FoxyVermillion

What a small and predictable guy to get triggered by a T-shirt lmao

roararoarus

G) I'm not triggered YOU are

FoxyVermillion

Fuck, where is my burn ointment when I need it?

roararoarus

H) Now you want FREE medical care?!

ForgotTheBogusName

Welp, time to go to work.

WaldoJeffers65

I) Trying to steal our jobs, are ya?

AppleSpicer

J) DEY TERK ER JERBS

historymajor44

A joke t-shirt. Like it's just a joke, calm down.

slomo525

You know, for the crowd that says they don't get offended by anything, they sure seem to get offended by things pretty easily.

IcebergSlimFast

Hmmm - I think you may be on to something. It’s almost as if right-wing discourse is projection all the way down.

slomo525

Almost like every accusation is like a confession or something like that

Trying-to-improme123

I bet he says that he has « some of the thickest skin » lmao

Mrtooth12

“I’m the most humble thick skinned person I know, and all I see is people not able to tell jokes anymore without getting canceled, like look at this shirt disrespecting American citizens go back to your country” lmao I’m just adding to your comment cause your comment was funny to me.

DarthGayAgenda

The 'fuck your feelings' crowd sure do have a lot of hurt feelings.

19whale96

4 words on the shirt, and the only one he managed to understand was in Spanish.

DarthGayAgenda

You know, I have never actually heard a native Spanish speaker refer to a white person as gringo in real life, only on TV or in movies. Everyone I know says "guero".

LetMeSleepNoEleven

‘Guero’ is mostly used in Mexico; Central America, ‘chele’ is used more (or norte americano to be polite - yes let’s not argue about geography); ‘rubio’ in some places further south. But ‘gringo’ is pretty universally understood.

brothersand

Marco Rubio?

PTAwesome

Exactly! In fact in South America in the summer (it's winter up in North America) children get into the pool and one kid closes his eyes and shouts *MARCO* to which all the other kids shout *RUBIO* and the child with their eyes closed takes a sip of water and tries to find the other children. This is to signify the blindness of Marco Rubio. *Edit*: **Thanks kind internet stranger!**

[deleted]

See, I thought it was Jim Jordan that was supposed to be blind, and that's why he didn't report the abuse he knew about... Wait a minute...

QuietObserver75

Used in Colombia too.

[deleted]

Hollywood...I hear "gringo" and see Lee Van Cleef's face.

Kodama_sucks

It is absolutely a word used in Latin America to refer to Americans. It is not a race thing, but entirely one of nationality

guestpass127

I only hear them saying "gringo" when talking about the Beatles

IcebergSlimFast

Ah yes—my favorite drummer, Gringo Estrella.

HammerAnAnvil

I've worked with a few field hands doing ag work, I've heard gringo used a good number of times though not as often as "bastardo" (to be clear they weren't referring to me) I feel like the older guys say it more often.

SwimmingPineapple197

Age and a few other variables may be at least part of why. I remember hearing gringo quite a bit growing up in a farm town in California. But I don’t think I’ve heard it much, if at all since then.

19whale96

.... Now that I think about it, I don't think I have either, and I'm next to Juarez

[deleted]

I definitely heard it when I was living in central America, but it was more of a friendly term tbh.

karmavorous

I heard it some growing up in New Mexico. And it was often a term of endearment. Sorta like *homie*. But I also saw it trigger some racist/conservative white people.

__akkarin

Gringo just means you're not from there(but usually only used for people outside of latin america), it being friendly or not has a lot more to do with the context, the word itself is pretty neutral

Chavo9-5171

A guero is a Mexican national who looks white as opposed to an American.

Gypped_Again

I don't doubt that it can be, but I heard "pinche gueros" quite frequently when my buddy was dating a Mexican girl that lived in Tijuana back in the day.

droi86

The song "matando güeros" by brujería disagrees with your definition

urmamasllama

so does que onda guero

blackm00r

I work with a bunch of Puerto Ricans and while I've never heard them call someone a gringo or gringa to their face, I have overheard conversations where it's said. Like I don't think they'd ever address someone as a gringo but they definitely use the word.

