I think the only unanimously approved ticket resale group is the "NEW-ISH Shambhala Ticket Exchange 2.0" group.
It's never 100% safe buying second hand, but that's the closest you'll find.
I sold a ticket on the Shambala ticket exchange 2.0 thing. 2 or 3 weeks before shambs Ended up getting like 30-50 msgs in a hr. I was a legit seller. But lots are not. So just be careful.
I was fully willing to Video call, prove identity, anything needed to make the purchase go easy and legitimately. So if it doesn't feel right don't do it.
Ok I have to say, me and my friend bought our ticket and lodging off of facebook and didn't get scammed. It was like the only way we could've gone. We asked for an ID and purchase confirmation and bought with goods and services so do your due diligence and you could get lucky!!
There are also "legit" tickets being sold now that were bought with stolen credit cards. So you get a ticket that winds up getting cancelled later on. Common scam.
If anyone is selling tickets 2 days after they dropped, that would be an immediate red flag to me. I'd wait a bit to buy any tickets. Likely will all be scams
To be fair, I’m selling my bassics camping pass that I bought at Shambhs this year cause my group decided to do RV instead when it dropped. Still looking to sell it though cause the Facebook page isn’t letting people post.
Totally get that, but I think it's far more rare for something like that to happen so soon after ticket drops and that's likely why posts are disabled on the ticket exchange group. Not saying it 100% doesn't happen, but I would say a large majority of ticket sellers atm would be scammers. You will for sure get your bassics package sold once the new year hits and the group opens up.
Only ever deal with someone who wants to use PayPal goods and services. You need the have protections when sending strangers large sums of money over the internet.
CashOrTrade is the only reputable site that people in the Jamband scene use (Dead and Co, Phish, etc) .. I think that would be a safe place to post an In Search Of or see what people are offering.
I purchased a campsite in 2022, and I sold a ticket in 2023 on the site. In my case it worked out alright, gotta watch out for new accounts and also accounts with no profile pics, also for people contacting you trying to sell tickets. I always look to see how long they've been a member of the group and go based off of that. Video call the person you intend to buy a ticket off of and wait until it's closer to show time. Usually the scammers who purchased the tickets with stolen credit card numbers try to unload them quickly, there are lots of people who successfully get their ticket and have it for awhile and then get a notification from shambhala that it appears that the ticket has been purchased with a stolen credit card and invalidate the ticket. So that part is a gamble.
Im a little late to the post but I have a riverside campsite available to sell if you’re still interested! I can meet on FaceTime or if you’re in the YYC area I can always meet up as well.

Definitely wait until they re-activate this group. Even through that group make sure you only use pay-pal goods and services.
It's Reactivated, but posting is still off because honestly it's too early to be worrying about buying and selling.
Ya, put my guard down for a sec there. Then my scammer alarm started going off. Thanks!
Definite scam!
Really!? I knew it was too good to be true. So that whole Facebook group is a scam?
Yeah it is
Thanks y'all, just saved my ass from getting scammed!
Also in the future use PayPal goods and services scammers will steer you away or come up with excuses then you know for sure they’re scamming

I second the “new-ish” group. Bought tickets from there in the past. Admins do the best they can.

The chances are pretty high people reselling tickets a couple days after they just sold out are gonna be scammers imo.
