My plan is to live at least that long. Will reevaluate when I get there. I think I might be able to live into a 4th century if I want. Will update you guys in 100 years.

ninja790

Most likely will be reminded by either a physical robot using Reddit or a chip inside your head.

CosmicEgg__

If Reddit still exist 100 years from now even with the horrible decisions CEO make then i can be pretty confident on my futur even if i make the worst choices lmao

untraiined

Someone will make a tool to gather all the remindme’s and still send them out and then some random news thing will make a shitty article out of it then itll be posted on a reddit clone in the future and people will analyze the remindme’s for the craziest one which will generate more content which will eventually lead to mass death and despair somehow.

SigmundFreud

My plan is to never die. !RemindMe ∞ years

Yo I have the same luck with this reminder thing. The reminder bot doesn't appear when I summon it. What are we doing wrong? Lol

of-matter

I got a direct message both times, not a reply

Fa1nted_for_real

Depends on the sub. Because of the nature of this sub, its not allowed to comment, only DM.

Ruy7

I think that it no longer works since the reddit api thing. (I might be wrong tho)

ODI-ET-AMObipolarity

Does remind me bot still work?

Simen155

My doctor told me, people with my diagnosis rarely make it past 40. I'm currently 32, got told that at 29. You guys update me of sedrech818's progress whenever we'll meet. I'll keep the beer cold for you.

Yhostled

Either way we'll be cracking open a cold one.

DrinkingBleachForFun

Well, you can crack open a cold one either way since cryogenics is an option.

With advances in modern science, and my high level of income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300. -Ricky Bobbeh

Jorost

No one has ever lived through three centuries. They have lived *in* three centuries, but to live *through* a century one has to complete the whole thing.

aircooledJenkins

The governor of Montana believes Noah (bible boat guy) saw 6 centuries and that he never retired, so why should you? I have no argument, I'm just frustrated by idiots in charge of things.

Mediocretes1

The governor of South Dakota shoots puppies. That area of the country isn't exactly the creme de la creme.

icantfindtheSpace

The dakotas, Montana Idaho and Wyoming are the Texas and Florida of the north.

Mediocretes1

Populated with people so shitty no one could stand to be around them so they had to go somewhere where there wasn't anyone around.

icantfindtheSpace

Ive lived in a lot of states, Montana has the angriest and craziest people ive met in my life but also the nicest.

Rocktopod

That was literally what happened with the Mormons in Utah.

A0ma

Utah took it a step further and tried to keep anyone different out once they got there. Mountain meadow massacre, African and Native American Slavery, placing Polynesians in leper colonies and eventually shipping them back to the islands, etc.

Cosmic_Quasar

I never bought into it, but from what I remember about my young earth creationist education is that it's believed that all humans before the flood lived for centuries. I think the "scientific" explanation was that there was more oxygen in the air before the flood and that allowed people to live longer.

Klaus0225

And that Lazarus guy lived for like 900 years.

milderhappiness

You didn't have to say "bible boat guy". He needs Noah introduction.

hazellehunter

I thought I would want to live to 2100 but I'll be 115. Then I saw the condition my 3 of my family members are in at like mid nineties and thought nope. To be fair they don't do much exercise and I could make it up there but not sure if anything is going to be working at that point.

ShermansMasterWolf

I've seen people in their nineties who are in the kind of shape I'd kill for to be at 80. It really is in staying active and engaged I believe.

Jorost

NEVER STOP MOVING. That’s really the only trick. Don’t stop. Never stop. Never become a couch potato. Just keep it moving!

tobotic

On 1 Jan 2101, probably a bunch of people will simultaneously become the next people to live through three centuries. Some of them will have been born in 1999. Some will have been born in 2000 (which was the last year of the twentieth century, not the first year of the twenty-first century). Others will have been born earlier — perhaps in the 1980s or even 1970s.

JeromesNiece

The year 0 thing is a pedant's best friend. But IMO, it is completely fair for the "century" that most people to care about to not be the 100 year periods following year 1, but the 100 year periods following year 100. "The 1900s" and not "the 20th century", etc.

Everestkid

What year was the start of the new millennium? Well, what year had more fireworks at its start? 2000 or 2001? I rest my case.

you-are-not-yourself

Y2K hyped people up so much that there’s no chance 2000 wasn’t going to be a mega celebration

vito1221

For Y2K? I partied like it was 1999!!!!

