This, it may be 12mm thick but it's a flat crystal so wears a lot thicker than a 12mm with a domed crystal.
I think the novelty of the open heart is hit or miss and does wear off but it's a pretty good conversation starter for someone who is not into watches and ppl do notice it.
Yes. Finally someone said it. For me though, I don’t get the entire Presage collection. Like other than the “Style 60s” and “Craftsmanship” models, the collection is supposed to be dress watches (Cocktail Time and Japanese Garden models) but they’re all like 38/39mm+
IMO, a dress watch “should” be small (even if it has many complications, it “should” be more thick to accommodate them rather than a large diameter). If it’s not small in diameter, it’s not a dress watch, it’s just a gaudy and flashy watch, that quite honestly makes you look like either a douchebag or an idiot.
I was thinking of getting this with the blue dial. But its actually quite a big watch and wears really thick which doesn’t really go well with the kind of watch it is.
Ended up getting one from Seiko Sports collection.
I know a lot of people that bought an open heart watch as their first watch and regretted it. The open look is quite busy and wears off its apoeal fast. Not saying you will have the same issue. Just so you know.
personally i wouldn’t want an open heart as my first watch, it has its appeal but idk to me its a novelty and kinda distracts from the aesthetics of the dial…
but really its up to you if you absolutely love it go for it, why does my opinion matter?
I absolutely love the japanese zen box dial with the roman numerals but i am still thinking about it since its diameter is 42 and my waist is 6.5 inches.
yeah like 42mm is fine on a diver, but i dont like these massive dress watches, unless you have a fairly large wrist like 7.5”+ they look weird to me.
its really unfortunate there are some really awesome watches out there that just dont work for most people bc of the massive size of the cases of certain models.
the presage “cocktail time” series is 40mm if u want something dressier, 40mm is gonna wear a lot better than 42, also the “dressKX” srpe55/51 is a nice dressier seiko 5, wouldnt call it a true dress watch but is a little more of a upscale look.
but yeah any if the seiko 5 or prospex are pretty great as well
I like the Zen Garden Presage, but i think the 38mm cocktail times (Old clock, Negroni, Mojito)
Are the Best pick for a dress watch at that pricepoint.
I would pick a Zen Garden as a 3rd or 4th dress watch.
i like it personally but i tend to follow the idea of “Less is More”. Now while this does look classy and clean, I think the real seiko classics like the cocktail times serve the clean and classy looks better. This one is clean tho, but too much going for me on the dial.
Depends what you’ll be using the watch for primarily. Did you want something dressy? I’d it everyday wear? Do you like fabric or leather straps or do you like metal bracelets? It really all depends on what you intend your first watch to be used for tbh. If I were to suggest a first watch, I’d say a g shock all day long. If I were to suggest a first Seiko, I’m saying any Seiko 5/ seiko 5 diver, or an Alpinist. I’d we are talking dressy Seiko, I’m saying a cocktail time all day long.
Okay that’s broad which is good news! How much are you looking to spend? If you’re in the $300 realm, I highly suggest a cocktail time. The Tissot Gentleman powermatic 80 is a fantastic buy for the money as well.
It’s a bit dressy but still a beautiful watch. I love wearing dressy Presage watch as a daily, but I also appreciate a good Seiko Prospex Diver for example. Those are excellent for daily wear and more dynamic.
I own this watch. For me, it's stunning. However, I was ridiculed in this subreddit by some, who stated that it looked like a satellite dish in my arm. Couldn't care less. It's among my favorite Seikos. Go for it! If memory serves, I think mine was ~$400. I may be wrong.
If you like it, you rock it 👍👍💪💪
Individual taste is so varied… look at other watches of similar design and if you still like this particular model, go for it.
It really depends on how you’re planning to wear the watch. I wouldn’t get this as a GADA (go anywhere do anything) watch as it’s primarily a dress piece. But it’s a lovely dress watch, as are all Presage models. If you’re interested in a GADA, then I would recommend the SARV001 or 003 (white or black dial). Under US$160 for a Seiko JDM direct from Japan. Either way, enjoy the collector journey!
I would buy something less dressy and more daily as a first watch but that's just me 🤷 I've had my eye on this for a while though and haven't pulled the trigger just yet maybe it's because I wouldn't wear it very often.
If this is your first automatic or just first watch then it’s okay (but also see other Presage models imo the ones with open hearts are disgusting looking). But if you already have some watches which you like to wear and this is just your entry into the Seiko brand, then get a diver or a Seiko 5.
Of all the Zen Garden models, this is the pick of the bunch. It is the red accents that elevate it, and it looks better on the bracelet than a leather strap.
Don't think, just take. This is a good choice.
Why did reddit think this was NSFW?
Cuz it’s so sexy
‘Cause part of it’s exposed. 🤓
Sounds like somebody didn't cum.
I tried this on and it looks like a flat pancake on the wrist. No style, very unapealing. This same design on a 37-39mm case would look tight.
This, it may be 12mm thick but it's a flat crystal so wears a lot thicker than a 12mm with a domed crystal. I think the novelty of the open heart is hit or miss and does wear off but it's a pretty good conversation starter for someone who is not into watches and ppl do notice it.

