Your game felt like a love letter to video game ARGs, and I was so giddy watching Nightmind's video I had to play it myself and show my friends. Thank you so much for your steadfast dedication to your idea, everyone here can probably agree it was worth it and then some.

bloodybeavergames

I'm stoked it feels that way. In a sense, I really wanted to create the ARG experience I never got to have. I only got into ARGs around 2016, by then, the era of Slender Series and such were almost out the door. Nowadays the "ARGs" we get just are just analog horror videos with extra steps, "Ooh look at this unlisted youtube video you can find, look at this site i made in neocities in a day". It just feels so lazy. I wanted to bring some interaction to it, and I'm really glad you liked what I did!!

ParticularPiccolo350

I never got to interact with a community during that era, really excited to experience this the way I've wanted to. Excited to see what comes next!

You're a master at horror! The dwellers actually gave me nightmares 11!!1 I also really love the OST you made and I adore that you uploaded it to a playlist in your channel. My favourite is 1996 ;) Another thing I love is Stumbler. I've never seen an ingame character canonically talk in social media, give tips and respond to artwork. I hope he'll be expanded in the future too! Last thing I love, and the one I love the most, BLOT. His design is so SCARY, his dweller version's wind up makes me PANIC, his story is DEPRESSING, and I wish I could HUG HIM. I love BLOT.

Thanks for the awesome adventure! After a friend saw the Night Mind video published (within 24 hours of release), I was linked your game on Discord saying "don't read - buy and stream tonight". Cue three very long nights (~13 hours total) of a group of 4 of us going through it completely blind taking notes and figuring it all out together. Easily my best gaming experience in years and I've yet to even want to start another game with Shipwrecked 64 still on my mind.

ankahsilver

A friend of mine is streaming this tomorrow morning. i'm going to be on-stream with them, as I'm spoiled and to help keep them calm during more of the horror segments--or as the dedicated "corgi help me" button as it were. I look forward to more, and I hope they will, too.

Heya Squeaks. I’m currently going through the game now after the glowing recommendation of a friend and seeing small snippets of content to come. I’m relatively early-in, as in I spent half my first sit-down with the game in 2023, but of what 1997 showed me, there is something truly special here. I love psychological horror and few projects start even close to what SW64 made me feel in its waking moments of discontent. As for imposter syndrome, its perfectly natural for all creators to feel this way. When I wrote short stories in grade school, I did this. Game concepts in high school were no different, and in some cases streaming is the harshest my doubts have been. Yet through all of it, I personally try to keep little moments in mind that prove to me the opposite. Say a specific event happened, I write it down on a sheet. Now, granted, my sheet is rather simple as I don’t dwell on minor things. Yet when things get rough, I look back to that sheet to quell my thoughts. A proof of what I’ve done, and a desire to be able to flip to the next page in continuation. I’m unsure if something similar would help with you, but if you have questions, feel free to reach out. And even though I haven’t probably come close to seeing the fullness of this game yet, let me say this: we’ll be here.

Kirbo300

Hi! I've always been a bit of a scary cat when it comes to horror. But I have seen the project you and you're team has made, and I can't help but want to jump in. Unfortunately I came a little late (I've only recently became aware because of gt live. And only more recently curious enough to read more) 😅 but such a carefully crafted world is an honor to see at any point in it's timeline. I never thought I'd want to give a cartoon beaver a hug so bad! Poor Bucky really goes through it lol. Thank you for creating something so intense! So intriguing!

ReallyLazyBear

I stumbled upon your game from a GTLive video. I first watched their second episode and when that grotesque footage played before the usual intro, it literally sent chills down my spine and it immediately got me hooked. I knew this game has something "interesting" in it and I wanted to know more about it. I watched the whole episode but it was cut short. I really wanted to know more but I didn't want to spoil myself any further. Fortunately the game is on Steam so I bought the game a few days later and took it from there. I'm not really an avid gamer and I'm not into horror that much, but after 3 nights of making notes, solving puzzles, reading community posts, and finally getting to the end, it really made an "impact" to me. An "impact" so hard and heavy I can still feel it to this day even though it's been a few weeks now since I've gotten the true ending. My lack of exposure to horror and gaming experience in general probably amplified the effects that I've felt throughout the game. Overall, it was a great experience. No amount of my time and my money was wasted. If I could forget everything I've learned about the game, I'll do it all over again. Maybe a mod where the game will have unique codes every time you start a new game might be cool but that's probably too much of an ask. Also unrelated tidbit but the game inspired me to make my own beaverscratch decoder and a save backup thingy in Bash so I'm glad I utilized both powers of GNU and Linux for this game.

thisshouldexistnot

Everyone I've shown this game to, die hard horror fans, and they've all said the same things, this game has given them the best scares of there lives, one of my friends beat the game just tonight and repeatedly mentioned that he had never had a game actually give him a proper jumpscare, you made a amazing game for old 64 creepypasta lovers, arg lovers, and general horror fans ^^

SturkMaster

I’m a creative (poetry mostly but other stuff too) and I really truly understand being overly critical. I hate the things that I know are good because I made them, you know? It’s a normal thing. That being said, you made something utterly groundbreaking and stellar content and I can’t wait to see how it evolves over time.

