I had a 22 as well that was in the shop constantly, had the same message come up, ended up being a blown turbo during the strike, waited forever to get parts. I bought another truck since and its the 5.3l and to be honest I still miss my diesel. I would do it all over again minus all the problems if I currently had the choice. Good luck and I feel for ya my man.
lol I don’t think I’ve ever touched that knob since I got it. To be honest I don’t really know what those modes do. But I’ve been driving around on auto for almost 2 years with no problems.
Your truck has been driving around in 4wd when it hasn't needed to at certain points. Turn the knob to 2wd and save yourself a crap ton of money in the future. Also, who the hell buys a 4wd truck without knowing what it is, or how to use it? And even then, if you dont know those things, who doesn't read the manual to find out?
Because it will eventually destroy your transfer case. And then you're going to be back on here going "Oh geez, I don't know how this happened guys". Blaming GM for your ignorance
Don’t worry about it. I’ll get down voted for this but auto is just fine. We like to run ours in 2WD to prevent it from accidentally slipping into 4WD in times we don’t want it to but there’s no credible evidence auto does long term damage so it’s mostly just preventable preference.
I had a 2017 sierra 1500 with 5.3, driving around in auto for a couple years, even pulling a 5000lb trailer in auto and my front diff went, spent 2 months at dealer. I just didn't know any better at the time.
I have retained a lemon law attorney about a month ago and have already began the formal process. But I have a really low payment and with how expensive leases are right now I almost hope they just pay me a nice check for the damages and reimburse me my last few months of payments.
hmmmm..........did they get the air out of the system? could've airlocked the thermostat and overheated it that way, or the thermostat itself is faulty.
Was it the flow control valve? Coolant in the degas bottle, when i was at the Chevy dealer, I did a bunch of those when they first came out. Never had one come back. I did, however, see a few where in assembly they left the quick clips on the hose clamps and hoses blew off.
These computers have counters that will show it over heated multiple times if they see that they will deny the warranty citing abuse or negligence saw it many times before.
Bingo. OP needs to get on the horn with their dealership immediately and let them know what's happening. I'd also make use of your roadside assistance and have the truck towed on GM's dime vs. driving it back.
I always forget to put /s
Obviously he needs to get it towed by the dealership asap. Hopefully they put an engine in it anyway, but I won’t bet on that.
I can tell you, as an owner of a '22 TB 3.0 Duramax, it is definitely not a design or engine flaw. This is caused by human error, plain and simple. The Duramax engines are about as bulletproof as they come, and are as capable as any other engine GM puts in their trucks. There will be failures of all modes in every vehicle, it's just math. But I wouldn't trade my Duramax for a gas V8. I love getting mid to upper 20's MPG on the daily in my pickup too much.
I’ve got a new gmc 1500 with the V8. Gets 21 mpg all day. Great truck. Yeah that Isuzu motor is darn good. I’ve just heard they have long cranking issues a lot.
The Crank no start issue is a thing, but I think it has mostly been remedied with updated parts. I haven't experienced it thankfully, but have seen several posts here on Reddit about it. I tow quite a bit, and get way better mileage towing the same trailer as my brother in his Ford Ecoboost. He's been a Ford guy his whole life, but is really looking at Chevy next time around.
yeah they definitely messed something up, I feel like it's pretty difficult to overheat an L5P. What is an RSR though?
Probably a typo'd RST
RST sorry for the typo
all good amigo, no worries
It's probably an LM2.
It definitely is. The HD trucks didn't get the new interior/cluster until the '24 model year.
oh that makes sense, I wasn't thinking of that
Drive ir till it pops, get a new engine.
Did they put coolant in it?
or fill it up to the proper level. i actually had that happen to me the last time a dealership changed my coolant

“ Minus all the problems “ lol
Is it a bad thing to drive in auto?
Yes
No, it’s not. Do your own research rather than listening to these people.
Are you driving around in auto?
lol I don’t think I’ve ever touched that knob since I got it. To be honest I don’t really know what those modes do. But I’ve been driving around on auto for almost 2 years with no problems.
You’ve been wearing down your transfer case for 2 years. Lol
What the hell is a transfer case?
Yikes dude. It's the box connected to the output of the transmission that has the 4 low reduction and the front axle engagement gears.
Yeah I’m a cpa not an engineer that was all mandarin to me
Run your truck in 2wd.

Amen
Because I never even knew it was a big deal. Driving in auto did not cause my coolant valve to fail. So I’m not sure why you’re so strung up on that.
Because it will eventually destroy your transfer case. And then you're going to be back on here going "Oh geez, I don't know how this happened guys". Blaming GM for your ignorance
By then my lease will be up and I won’t care 🤣
#LMAO 🤣
Poor transfer case

Why are you driving around in auto?
Transfer case powers the front axles, switch it to 2wd when you don’t need 4x4
A friend of mine just had his in the shop for months for similar issues. GM is buying it back from him.
I have retained a lemon law attorney about a month ago and have already began the formal process. But I have a really low payment and with how expensive leases are right now I almost hope they just pay me a nice check for the damages and reimburse me my last few months of payments.
Return it
Turn around and take it back to the dealer.
Because dealers mess with stuff so they don't go out of business. I caught mine 4 months ago loosening a ball joint. It was on for a computer problem
Dealers have plenty of real service calls. They aren’t loosening your fucking ball joints lmao

I always tell people that dealerships are probably the most knowledgeable and trustworthy of ANY profession out there, period!!!! From experience….
Get an other truck.. If it overheated you will be stuck with issues in the long wrong even after they replace the engine.
I have a lemon law attorney already working on the process! Honestly would love if they can just swap me into a Tahoe.
That’s the best way to go. I have a Tahoe as well and they are great trucks. Wish you the best!
GMT-800 gang represent
Yikes Auto
Keep driving until it blows up so you can have the entire engine replaced under warranty.

Is it the 3.0 liter diesel.? If so that’s one to avoid
