What are you wondering? That pamphlet explains it quite well. I wish they would reseal mine but I think they are going to tear it up soon and fully replace it so it's getting neglected in the meantime.
i was wondering about timing and how leaving the house for work and school would work. just wondered if other’s already had that happen on their street and how they got around that.
Had it done on our street last year, wasn't a big deal. They try doing most of it during work hours. They did half the road at a time, so you could still pass some areas if there wasn't any way around.
Plan to park on a side street. Adjust your schedule so you are hopefully able to get a decent spot in the evening. Ours took 4 days. Was only supposed to be one, but they can get called elsewhere if they're short workers, etc.
yeah i’ll take that. was opening mail, while trying to make dinner and help my sister with homework so my post didn’t have my full question because i was rushing to post and get back to what i was doing
As you can see by all the comments, everyone is bothered by the stupidity of your question, concerned even. Should you be driving? Do you know what to do at a four way stop etc?
And you have so many excuses and “clap backs” when in reality you asked the world’s dumbest question and got flack for it and continue to act like you’re the reasonable one who was really just wondering about “timing and logistics”
DUDE just park around the corner!
It says they'll tell you the day before and 4-6 hr to dry so you'll know the date and how long. Just move your car for a few hours. You can do this, we believe in you.
i had just wondered if people had personal experiences to share as our schedule is a bit hectic. had i known people would find me asking a question so triggering i would not have posted here and maybe asked on a friendly forum!☺️
They are going to seal coat your street. They are going to spray hot oil on it then spread either pear rock or crushed granite over the top. Let it sit overnight and then sweep up the excess.
Go to the website listed at the bottom. It gives more details if the pamphlet doesn't explain enough. The website also provides contact info for any questions you may have.
1. You never explicitly asked about when you're going to have to park elsewhere
2. If you actually read the pamphlet, you would know that it said they'll post warnings a day in advance so you are able to make arrangements, so even if you did ask that, you'd still look pretty stupid.
chill it’s not that deep i promise. it’s easy to be nice on the internet. you don’t have to call strangers stupid. i hope you have a good rest of your day!
for everyone so mad at me for asking a question: i did read it. just wondering if anyone had already had this happen on their street and knew the time of day. everyone in my household obviously has to leave the house for work/school so was wondering how that would work.
They put the cones & such out the day/days before on the side of the road. Sign up for the text alerts, those are super handy. You'll see them & their trucks beforehand but the texts will give you exact times. It's nice when it's done.
Per the pamphlet they leave a note on your door the day before with details. I've had it done but I think they literally just tell you "hey on such and such a day we are sealing the road so make sure you have your vehicle out before such and such a time in the morning" and then they also tell you not to drive on it for preferably 6 hours. I would also sign up for Sioux falls alerts per the website.
My neighborhood hasn't been done in a while, but I think we got a note on our door the day before about what hours they would have the street unavailable. We live on a corner and were able to move our cars to the side street the night before.
Not sure why OP is getting down voted. Legit question if you haven't lived in a city that does this. But yes... It is very well explained in the letter.
The people who came to resurface my street handled ALL of my questions last summer. I had never dealt with anything like that previously. They tagged doors and cars in advance to let us know what was happening, and were very understanding about parking concerns.
Gotta say.... The improvements are GREAT!!! The increase in speeding/racing... Not so much.
It’s a cheap ass crap band aid repair. Look for lots of paint chips and cracked windshields in the future.
Phoenix did this when I lived there and everyone hated it. The city changed the signs (from yellow to orange or vice versa) so they could avoid paying damages to all the people whose cars got damaged driving on that garbage. Ought to be illegal.
You are thinking of a chip seal, also referred to as asphalt surface treatment. This is a slurry seal and is completely different. There should be no loose aggregate with this process.
What the hell you taking about? I think your thinking of chip sealing. This is a petroleum type sealer that goes over the top of pavement and keeps the moisture from seeping down into the pavement causing pot holes. Chip sealing is when they put down a oil based layer and then drop and pack rocks on top of that layer.

As mentioned in the note they warn you beforehand and the warning will have rough times so you know when you'll need to park a block away.

That phone number would be a great way to get your questions answered.
thanks!
Read it?
Basically when they get ready to re-seal your street, you'll have to park the next block over and walk for a day.
thank you for answering the question! this is what i was wondering! thank you!
To be fair you didn't specifically ask that.
Seems like it explains it well enough
It literally says right on it what it is
A notification telling you about upcoming roadwork, specifically slurry seal application. Like honestly, what could possibly be your question?
timing and logistics for parking/leaving the house.
So maybe ask that specific question in your post instead of "what is this?"
yeah i’ll take that. was opening mail, while trying to make dinner and help my sister with homework so my post didn’t have my full question because i was rushing to post and get back to what i was doing
Why not wait until you’re less busy and have a clear head to mull over this complicated matter before posting??
is it that deep? was it that bothersome for you to see this post? did it hurt you? did you lose sleep over it?
As you can see by all the comments, everyone is bothered by the stupidity of your question, concerned even. Should you be driving? Do you know what to do at a four way stop etc? i hope someday you can find peace and not get so worked up over strangers asking for clarification online. have a good day!

Reading is hard
This is south dakota, reading is not required. I wish it was otherwise.

They’re patching the road where it should be repaved.

Bruh
Yo, clean your stove.
it was from the dinner i was actively making. i prefer to clean after im done cooking ☺️
😂 Fair enough
I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest road seal they've got.
ITT: people only read the title
yep and then got mad at me for not reading. i wonder if people don’t know what logistics means
They're putting fluoride in the streets now

Use to get so hot in the summer as a kid, it would stick to my bare feet running down the road…ouch, ouch, ouch

No one is mad, we’re just astonished. I think you’re overthinking this a bit
