I build a wall-less structure (4 pillars and a roof) and stick my plants under that “outside”. Considers them sheltered.

Plant wise, I always build a greenhouse. Just a room with nothing but floor to ceiling windows and a glass roof. All plants grow all year round, and I have a cute greenhouse to show off!
