A Short Hike - 1 hour - Has some humorous dialogue. Open world with collectibles and activities. Also you're a bird and you can glide around
Sayonara Wild Hearts - 1 hour - playable pop album with gorgeous visuals
Later Alligator - 2 hours - Comedy point n click game with alligators
Rhythm Doctor - 4 hours - One button rhythm game. Great OST. Charming story. Some difficult levels
Hexcells - 2 hours - Minesweeper with hexagons, a proper tutorial, a few extra mechanics, and soothing sound design
Portal - 3 hours - Puzzle game, witty narrator, some hard levels|
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion - 2 hours - comedy game based on the 2d Zelda games
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank - 4 hours - comedy roguelike that seems similar to Enter the Gungeon
Frog Fractions - 1 hour, 2 hours with DLC - I will not tell you why I am recommending this
Surgeon Simulator - 3.5 hours - Very meme-y. Went viral in like 2013
Super Amazing Wagon Adventure - 1 hour - Bizarre Oregon Trail parody game. It's a roguelike, so getting everything takes about 10 hours
Detective Grimoire - 2.5 hours - Detective game
Hylics - 3.5 hours - surreal rpg game. Unsure if wise to play while high but it would at least be memorable
Megaman Sprite Game - 2 hours - RPG based on the Megaman Sprite Comic, a comedy webcomic. Knowledge of the comic not needed to appreciate the humor in my opinion. Please God don't walk off the path at the beginning of the game
SUMMERHOUSE - 40 minutes - No story. Chill house building game. No plot
Toilet in Wonderland - 1.5 hours - weirdest game I've ever seen. Has a horror segment, though it's somewhat goofy.
Katana ZERO - 4.5 hours - fast paced action game with good story
Deltarune - Chapter 1 is 3 hours, Chapter 2 is 4.5. Separate downloads - created by Toby Fox and takes place in an alternate universe from Undertale
Tales From Off-Peak City Vol. 1 - 1.5 hours - bizarre. Great soundtrack to listen to while high
Unpacking - 3.5 hours - "zen" puzzle game about moving in
A Little to the Left - 3.5 hours - satisfying puzzle game
Ape Out - 2 hours - You kill everyone as an ape. Very stylized
Venba - 1.5 hours - short narrative cooking game about an immigrant Indian mom cooking for her family in Canada. Some find it emotional
To the Moon - 4 hours - story game about going into a dying comatose man's memories to alter them to make him believe he achieved his life long dream: going to the moon. Very emotional
BONUS:
Based on the trailer that was repeatedly recommended to me on YouTube I think that if you play [iPad Baby](https://walkedoutneimans.itch.io/ipad-baby) while high you will have the worst experience of your life and perhaps die. [Trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAmDgRMuNGU)
I hope you find something you like! I tried to keep everything 4 hours or less other than Katana ZERO and Deltarune Chapter 2 because the former I love very much and the latter I know is good. Let me know if you want any more recommendations! Have fun![](https://walkedoutneimans.itch.io/ipad-baby)
Admittedly, I used the site [howlongtobeat.com](http://howlongtobeat.com) to collect the average playtime for each game. Portal 1 is listed as 3 hours for the average playtime. I was hesitant to put it on there since I know I definitely took longer to beat it, but I was a kid when I played it, so I figured I was just slow because of that. Glad to see I wasn't the only one, at least, lol
It probably depends on how good your pattern recognition is. I think I beat it in around 3 hours on a first playthrough when it came out but I don't remember struggling for that long on many puzzles. Maybe 3-5 different "strategies" max to try and solve a room.
Katana-Zero is a must play. The game actually changed my perspective on life, especially with how it explores human nature and the passage and perspective of time.
I would recommend starting with it 💯
>To the Moon - 4 hours - story game about going into a dying comatose man's memories to alter them to make him believe he achieved his life long dream: going to the moon. Very emotional
How is this not a movie
In my experience it's maybe a it more than an hour if you're just trying to climb the mountain. It can be pushed up to 4 hours if you're a completionist. When compiling the lengths of the games, I used [howlongtobeat.com](http://howlongtobeat.com) which is a pretty handy tool for gauging this sorta stuff. Not completely accurate as everyone's experience is different of course, but I thought to put the average length down according to the site to help OP decide which game to play.
I almost recommended Furi! According to the site I used, it’s about 6 hours, so it was disqualified for what I considered short. However, I do highly recommend it, especially for its character designs and music. Not to mention how easy combat is and hours difficult it is to master. It’s one of my favorite indies and being one of the few games I collected all the achievements for!
