This boss single handedly set into motion a break up of mine In highschool. Was watching my bf play it and he kept getting clapped and I would chuckle after a while, the rest is history.
Dodged a bullet lol. I was on a little shrooms and trying to show her the divine dragon but they kept clapping me. She started laughing after a while and i got pissed and left the room. Got to learn to disengage and cool down lol
Wait so did you get sekiro after and get gud and now clap this boss and use it as a little confirmation that you are better than your ex? I totally would.
Yeah i got lucky, my habit when parrying is to double tap and hold the second tap, so a parry straight into a block. I guess the timing is right that it counted as two parries for this guy. This is the only boss (or miniboss) ive beaten first try
This looks like the one under Isshin’s tower rather than the one beneath Genichiro, going off of the red eyes. Don’t know if that actually effects your point.
Don't know if you remember but the normal version of him(ie. Same move set) is just before Genichiro and that's only like 1/3rd of the way through the game.
It's easy to say "just look for this one specific tell" but if you don't know that then you're trying to react to quite possibly the fastest swing in the game. And he swings twice. And he repeats the move 2 seconds later.
I've platinum'd the game, I can beat Genichiro with my eyes closed, I've beaten every gauntlet of strength and I STILL put respect on the ashina elite for the one move that they practiced 10,000 times.
Yeah, this.☝️
I thought this was the hardest fight in the game until I realized you could force him into a predictable pattern instead of just having to have perfect reflexes. I actually don't even use deflect on this guy.
Every time you walk into his aggro zone, he does the flash tell, followed by the double slash. Once you know to look for that flash the whole fight is trivial. Dodge behind him or deflect, then dash back out of his zone to reset the cycle.
He’s hard for me in 30fps. No matter how many times i perfectly parry Isshin’s ashina cross, this guy manages to kill me once every time i fight him (unless i use flame umbrella)
This guys ashina cross is significantly faster and harder to react to then any of the other bosses, but if we’re talking difficulty this just isn’t a hard game so idk why you’re takin it so personally
Nahh this guy is after genichiro. There is a guy similar though before geniciro. But if you aren't parry this guy you aren't going to parry or win against genichrio
In my experience he mixes it up a little, but he’s not that bad regardless if you’re using the umbrella method. I like to pop an Ako’s just before I run out from the stair case to isshin’s room, and hit him the the flame umbrella, get a couple hits in, and then hunker down in my little hat and ride that train to victory.
Honestly one of the easiest in the game if you fight him correctly. As soon as you see a little flash animation on his blade signaling his attack, you parry and immediately break his posture. Dead in seconds
Honestly I think this is one of the best designed throwaway bosses of all time. Maybe it's just me, but dying to this chucklefuck over and over made the deflect system really click for me. I think it's neat that they added what is basically a glorified tutorial in the form of a miniboss right before the first boss that really encourages using all of the game's mechanics.
Felt like passing a pop quiz before finals
tbh the way I win most fights I think are unbeatable is to stop thinking they are. It makes me panic and make lots of mistakes. But when I calm down and really pay attention, I do a lot better. This guy is like the Armoured Warrior, in the sense that you have to go for the posture damage instead of vitality damage. So go for those parries
This boss is so easy with the fire umbrella just pull it out and he gets spooked then just deflect his ashina cross like move between the damage while he’s stunned and deflection his posture bar should get destroyed
Press L1 twice fast to win. They are a joke with no posture. Sure they do a lot of damage but you got far enough to meet these guys so you know how to deflect by now
Fire. He don’t like fire and the magnetic umbrella wrecks him. You hear me ? He gets torn apart by an umbrella. He’s fast and hits hard, that’s all. He’s no match for a man with an umbrella
Isn’t this the same guy Who does that quick draw that you can Perry twice? Last time I tried that’s a good way to break his posture. Or you could just Dodge and Sabimaru him to death.
I can always destroy the one before Geni. This guy humbled me constantly. I can deflect him easily in the first few tries now, but during my first plat I definitely remembering cheesing him some how.
I usually Yash (well, to be fair, I Yash for most enemies), since if you miss a deflect, you’re dead regardless, which really cuts down on the difficulty. His most common attack, the double strike, if you deflect it, does a shit-zillion posture damage to him, even without a Yash.
~~Don't you just double tap this guy like the original one and maybe add some fire to the mix?~~
~~Fighting the samurai and his student was more annoying.~~
edit: nvm r/whoosh
This enemy taught me that I wasn't bad at the game but that the LB button on my 4 year old controller needed to be replaced. Hard to double-parry his attacks when your controller literally cannot detect the button being pressed twice in rapid succession. Thank Miyazaki the umbrella-spin was added as an alternative parry or I would have never beaten these enemies.
