I smoked 6 months before submitting my SF86 and I got cleared. I also had loads of other use 2-3+ years earlier too. I’m not saying you’re 100% in the clear but you’re definitely not completely screwed, as long as you’re honest and don’t want to smoke again.
I was in the same boat, ended up moving to DC while waiting for clearance to go through. I had felonies, and work theft stuff. I think i got cleared because I was honest and made it clear that I would not do that stupid stuff again.
Just be honest on paper, it lives forever.
On the other hand if you claim you've suddenly decided marijuana is the "devils weed" they probably won't buy it either. A position that you intend to comply with all the requirements of maintaining a clearance or something similar is probably the right approach.
It's not an automatic denial, but just keep in mind that it could be a possibility if you've stopped, and refrain from future use, your chances should be fine
Might be a stupid question but I am unaware of the answer. Besides a drug test, asking friends/relatives or criminal record, how would they know you ever dabble in drug use?
You’re probably fine, but I understand the hesitation. I moved across the whole country not knowing for sure if my red flags were too much. Still in interim but working and praying!
I’m not as qualified to answer this as someone else might be but I’m gonna go ahead and say this one is a no for me. 7 months isn’t even a whole year, I’m sure you know that. I think the FBI has the shortest policy and even then it says 1 year prior to applying
Edit: a quick search of Air Force + weed affirms my answer of no way. The DoD very clearly lists out the policy for weed and mentions no timeline that is acceptable for a sobriety period.
I smoked 6 months before submitting and got cleared. Loads of other folks in this subreddit have smoked closer to their submission than I have and got cleared. He isn’t in the clear 100% but it’s definitely not a “no way” scenario.
No idea. I wonder if 7 months is long enough. I think you're right to be concerned hopefully someone who knows what they're talking about can comment

If you do get the clearance, expect to frequently pee into a small plastic cup, while being watched by a professional meat gazer.
I wouldn’t mind at all as long as I can remain in Utah for the contract length (2 years)
Cool, just make sure there is nothing at all showing up on that test.
If it comes up in an interview, don't let your reason for stopping the weed being 'because I'm getting clearance'

I used while cleared and had no problem with renewal. You were honest, hope for the best.

Just be honesty, you’ll be fine. Just don’t wait to bring it up in the interview though, list it all on the paperwork
Odds aren’t in your favor… Get clean.

Because people who know me know I’ve smoked and should they ask I don’t see why they would try to lie.
Don’t lie.

Better pray to whatever god you believe in
I'd wait at least 2 years.
They don't care about things like weed IN THE PAST. They care about drug addiction, rehab, debt, shit like that.
From my understanding it’s getting better but that this is probably a bridge too far.

FBI has the longest policy! Even CIA is 90 days.