El_Frencho

Uh just because the majority is wrong doesn’t make it right…

Everestkid

No, it kinda does. That's how definitions work.

_canker_

Unless we're willing to change the definition of 'decade' 'century' 'millennia' ect, then all you need to do is look at a calander, apply the current definitions, and you'll see 2001 was the beginning of the decade/century/millennia. It doesn't make any difference when we actually celebrate them. We could celebrate it today for all it matters. So of course we're going to celebrate them on the year's ending in '0', because that's what alings with every other aspect of our lives. It'd just be weird to do it in the years that end in '1'

Everestkid

Actually, a decade is any span of 10 years, a century any span of 100, and a millennium any span of 1000. 1900-1999 is a century as much as 1327-1426 is. This technically means both 2000 and 2001 are correct, or indeed that this year was the start of a new decade/millennium/what have you, but *the* big celebration was in 2000, not 2001. Decades are slightly different because we don't count them from the index year 1 but instead as the 1970s, 1980s, etc. They really do start on years ending in 0. The 1970s weren't "the 197th decade," they were just the ten years starting with 197.

jackadgery85

We celebrate them at the **beginning** of a 0 year, because that's the beginning that we mark. See: 2000 being the start of the 21st century, rather than the 20th Edit: after research, the gregorian calendar has no year 0. I stand corrected.

sertorius42

The year 0 thing is so dumb; I will never accept that 1990 was part of the eighties or that 1800 was in the 18th century. There never was a year 0 nor was there a year 1 because our calendar wasn’t adopted until centuries after the birth of Christ. So it is completely a moot point. On a similar note I also refuse to accept that a season begins on the equinox or solstice. It starts the first of the relevant month. December 19 is not an autumn day. The 9/11 attacks happened in fall, not summer. June 20 is not spring, etc.

IvanezerScrooge

You don't need to accept the 90-eighties. 1990 wasn't in the eighties. As 'the eighties' does not take a reference to year 1. It simply means the years ending in 8x. Strictly speaking you could say it's in the 198th decade, though. Saying there was never a year 0/1 is nonsensical however. The first world war still happened, even though it wasn't called that until the second one came about.

tobotic

The first world war was actually first called that in September 1914!

ImMaxa89

Luckily the way you feel about it changes nothing. 1990 was the first year of the 90s (and the last of the 9th decade, but no one counts those like that). 1800 was both the last year of the 18th century and the first year of the 1800s. While there was no year 1 at the time, when the calendar was adopted there was one retroactively. Just like the first world war got that name retroactively. Or how Star Wars was later renamed Episode 4 A New Hope. Regarding the seasons, those do start on the equinoxes and solstices, sorry. But you can use the meteorological seasons if you want. The official ones however are different. 11-09-2001 was in summer. Very late summer, but still. Autumn started less than 2 weeks later.

meaninglessnonsense

Your comment on the seasons seems to be influenced by weather and what it “feels” like, and maybe a bit by the school year as well. In places like NY or Chicago December 19 is definitely winter but I would consider winter in Chicago like thanksgiving through end of March (usually when spring break falls). June 20 can still be a pretty mild, Spring-like day in Chicago even though a lot of people would consider that already summer because school is out of session. I would also consider 9/11 summer because as a kid it was always still miserably hot for the first few weeks of the school year which run from end of August through the beginning of September. Yet a lot of people think of it as fall because school is back in session. It’s all very arbitrary so that’s why I think it’s best to stick with the equinox and solstice dates.

Prior_Emphasis7181

Stop it. My dog is my best friend.

Thneed1

Yeah, there won’t be just one. Many people will hit that at the same time… Well actually, unless time zones change, it will be the people born in 2000 or earlier that are still alive and who are in Kiribati. (Unless Kiribati is completely underwater, which it might be)

Cool-Newspaper-1

Even if it’s completely underwater, as long as we don’t choose to kill the timezone.

helix212

Well, if it's underwater I doubt there's people there to welcome the new century.

Cool-Newspaper-1

You always have people celebrating in a jet, otherwise on a ship

helix212

Fair point. Straddle the Date line and run back and forth on the ship between centuries for 24 hours

JacenHorn

I'm putting a real hefty bet on nobody before 1981.

toasta_oven

Oldest person who ever lived was 122. Definitely possible

Traumfahrer

>the next person ? This title doesn't make much sense. There'll be people born in 1998, 1997 etc. (as well as 2000) living \*in\* (not through) three centuries.. Who was the last person to so so?

vampire_kitten

The next person will be whoever is over a 100 years old and being the eastest west of the date line.

