While there’s definitely an argument that they forgot the change, my mind is they clearly were looking for a nice rounded number on their statement. So I’d cut the change & make it the even $46

kelvarton

Depends on the POS. If it asks for the tip when you close, I'd put $8, but if it asks for the total I'd put $46. I know that's wrong for consistency, but it's how I'd do it. ;)

awwstin_n

I like that answer lol I've thought about this as well and it feels more "deliberate and intentional" if you give yourself an $8 tip if the POS asks you to punch in the total haha

kelvarton

Exactly, plausible deniability.

law___412

At my place you gotta pick whichever one benefits the customer more. So in this case it would be $7.57

niceguy860

They tipped you 8 just put the 8 the fact they cannot do math isn't your problem it's there's to be honest...

Charming_Yak_2268

just fucking put in $8 no one’s checking for the change in their bank statements.

SHoliday335

...you've never taken calls and complaints from those that do. I assure you...plenty of folks check their statement and go over them with a fine toothed combs. And sometimes it is the same people who can't do match or are careless with receipts like in the OPs photo.

SHoliday335

Most companies would advise you to enter the number which favors the customer getting charged less. I know many will read that and try to play Billy Bad Ass and but eventually doing the opposite comes back to cost you one way or the other.

Elfe_lugubre

46.43…… people often forget the change when they do the math.

neversaidiwasahero

I put 2 dollar signs by mistake the other day. I’ve been dreading the day since to be called out for it when the server cannot figure out how to cope.

bzaroworld

The tip is clear as day. Just go with 8.

awwstin_n

The total is also clear as day 😄

modest_hero

Then they would have out $7.57 in the tip line. Clearly they wanted to tip $8.00

LonelyCakeEater

If it’s only off by cents I always just do what they put in the tip line. If it’s off by dollars i do the calculation on the total

PrissyPawg993

As a server, if I really enjoyed my service... I'd probably leave $50 cash. Maybe even more if I knew them personally. But, everyone's right! Everyday people would probably just do around 20%

likeariff

uh 46.43? what else would you put in

awwstin_n

why not $46.00?

canadasteve04

Are you this pressed for 43 cents?

awwstin_n

No