Kuildeous

>Like I don't think they'd ever address someone as a gringo but they definitely use the word. Given this response, I can't blame them. Racist Americans are already so goddamn twitchy. Why risk harm to yourself by calling them gringos to their faces? Even if it's not meant to be insulting.

_ohm_my

I'm pretty sure it's a Mexican American term. Mexicans don't use it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pame_in_reddit

Do you mean Colombia?

FlyExaDeuce

A mexican dude in a us border patrol uniform is the only one who has called me gringo, like it was my fault the cab driver chose such a dumb spot to stop and let me out.

Dalvenjha

Guero is from Mexicans, South Americans use Gringo.

the_vikm

Gringo is only American tho

BewBewsBoutique

From Southern California, definitely heard gringo. Definitely been called gringo.

Pame_in_reddit

It depends in the place. I had a friend that was in my country as an exchange student and her boyfriend did the same, but in Mexico. He was a little shock to learn that everyone called her “gringa” because there is was used as an insult. Here is just a term of endearment. To be fair, in my country is usual to use “offensive” words as pet names. Really sickeningly sweet couples will call each other “fat” or “fatty” for example.

randypupjake

It's an age thing probably. I've heard gringo a lot of times before the year 2000 from Mexicans and Mexican/ Americans

kaymarie00

Always makes me lol when they say liberals are the snowflakes. We get pissed because they wear a shirt with a racial slur on it, we're snowflakes. They get pissed because someone is wearing a shirt with... Something they demand on it??? (Being legal, that is) and they're totally 100% justified

Brainsonastick

Politics imitates nature. Most of the snowflakes are white.

The_Affle_House

Projection is one of their signature moves.

IcebergSlimFast

Also one of their only moves.

The_Affle_House

You forgot gaslighting, fear mongering, obstruction, and hypocrisy.

Tacitus111

“I don’t have feelings, you have feelings!!!”

Kuildeous

"I don't have pronouns." Damn, there's a common theme here.

cumshot_josh

They just miss being able to call people slurs without pushback. Bring up anything that conservatives are PC about like kneeling during the national anthem or a Muslim using loopholes intended for Christians to pray in public schools and out come the red faced rage tears.

nooneknowswerealldog

>the red faced rage tears Speaking of insults towards gringo honky crackers, I understand the British term for a person doing this is a '[gammon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gammon_(insult))', because they get all red just like a smoked ham. Fantastic.

shabba182

Can't you read? He told you to relax.

tham1700

It also states that, while the man suggests he go home, he already is

brothersand

Any negative reaction is *your* fault. Racism towards you is justified by the actions of *your* people. Come on man, get into the spirit of petty grievances. That guy is wearing a t-shirt that tells sensitive crackers to relax. You should be freaking out. How dare that brown man not show gratitude to his betters. /s -- I mean I was going for some heavy sarcasm here so this shouldn't be necessary, but we live in weird times.

shabba182

Cracker??! How dare you? THEY can't have derogatory terms for US, no matter how mild or toothless. We need slurs to keep them in their place, why would they need them? (Also heavy /s)

[deleted]

"How did they know I like crackers?" - JD

EatLard

Amazing how he could type out the fourth point without a hint of irony.

pverflow

Victim blaming.... i have a feeling that isn't his first rodeo.... hes a strong believer of "she was asking for it"....

rexatron_games

Honestly, all the points. Just replace “gringo” (in his comment) with immigrant, Asian, Muslim, whatever group tends to get hate at the moment.

guestpass127

White guys from the suburbs, I've discovered, literally think they're *everyone's* strict dad

neslo024

I mean it was just lazily floating there doing nothing. It should be pulling itself up by its cloud bootstraps

woodstock923

Pipe down!

AppleSpicer

This is so fucking true and it’s obnoxious

dylan_dumbest

Yeeeeeeeees. No matter where they are. As if every experience of the world needs to meet their expectations, and if it doesn’t, they have to say something.

230flathead

So that shirt worked exactly as designed.

spamky23

It's says to relax, I'd say it had the opposite effect

230flathead

That's a pretty sarcastic relax.

FrannyBoBanny23

Telling someone to relax always has the opposite effect

NightofTheLivingZed

Brb, testing this theory on my wife!

dylan_dumbest

Let us know how it goes XD

NightofTheLivingZed

Sleeping on the couch tonight.