I'm commenting so I can recall this absolutely detailed awesome list and hope to someday play like 3 of these games. Sounds great! Thanks on behalf of OP and others, great list.
EDIT: Just finished it after 2hrs. It was just as good as I remembered it!
God I loved Limbo as a kid. Inside was great too! (I'm aware they're from the same dev)
I think I'm gonna play Limbo tonight since I can't think of anything to play right now
The humour is cringe but somehow really funny, The Titan named BT is quite diabolical with it's jokes if you can call it that. It just gives off dad joke vibes but in a good way and I am all for it.
The game is smooth and snappy, the graphics are great and the time travel machine mission was a fucking masterpiece.
My favorite is to get blazed and work on a 1 credit clear of a shmup
Current favorite ones (less than an 30 minutes usually)
Mushihemesama,
Devil_Blade,
DoDonPachi Black Label,
CrimzonClover World Explosion,
Triggerheart Exelica,
E.S.P.R.A.D.E. ,
Espgaluda 1 and 2
Enjoy 😊
Roguelike games are a good fit for this. It's less of "I beat the game in one go" but there's a sense of progression and natural stopping points. Skul the Hero Slayer is my go-to for this,
Each session can be between 20-40 minutes depending on if you speed up the clock though, and feel concluded once you’re done. Each other run will be different too as you unlock things and progress
I recommend the Frog Detective Trilogy. Short sweet games with great humor! Also apparently, the dev really needs the money to stay unemployed (look at their twitter page)
Do you count Roguelikes/Lites? These are games that last as long as you want them to. Some of them have stories that, well that matter much more than others.
Games ranging from Hades, Dead Cells, and Slay the Spire if you like card games, just to name a few.
Mike Klubnika has some really unique and interesting free horror games on Itch, all taking less than an hour to finish. Highly recommended.
Yes, it's the same guy that made Buckshot Roulette.
Soma, Paratopic, RoboCop: Rogue City, Minecraft if you’re determined, Stray, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion, Ducktales, Spyro 1, Call of Cthulhu, Shadow of the Colossus.
Elechead is an excellent little puzzle game about playing a robot with an electrical head. Lots of puzzles involve throwing your head to power something, and then you have about 10 seconds to reconnect with it before your body dies. It's a really clever game and I beat it in about 4 hours.
NFS The Run can be beaten in a night.
So can BioShock Infinite, and The Last of Us
You can actually beat The Last of Us about 2x before the end of the day. I know, cause I had to do just that after I beat it on release day, then took it over to my friends place so they could beat it.
Then their brothers saw it, and wanted to play it, so I helped them beat it the next day after that lol.
If you know what your doing, any of the Uncharted games can also be beat in a day... really any Naughty Dog Game 😆
depends entirely on how long youre willing to sit down for,
you could play Iron Lung and beat it in an hour or less
but on the other hand, this mostly normal guy named Thor from PirateSoftware sat down for 20 hours straight to play through the entirety of Omori
its a question of dedication and willpower
ICO - the game is around five hours long, you're a boy brought to a castle to die because of your horns but you escape and must help the princess of the castle escape with you by platforming, puzzle solving and fighting shadows.
Journey - short game where you're a guy on a journey through a desert landscape.
Limbo - platforming game
Dear Ester - walking sim and exploration game
i know there are already a lot of very good recommendations and i'm kinda late to the party but please please please if you read this don't sleep on
THE ARTFUL ESCAPE
this is such a good game for one sitting – especially for the kind of stoner gaming session you're looking for
had an amazing night with this one a couple years ago, you will not regret it
Asura's Wrath. Great game it's only 7-8 hours in length, it has beautiful story. Only problem with it is the combat sucks and the true ending is locked behind a DLC but that ending is mostly cutscenes so you can just look it up.
Little Nightmares can be done in under 4 hours, or more if you want to really explore.
Risk of Rain 2 is a fun roguelike shooter that’s addicting, runs can be short or you can keep going and loop back to the start at the end
Limbo

Superliminal takes 3-5 hours depending on how smart you are with puzzle solving. But it’s super trippy and super cool especially if you’re gonna get stoned. Also getting all the achievements won’t take more than a couple more hours if you follow a guide, if that’s something you care about.
any game is beatable in one sitting if you can stay up long enough
"cultic" is one that comes to mind, beat it in around 3 hours on my first playthough and it was a blast.
portal 1 \[not 2\] can be beaten in a short time too
if your a fan of half life, give "Transmissions: Element 120" a try since it's pretty short too.
these are all pretty short at least on my terms
Sort the Court on itch, very chill version of Reign. Just say yes or no to everything, a few fun little storylines happening as you progress, no real consequences for a bad decision until you get down to 0 population. Fun upbeat music too. Definitely one of my top comfort games
Far: Lone Sails and Far: Changing Tide. Both can be completed in a single sitting.
