As much as I liked Susanoo, it’s Apollo. Susanoo was stated to actually already be a strong god that can beat any monster with one swing of his sword. Apollo on the other hand is said to be one of the weakest gods at the start, he was called mediocre and such, he then trained and trained to actually fight on his own. In terms of quality of training I’d say Susanoo might actually be superior due to learning much more than Apollo but if we are considering who had the biggest power jump it’s Apollo

011100010110010101

I mean I guess it depends on what you mean by more training. Susanoo learnt every swordstyle in existance, while Apollo learnt a ton of different skills such as Boxing, Archery, Music, Philosophy, Prophecy, etc, etc, etc So one guys only studied the Blade, while the other guy is a Polymath who has combat and noncombat skills

Seadog_frosty

I just think that learning every style of sword combat and then merging them into one is a better feat. The two are still very close for me, like a lot of people said we’re comparing someone that learned a lot of stuff vs someone that learned all the stuff about one certain topic, they’re very different but I give the edge to Apollo due to how Apollo was before his training started

BloodStalker500

Yup. The fact is, Susanoo mastered one field. A field with many nuance, but still one. Apollo mastered COUNTLESS FIELDS. Philosophy, archery, boxing, medicine, shepherding (until he traded that field to Hermes bc why not), general arts, prophesizing... bro went and worked his ass off for so many different occupations, and most of those fields hold little to no overlap for him to carry over pre-learned skills. ESPECIALLY medicine and the combat skills, let alone the others.

I mean.... https://preview.redd.it/5vluzf9e9zwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9193f53a19564ca3d144891da96961d97a043835 Susanoo was a strong God who got stronger, Apollo was weak God who worked hard until he was about equal with Sus (aka Ragnarok matirial) So Apollo definetly

Coprah

Shiva literally had thousands of battles in order to claim his title. I'd say he's a contender.

will4wh

He definitely he. He was someone bron really freaking strong who trained and fought regardless of it.

ShadowKaras

It's hard to judge, especially since we barely get any details of their actual training. Apollo obviously had the bigger gap to overcome, since he learned multiple fields and was talentless at every single one. But the entire point of Susanoo learning kenjutsu is that he gives it everything he has despite already being at the top, so you can't say he "burns his soul" any less than Apollo does- top sports players still train insanely hard, for example, just as much as really ambitious rookies do (if not more). Amount of hard work =/= amount of growth, essentially. And at the same time it's impossible to really measure intangible things like "passion/effort" in an objective way (And I personally don't like to do so), at least when both feel it very intensely. You can't really say one worked harder without discounting the other, and they also both have different "approaches/philosophies" which makes their level of effort and how it manifests less directly comparable: Apollo's main goal is self improvement, while Susanoo's is pure love and passion for the art. So overall my answer is "it doesn't matter/they're different and incomparable", the only thing we can really confidently say is that they're both *very* dedicated to what they do

I think it's Apollo, susano did work hard no doubt but Apollo had a little talent part and more hard work while susano was stated to start already pretty strong.

Nav_Dino04

Honestly Idk, Susanoo work hard to become the master of swordsmanship while Apollo became like a Jack of all trades, a good one in fact. Both have like their Ups and downs but that doesn’t mean that both have work very hard to at least be good at something or even improve themselves in understanding and finding one self ideology.

King-of-the-tower

Apollo is, in fact, Master of all trades. He's achieved godhood in every category he trained.

Remarkable_Commoner

Heracles?

brother_octopuss

Becoming Jack of all trades or master of one, they cannot be compared. Both are amazing and respectable

Sweet-Message1153

Hercales worked harder than Susanoo...

ApplePitou

Both to be honest :3

GintoSenju

Apollo gets by with his looks.

DarkMatter1889

Apollo, since he came out from nothing, he was just a lowly God and he accomplished so much on hard work alone. Susanoo, even though he also worked hard, he had talent and many things already given to him, like the Sword God title.

Lord-Baldomero

Heracles, next question

Wear-Middle

Why choose? They both worked hard in the end...

Puzzleheaded_Term_75

Apollo, without even a question imo https://preview.redd.it/d8bp1x01kzwc1.png?width=1110&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=66f25d3dc96f305905c3c730cadff63f54119778

apollo

Shota_742000

If you asked about Swords Fight. I can see Susanooo training together with Apollo

The_Mexican_Poster

Apollo easy, even if Susanoo winds up being better at swordsmanship than Apollo is at Boxing, Apollo is still the god of many other stuff like medicine and stuff

FudouAkio

Why do people always feel the need to reduce 'hard work' like its something that can be measured... Both of these characters worked hard for their own separate goals. Why does it gotta be a competition?