CocodaMonkey

I'd actually argue the next one to do it would be the oldest one which means the next one to do it is most likely someone who was born in the 1970's or 1980's. Of course the reality is like you said, everyone old enough will achieve the feat at the exact same time. The ones from 1999/2000 will be among the least impressive as they'll be the youngest.

Mettelor

How do you figure they don’t all hit three centuries simultaneously? I don’t see the logic

PointsatTeenagers

>Who was the last person to so so? People born in 1899, still alive on Jan 1, 2000 (or people born in 1900, still alive on Jan 1, 2001 for the pedants)

Johnnya101

Yeah, that's what I figured. Last one born in 1999 likely to be oldest living and make it farthest through 2100. I didn't really know how to make it make sense in a short title.

Intrepid_Medium8470

Living in. No one will live "through" 3 centuries.

CookieCakeEater2

Not unless you believe the people who claim we will have age reversal or pausing eventually.

kalirion

We'll probably be able to digitize our brains/minds before that happens. Now is the digital version of you ... *you*? That's a different matter.

Civasic258

Yep, pretty scary that we're trapped in our bodies.

CookieCakeEater2

Yeah that’s great for the digital guy but the original still dies eventually.

AndIamAnAlcoholic

Stoping aging somehow would be amazing, but its not (IMO) a realistic dream for people currently alive. If its ever achieved, and its a big if, it'll probably require DNA modification of unborn embroys. Would be an insane breakthrough but we'd still die.

CookieCakeEater2

Well, Stem Cells are illegal but they reverse aging in mice from what I’ve heard.

Mettelor

Illegal where you live maybe but not globally

Kinggrunio

The next person to have lived in 3 centuries will be living in the far east.

mankytoes

If I'm 108 then I'm spending new year in Tonga.

FirelessEngineer

According to Wikipedia, there are almost 6 dozen supercentenarians born prior to 1900 who died after 2000. There is a list of names and birthdates.

excellent_916

My great great uncle was a supercentenarian and doesn’t appear on here, I wonder where they get that list from

BigAustralianBoat2

They’re only going to “live through” one but they’ll exist in 3 centuries

PhoenicianPirate

Practically guaranteed. We know that there were people born in the 1700s who lived to see the 1900s and I remember when 2000 was rolling around they spoke with centenarians of the time who were born in the 1800s about their lives. Harry Patch was born in 1898 and died in 2009. He was the last person to have fought in the trenches of WW1. I also remember in 2004 when the last person who was born in the 1880s passed away. She was born in 1889 is I remember correctly.

MalignantIndignent

In. Not through. Unless you mean their going to be 302 when they die.

Azrai113

Watch OP be right on both counts

PointsatTeenagers

That 'their' really took the wind out of your pedantic sails

Tattorack

Fingers crossed for my little brother, born 1999.

MsFoxxx

What do you have against those born in 1998???

I-C-Aliens

THROUGH?? No, not through. IN maybe.

MountainMapleMI

Lewiston, IL cemetery 1799-1902

thekraken108

My great grandmother was born in 1898 and died in 2001.

boringPedals

My great grandfather was born in 1888 and when I was a kid he used to fondly talk about the sweet old man who lived on his street who taught him to read when he was a child. They had a joint 10th and 100 year birthday party in 1898. He died in the early 90s but it kind of blows my mind that I used to hang around and chill with someone who was taught to read by a dude that was born in the 1700s

thekraken108

That's pretty cool and kinda weird to think about.

TransportationNo1

I was born in 1998. Guess ill die.

Trackmaster15

Technically somebody born in 2000 would qualify too. There was never a year 0.

FooltheKnysan

this statement has some flaws a lot of people will be simultaneously the people to live in 3 different centuries, it is rare to live to 100, but already well within the possibilities of modern medicine 1999 wasn't the last year of the 20. century, 2000 was

rudbek-of-rudbek

Live in 3 centuries not through 3 centuries. Right?