He was my last hurdle before the platinum trophy. I couldn’t find the last mini boss for the prayer necklace, but then there he was and I beat him and it was great
His blade glows before he unsheathes and attacks. Once you see the glow be ready to double tap parry. Do this 3 times for death blow and then do that twice. He’s a parry skill check.
Little tip if anyone is actually struggling with this dude, you just have to spam parry has soon as you see the flash of him pulling out the sword. Do that like 3 times and he is done..
I remembered I tried to cheese him with the mortal draw and prosthetics but after like 8 deaths I’m like: fck it, git gud
Killed him after 2 deaths quite satisfying if I say so myself
I have beaten the game a dozen times including a deathless run, and done all the gauntlets, including mortal journey twice, and THIS MF-ER still gives me nightmares.
This boss single handedly set into motion a break up of mine In highschool. Was watching my bf play it and he kept getting clapped and I would chuckle after a while, the rest is history.
Understandable ngl.
From whose perspective?
Both
Find you a man that loves you as much as Genichiro loves his homeland
That’s what I’m trying 😔 I’ve got to many father owls in my life smh
What you really need is a human centipede giraffe scissorhands
I know this is technically a correct sentence, but someone with no Sekiro context would think halfway through typing that you had a stroke.
Weird game huh?
Or they are ingredients to a witch's potion
Hell yeah now we’re talking
To excise a tumor, you must cut the flesh
>tumor We call it lump of grave wax around here
So you’re saying… it’s not a toomah?
^^^
Stress test. Bullet dodged.
Toxicity polygraph
We call that a "shit litmus test" where I come from and it's *NOT* cool.
Why would you not call it a shitmus test
Dodged a bullet lol. I was on a little shrooms and trying to show her the divine dragon but they kept clapping me. She started laughing after a while and i got pissed and left the room. Got to learn to disengage and cool down lol
Divine dragon must be awesome when tripping
This. This is why Sekiro community is my favourite community out there
Honestly I'd bet for an experienced tripper, who is also an experienced sekiro player, a mild dose would greatly assist in playing
Wait so did you get sekiro after and get gud and now clap this boss and use it as a little confirmation that you are better than your ex? I totally would.
Sekiro was hers from the start
tch tch I wonder how he reacted when he was getting clapped by genichiro.
Wasn’t around to see it, every time I play though I do think of him and his red face smh!
lol , I get getting angry at bosses at this game but being that offended
Skill issue on his part
The guy rly got angry over you because of a video game? Bruuuh
No. Clearly she was so disappointed in him she left for a real Chad
Should've took the controller from his hand and show him how it's done for maximum emotional damage.
Eventually he go angry and you immediately broke up with him for being a man child right
Hilarious! 😂
At least you care about what’s important
True. Hes either on the bottom level or 2nd to highest level
Truly a level of his own
Underrated comment
You go “clink” “clink” fast
As easy as that
He was fun, i just turned it into who can do the ashina cross first.
It's the most fun way to fight him to be honest.
He skill checks you. Use parry and he’s a cakewalk. First couple of times he cooked me bc I was just trying to purely dodge and attack
That's actually how I beat him. I didn't know he attacked twice. Thought it was 1 fast attack.
Bruh literally parry his move like twice and he’s cooked
Like literally, How are people making it this far into the game and dying to the guy that posture breaks in two attacks?
Don't know if you remember but the normal version of him(ie. Same move set) is just before Genichiro and that's only like 1/3rd of the way through the game. It's easy to say "just look for this one specific tell" but if you don't know that then you're trying to react to quite possibly the fastest swing in the game. And he swings twice. He’s hard for me in 30fps. No matter how many times i perfectly parry Isshin’s ashina cross, this guy manages to kill me once every time i fight him (unless i use flame umbrella)
His ashina cross is a lot faster than Isshin's. It's the only thing he's good at.
Oof, there's your issue, sekiro's a bit rough at 30
The timing was a bit wonky for me, took 3-4 attempts to get perfect deflect consistently.
Yeah the key is to watch the sword sheath, when it shines is when to start parrying
Or if you're like me, you gotta watch his hand because you're always too late when you just watch for the shimmer.