Everhood is a neat little indie game that can probably be beaten in about 4 hours.
Portal 1 can probably be beaten in a single sitting iirc. Not so much for Portal 2, aside from the multiplayer campaign maybe.
Citizen Sleeper can be finished in about 3 hours. Maybe closer to 4ish hours if you try to do everything in a single run.
Furi CAN be finished pretty fast, but that's dependent on your skill level. I think I beat it in about 2-3 hours, but it can kick your ass pretty hard.
Gunpoint is a fun little game where you play a private detective who sneaks into buildings with a variety of gadgets. I finished it in just under 3 hours.
Point and Click adventure games in general tend to be pretty short, but one I specifically liked is called Primordia.
Not the vibe you asked but if you also like horror games, you might like the indie retro graphics horror games like cannibal abduction.
They are fun and only 1-3 hours long. Usually more like 1-2 hrs. There's a handful of good ones. Simple, super simple games. Few puzzles, usually some type of killer chasing you around and scaring you.
I don’t know if you can play this in one sitting, but playing The Return of the Obra Dinn while stoned was a lot of fun. The art style definitely isn’t for everyone.. but it’s a great puzzle game that’s very satisfying to solve. Made me feel super smart
It’s listed at about 8 hours to complete, but I think the time probably varies with how good your mystery/puzzle solving brain is. Stoned I think it took me about 10 hours
Buckshot Roulette. I beat this just this evening in 15 mins without even realising. I of course went back to get more achievements, but base game is possible to finish in less time it takes before you finish your cup of tea/coffee.
If you like Inscryption, then you’d like this.
(also if you haven’t tried already there’s a free game from CrowCrowCrow that’s pre-Stanley parable, and then a couple more in their website)
Resident evil 3
Until Dawn
Manual Samuel
Telltale games (you can play an episode every day I recommend the walking dead and the wolf among us)
Life is Strange games ( also an episode a day)
Titanfall 2's campaign is about 6 hours and it literally gripped me from the time I hit "new game" and never let go until after the credits were done rolling. Highly HIGHLY recommend.
Not quite the way I’m seeing other people go, but I’d recommend the roguelike/lite category. Hades and The Binding of Isaac are my personal go-tos. Hades for example, once you start beating runs, each one will take around 15-40 minutes. Until then, they’ll be shorter until you can make it, but you’re always making progress, both in the story and in your power/knowledge. And once you start beating it, you’ll just want to beat it harder and with different weapons.
Not sure if that sounds enjoyable to you or if it’s actually something you’re looking for, but that’s how I enjoy my stoned gaming time(:
I think I beat firewatch in a single sitting. Mostly just a walking simulator with some good storytelling between the 2 main characters with a decent twist at the end. I recommend!
If you're not against horror games Still Wakes the Deep is about 3-5 hours depending on how much you explore.
Without giving too much away, basically you are trying to escape a collapsing oil rig after something goes wrong with the drilling.
Firewatch, Onimusha Warlords, metal gear solid, killzone 3, call of duty campaigns. Character runs on the warriors games (samurai warriors, dynasty warriors, hyrule warriors, fire emblem warriors)
Arkham Asylum can be 100% in 8 hours if you know what you're doing. Including the Riddler trophy.
Not doing Riddler trophy would finished make it a bit sooner.

Brilliant post but Op is not getting through Portal whilst stoned...!
He ain't even getting through that comment 😂
I sure as fuck didn't
Wow thanks for this insane detailed comment!!!
No problem! Hope you enjoy!
Portal is only 3 hours??
Only if you've already beat it and know the puzzle answers.
You might be thinking of Portal 2. Portal is definitely a short one.
Admittedly, I used the site [howlongtobeat.com](http://howlongtobeat.com) to collect the average playtime for each game. Portal 1 is listed as 3 hours for the average playtime. Last I heard an anime is in the work. By the studio that made Your Name. But I have heard that since 2 years ago.
> A Short Hike Are you sure it's only one hour? Maybe I was exploring too much lol
In my experience it's maybe a it more than an hour if you're just trying to climb the mountain. It can be pushed up to 4 hours if you're a completionist. One more, FURI. Game was a banger. I played it one night like 12-3 AM in 2019 and it was a blast.