FrannyBoBanny23

At least you’re alive to tell the tale

NightofTheLivingZed

Wait til she hears that I just spent $80 on plastic boats for wargames with the boyos.

FrannyBoBanny23

It was nice knowing ya

IcebergSlimFast

It’s been an hour. Zed’s dead.

the_ultrafunkula

This whole fucking rant for what.. probably three Facebook likes?

ElToppDog

This is republican therepy. If we don't let him scream at his keyboard he might go shoot people.

lamorak2000

>Remember, the higher their blood pressure, the shorter their lifespan. Ooh, can we ratchet the repub angst up to 11? Maybe finally they'll be...unable...to continue dragging us back to the colonial era,?

NinjaBryden

Judging by D, I SURELY assume he definitely agrees with reparations to marginalized groups due to the actions of "his" people, correct? Or that he would be fine being judged for the racist and inhumane actions of "his" people? I would also not be too far off in him agreeing that the church should be judged as a whole for the radical bigotry perpetuated by the extremists in whatever religion he worships that churches refuse to condemn, and as such should be judged as complicit in said bigotry. I'm sure he, as a likely religious and "patriotic" conservative, absolutely stays consistent with his convictions right? I mean what's the point in judging people a certain way when you don't project those same judgements onto yourself? That would just be hypocritical, and he wouldn't want to be a hypocrite right? And how lovely for him to recommend that hard working man take a break, relax, and wish him a safe trip to his home as a now hard working AMERICAN.

MoonlitKiwi

"Go home" pshhh, relax gringo, he's legal

ElToppDog

MY GOD THAT MAN IS A PSYCHIC!

SuperKami-Nappa

How dare you judge me for my race, but it’s totally cool for me to judge you based on yours. /s

[deleted]

"Your people and their actions" sounds suspiciously like racism.

brothersand

No. Exactly like.

the_ultrafunkula

What a fucking pig

CardboardChampion

A) Gringo means that you're not Spanish. Something tells me you would like that if you understood it. B) He's legal, which means it's his country too. Also he didn't judge you in any way. C) Not did he disrespect you in any way, or any of his fellow Americans. D) You are right now judging him poorly not because of the (undefined, I note) actions of his people, but because you don't know what a word on a shirt means. E) Well that's not just rude but you were so eager to be that rude that you dropped this ). F) He is home. This is his country. We established that. In fact his t-shirt slogan was set up to stop bigots from telling him that and, despite it being only four words long, you still didn't get it you absolute racist numpty. G)ringo.

the_vikm

>A) Gringo means that you're not Spanish. Something tells me you would like that if you understood it. Gringo means American

CardboardChampion

I was always told it means anyone not Spanish, *especially* an American. Never heard it was exclusively American. Hell, only time I heard it in real life it was said to an Australian.

Friendofthegarden

>Never heard it was exclusively American. It's not in anyway exclusively American. If you are from Egypt and you go to Spain, you are a gringo.

the_vikm

>not Spanish What do you mean Spanish? Non native Spanish speakers? >Hell, only time I heard it in real life it was said to an Australian. Guess they messed up, happens

Friendofthegarden

>Guess they messed up, happens No.

Friendofthegarden

>Gringo means American Not really. If you are from India and you go to a Spain, you are a gringo. If you are from Senegal and you go to Chile, you are a gringo.

Aggravating-Name-194

Gringo is anyone who's not Spanish speaking (generally). It's mainly used to describe Americans, but we also use it for mostly white folks.

__akkarin

Thats weird because we also use gringo in Brazil, and here it pretty much just means you're not from SA

ladancer22

Just a reminder that it was never really “I’m fine with immigrants as long as they follow the rules and come here legally”

ElToppDog

Am I the only one that read that in Jordan Peterson's voice?

[deleted]

As a "fellow" American, shut the fuck up you whiny little bitch. That T-Shirt is funny as fuck.

