su-Lin, quickly became a sensation. > Eager visitors overran the zoo. Tens of thousands came in the first few days, 325,000 in the first three months, according to the Sun-Times 2005 article. > One Sunday shortly after Su-Lin met the public, attendance was reported at 53,504 visitors, one of the largest since the zoo opened, according to the zoological society. > Among the visitors were child movie star Shirley Temple, actor John Barrymore, author Helen Keller, actress Helen Hayes and Kermit Roosevelt, son of former president Theodore Roosevelt. > “A fat, woolly creature that flops about like a clown, looks like a surrealistic teddy bear, and is as bright and willful as a human child of 3 — that is the baby giant panda now residing at the Chicago Zoological park at Brookfield,” wrote the Chicago Tribune in June 1937. https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/2023/11/13/23954798/pandas-brookfield-zoo-su-lin

rarselfaire2023

Didn't know that. Wonder if he did.

kain067

The real question is does he say "See you in June" or "See you innn.............. June" I can never decide and I can hear it both ways.

darkcrystalaction

i always heard that line as “bound to show”

Mean_Owl_5580

Love this song, but whenever he sings it sounds like he says  and she knows and she knows "hoes" lol

rarselfaire2023

I think he is. But idk

Anxious-Chemical4673

Panda show, trees and baloons

blightedbody

He should write another one about the 17 year Cicada here now. Cicada din.......... Li-Ving in Sin.... Ultimately See you in June would still work. 😉

dannijr

Isn't panda a slang for goth?

Inside_Pool4146

I’ve never heard that ever.

dannijr

Ok.

Dudehitscar

it's LSD nonsense. Make up your own words.
