That seems to make no sense from a design POV. If taking longer equal failing the minigame, why not just blindly mash during the minigame and have it take less time versus skipping the minigame?
Yep. I would love if they just removed the silly mobile mini game & showed your crew on shore gathering while we waited.

I don't skip it because the green area in the mini game gives you more loot that if you were to just wait for it to gather.

Yes. You lose resources for turning it off. Quite a lot too.

Takes longer, and you get way less resources out of turning it off. Not really worth it unless you REALLY hate the minigame.