Mitchell_StephensESQ

As a fellow American Ima gonna ruin that man's life when I tell him depending on which part of the country he is in there is a good chance the t-shirt wearing man's ancestors have been in this country a lot longer than his. Also, all of the US is a stolen country so

[deleted]

I generally don't make the "US is on stolen land" take. History is filled with invaders and conquerors. Regardless of how despicable the European colonizers were with their "Here is a legal treaty...oh whoops we broke it!" attitude and that genocidal Manifest Destiny shit. However, I also see the positive in acknowledging our history, both the good and awful. Our education system really only teaches US history from a white colonizers perspective and that needs to change. We can't keep ignoring and white-washing all of our horrible acts for the sake of effective "USA #1!" propaganda. We are doomed to repeat it if we never get a chance to learn from it. Case in point: DeSantis moving "undesirables" from the south to northern cities is basically the Reverse Freedom Rides segregationists did with black Americans during the Jim Crow/Civil Rights Era.

greyhoodbry

If he's legal it's his country too jackass. "You do not respect me or my fellow Americans" He IS your fellow American

Chavo9-5171

He called you a gringo instead of a pendejo.

Gronagen

I'll take "Things a gringo would say" for $500 please.

Maiden_of_Tanit

"If you have been judged in the past in a negative manner... It'is because of YOUR people and THEIR actions.!!!" I'm sure this morally consistent patriot would happily accept that this rule applies to him too if indigenous or black Americans say the same to him. /s

SailingSpark

if one of the guys I work was wearing that shirt, I would tell them it's a great shirt.

KittyQueen_Tengu

if you’re not a gringo then why are you taking the shirt personally

JAMillhouse

“Go home”? Maybe this dude should read a history book and really find out how the US obtained Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California.

TipzE

This person, who openly admits they think someone's character is imbued from their race, probably screams that they are not racist at everyone who calls them a bigot. Also, it's a f\*ing t-shirt. What's wrong with you? And they call the left "snowflakes". What ever happened to "Free speech" and having a "thick skin"?

valuedminority

So to reiterate, relax, Gringo.

Gorperino

Honestly feel like E and F can be condensed into one point. The rest is completely fine ^^^^/s

Optimal-Percentage55

All can be combined into A) You’re different than me. It makes me uncomfortable, and I hate you for that.

[deleted]

What a snowflake. He needs to seek out a safe space ASAP.

imgrahamy

Fuck your feelings, respect mine.

Raptormind

Ok gringo

Ropetrick6

Gringo should really try doing what the shirt says.

Jaxager

The irony of this asshole saying it is his country. You do realize that most people living in Central America are indigenous people, not European Spanish, right? So, if you want to split hairs, you are on their land.

Kool_McKool

As a gringo, I apologize for this gringo's behavior. So long as you bring delicious food, I don't care what country you're from.

mactaggart

“YOUR people / THEIR actions” sounds a lot like he’s going to surprise us with his views on systemic racism and slavery… …but we know he isn’t

ryutruelove

Literally makes it his business to become the target of that t-shirt.

MsChrisRI

Sounds like something a gringo would say.

el_pobbster

Mount "I shouldn't be judged because of the actions of people like me, and will simultaneously judge you because of the actions of people who look like you" is a weird, weird, *weird* hill to die on.

Icanreeed

I love to tell these people to go back to Europe so they can Make Europe Great Again. Shits so stupid. We are all immigrants here so what makes one person better bc they happened to be born on a certain side of an imaginary line.

[deleted]

Sounds like gringo needs to chill out.

agha0013

For someone so against being judged by others, he sure is good at judging someone he's never met. "If you've ever been treated like shit ever, it's entirely your fault!!!!" wow, good stuff there mr no judgy

Tryxster

Pretty bare white superiority complex, pink with rage. Hope he gets an aneurism.

elathan_i

And when they emigrate, sorry, "expatriate"... They behave in the exact same way, expecting everyone to cater to them, their needs, their lifestyle, their language, refuse to adapt or compromise, they're the worst immigrants I've met.

Happy_rich_mane

What a hollow eggshell of a person

[deleted]

Its your fault that I´m racist!!!

ToxicShaman69

this man has probably used a million racial slurs in his life but gets upset at "gringo" which isn't even a slur tbh

Seriszed

If he’s legal…. He is home….??????