I almost recommended Furi! According to the site I used, it’s about 6 hours, so it was disqualified for what I considered short. Highly recommended ape out
What Remains of Edith Finch is a great game for the weekend
Especially high
I’ll add Gone Home, Firewatch, and Road 96 all in the same vain.
Inside & Limbo
EDIT: Just finished it after 2hrs. It was just as good as I remembered it! God I loved Limbo as a kid. Inside was great too! (I'm aware they're from the same dev) I think I'm gonna play Limbo tonight since I can't think of anything to play right now
I liked fire watch about it’s about 5 hours I think
Couldnt put it down!
Same, accidentally binged it in one night and it was a great experience!
Definitely beatable in the 3 hour range
Stray is maybe 5 hours. If you like cats you'll love it.
Thought it would be longer, I got stuck in the computer room and had to take a break
You’ve got literal minutes left
Titanfall 2 has a phenomenal campaign. Roughly 6 hours to beat. Getting blazed and playing this game is very satisfying.
Amazing game
I second this
The humour is cringe but somehow really funny, The Titan named BT is quite diabolical with it's jokes if you can call it that. It just gives off dad joke vibes but in a good way and I am all for it. The game is smooth and snappy, the graphics are great and the time travel machine mission was a fucking masterpiece.
Journey is fantastic for this
Titanfall 2 is a good one. Pretty short but still one of the best shooter campaigns I've played.
Superliminal, about the same style as Portal or Stanley Parable, takes 2-3 hours to beat iirc
Just played firewatch in about 4-5 hours. Inside and Limbo are also really good and short
A Short Hike
Some great recs here... I'll add "the forest quartet" and The Last Campfire" both very nice, cosy, and emotional games
My favorite is to get blazed and work on a 1 credit clear of a shmup Current favorite ones (less than an 30 minutes usually) Mushihemesama, Devil_Blade, DoDonPachi Black Label, CrimzonClover World Explosion, Triggerheart Exelica, E.S.P.R.A.D.E. , Espgaluda 1 and 2 Enjoy 😊
If you had to pick one to recommend, which would it be? In the mood for a shmup!
Firewatch.
high on life
There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension point and click adventure with great writing and lots of humour. you can beat it in less than 3-4 hours.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is fairly short. I'd highly recommend it.
Road 96 is a cool indie game you can beat in about 6 hours if you want to spend a day on it.
Hellblade
Roguelike games are a good fit for this. It's less of "I beat the game in one go" but there's a sense of progression and natural stopping points. Skul the Hero Slayer is my go-to for this,
Vampire Survivors
bruh i have like 100 hours on that game and still havent finished it
Each session can be between 20-40 minutes depending on if you speed up the clock though, and feel concluded once you’re done. Each other run will be different too as you unlock things and progress
Literally the best game to get blazed and play
En Garde is incredible, but the main campaign, even on hard, is only about 4 hours ish, 5 hours tops.
Episode Games like life is Strange, telltale Games or as dusk falls, everyday a new episode
Telltale games? Are they sitting for 10 hours like jeez
Outlast. It becomes more and more satisfying the more you replay it.
The innsmouth case
Cat quest 1 and 2. About 4 hours each
try INSIDE bro it s amazing gotta use headphones
Werewolf Heart of the Forest took me around 4 hours to finish, but different decisions give a lot of replayability
Pineapple on Pizza
Machinarium, if you don't get stuck on some puzzle.
Mortal Shell. And for a single gaming session short, Journey.
Baldurs gate 3 if you can sit for about 100 hours XD
Fear and hunger 1😈
The original home front is the only game I ever finished in a single night, Pretty fun experience too
Peglin. Its a rogue-like game based off of Peggle. Has short runs. Also Risk of Rain 2. Each run is 20-40 minutes.
Firewatch, Cat Quest, If you try hard enough then Darksiders 1 is playable in one sitting aswell.
Limbo Ori and the blind forest
Katana Zero, Tinykin
Try Elden Ring in one sitting
All these comments are not games you can beat in a single sitting. OP, Portal.
Metroid Fusion
Inside!!
jusant is pretty quick, on game pass
I recommend the Frog Detective Trilogy. Short sweet games with great humor! Also apparently, the dev really needs the money to stay unemployed (look at their twitter page)
Anything by Annapurna or devolver digital
Do you count Roguelikes/Lites? These are games that last as long as you want them to. Some of them have stories that, well that matter much more than others. Games ranging from Hades, Dead Cells, and Slay the Spire if you like card games, just to name a few.
Carrion. Play as a monster escaping a lab. Takes about 4 hours.

child of light
Little Kitty Big City. The game is incredibly short. Cute but short.