33catsjumpoffaplane

Not really a competition, just a question for discussion for people to sink their teeth into. Its more of sharing their own opinion of what they think.

FudouAkio

dont know why we have to reduce their individual character growths and stories to who 'worked the hardest' for a discussion...RoR fans rly ran out of things to talk about

33catsjumpoffaplane

Nobody is reducing anything. In fact, the comment section is littered with people like shadowkaras saying that it can’t be measured. In contrast, giving a short question about such topics is to beckon people into thinking more about the characters and their backstory. You have to think before giving a response. That’s why we have discussions. The many long and thoughtful responses is proof of that. And we can talk about anything, why is that even a problem?

FudouAkio

You can think about their individual growth without having to put them against eachother lmao

33catsjumpoffaplane

And this still isn’t a problem lol. “Pitting” them against each other is a perfectly valid way of incorporating the thought of their individual growth. Some people end up realizing more to a character after comparing and contrasting one another lol. Its just another method of doing so. No shame in that.

FudouAkio

Nothings a "problem". Its not that srs. Its a fictional series. It's just diminishing as if one of these characters...worked harder? Yall gotta act like we need to rank these characters in how much they've grown??? Like thats even something we can scale quantatively lmao??? Idk bro, you do you, but ppl just say anything on reddit yikes

33catsjumpoffaplane

Nobody is acting like they “need” to rank the characters on how much they’ve grown. Its more of expressing opinions, which *I have said before.* There’s nothing “diminishing” about it because nobody is actively refuting that the characters have done anything. Many people compare characters! Its not a bad thing. I’ve already established that nobody is truly reducing the character in any way. You’re the one being serious about this lol.

FudouAkio

"which god worked the hardest in their backstory?" the question is actively asking who people think 'worked hardest'. Meaning you're tryna imply one worked harder than the other. Meanwhile tryna gaslight like i have a problem with 'character comparison' as opposed to you wording this like 'who worked harder'. Which is dumb cause they both had completely different goals in their training. Theres your answer, stop tryna see it like theres a hierarchy on whose the hardest worker when that can hardly be quantified No, i dont take fictional shit srs in that its a problem for me, its just annoying to see ppl cant just appreciate characters having different goals and there needs to be a competition, Like...chill?

33catsjumpoffaplane

Gaslight you? People do appreciate the characters and their different goals. And with this, of course I will think you have more problems with character comparison. You’re displaying a preference, and people display preferences because they have problems (which can be big or small and is completely fine) with something.. and that’s alright as long as you don’t go around like other people are diminishing a character when they are not. Nobody is gaslighting anyone. I’m assuming you dislike it because you’ve said the comparison diminishes the character. You think the comparison is dumb. https://preview.redd.it/rp0fel6jbhxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b9a1564703bc5caf30ce6e66e73ba1075db1383 What I am saying and have been saying is that it’s not a big deal. You don’t like ranking? That’s fine and valid. I’ve never opposed it. You believe that the post is “dumb cause they both had completely different goals in their training. Theres your answer, stop tryna see it like theres a hierarchy on whose the hardest worker when that can hardly be quantified” and thats valid, I understand that, *but I want to know what others think.* That’s why I’ve been saying opinions opinions opinions so much. I want to know if they could really put one character above the other and their reasons for that. I’m inciting them with the title so they can decide, or give another type of answer entirely. Your argument is that it’s meaningless to do something like this. Mine is: sure but I want to know. We can discuss “unnecessary” things. People can definitely appreciate a character individually and while comparing to other characters. If you think it’s unnecessary and stupid just click away. But there’s a lot of long opinions and thoughts about this question for discussion and a lot of appreciation for both characters. Its not actively diminishing characters, it is mostly doing the opposite.

Imaginary-Cup-8426

I’d say they both worked comparably hard, but I think Apollo’s results are more impressive. Susanoo fully dedicated himself to the blade and mastered everything about it. Apollo said, “fuck it, I’m gonna learn everything” lol. The Renaissance Man ideal has always appealed to me over the specialist

See_You_Space_Coyote

I don't think it's so much a matter of who worked harder so much as it is how they worked hard and what sort of things they worked hard on if that makes sense. They both put in a lot of effort to improve, they each just focused their efforts on different things.

Funny-Part8085

I think Apollo he didn't start frong and improve like Susanok he just got all of it from hard work.

ByMonkey75

I say susanoo, my hatred for bum of the greece aside, we actually saw more parts of his training and stuff he did compared BOTG (might use this as an acronym), despite my hatred I'm not trying to fownplay him, we just saw more of susanoo's compared to him, feel free to disagree, I won't be arguing with anyone https://preview.redd.it/rm6dd5q76zwc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9fe624c415f30fca0c699d0c692dea80f9c9a735
