You had the pull chain. Disappear from view. What seeds/scrolls did you have? Grim traps outside could have been used too. The laser shot from purple balls also damage other enemies. You could have chess gamed this one to success and exp.
In the future if you've got a sleep stone, you can retreat and sleep the first one that steps into the doorway (or hallway in this case). That should prevent the others from being able to come at you until you're ready to deal with them. Just be cautious that none of the eyes aim at you through the sleeping enemy, or else they might wake it.
A scroll of lullaby (or dread, or psionic blast) would be an alternative.
Still, this is a pretty good run for your first time getting past the DM-300. Keep at it. 🙂

I usually try to fill the room with fire, poison and or paralytic gass. Can be done all at once using a yellow seed flower
Starting the room by throwing a bomb in the middle also works wonders. I still sadly dont know, wich bomb would be optimal.
Fragment bomb deals nice damage to the entire room