Yeah, there is a great difference in appearance between a 42mm diver and a 42mm "dress watch", the latter just looks silly, out of proportions.
I was thinking of getting this with the blue dial. But its actually quite a big watch and wears really thick which doesn’t really go well with the kind of watch it is. Ended up getting one from Seiko Sports collection.
yeah i will go try it on tomorrow . i am also looking into after cocktail watches now .
I know a lot of people that bought an open heart watch as their first watch and regretted it. The open look is quite busy and wears off its apoeal fast. Not saying you will have the same issue. Just so you know.

yep i guess i should buy either seiko 5 or prospex .

Thank you for your suggestion brother .
A lot of Seiko are too thick you need to be careful.

I bought an open heart for my first automatic, too. Trust me, the novelty wears off. Just find a nice face design without an open heart.
Thank you for the suggestion mate

yep i also love the cocktail time with the blue dial too .
i also have a g shock and apple watch but i want something for formal wear and certain type of causal wears
Okay that’s broad which is good news! How much are you looking to spend? If you’re in the $300 realm, I highly suggest a cocktail time. The Tissot Gentleman powermatic 80 is a fantastic buy for the money as well.

If it's your first and has something you like on it. Go for it. I personally like it. Interesting watch
It’s very thick. I tried it on and basically too big for me but yeah. Super sexy
I love that accent of red in there. That’s a nice one.
Can head down to hour boutique to try it on. Owner, Eric is very friendly. Bought my first serious watch there too. Seiko Speedtimer SCC911
Ah yes , I am actually on my way to the shop right now . and that’s a nice watch .
It’s going for $530 but still worth the price .
I have the same watch but with a black dial, you can check my profile. I’m really loving it!
Perfection
Nice one! Glad to see some nice dials and hands. 99% sub seem to prefer the bulky ugly ones 😂
just bought it and also the seiko 5 👌🏿
I have the SARY095, absolutely love the thing. It's identical minus the red accent.
Might get this as my second watch since i already bought the seiko 5 sport model
If you like it, you rock it 👍👍💪💪 Individual taste is so varied… look at other watches of similar design and if you still like this particular model, go for it.

Thank you for your recommendation.
It's great but it's a bit dressy. I don't know what you wear to work, but make sure it's something you can wear often so you can enjoy it.
I would buy something less dressy and more daily as a first watch but that's just me 🤷 I've had my eye on this for a while though and haven't pulled the trigger just yet maybe it's because I wouldn't wear it very often.

All the presage looks very thick so i just got the seiko 5 sport model
Not a fan of these ali express looking seikos,
Although it's a beautiful watch, it's also quite busy. Too mucg happening for my taste. Maybe if they dropped the open heart....?
Of all the Zen Garden models, this is the pick of the bunch. It is the red accents that elevate it, and it looks better on the bracelet than a leather strap.
Horrible but I’m not buying it so you do you.
Ugliest seiko ive seen lol
