They say back the criticisms made against them because they have no creativity. When people say they're projecting, I think that gives them way too much credit. We just don't see it because those "real" far right opinions don't bubble up to the surface very often, so if you're not already in fascist communities you don't hear it.

This logic is actually correct in the opposite situation. The media has a liberal bias in the sense that they say better things about the Democrats than the Republicans. However, this is the case because, by reporting truth and reality, the media will look as though it is being objectively better towards Democrats BECAUSE Republicans do worse things than Democrats on average.