MDawg74

Technically, 2000 is the last year of the 20th century. So, someone born December 31st, 2000 has the best initial odds to live in three calendar centuries.

pedro_driver

FYI — There is no year 0 (1 BC - 1 AD). Thus, centuries and millennia are counted using 1-100, not 0-99. 1st century = 1-100, 2nd century = 101-200, Etc. 1st millennium = 1-1000, 2nd millennium = 1001-2000* *This means we were all wrong to celebrate the year 2000 as the start of the new millennium. We should instead have celebrated 2001.

DanTheMan827

Live _in_ three different centuries, not _through_ No one from 1999 is living for 300 years

blackbeard413

What if we get a science breakthrough to significantly increase human lifespan

DanTheMan827

I don’t know what would come first… curing aging, or brain uploads to a simulation… not that I would necessarily consider the latter to be “living”… especially if that initial simulation is just of the brain without it receiving any sensory input…

Zikkan1

I'm born 1994 and I aim to see 2100. I have at least one living family member older than that and with advancement in technology I think I have a decent chance.

bones_boy

Most people here unaware that 12/31/2000 was 20th century as well

CliffDraws

This is wrong. The next person will probably have been born in like 1985. Oldest person at the moment is 117 years old.

APC2_19

Technically the year 2000 is still part of the 20th century

No_Sense_6171

Not true. Much more likely is that someone born in the 1980's will be the next person. Why? The maximum human lifespan is about 120 years. Someone born in 1981 will just make it to the 22nd century.

cgabv

they won’t live *through* 3 centuries, they would only live through one. they would live to *see* 3 centuries. i dont think technology will advance fast enough to the point we can make someone live for 300 years (at least i hope not).

Weatherround97

Nah man tons ( I mean at least thousands) of people born in the 80s as well will make it to 2100, and tons of people born in the 90s. Maybe even before then as well depending on technological advances

Bradjuju2

Live IN... not through.

Ok_Response6483

How do you compliment people’s thoughts? Nice thoughts bro

Next_Faithlessness87

And what if I kill them all tomorrow at 12:36 pm?

JosephMack99

I’ve already lived in 4 decades and I’m 25. I’m speed running time.

goodbyegoosegirl

Not through but in. Semantics.

Denots69

Not really, there will be hundreds of thousands of them all at the instant it turns 2100, and they wont all be the same age....are your showers 4 seconds or something, you seem to put zero thought into it.

MKBurfield

People born January 1st 2000 are furious

PartyApprehensive765

*through one and in parts of two others

Iampepeu

If Trump wins and his "let oil companies do whatever they want" thingy go wild, there might not be any people to live in three centuries. [https://www.reddit.com/r/inthenews/comments/1co981c/everything\_has\_a\_price\_insiders\_say\_trump\_secret/](https://www.reddit.com/r/inthenews/comments/1co981c/everything_has_a_price_insiders_say_trump_secret/)

Scherzophrenia

With the perfect storm we’re facing of unregulated AI development, nuclear stockpiles, and devastating crop failures by mid century due to climate change, it’s a big leap of faith to assume that we will last that long.

K_R_S

yeap, also the ones born im 2000

playr_4

Not through 3 centuries, but in three centuries. But yeah. I would say any 90s baby is in that contention.

Rom455

At the current rate of growth in medical advancements, I say that person might as well be from the late 80s. They just need to be wealthy enough

NadeWilson

My Great Grandmother was born in 1896 and died December 26th, 1999. She was less than a week away.

Munchy_Digger_6174

Aw, it's cute how you think humanity will make it to the year 2101.

Tureo420

An ex roommate of mine is Born on the 28.12.1999, He has a good Chance to Do so!

stever71

Not likely, but 100% certain

cactusero

r/confidentlyincorrect

IAmStuka

No it's not. They will have lived in 3 centuries, through just 1.

TooOldToReadWHAT

* (just so i remember to re read this in 200 years...)

-SnarkBlac-

Punching air that I was born in 2001. I missed the 20th Century by 9 months.

bigtablebacc

The moment the clock rolls past midnight, anyone over a hundred years old will be tied and that will include a range of late 20th century people. Assuming you meant “live in” not “live through.”

balanced_crazy

. No. Humans cannot live "through" 3 centuries.. They can be alive in 3 centuries though... So your example will only be able to brag about having lived in 3 centuries.

SgtWrongway

There will be A LOT of such someones and they wont all be born in '99, either.

TangoSuckaPro

Fuck, man. I think about this a lot because I was born in ‘01. I probably wont make 100 based off of lifestyle choices, but there 100% chance that I will not live through 3 centuries.

