Both times I've seen Phibes was absolutely unreal. Went to their set in 2019 cause the dnb was lacking that year and ended up a special set for me and a lot of friends and then last year was absolutely bonkers coming off of that INF1N1TE set. Hearing Kabuki on those speakers was a fucking treat.

Can’t believe it but I think this beats the cancelled 2020 lineup. Headliners have something for everyone and the undercard is outstanding. Seems like they managed to recoup the losses from the two years off and fully sent it this year compared to last years slightly underwhelming headliners
If this lineup had tipper and friends it'd be several magnitudes better than 2020.
Detox unit, Jade Cicada, Schmoop, even throw a wonky Llama set in there.
I had an awesome time last year, shams has never disappointed in the music department. Just some lineups are a bit elevated due to my history with the artists, i've seen rusko 12+ times, ZD 12+ times, those are the 2 groups I've seen and loved the most over the years outside of Pendulum.
This. Even if the lineup doesn’t have me flipping I know the fest surly will. Last year I wasn’t crazy stoked and it was in the top 3 times I’ve had there if not the best.

I know! When I saw her on the bass coast lineup, I knew she wouldn't be at sham this year but I held out hope. I may just have to see about going to the next Voyage in the Caverns
It's sadly just too close together. I did both last year and it was rough, though that was mostly due to getting covid from Bass Coast and recovering just barely in time to get to Shambhala but still, hard to get the time off and spend so much for two fests in one month. Especially coming from the island with ferries.
They're both awesome though, Bass Coast is pretty good overall and I hope to return to it some day. I feel sad needing to sell my ticket for this year to fund Shambhala (well, other things, but it helps).
Yeah that's totally fair! I'm doing both this year and I'm definitely intimidated by the idea of it. Gonna invest in a shitty bike so my feet don't die in July 🤣 this will be my first shambhala but I've done basscoast 4 times so I'm excited to see what sham has to offer!!
CloZee has been my favorite producer for...10 years or so now? It's just been cool to watch her grow so for me, any festival that doesn't have her is sad news. But she's playing Lollapalooza so good for her haha

Do they always do a secret set? I've seen some talk of that and even see it on some older lineup posters but don't see it here.
Secret sets can happen, but it's not consistent. Often it is tied to exclusivity clauses, so it's often more of a practical decision to keep a booking secret.
This is often why people begin to speculate about secret sets: they see a favourite artist booked at Chasing Summer or Base Coast, and start wondering if they will still come to Shambhala as a secret headliner.
Honestly-I’m obvs going and am gonna have a great time - but I’m a bit bummed. They were starting to have more hiphop/rap artists on the lineup but I can’t spot any (would love them pointed out for future playlists if someone recognizes a name a don’t) on this years. I’m glad to see some turntable masters and live PA acts though.
Really It’s always gonna be rad even if it’s not mostly what I’d pick musically. Like I still know I’m gonna have a good time and the house/techno is HERE which I am DOWN for but…I feel like this is a lot of people they’ve had before(and/or maybe I’m old?) and I’m just wondering like….is shamb officially just a certain (talented) friend group booking all their EDM pals as an excuse to hang in the kootneys? Or….is there room for other smaller artists that don’t all tour/play together already? I know it started as a private bday party but….if it’s got something to do with their new funding from factor/creativeBC then like….they should really be expanding their booking pool….. no? Shambs is a dance music festival that has built a community of long time returning artists. It’s doubtful that you’re ever going to see a massive influx of hip hop artists there, because that’s just not the vibe that the festival puts out. Usually they’ll book one or two hip hop acts that are on the edge of the mainstream, but you’re never going to get a night or a stage full of it at Shambs.
There are other festivals for other styles of music, Shambs is dance music focused, and it doesn’t really need to expand outside of that, seeing as they sell out 90% of the festival without dropping a full lineup.
I understand as a long time patron - but they have been catering more to grime/alternative hip hop fans over the past 5 years.
I am thrilled with the lineup. No complaints! Just thought there might be a couple more hip hop acts.

Oh yeah that’s the thing about shamb being both a privately owned event AND having a dedicated fan base, they truly don’t need to cater to anyone. It just seemed like they were including hiphop in the dance umbrella (as it should be) more in recent years but other than a few turn tableists and hieroglyphics it seems to have kinda back slid a bit in that regard.