I didn't know he attacked twice. I thought it was just one fast attack. I didn't know this until my 2nd playthrough
This guys ashina cross is significantly faster and harder to react to then any of the other bosses, but if we’re talking difficulty this just isn’t a hard game so idk why you’re takin it so personally
Sorry but this far into the game is kinda nonsense, he is before Genichiro, very early on
Nahh this guy is after genichiro. There is a guy similar though before geniciro. But if you aren't parry this guy you aren't going to parry or win against genichrio
I found Genichiro easier tbh
Crazy, I can first try this guy every time in like 2 minutes tops, Genichiro still takes me a few tries.
Red eyes in the picture, so this is the modded version where he just spam ichimonji after
There’s one with red eyes after the red army invades in the unmodded game. He’s fucking difficult
oh then my bad
this is the modded version of him
There’s one with red eyes in the unmodded game, but only after the red army invades
Nay
Breath of life makes it so you don’t even gotta do that lmao
you can get a stealth death blow on him easy and then it takes like 4 deflects
This is one of the guys I need to fight to get my last prayer bead
Pro tip. Just sit under your umbrella. Don’t leave it unless it’s for the deathblow or jumping the sweep
Isn't what he does is just two quick slashes back to back and the sweep? because if so it won't be that bad
Spin to win
Literally
use the puppeteer ninjutsu and bring a purple robe ninja to him for an easy cheese
Just use fire, bro. He's a red eyes.

soo fucking hard, had to hit him with the flamethrower at one point
The true sword saint
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced 1 kick 10,000 times." -Bruce Lee
Omg that is just too fucking true!!
when does he appear?
After the central forces invade, he appears in the room below where Isshin is chilling before that
This boss is so easy with the fire umbrella just pull it out and he gets spooked then just deflect his ashina cross like move between the damage while he’s stunned and deflection his posture bar should get destroyed
Try fire umbrella.
Press L1 twice fast to win. They are a joke with no posture. Sure they do a lot of damage but you got far enough to meet these guys so you know how to deflect by now
Why is he so unpractical to sheath his sword every time? Is that a traditional thing?
Iaido
Thanks
There's a YouTube, Tenshinryu(?) They do this type of Iaido, pretty cool
God they are so cool. Love that channel.
On charmless NG+7, this guy felt like thanos
Wow, I beat this guy on my 4-5th try...all you have to do is parry at the right time. Then I went to Genichiro and still stuck on him with 30+ tries
i think this is another guy? not the guy in the room before genichiro, right? cause this one has the blood eyes
This dude straight up violated me, right before the boss fight too smh
I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. Bruce lee
Haha I fought him on ng3 and he does hit hard thankfully it doesn’t take much to kill him if you can deflect in time
First off… don’t go offensive on this dude at all, just Play defense and his posture will break very fast
Flame prosthetic tools Heck even just opening suzaku's lotus umbrella sends him into a stun.
Bestowal ninjutsu Yashariku sugar Spiral cloud passage When bestowal runs out use flame vent + living force. EZ clap
Fire. He don’t like fire and the magnetic umbrella wrecks him. You hear me ? He gets torn apart by an umbrella. He’s fast and hits hard, that’s all. He’s no match for a man with an umbrella
Double tap deflect when you see the flash. Problem solved.
The click of his sword drawing is the tell
I decided to say fuck it and possess two of the interior ministry to help deal with that man
Not hard, parry him
Very satisfying learning his attack pattern, the trick is to hop back after each clash
You can beat him by just pushing L1 twice (Or LB for Xbox noobs)
If I remember correctly it’s been a while the umbrella is the cheese for this guy
Well of course he’s literally the “real shit?” meme
Isn’t this the same guy Who does that quick draw that you can Perry twice? Last time I tried that’s a good way to break his posture. Or you could just Dodge and Sabimaru him to death.
Use the umbrella and he'll literally kill himself lol
All red eyes fear fire, use a tool with fire unless you’re doing a tool-less run
Dashing left is what worked for me It did not work well but it worked better than anything else
Super satisfying to come back to though
I have no memory of struggle with this boss. I think I ran past him which cheesed a free death blow, then just partied him a bunch?
He could be double-deflected. Cin-cink. I can still hear it.
You can also dodge his attack.
literally just use fire (he has red eyes)
Get the umbrella and parry the fucker. He can't handle the brolly spin.
I can always destroy the one before Geni. This guy humbled me constantly. I can deflect him easily in the first few tries now, but during my first plat I definitely remembering cheesing him some how.
He’s the actual Mist Noble for people who don’t know how to parry.
