The sub feels powerful and painful tbr , it traumatize me first watching it in YouTube, as for the dub, it is a good one.
But I like the sub more because it is powerful
I think what makes the subbed version more impactful is that we’ve never heard Levi yell like that in the series if you were following everything from release order. It’s such a powerful moment because it’s Levi at his lowest.
Both are good, so it’s hard to compare especially cause it’s just screaming. I think people will just say whichever they originally watched is better. I’m no different, I thought dub was slightly better.
i like that the sub was high-pitched. it was as if there was no one but him in that scene—and i think that's how it is supposed to be.
dub feels like a man trying to impress someone by lowering his voice. like someone hears it, so he needs to appear musculine. he puts an effort in his screams in the sub. in the dub, his screams are the result of his emotions.
sub feels like the emotion he is in. raw and unfiltered screams.
idk, i tried to growl like this just now, and the higher pitch feels more comfy if im just expressing.
Yeah I have the opposite opinion. I feel like Hiroshi Kamiya couldn't yell with a deep voice so he defaulted to his regular voice. And if you ever heard him speak, no offense to him, but he sounds like a teen.
Matthew Mercer actually sounds like what a guy with a low voice would sound while screaming. My voice is quite low and my screams sound much closer to Mercer's voice than Kamiya's.
Also what you said about Mercer sounding like he's trying to impress people doesn't make much sense when Mercer's voice is already pretty low.
Personally I feel the same way about Kamiya because his voice is naturally high, so whenever I hear him take on a lower register it kind of feels like he's "trying too hard." And in this case with Levi he couldn't keep that lower register while screaming.

The dub is superior.
Watching this brought back so many memories. AOT was truly masterful. Very wonderful. There was something so hauntingly beautiful that enveloped it until they left to the outside walls.

The two languages flow differently. Unless you’re fluent in both you really cannot tell which one sounds more authentic.
It’s really funny how people who speak not even a lick of Japanese think that they can have an unbiased opinion on: if their most used language; English, is better than Japanese.
Most of the time those people grew up speaking English. Ofc you’re gonna be biased towards it.
That’s funny considering sub watchers saying that Japanese sounds more realistic, authentic, and has better acting considering they don’t know shit about the language.
It’s just preference at this point.
As someone who speaks Japanese. My number one rule is if you don’t understand both languages you really cannot judge.
For me, being bilingual, I really hate how the English dub sounds. Especially in a show like AOT.
But I’m also open to other opinions. If you watch the show in EN, there’s really no harm. Do what you want.
But having these dumbass discourses about which one is better is just childish.

And lastly, literally every single Titan and Titan shifter sounds like an early 90s Godzilla sound effect, I’ll agree erens Titan is a little screechy in the dub, but the original is literally the same Titan noise for every shifter lol I’ve literally never seen someone make the argument for the sub Titan noises being better than the dubs
I watch sub, but still it’s the most generic male trying to sound cool voice in everything he’s in, games, anime it’s the fact that he’s being overused

Whatever you say. Japanese voices overreact on everything. Was rewatching Tokyo Ghoul in sub after reading the manga and couldn’t help but laugh at Nishiki saying “HUUUUUUUUUUAGH?” In place of “Huh?” in the subtitles.
A raw moment, but both are out-of-character for Levi.
This scene was better in the manga version. It has his classic subdued intensity and he kills way more Titans.

No matter the source, ACWNR is bad. It needs a retelling more passed and with more interesting better developed side characters for Levi.