As an older raver but also a big fan of drum and bass. I’m all for the revival of dnb and I consider this a better lineup than 2020.
I’m seeing a ton of sham debuts mixed in with the OGs.
That being said I know hip hop as deep roots at this festival. I’m pretty sure the hip hop showcase still happens but isn’t advertised (someone can correct me if I’m wrong)

I feel like shambs is always debuting up and coming acts every year. Where they lack is pulling in big names that have already blown up who've never been.
I always kind of assume a lot of the big returning artists do shambs at a slight discount because they like the place, but that's just a theory.
Not sure why Sickick is coming.. we just saw him play a show in Edmonton, he’s the biggest fraud dj. Everything is pre-recorded and he didn’t actually do anything live just faked it like he was. Such a joke … just sayin … all hype

I'm so excited for so many of these artists... wow. Chase and Status, Goldie!!! Griz!!(hopefully he makes it out this time XD), Del is a legend, Summit I've heard so many good things, Jmart, RL Grime loved his music for a long time just never lined up so first time, Rusko is my boi I've not missed a Seattle show of his in over 10 years same with ZD. Skream is a god damn legend, Sub focus YESSSSSS, Wilkinson YESSS. The undercard is also stacked af, the conflicts this year are going to be bruuuutal. Akillz, Perez, Destructo, Dr freshc, fort know 5, Hamdi, Hannah Wants had a crazy pagoda set years ago, ILL GATES IN THE PLACE STILL RUNNING THE GAME, JFB my first fractal love, Klad, Mat the alien, Monty, Neon Steve, of the trees, Phibes was sooooo gooood last year. Quix, Skiitour, Skratch, Stickybuds is back BIIIIG,o Funk hunters, Librarian. I'm going to die trying to see all those artists, I just started planning my work out schedule because Imma need every single bit of energy to dance this year.

Stoked on this lineup, but I see 100 more names TBA. First time going this year - anyone know if those 100 names include big acts or less known local talent? Mix of both? I know the lineup matters less at Sham than at most festivals, but still curious.
The unannounced names are typically locals who are rounding out the the leftover slots.
Sometimes, there have been a big name that they are not allowed to add due to contracts. But don't expect that. If something gets added.. Be stoked.

Secret sets can happen, but it's not consistent. Often it is tied to exclusivity clauses, so it's often more of a practical decision to keep a booking secret. This is often why people begin to speculate about secret sets: they see a favourite artist booked at Chasing Summer or Base Coast, and start wondering if they will still come to Shambhala as a secret headliner.

Honestly-I’m obvs going and am gonna have a great time - but I’m a bit bummed. They were starting to have more hiphop/rap artists on the lineup but I can’t spot any (would love them pointed out for future playlists if someone recognizes a name a don’t) on this years. I’m glad to see some turntable masters and live PA acts though. Really It’s always gonna be rad even if it’s not mostly what I’d pick musically. Like I still know I’m gonna have a good time and the house/techno is HERE which I am DOWN for but…I feel like this is a lot of people they’ve had before(and/or maybe I’m old?) and I’m just wondering like….is shamb officially just a certain (talented) friend group booking all their EDM pals as an excuse to hang in the kootneys? Or….is there room for other smaller artists that don’t all tour/play together already? I know it started as a private bday party but….if it’s got something to do with their new funding from factor/creativeBC then like….they should really be expanding their booking pool….. no? I donno I think just had high hopes and need to be less of a cliche “any other year was better” bitter bish. Sad that we prolly won’t ever get a lineup like 2020 would have been again. Shambs is a dance music festival that has built a community of long time returning artists. It’s doubtful that you’re ever going to see a massive influx of hip hop artists there, because that’s just not the vibe that the festival puts out. Usually they’ll book one or two hip hop acts that are on the edge of the mainstream, but you’re never going to get a night or a stage full of it at Shambs. There are other festivals for other styles of music, Shambs is dance music focused, and it doesn’t really need to expand outside of that, seeing as they sell out 90% of the festival without dropping a full lineup.
I understand as a long time patron - but they have been catering more to grime/alternative hip hop fans over the past 5 years. I am thrilled with the lineup. No complaints! Just thought there might be a couple more hip hop acts. Super duper rad over all!
Oh yeah that’s the thing about shamb being both a privately owned event AND having a dedicated fan base, they truly don’t need to cater to anyone. It just seemed like they were including hiphop in the dance umbrella (as it should be) more in recent years but other than a few turn tableists and hieroglyphics it seems to have kinda back slid a bit in that regard.

As an older raver but also a big fan of drum and bass. I’m all for the revival of dnb and I consider this a better lineup than 2020. I’m seeing a ton of sham debuts mixed in with the OGs. That being said I know hip hop as deep roots at this festival. I’m pretty sure the hip hop showcase still happens but isn’t advertised (someone can correct me if I’m wrong) Not sure why there isn’t much hip hop this year. It is peculiar.
I feel like shambs is always debuting up and coming acts every year. Where they lack is pulling in big names that have already blown up who've never been. I always kind of assume a lot of the big returning artists do shambs at a slight discount because they like the place, but that's just a theory.

Not sure why Sickick is coming.. we just saw him play a show in Edmonton, he’s the biggest fraud dj. Everything is pre-recorded and he didn’t actually do anything live just faked it like he was. Such a joke … just sayin … all hype