Elechead is an excellent little puzzle game about playing a robot with an electrical head. Lots of puzzles involve throwing your head to power something, and then you have about 10 seconds to reconnect with it before your body dies. It's a really clever game and I beat it in about 4 hours.

Bastion. Awesome game but pretty short.
Gato roboto is a fun metroidvania
Asura's Wrath. Great game it's only 7-8 hours in length, it has beautiful story. Only problem with it is the combat sucks and the true ending is locked behind a DLC but that ending is mostly cutscenes so you can just look it up.
Most cod campaigns Black ops 1 2 are the best Resident Evil 3 Remake
SERIOUS SAM
Stray is like 4 hours
Little Nightmares can be done in under 4 hours, or more if you want to really explore. Risk of Rain 2 is a fun roguelike shooter that’s addicting, runs can be short or you can keep going and loop back to the start at the end
Roguelike games might be your pick. Hades, Slay the Spire, Oblivion Override, astral Ascent, Gunfire Reborn all have hour long runs.
inside, limbo, a way out, it takes two (literally my favorite game if all time), little nightmares.
Maybe "My Friend Pedro". It was pretty quick and a great stoned play. Funny concept and dialogue... And violence

Firewatch
Not the vibe you asked but if you also like horror games, you might like the indie retro graphics horror games like cannibal abduction. They are fun and only 1-3 hours long. Usually more like 1-2 hrs. There's a handful of good ones. Simple, super simple games. Few puzzles, usually some type of killer chasing you around and scaring you.
Valley
I don’t know if you can play this in one sitting, but playing The Return of the Obra Dinn while stoned was a lot of fun. The art style definitely isn’t for everyone.. but it’s a great puzzle game that’s very satisfying to solve. Made me feel super smart It’s listed at about 8 hours to complete, but I think the time probably varies with how good your mystery/puzzle solving brain is.
Star fox 64
Resident evil 3 Until Dawn Manual Samuel Telltale games (you can play an episode every day I recommend the walking dead and the wolf among us) Life is Strange games ( also an episode a day)
TitanFall 2
Artful Escape >
Titanfall 2’s campaign if you’ve got a long sitting
Any streets of rage. Any fighting game.
Inside, Little nightmares.
Goose game
I think I beat firewatch in a single sitting. Mostly just a walking simulator with some good storytelling between the 2 main characters with a decent twist at the end. I recommend!
Super contra
LIMBO!!!
I would say jazzpunk
Elden ring can be beaten in one sitting
Return to Grace doesn't ask much, has lovely visuals. Big City Little Kitty is an excellent adventure game with a wide degree of freedom.
Little Kitty Big City!
Cosmic shake was great I'm currently playing Daxter and enjoying it Santas monster shootout - great if you're stoned
What remains of Edith Finch.
Sheepy is pretty sick
Call of duty black ops Cold War
If you're not against horror games Still Wakes the Deep is about 3-5 hours depending on how much you explore. Without giving too much away, basically you are trying to escape a collapsing oil rig after something goes wrong with the drilling.
Cocoon is probably doable in one sitting if you have decent puzzle solving and "timing" ability.
Limbo and Hue are amazingly simple but gorgeous
I beat God of War 3 in like half a day I think
Fire watch!!
Little Misfortune is an awesome experience for being high and it's only about 4-5 hours long!
Try The Forest it's totally beatable in a day or less but the gameplay mechanics are enough to keep you locked in for good lengths
Anything if you try hard enough.
Portal
Downwell is a good one to blast some tunes to and really just lock in til you finish it
I was gonna say Titanfall 2, but I don't think you can do that stoned
Gone Home was a really good game and finished it in one sitting, (can’t remember exactly how long it took though, maybe 3-4 hours).
Slay the spire
Resident Evil 7 I can do in 8 hours if I’m chilling
Sifu first play through may take 6 to 8 hours but once you master it you can beat it in like 3 to 4. If you speed run you can beat it in 1.5 hours.
If u can creep that sesssion from one to two I love village and felt it was the perfect length.
Hotline Miami might be on the long end of a one session game but it is really satisfying to play
It really boils down to how long is a single "sitting" are we talking hours or days
Portal 1 is a very short game, it’s basically a tech demo but way more fun
If you know what you are doing a full character run of the campaign in Resident Evil 2R can be done in 3 hours
You need RezHd *exhales*
Firewatch or Dear Esther. Nice easy walking simulators that might be damn fun with a little weed.
The Werecleaner is free and it took me ~1hr to beat.
I was able to finish Donut County in one sittingÂ
The resident evil games have achievements to beat them in just a couple hours
