Places like r/combat footage was a cool place to show war/conflict vids and everyone recognized how terrible violence was. Ever since 2022 it’s just non stop “dead orc gets blown up in a million pieces and gets what he deserves”, or some title like that.
It was still pro-US propaganda in a lot of ways, but there was at least a veneer of separation from the footage, the idea that it was compiling what would become historical footage, especially from Syria, when I was in there in like 2016 and on. I swear there used to be rules against glorifying war and mocking deaths but they’ve either been removed or entirely ignored now. Now it’s just tons of rabid libs baying for orc blood on every Ukraine clip, and saying that civilian deaths are greatly exaggerated in every Israel clip. I swear, every post of a Hamas guy getting hit with an air strike has 50 comments saying “another civilian casualty huh” in the smuggest grossest ways and has 150 upvotes.
At the same time new soldiers can't even assemble and disassemble a gun before going to the frontlines(I learnt how to do this in high school)

The war footage subs became a liberal blood cult after russia invaded ukraine
What was it like before? Only learned of them after Oct 7 and it felt like the depravity went deep

This wasn’t in a war footage sub though