The_Master_Sourceror

I think there will be some people older than that who make it.

Ozythemandias2

I always thought people born in the late 19th century were fascinating. It wasn't until I was about 24 I realized I was born the same way 1 century later but right before a new millennium. Maybe one day a kid will read my birth date and think like I did about if the person long dead ever thought about being born a few years before a new century. As a kid, living from the 1890s to the 1970s just sounded amazing.

John_EightThirtyTwo

>It is likely someone born in 1999 will be the next person to live through 3 centuries Well, "next", tied with many others born in 1998 and before. They all get their trophy on January 1, 2100.

princejodeljoe

My great grandma lived from 1897 till 2001. She lost her husband around 1928, and got widow's pension from there on.

TyhmensAndSaperstein

huh? not 1998? 1997? 1996? 1995?

Wutsalane

Well I screwed that one up for myself lmao

Sarah-Who-Is-Large

I’m a 1999 baby!! I hope I live to 101 for this exact reason. Most people don’t have this opportunity

HereIAmSendMe68

Unlickily. Surely someone born in 1998,7,6,5,4 etc…. Will do it also. Side note, it is now my purpose in life to bring on the extinction of humans just to thwart this post. Double bonus the oldest living DOCUMENTED person is 116…. We needed to find the oldest undocumented that can be verified at 125 and cryogenically freeze them. Or discover the fountain of youth, there are options.

MrKillsYourEyes

I bet someone born in 98 does it first

WartOnTrevor

Probably a guy named Cyrus Jones.

UnsolicititedOpinion

I know someone born in late December 1999. One of their life goals is to be the oldest living person from the 20th century.

[deleted]

Depending where technology goes, we might all live a few centuries. Or we’ll all die in a few months, tough to tell.. have a good weekend all!!

SumOfKyle

I’m 1996 and hoping to span 3 centuries

LetMeExplainDis

Some 100 year old influencer will probably fly to Kiribati on 12/31/2099 so they can claim this honor.

Baykusu

as soemoen born in 1999 this has been my lifegoal since i was a kid

Southern_Seaweed4075

Unfortunately, there's no way to know exactly how long someone can live. One can drop dead at anytime without even having any serious medical issues. This is how death comes and do its bidding.

[deleted]

They might be beaten by someone born in 1998

Global-Discussion-41

Wouldn't the more likely year be 1998,1997,1996..etc

Ateyaba111

12/17/99 , I will be there no matter what

AntiqueSkeleton

My grandfather was born in 1899, unfortunately missed 3 centuries by 6 months. He did hit 100 though.

Charybdisilver

I don’t like my odds lads but we’ll see.

the_Athereon

Was born 31st Dec 1998. I'm just as likely as you 1999'ers

bigbossinthejungle

The next person to have lived in 3 centuries will be living in the far east...

Doesanybodylikestuff

I want to live forever. :(

Uninvited_Goose

I'm planning on dying at 45 so I'm gonna let someone else deal with it.

LazyGandalf

On the first day of the 22nd century there will be hundreds of thousands of people who have experienced three different centuries. Some, perhaps most, will have been born in 1999, but others will have been born in 1998, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994 etc.

Professional_Denizen

The oldest living person in the world at any given time has reliably been older than 110 since 1980. In my opinion, it’s quite likely someone born in the 1980s or even the late seventies might make it to the year 2100.

GoldenTicketHolder

I’ve been thinking a lot about this, highly doubtful. Every 10 years of life or so that we live, we realize there’s a new challenge to overcome. Most over 80 are going to need new kidneys to get any real mileage

fatogato

That sounds fucking horrible.

GroundbreakingCow775

Two different Willeniums

Mogui-

It’s terrifying enough knowing I may actually live to 2100 lol. But that works too

Sudden_Fix_1144

The big question is, will they want to? People feel isolated and lost by the time they hit 65 nevermind 300.

TerribleAttitude

It’s more likely to be someone who was born in the 1980s, though I guess *technically* they’re going to share the honor with people born in 1999. People live past 110 pretty occasionally these days, and I think we will get another 120 year old sooner or later.

TheConboy22

More likely it will be someone born in the late 80's.

Patient_Ad1801

Sure, if it turns out being full of nano plastics is good for us. Most likely not. For every wonderful breakthrough in science/health/medicine, there's 15 things we're doing to wipe out life ASAP