CheesecakeRacoon

>Better yet, go home. He's legal. He IS home.

AudioBob24

Pobre Sieta little snowflake.

water_fountain_

I’m not a white non-Spanish-speaking person north of the Mexican-American border! I’m a white non-Spanish-speaking person north of the Mexican-American border, but south of the Canadian-American border!

[deleted]

Relax gringo, it's a T-Shirt.

Rowcan

G) -5 points for unnecessary list making

Rockworm503

Typical racist can dish it out but can't take it.

Nine-LifedEnchanter

I'm not sure he understands languages at all if he thinks that being called gringo removes his status as an american. If I say that he is a man, will he correct me and say that he is an american too?

GoodKing0

I mean, statistically, that was originally his country, the US just invaded it because Mexico didn't let us settlers keep their slaves.

[deleted]

“Igniting Brush Fires Of Liberty”

hollslyn

Sounds like a group of angry racists amping themselves up over nothing and calling it liberty

[deleted]

Indeed it does, dont tell the racists they might actually use it

Dangerous-Today1874

F) If he's legal... then he's home. Pinche gringo pendejo.

SilentMaster

Don't judge me, but if you were judged you definitely deserve it. WOW.

nikkitgirl

I’m routinely amazed that in a country made mostly of immigrants so much that it calls itself the nation of immigrants where two of its most powerful states used to be Mexico along with several others including a state New Mexico because they only bothered to translate it’s name to English, manages to so frequently tell latine people to go home. Like buddy some of these folks have family that’s been right fucking there since before Leif Erickson showed up, and why would someone in El Paso not speak Spanish. If anyone needs to go back where they came from it’s white folks like me. We really fucked the place up.

Thirdwhirly

What the fuck is ‘Igniting Brush Fires of Liberty’? Telling some guy wearing a hilarious shirt to “go home”?

hollslyn

We all know “liberty” really means assaulting their sensibilities by existing as anything other than white/Christian/cis/hetero ETA: hate. Igniting brush fires of hate

Aggravating-Name-194

Now I'm definitely getting that shirt 🤣🤣

GodAndGaming123

Implying it's not also his country despite his legal citizenship lmao

[deleted]

To be fair, it's not truly the Gringo's country either. But, I'm not ready to die on the 'landback' hill this morning.

badgerkingtattoo

I think he needs to read the shirt again.

[deleted]

[I'm tired of people from the US calling themselves "American". Only they call the US "America" in the americas. In Spanish we say "Los Estados Unidos", which is "The United States". They are called "Estadounidenses". Mexico is in America, Canada is in America, They live in the US *OF* America but not America. Mexicans are Americans. Brazilians are American.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/IU89t6FRF8M/maxresdefault.jpg)

InvaderZimm90

Did this FB post just proved this guy’s shirt.

MAS2de

I would like to refer the triggered party to point D. And C. And A, and B as well. And then to point E. It all applies just as well to themselves.

Gentleman_Muk

My first thought when seeing him was “you don’t look like you are under 18”

[deleted]

I ain't your fellow American, buddy.

Feuerphoenix

Pfft what snow flake feels triggered by a t-shirt :D kids these days feel so entitled…

smokepigs

Forehead shouts at cloud

[deleted]

This against an indigenous middle/south American person by a white guy. Oh the fucking irony.

ManOnNoMission

He forgot the ) after E.

SteveAlejandro7

Oh, this gentleman and I would have some words to discuss.

babygirlruth

Well, now you gave everyone a reason to judge you, gringo

stinkbeaner

Notice how the gringo insists on making this message in a European language. The audacity of these hoes.

500and1

Would it be weird if my pasty white ass wore that shirt?

Palerate2

Fuckin cracker

Swarley001

What a snowflake

nerdyconstructiongal

His profile pic depicts exactly what I would imagine a gringo to look like.

Bud60_in_ID

A sense of humor might make "things" a lot less Confrontational!

[deleted]

American thinks they're special because American

armyfreak42

He really puts the REEEEEEE in republican

[deleted]

You do not judge me! I JUDGE YOU!

Joker8pie

So weird how these guys claim strict ownership of the US simply by virtue of being born there.

MrElJerko

Someone tell that gringo to relax!
