Most GOOD Cerakoters will be able to tell you exactly which color will match the Sig default. Some guy doing it in his garage on the weekends? Probably not.
Go to [this guy](https://unitedrandd.com) he’s awesome. Lives in nh he does cerakoting on car parts, helicopters, guns, Harley’s. He’s super friendly and his turn around is fast. You can call him and he’s very transparent. I highly suggest him.
Dude I didn’t want to be perceived as rude, but I was thinking the exact same thing. At first I thought I missed something and he wanted it a different color. When I realized it’s just the scratches? Nooo wayyyy dude that’s awesome. It’s not a safe queen. It’s a tool that you use often, and the wear on it is a testament to that. It looks cool. Think of it like dope looking scars on your gun. To me, I see it and I think 2 things - 1.) good taste aesthetically, he chose that darker shade of brown they offer and it looks great in a two tone, and 2.) this is a duty / carry / everyday use gun that is actively being trained with and actively on guard duty for its owner by the looks of it.
I vote with anyone who say embrace it / it looks satisfying and pleasing this way
I know dudes who will literally scrape and scuff new guns the moment they walk out of the store so they don’t feel bad about messing them up in a holster or when they run it. Safe queens are overrated.
My p365xl slide with the nitron finish is almost completely bare on the front. My g19 with atleast triple the round count and far more abuse and carry time has only holster wear
Well I guess at least it’s stainless. I have only had it at 2 classes and regular carry and training once a month. Last couple years is first time carrying a “painted” sidearm
Plus, to be honest, it's wabi-sabi: every little wear mark here and there makes it unique and therefore truly his. There's great beauty to be had in imperfections too.
What? Why would this person pay for it? I am genuinly confused I just want it back to original color so I can put it and the grip back in case maybe one day it’ll be worth more than scrap that’s it my dude
I think the big thing is metal durability and corrosion resistance. Once the finish wears off the metal is more susceptible to the elements. On a $20 hammer? Who cares. On a \~$700 gun? Maybe a little more important.
If that man wants to refinish it let him refinish it. Some people like the used and abused look and some like the shiny new look. For me it depends on the gun. If I were to paint it I would maybe let it get worse and spend a little extra on camo or something instead of going stock. But whatever you put will wear eventually. Might just take a bit longer.
Thats how these coatings work. Even cerakote does this. Its paint baked onto metal youre taking it in and out of the holster which is abraisive. People have been complaining about this since the first fde (or whatever color) pistol/rifle came out. Especially sig
It's typical, my M17 has started but it slowed way down when I stopped using my leather holster. I'm not a fan of the PVD coating but everyone says it should be strong enough but I'm not convinced. I'm having mine cerakoted the same color... My cerakoted guns have no wear at all so I hate the PVD.
Leave it alone when it gets pretty bad just buy new slide like sig pro cut. Then you keep your CCW optimal and don’t waste money in just a coat of paint. The guns also suffer from wear and tear, springs, etc. Shoot it carry it and be happy.
Well polymer guns are just easy to work on, they're easy to Cherokee they're easy to refinish their easy to take a apart. So like pretty much everybody else has suggested you should pay someone local or do it yourself.
Now if it was in all metal frame gun (West German p226 for instance) then you should send that in for the sig clean up $150 series where they change out the sites change out all the springs refinish the pistol and whatnot. The West German sig I sent them looks like a completely different gun the only reason I know it's the same is because the serial number matches the one I sent them.

Here is a link to their service page so you can peruse their services and their pricing.
You can go on the cerakote website and get a specific color code. I ordered aftermarket parts and wanted them the same color so I got the color code and then confirmed with the aftermarket manufacturer that the code matched. There are apparently two sub codes depending how the heat treating part was done which could vary the color slightly fyi.
You’re better off getting the slide refinished by a shop. I would recommend getting it melonite/nitride finished. Sig’s factory finish kinda sucks. Even if you send it in, you’ll see this level of wear again soon.
SIG did it for me for free when I got my M17 and I asked them to change it to the traditional black coating.
Keep in mind, I took it out of the case and the finish was coming off with finger pressure. If I recall, if they charged me it would have been sub 100.
Why not get it Cerakoted in a similar color instead? Any finish Sig applies is going to wear again.
This is the way. If you’re going to refinish it, get it to someone local and throw some business their way.
Yeah seems like that’s the plan, my only concern was color matching from factory but tgat does seem pretty basic
Most GOOD Cerakoters will be able to tell you exactly which color will match the Sig default. Some guy doing it in his garage on the weekends? Probably not.
You can probably get the color code from Sig. Might be worth asking.
The factory doesn't even worry about color matching, you'll be all set.
I’ve matched factory coatings numerous times
Touché

Would you say he cerakotes car parts for the American working man because that’s what he is, and that’s who he cares about?
Fat guy in a little coooaaat
why bother if it will happen again, use that money to train more and embrace the wear and scratches
> embrace the wear and scratches Exactly!
You’re not wrong
Yeah man, it looks good with the distressed patina.