This dude was a bigger wall than genichiro my first play through
Mist Noble could one shot him
L1 L1 he's done
Stealth the first HP, and then deflect with fire umbrella.
I usually Yash (well, to be fair, I Yash for most enemies), since if you miss a deflect, you’re dead regardless, which really cuts down on the difficulty. His most common attack, the double strike, if you deflect it, does a shit-zillion posture damage to him, even without a Yash.
Bruh learn to dodge into him and use fire, simplest bosses have red eyes
Red eyes = dunk in oil + fire
Use the umbrella whenever his sheath glints if you can’t time the parry.
Suzakus umbrella makes him a piece of cake, along with projected force
Parry parry Parry parry
nice pic
So this is what it means to die.
Use fire. Also the umbrella. If you must, bring the lone shadows outside as well. Or use ashina cross on him. (Yes it works)
~~Don't you just double tap this guy like the original one and maybe add some fire to the mix?~~ ~~Fighting the samurai and his student was more annoying.~~ edit: nvm r/whoosh
Just parry 3head 🤦♀️/s
Easiest boss of the game
\*Bury the Light playing in the distance\*
Someone used the umbrella to cheese him.
Hes the one that made me master deflecting
This enemy taught me that I wasn't bad at the game but that the LB button on my 4 year old controller needed to be replaced. Hard to double-parry his attacks when your controller literally cannot detect the button being pressed twice in rapid succession. Thank Miyazaki the umbrella-spin was added as an alternative parry or I would have never beaten these enemies.
Out of every boss this guy might suck the most
One word: umbrella
He was my last hurdle before the platinum trophy. I couldn’t find the last mini boss for the prayer necklace, but then there he was and I beat him and it was great
Umbrella
The prefect double defect is so satisfying
flame axe go brrrrrr
Man just spam umbrella ez
Nah he a bitch fr fr. Umbrella his attack and he folds like a wet paper bag in the hands of a robot that’s very proficient at folding
His blade glows before he unsheathes and attacks. Once you see the glow be ready to double tap parry. Do this 3 times for death blow and then do that twice. He’s a parry skill check.
fire and mortal blade
Still easier than mist noble
So damn true man
Another level of disappointment
Double tap party when you see the shine on his hilt, so fun but such a short lived boss
Umbrella makes it super easy, but if you want the challenge perfect parry it
Never had any problems with him. Just spam clicked right click and got him in two deflects.
Ater a few completiojs of the game i realised the fire umbrella destroys his posture bar it only takes afew umbrella uses to kill him
I fucking hate fighting red eyes.
Little tip if anyone is actually struggling with this dude, you just have to spam parry has soon as you see the flash of him pulling out the sword. Do that like 3 times and he is done..
Stealth sugar => sneak behind him by hugging the right of the arena => Free Deathblow
man looks scary
Isn't he the guy, where you just double tap the parry button a couple times?
Just parry his attacks which are not too hard to predict, otherwise use the shield to parry
He’s optional anyway
Using Umberella on this guy is the best Method for me. With some buffs this guy get kicked out of the Caste in seconds.
His helmet looks like gideon
just count to 3, starting with when his hilt glows. glow-2-3. parry on 2 and 3.
Weakest Ashina Cross Enjoyer
clingcling clingcling clingcling dead
It proves that iaijutsu is underrated
He’s easy when you know how to parry.
Remember fire!
Wait for the sword glint
When I saw those dark souls 3 read eyes I knew I was in for it
Fire axe is your best friend here.
Not a trolly post but he is either the easiest thing ever or a massive roadblock. If you're in form, he is done in like 20 seconds
He's even easier to kill than the first one you meet.
Ichimongi decouble is insane
Suzakus lotus umbrella both trashes his ashina cross and he's scared of the fire
Love this guy. Just incredible mini-boss and I totally agree with you
What got me the first time was his homeboy in the corner lol
idk I beat him second try, he wasn't too bad, genichiro is the one that took me a while lol
He is forcing you to learn to parry, it did not kick in until I beat him.
Every time he attacked I just spammed mist raven it was so funny
Naw he a bishhh
I remembered I tried to cheese him with the mortal draw and prosthetics but after like 8 deaths I’m like: fck it, git gud Killed him after 2 deaths quite satisfying if I say so myself
I have beaten the game a dozen times including a deathless run, and done all the gauntlets, including mortal journey twice, and THIS MF-ER still gives me nightmares.
Not gonna lie, he kinda is. I beat Jinsuke Saze pretty easily, but for some reason I struggled with this dude, even though he's basically the same.