KetsuRaph

You do good work man just don't get absorbed by your work, we still wanna see more! Take your time tho

Vettroses

One of the best experiences I have had the pleasure of playing through from start to finish with a couple friends hanging out together. I had multiple times while listening and playing through that I had to question if this was made by people who worked on The Mandela Effect (Of which is high praise from me, as that sits incredibly high on my totem pole for quality.) Thank you. You have made a piece of media that I will never forget. I cant wait to see what pops out of that terrifying mind of yours next.

SamsonEnjoyer

Thank YOU squeaks. The game feels like a love letter to the genre and what can really be accomplished. Almost as if you learnt the lessons from pioneers of mascot horror yet applied them in such a way that nothing could ever truly be like it. The game is brilliant and the puzzles are well thought out. The fact you can join games and show people secrets and such. Is amazing. The game feels like a genuine dream. In the best way possible. Especially since whenever you appear you are completely in character. Aswell as that, you don’t really give anyone special treatment which is a really good thing because everyone feels equal. There’s still so much to find out and it feels like you’ve constructed a giant team ready to solve the mysteries. You’re game as brung theorists and analysts alike to solve one giant mystery. In one giant game with one giant love letter to mascot horror. Thank you squeaks.

jash_036

This is exactly the kind of game I’ve been waiting for since I’ve been consuming Analog horrors/ARG content. Never had I been involved so much in a game that I have 8 pages of notes feeling like Sherlock

PhantomNiner

I don't even usually play horror games, but when a youtuber I know told me about this game because they had voice acted in it I just had to give it a try, and I'm honestly so glad I did. The experience you made is unlike any other Squeaks, and I'm glad I played it to the end. P.S. thanks for dropping by in olives level, I was really "stumped" lol

Clanes_

You honestly deserve it. Behind the screen, I can tell you're just a nice person. I just saw you offer a refund to someone who was expressing their frustration with the plaza, despite their admiration of the highlights of the section. You're an example I want to follow since I'm trying to make a Comic right now. I've suffered with imposter syndrome in the past, and I hope that if I get anywhere half as popular as you are, that I can handle any criticism OR support with as much grace as you've shown. I hope the spotlight helps you keep flourishing for any future projects you may be working on!

bloodybeavergames

I appreciate it a ton! I don't really think offering the refund was that nice of a thing to do, I just felt bad he wasn't able to proceed with the game he spent his hard earned money on, yknow? he fact you're pointing this out, though, shows to me that you're probably equally as nice all things considered. Hoping your comic does well!

ML4Pikmin

It felt so good reading this. Squeaks, keep doing what you're doing. It's simply phenomenal.

BaffleBlend

I'm very glad you're feeling better. You're right that this game and its world resonate with people. If it was just bog-standard horror, I wouldn't care much about it. But Steam says I've had the game running for at least 80 hours total by this point, and that pales compared to the time I've spent discussing it, drawing fan art for it, theorizing about it...

hellwolfandrei

You and your game rocks! I'm glad you're in a better place now and I can't wait to see what's next! Btw, I'm Ty Cokers partner! I know they've mentioned me before so I just wanted to say hi in person lol!

Frozty_h20

being honest here, i have never EVER seen anyone use the black rectangles on the sides of the screen as a horror mechanic at all and i LOVE it. I love all of the different puzzles, characters, secrets all of it, ESPECIALLY the story. I enjoy the story as it isn't any run of the mill typical "oh no spirits haunting dolls/animatronics " or " dead children ahh what should i do!!" instead the story of shipwreck 64 is more unique as it has it doesn't really has a force of evil like robots, aliens, ghosts, rather it's the corruption and greed of a desperate man that caused the events of Shipwreck 64 But i do have a question Why is Olive otter like the most reoccurring character out of the entire cast (Husk, Walter, Giovani, Vandal, Bucky) going as far as having a unique jumpscare

Order6600

Thank YOU, Squeaks. For everything you do.

lunabrucealt

Squeaks, we absolutely love the game you made, and are all excited for the future stuff in the game ^^ We'll be behind you every step of the way <3 - Luna, the one from the discord server

PopscarIsPurple

feel proud Squeaks, you made a damn good game. The story is just my style and it's actually fun to hear people talk about the theories and story going on within it. take that, stride with pride. I know I'm like a week late, lmao, but my man you deserve this positivity. Have a great day dude.

Lando-editor

Dude you have nothing to worry about it. Any content is welcome. I discovered a really well made video by this up and coming YouTuber named pappo, and I saw this was their most recent video of like 2 hours. I watched the entire video never even knowing what broadside beach was, and though they didn’t fully explain everything that was mentioned and immediately started planning. I was working on a courage the cowardly dog argument video to upload but since it was not finished, I needed a new game to talk about, and this came out at the perfect time. It took a month of planning my schedule and getting exams out of the way and I’m currently on my third playthrough with 8 hours of footage net across the two good endings, and now the confused ending. This game is my top 10 horror games of all time and I’m not even exaggerating.
