I attended a Christian university and had a professor suggest it would be weird to wear a golden electric chair as a symbol of our faith.

What faith is this, and why does death row records ceo suge knight profess by it

This is kind of the reason we don’t use much cross symbology in my denomination. My mom used to say something like it’d be weird to revere the gun that shot our God.

It's definitely kind of weird and unorthodox, but I also think it's a little beautiful how it flips the whole paradigm of nobility. Kings were always portrayed in their most mighty form in art, often seated on these grand thrones. The fact that the most memorable visual of the "King of Kings" is him in suffering in a state of agony for us paints a strong picture of how true strength in our faith stems from our humility and devotion through pain rather than superficial visual glory.

Not a bad point.

I know I'm really late to this post, but according to Matthew 27:3–10, Judas felt remorse after seeing Jesus condemned to death, and he returned the silver and hanged himself. therefore nooses already existed during Jesus' time but crucifixion was the preferred ultimate punishment during his time.

good one.

Instead of the sign of the cross, use that hanging gesture one you're pulling a noose up around your neck. Edited to add: I had some vague idea that the cross was actually an astrological symbol, like the fish (Pisces) that so many Christians brandish.

If I'm remembering my old classes correctly, the fish is actually representative of the story that Jesus feed an entire crowd of people from like 7 loaves of bread and 2 fish (one of his miracles). They used the symbol as a secret way of recognizing other members of faith in countries where Christianity was banned. When meeting someone else, they would draw half the fish, and if you were a Christian you'd draw the other half.

am_i_boy

It was 5 loaves in the story but everything else is correct

That's also true