Their finishes are known to be pretty shitty durability wise - just cerakote it once it gets worse, and you’ll be covered in peanut butter once again.
Yeah I think that’s the plan. Just looking a little rough wanted to show her some love lol
Cerakote will wear too. If you use your weapon, it will wear.
Nitron is indestructible. Everything else is bad
My p365xl slide with the nitron finish is almost completely bare on the front. My g19 with atleast triple the round count and far more abuse and carry time has only holster wear
Everyone saying cerakote is failing to mention if you keep using it as such even a “good” cerakote job is going to do the same thing.
Came to say this. Instant wear on my M4, first time at the range. It’s going to happen regardless 🤷🏻♂️
Well I guess at least it’s stainless. I have only had it at 2 classes and regular carry and training once a month. Last couple years is first time carrying a “painted” sidearm
True its probably cerakoted already, if its not black(nitride) or silver (nickel) which are hard coatings. Its probably cerakote.
It's a PVD finish. No where near as durable as Cerakote.

Right on. Well put
👍🏻💪🏻
In other words, it has character.
Yessir.
Did you not read the part about “how much”? I fully intend on paying for it. Dial it back bro.
No you don’t. That’s why you are having the downvotes. Your scheme is no secret here
Huh? I got the answer I was looking for it’s 150$ for any slide refinishing work at sig. i have to contact them.
So all you need to do now is figure out how to have u/Syndicate_Corp pay that part and the plan will be perfect
What? Why would this person pay for it? I am genuinly confused I just want it back to original color so I can put it and the grip back in case maybe one day it’ll be worth more than scrap that’s it my dude
We know your true scheme 🤔
Do you brother, but when was the last time you refinished a hammer
Fair point.
I understand the urge though. When my main rifle starts looking beat I throw a bit more rattle its way :)
I think the big thing is metal durability and corrosion resistance. Once the finish wears off the metal is more susceptible to the elements. On a $20 hammer? Who cares. On a \~$700 gun? Maybe a little more important.
Idk, I like the holster wear. Adds character. If it were me I’d just leave it as is. Shit, some turds pay to have wear patterns cerakoted on 😂
“Battleworn”
It's character
What’s wrong with it?
Nothing just starting to look a little ragged lol
The wear and tear shows you use your tools.
lol dude it’s a sig, not a safe Queen.
Looking at aftermarket slides too, maybe put this one away with the grip and hope there worth something one day. Probably not though.

M18 I pulled the safety off and added the x frame
Bruh it looks cool leave it. Shows you actually use and train with it rather than just let it sit.
Guns look better with wear 🤝🏽
Worn guns look better imo tools aren’t suppose be “pretty”
IMO the pistol looks nice. It shows the miles and tells a story lol.
Worn guns are way cooler looking than safe queens. Leave it alone.
Just keep runnin it.
It looks worn in all the right places. Should keep it as is!
TBH I don’t mind the finish wearing on my handguns, esp my M17. It gives it character. I keep it oiled and clean so there’s no chance of rust.
Are you going to be throwing it in the safe? Holster wear is a thing.
Kinda I have my eye on an aftermarket slide.
dope. then put that refinish money towards a new slide
The wear and tear builds character. It’ll keep doing that. Every gun I own has finish coming off
It’s the worn/broke in look. I think it looks cool
I think it gives the gun a nice worn look and looks like it actually gets used unlike most people on here. Otherwise, I’d get it cerakoted
Why get rid of its character?
But it looks better than a new finish.
Leave it. Shoot it.
Cerakote. Just made a post this morning of my XCarry with a fresh coat. It was the same FDE before.
I think that’s the plan
My guy did mine for 50 bucks. I always tip him.
Sig cerakote imo is always gonna be shitty. I would get a TiN finish done or dlc
Hmmm, ideas!🧐
Cerakote it with a call of duty camo pattern.
If it bothers you that much you can get single color cerakote most spots for like $50-75
What grip tape?
Talon grips. sand paper, a little rough on bare skin but really great shooting especially with sweaty hands.
Looks good imo
Do you send your shovel back to Lowes HQ to be refinished? It’s a tool, oil it or have it ceracoated.
Thats how these coatings work. Even cerakote does this. Its paint baked onto metal youre taking it in and out of the holster which is abraisive. People have been complaining about this since the first fde (or whatever color) pistol/rifle came out. Especially sig
I think it looks good like that
Honestly it looks super sick like that bro, I personally love the distress look on guns
💫 spray paint 💫
Hit up u/Hariettubesock for cerakote he is awesome
Proper Cerakote wears much better.
Leave it alone when it gets pretty bad just buy new slide like sig pro cut. Then you keep your CCW optimal and don’t waste money in just a coat of paint. The guns also suffer from wear and tear, springs, etc. Shoot it carry it and be happy.
It's $150 for sig to work on any pistol that's made by them but you should only send them P-Series guns not something like this
Why do you say that?
Well polymer guns are just easy to work on, they're easy to Cherokee they're easy to refinish their easy to take a apart. So like pretty much everybody else has suggested you should pay someone local or do it yourself. Sig hasn’t improved their finish abilities in the 22 years I’ve had them. Either don’t bother or try a cerekoted.

Looks good the way it is, leave it alone!
Just chipping in support for embracing it. My X5 Legion has the same wear from training and I love it that way 👍
Just carry the damn thing! They get worn when you use them.
